Psalm 108 ~ I will give thanks to You, O Lord, among the peoples † ††

The Word of God Stands Forever. Alleluia.

Psalm 108

A Song. A Psalm of David.

My heart is steadfast, O God!
I will sing and make melody with all my being!

2 Awake, O harp and lyre!
I will awake the dawn!

3 I will give thanks to you, O Lord, among the peoples;
I will sing praises to you among the nations.

4 For your steadfast love is great above the heavens;
your faithfulness reaches to the clouds.

5 Be exalted, O God, above the heavens!

Let your glory be over all the earth!

6 That your beloved ones may be delivered,
give salvation by your right hand and answer me!

7 God has promised in His Holiness:
“With exultation I will divide up Shechem
and portion out the Valley of Succoth.
8 Gilead is mine; Manasseh is mine;
Ephraim is my helmet,
Judah my scepter.
9 Moab is my washbasin;
upon Edom I cast my shoe;
over Philistia I shout in triumph.”

10 Who will bring me to the fortified city?
Who will lead me to Edom?
11 Have you not rejected us, O God?
You do not go out, O God, with our armies.
12 Oh grant us help against the foe,
for vain is the salvation of man!

With God
we shall do valiantly;
it is He
who will tread down our foes.

We all know Fight the Good Fight.
Having all the tools we can find and find useful, is a path our Father God would walk with us.

In Psalm 108, is the Good Fight today.
Psalm 107 tells us something similar, the voyage on the ocean. Beautiful and terrifying, we can picture this occurring in the same day. Calm and terrifying.

David was never recorded as being a sailor, or even going on a sea voyage. Psalm 108 has already told us the Psalmist woke up with optimism. As the day progresses, Joy is found. Suddenly, David is confronted with the idea of his loved ones suffering. We are told all the time, like Psalm 73, not to compare our lives to others. This leads to misery. The Books of the Bible, Samuel and Chronicles tell us immediately we want to know about Life and Lives and People. The Bible isn't just written as a History; The Scriptures are an Experience.

Life isn't a tame lion. God is Good. All the Time.

As David compares his situation to the History, remember David learned while tending his family lambs and flock, David isn't really having anything remotely like amusement and comfort as his life unfolded into Scripture. The Scriptures are real, life has suffering. David suffered for 22 years, diligently working on being anointed of God. "Anointed of God." David was crowned four times, and the prophetic seemed to move sideways.

When David had 'a bad day,'  David wasn't going home, for a glass of wine and a lot of over thinking. David went to a tent or a cave having seen entrails and broken heads. How did David cope with Horror.

David believed forcefully in something we'd call the American Dream. David wouldn't call this at all. David would say faith would ask us to do the work God gives mankind: To Believe in the One He has Sent. David understood The Almighty so well, David believes Yahweh is the exact nature of Jesus Christ. David believes, eternally, God wants the blind to see, the deaf to hear and the poor to have Good News preached to them.

David believes whatever crisis he has, God is going to interweave this for God's Glory.

When we say Fight the Good Fight, we are saying:

The New Testament, the New Covenant, is telling us we are Living Stones. Building our souls into becoming God's Treasure.

And we don't build tomorrow, we build today. David very specifically is telling us what he does daily.

David the Shepherd admires The Good Shepherd.
David is always tending something and as he tends, David is finding Joy.

Today we might say mindfully, but David is not meditating in Peace. The Peace that passes understanding - is - very - present. David is doing as his faith and his life and his prophesy and his soul teach David - David is tapping into God's Strength, not to endure, to Thrive.

What stage of David's life is Psalm 108?

  • Forgotten and overlooked, youngest son of Jesse. Learning about God in the field with the sheep. Samuel had to rebuke Jesse to get the ball rolling.
  • Innocent and overly confident teenager going up against a Giant. We have archaeological proof sitting in the Museum of Israel and accepted by the experts. (The internet was wrong, the Museum of Israel lists the asset.)
  • David wades into a mine field with his employer, the King. Losing the first wife and soon on the run.
  • Mercenary David lives very colorfully and all the priests who helped him live the 'anointed' were taken in slaughter by King Saul.
  • David's own band of thugs decide to Kill David when the families are taken and kidnapped by other mercenary thugs.
  • David lived in a ... ditch. This ditch was real, David really existed. As King. Not many men ride their favorite donkey and dance naked at the Coronation.  One sort of lends itself to the other, maybe?
zzzzz

What Stage of David's Life is Psalm 108?

Today.
David could be having an awful time, in his dream Palace, getting the census taken.
Or David could be learning Absalom is plotting heinously.
The Time of David's Life is - Today.

Lent is remembering ALL
Jesus Christ has done for me and for you.
Walking with Jesus and pleasing the Lord Jesus Christ

This Lent. After considering how to keep up my temple, I decided to rededicate my walking every day and giving this to our dogs.

I'm going to be more attentive to the people God puts in our lives. Today we are smoking a pulled pork shoulder for a grieving friend who lost a family member. Edward is smoking this and we went to the grocery together.

We are praying for the recovery of the nation, and remembering friends who just went through a medical ordeal and feel they have run the race with a lot of challenges.

We will donate our pledge to our Church and give relief money to Turkey.

This isn't an all out heave ho, this is what God has just simply placed in our path. Really the walking feels like the every day of Lent 2023. I don't enjoy tooting my horn, but recently felt I owed an explanation about Lent, and So, There You Are!

Giving is really allll about being cheerful. Really. I dislike somber religion and Jesus tells us God is His Exact Nature John 14, 15, 16, 17 the miracle of Joyful Jesus during Lent. Jesus joyful Life.

 Spring is coming!!!

We are the Easter People and Alleluia is for US in Jesus Christ!

Matthew 23:37

How often I would have gathered your children
together as a hen
gathers her brood under her wings

Abba, Father,

Jesus was suddenly walking with the Disciples on the Road to Emmaus. And their hearts were strangely warmed, they asked Jesus to stay to eat with them.

We pray for relief to help and reach Syria
and Turkey. 6.4 and 4.9 earthquakes this week.
We pray this will cease. Lord, Your mercy upon this land and
Your people.

We pray Amazon puts back Amazon Smile,
philanthropy is needed today and this program
was wonderful. Many will feel the clip if Amazon Smile doesn't
continue. Please Lord.

Your Words are Living and Active, when we long for Your Words,
You are there.

To Know Scripture is to Know the Power of God. For Your Glory, Father God.

We ask You, to walk with us and guide us and lead us from this time.

Help us and encourage us to see what this season teaches us.
With Your Spirit, we will be Brave, filled with Valor, and Diligent.
You have taught us, when we wander away and have fallen,
You will search for us.
Help us in those moments to be found by Jesus,
wonderful Jesus.

Help us to see the Blessings in each day and in finding Your Blessings,
the day is blessed.

The times of refreshing, more enduring.
Meaningful Life. Abundant Life to Look Up and Find
the benefits You daily give and load us with
. If we don't see our blessings, we cannot live our Blessings.

In Your Enduring and Prevailing Love,
Grace and Mercy we Live.

We are Blessed to seek You First.
Blessed to be finding the High Way of Your Heaven today.
Blessed to ask to see more Heaven upon earth.
Blessed to have You as our Daily Bread.
Blessed to ask to Live Love, Joy and Peace.

Blessed to pray in expectation of Your Love and Willingness.
Blessed to say Thank You that during Holy Week,
we have seen the Glimpse of Your Glory
working to heal the fullness of the earth, Yours.

We have had problems in our house,
and someone ill has placed non dishwashing soap in the dishwasher,
2 in 2 weeks, causing suds, amazing. Listed as how to break a dishwasher.
Then phosphate remover is added and this creates a toxic lead need for prayer.
Suds seems like a nuisance and is actually toxic. Pray for peace, please.

In Jesus, we Live and ask this for those we Love.
We pray for our own strength,
Love and ask Jesus to cover this Nation, those who lead this Nation
and all other nations in this fight.

Thanks for Facebook and the Asbury Revival 2023

Isaiah 5:11 ~ seek the LORD: Look to the Rock from which you were cut and to the quarry from which you were hewn

Ash Wednesday is a Voyage.

Lent

Isaiah 61:1
The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me, because the LORD has anointed me to
proclaim good news to the poor.

He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,
to proclaim freedom for the captives
and release from darkness for the prisoners

The Joy of the Lord is our Strength!

Isaiah 5:11

Isaiah 51:1
Listen to me, you who pursue righteousness and who seek the LORD:
Look to the rock from which you were cut
and to the quarry from which you were hewn

And on this Adventure, Journey, Path, Way - on this Map of God's Plan,
the Adventure is Joy and the X on the map has been instead
replaced with The Joy Jesus has Planned by His Love,
His Sacrifices, His Support and Steadfast Love.

Abba, Father,

Ezekiel 37

4 Then he said to me, “Prophesy to these bones and say to them, ‘Dry bones, hear the word of the Lord! 5 This is what the Sovereign Lord says to these bones: I will make breath enter you, and you will come to life. 6 I will attach tendons to you and make flesh come upon you and cover you with skin; I will put breath in you, and you will come to life. Then you will know that I am the Lord.’”

Where we would see dust, You would see Life.

When we would Believe You, You clothe us in Jesus
and give us the Joy of the Lord.

When we want Renewal we will come with confidence to Your Throne, tell you of our trespasses and receive renewal from Your Grace upon Grace.

Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort. You provide us Grace and peace from You, God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Our Thanks and Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort,

You comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by our Gracious Father.

You assure us life has trouble and we know Christ’s sufferings, so through Christ we share abundantly in comfort too.

Our hope in You is unshaken, for we know in suffering of life, we will also share in You Comfort, The Holy Spirit.

Lifting up our Hearts, our hopes, the ones we Love for Jesus Christ to Bless, Enfold and Uplift all we Love and to Save the world in Jesus Christ.

Our cares covered in Jesus.

Our prayers for Wayne, to feel stronger and Dee to have peace.

Please pray for me, I had confict and injury today, several times
please pray for Peace with Joy. I think we solved all of them. It was a day
with conflict in the morning, many chores, more conflict by phone,
conflict at 1 pm and conflict at 2 pm.
With generous help and blessing about 4 pm.
Please pray for peace.

Bless us to Seek You First to live Lives of Love, Peace and Joy.

Thank You, Jesus, Amen.

Exodus 12:17 ~ Celebrate the Festival of Unleavened Bread

Exodus 12:17

"Celebrate the Festival of Unleavened Bread, because it was on this very day that I brought your divisions out of Egypt. Celebrate this day as a lasting ordinance for the generations to come."

The more times and histories change, the more they are the same

  Nehemiah 8:12

Then all the people went away to eat and drink, to send portions of food and to celebrate with great joy, because they now understood the words that had been made known to them

Matthew 11:19

The Son of man came eating and drinking, and they say, Behold a man gluttonous, and a winebibber, a friend of publicans and sinners. But wisdom is justified of her children.

Mardi Gras was a very important event when we lived in Nice, France when I was a child. The photos are vintage. Mardi Gras today looks like 2 or 3 story floats that took months. Back in the day, the Costumes were colorful and reused year after year. Masses of confetti were thrown. It was a family event. Color had returned in mid-winter and all the people were glad to be outside for a reason.

Would Jesus be thrilled. Yes, Jesus found life to be strengthened with Joy.

The Joy of the Lord is our strength!

We began this Year with a huge Surprise Monday, January 2, 2023
“Monday Night Football” game between the Buffalo Bills and Cincinnati Bengals was suspended and they knelt to pray for God's Help and Mercy
For Damar Hamlin

Matthew 16:17,18

17 Jesus replied, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah!
For this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood,
but by My Father in heaven.

18 And I tell you that you are Peter,
and on this rock
I will build My church,
and
the gates of Hades will not prevail
against it.

“Monday Night Football” game between the Buffalo Bills and Cincinnati Bengals was suspended in the first quarter after Bills safety Damar Hamlin collapsed after a hit and was taken off the field by ambulance.

Hamlin, 24, received CPR on the field, according to ESPN’s “Monday Night Football” announcers. ESPN reporters described the sight of Bills players opening weeping as the team gathered on the field. About 23 minutes after Hamlin collapsed, Bills coach Sean McDermott and Bengals coach Zac Taylor conferred and called a temporary suspension of the game.

Hamlin is a second-year NFL player and was in his second season with the Bills. He was transported to the nearest trauma center to Paycor Stadium in Cincinnati. ESPN announcer Joe Buck prayed and reported that Hamlin’s mother was on hand for the game and accompanied him to the hospital.

Genesis 28:15

“I am with you and will watch over you wherever you go,
and I will bring you back to this land.
I will not leave you until I have done what I have promised you.”

Philippians 1:6
And I am sure of this,
that he who began a good work in you
will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.

Psalm 119:105
Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.

Proverbs 11:14
For lack of guidance, a nation falls,
but victory is won through many advisers.

Abba, Father,

You, Our Father, has loved us so much that
we are called children of God.

And we really are His Children!

John, Your Beloved Disciple calls You, "God of Love."
The willingness to do the right action even at a cost.
Knowing You are giving more than what  would have been done for you.
 Loyalty. Endurance. Recreating a spark.
Remembering past gratitude. Adherence. Care. Constancy.
Dependability, trustworthy, giving truth.

Gentleness - tenderness and kindness.

Paul calls You, "God of encouragement!"
Comfort, delight, elation, glee,
humor, pride, satisfaction, wonder, exultation, frolic,
gladness, gratification, indulgence, merriment,
rejoicing, revelry, and good humor.

We pray rightly over Christians

Please You Bless us and Keep us,

Make Your Face Joyfully Shine upon us,
Be Gracious to Damar and your children!

May we Lift up Your Face to Smile upon us.

Cover us in Your Peace, the Very Peace of You, Our God, Knowing Your
Willing Plan for a Hope and Future.

To place the Name of Jesus in our souls. Jesus before us,

Jesus behind us, Jesus Living Water pouring and flowing surround us and those we Love. Help us to Seek You First. Dwell with us.
Dwell in those we Love.

Help us to seek You first.

Help us to have more Heaven upon earth, please Jesus,
pray with us and hear our prayer.

The Blessing of Jesus upon Damar's full recovery
and upon us, we pray
to see this year continue
in
the Pleasure of the Holy Spirit.

For all the Times You've
Helped Thank You.

Alleluia and Amen in Jesus Christ.

About scripture-for-today.blogspot.com/

We believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He has saved all who call upon His name and rely on Him for His Grace. The Scriptures are living & active and are for understanding the Lord Almighty. Biblical readings are chosen from the Ecumenical Christian Church and the Nicene Council, 325 A.D., approved Apocrypha. People remember not just from reading, but by sight and orally- an image has been added as well as audio readings. God tends to link the passages together with fascinates - this blogger, Anne-Laurel Gardere

This blog is pretty simple, but for a reason. This blog isn't about agenda or me, it is for the joy and love to found by reading the Scriptures. Ultimately, it is you and the Lord.

About Me

My photo
Email registry at bottom.! “All Scripture is inspired by God” (2 Timothy 3:16). Men “moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God” (2 Peter 1:21). The Holy Spirit carried men along, moving and guiding them as they wrote in their own words what God wanted them to say. The Bible is unique; comprised of 80 separate books, & written over a period of thousands of years by more than 40 writers with one Author, spanning the centuries, different states of peace & war & different situations in life. The Bible answers the question: of who is God, who is man & what can their relationship can be. Although the Bible was written on perishable material and copied by hand for many centuries, its accuracy is not in doubt, proven by Dead Sea Scrolls and papyrus from 2,000 years. The Bible has survived persecution & criticism to be read with great interest in each generation. The Bible gives witness to the greatness of the Creator. A loving Father concerned for all of his creation. With each verse of the bible witnessing to God is love and the multitude & vastness of His attributes. The Bible was written for you. <><
