Psalm 122. Psalm 124. Are Psalms we know David wrote. This is probably another one. David completed the lands promised to the 12 Tribes in the Exodus.

Freedom is an interesting thing. Comparing the beginning of 2017 to early 2018.
My 26-year-old son said after years of so much stability, we seem to be surrounded by angry times, uncertain economics, strange outlooks by the news. Old news that is outdated. Renewal of racism and the dissolution of racism by the people of Boston. My son said every thing is different rapidly from college costs, to continual war. Last year, being in the 4th largest city of the USA, we barely heard trains coming from the Port of Houston. An odd thing. And this year, the trains seem to be unceasing. Increasing Prosperity or wobble is what he called all this.

We live in an area the United Nations says is one of the 7 fastest growing cities in the world due to Exxon now headquartered here. 15 years ago we had 4 way stop signs. Now traffic can be intense, and we have a lot of traffic lights.

Freedom. Suddenly you realize you are called upon to be strong. And in God, in His Strength, we find we have this Strength.

We do not always feel blessed. We do not always feel on top of the difficulties we all have in life. And the next day the same life, the same set of circumstances are Blessed. Lifted by God in renewing mercies.

We have seen in Texas - prosperity arrives.
I grew up in Dallas when it was a large city of 300,000 people. And, now, Houston and all surrounding cities add up to 6 Million. About half the size Beijing, China. And now Houston and Dallas, some day, will be connected by a Bullet Train of a 90-minute trip. The same as Weatherford to Dallas by car.

The 1970s were filled with possibilities.
New opportunities for a Larger Home Loan. Fewer Society Strict Rules. And increase in sexually transmitted 'illnesses' or 'diseases.' A disease. A medical condition is a broad term that includes all diseases and disorders. A disease is an abnormal condition affecting the body of an organism. A disorder is a functional an abnormality or disturbance. So the term is purely political.

And what has followed
Is this seemingly wobble of change of education, change of acceptability of a pattern of family and stable life? The change of Housing. The Change of Marriage since the 1970s.

We find the people rise up to make stability.
It is not so desired to find impolite society. The people answer with their choice in sports, in Awards watching. Politically. The Churches presenting the complete Word of God Prosper with Kindness and Mercy. Higher Education is still sought. Junior Colleges prosper where ideas are more moderate.

Why?

God has many means of sweeping all things to Good who Trust in Him.
All things work for God's Plan. When we align ourselves to God, we have done well. The Nation of France, prior to the French Revolution, attached itself to being comfortable and easy with few necessities to align with God. And as more found comfort - others starved.

We allow Father God First Place.
As we seek to show mercy in races, as we seek education, as we have education and families are stabilized. As we progress in Deliberate Christianity - we find this Justice and Mercy places us in God's care. This Generation is committed to marry more. Continue Education. Stay married and raise the children. Provide for the children. Allow the children to grow and fend for themselves.

This is a Way God allows His Spirit to work.

But when you look at the miracles of God - we find the miracles of the Bible - being outnumbered - overwhelmed with problems - God still is the Way, the Truth, the Life.

Jesus is so Loving - the Disciples threw a fit over personal answers and long life as the RISEN KING JESUS fixed Breakfast in John 21.

So Loving - the father with his son so ill - felt comfortable to cry out for Jesus' own Help "I have faith, help me to have more!"

And the same God of Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow - Still Loves and Works.

1945 and Peace. A child shall lead them.
A child told a Catholic Priest his family had a huge volume of weapons and ammunition stock piled in a cave. It was a vast sight to the child. Impressive, the adult men has worked on this for about 3 -4 weeks putting this collection in a cave. The child told the kindly Priest of the boxes with colors holding the bullets.

The Priest told the child such collections in caves tend to create violence and people die. The child had a vague idea of this. The Priest asked for the location. The child was alarmed and said he would think about the Priest's question. And the next day, the child came and told the Priest, the Priest could come with the child, collect the weapons and store them under the Monastery and Church.

Violence would be averted. So the Priest took Nuns, who would not be observed and the weapons, which were many, were collected all that day.

A week later all the Jews coming to the Holy Land
From German Concentration Camps, the weak and the gaunt - filled with new hope were coming to the Holy Lands where President Truman and Winston Churchill were finding a safe place for these rescued, remnant Jews.

As the Jews arrived, weary, starved and wounded walked toward Jerusalem
Arabs started firing on the Jews. The same Catholic Priest opened the walls of the Monastery and the Jews were rushed,  running, inside. The Priest sent word of peace and non-violence. As dark fell, locals climbed the walls to shoot into the Monastery. Inside the Monastery - was decided the Jews, the Catholics were worthy of life and peace. The Catholic Priest went into the basement and all the Jews and Catholics picked up local guns and weapons and the locals were surprised at the sudden return fire when simple ambush was expected upon the innocent. And violent men with murderous intent were - vanquished.

The Remnant of God - were protected.
By coincidence, by Miracle of God, by innocence, by hard work to remove weapons, by the correct placing of the weapons, by the righteous and by those who Love Jesus. By those willing to provide shelter for the weak. By the Brave willing to be Shepherds and Warriors of God. All these people lived to be old. Peace was established.

Freedom God Established and Held.

Matthew 18:1-14 ~ see the face of my Father in Heaven

Matthew 18:1-14

18 At that time the disciples came to Jesus and asked, “Who, then, is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?”

2 He called a little child to him, and placed the child among them. 3 And he said: “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. 4 Therefore, whoever takes the lowly position of this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. 5 And whoever welcomes one such child in my name welcomes me.

6 “If anyone causes one of these little ones—those who believe in me—to stumble, it would be better for them to have a large millstone hung around their neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea. 7 Woe to the world because of the things that cause people to stumble! Such things must come, but woe to the person through whom they come! 8 If your hand or your foot causes you to stumble, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to enter life maimed or crippled than to have two hands or two feet and be thrown into eternal fire. 9 And if your eye causes you to stumble, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to enter life with one eye than to have two eyes and be thrown into the fire of hell.

10 “See that you do not despise one of these little ones. For I tell you that their angels in heaven always see the face of my Father in heaven.

12 “What do you think? If a man owns a hundred sheep, and one of them wanders away, will he not leave the ninety-nine on the hills and go to look for the one that wandered off? 13 And if he finds it, truly I tell you, he is happier about that one sheep than about the ninety-nine that did not wander off. 14 In the same way your Father in heaven is not willing that any of these little ones should perish.

Jesus the exact nature of God the Mighty.

The Labor of God.

We sometimes lament the loss of Moses and Elijah. Elisha.

The New Covenant is for us. Hezekiah let fate happen for his children. Eli knew the day had passed his sons. Samuel saw his children passed by.

Luke 7
11 Soon afterward he went to a town called Nain, and his disciples and a great crowd went with him. 12 As he drew near to the gate of the town, behold, a man who had died was being carried out, the only son of his mother, and she was a widow, and a considerable crowd from the town was with her. 13 And when the Lord saw her, he had compassion on her and said to her, “Do not weep.” 14 Then he came up and touched the bier, and the bearers stood still. And he said, “Young man, I say to you, arise.” 15 And the dead man sat up and began to speak, and Jesus gave him to his mother.

Jesus had given His Brothers time and Love.

No Band, no Heavenly Chorus. Just Love.

Mark 5:21-43

21 Jesus went back across to the other side of the lake. There at the lakeside a large crowd gathered around him. 22 Jairus, an official of the local synagogue, arrived, and when he saw Jesus, he threw himself down at his feet 23 and begged him earnestly, “My little daughter is very sick. Please come and place your hands on her, so that she will get well and live!”

24 Then Jesus started off with him. So many people were going along with Jesus that they were crowding him from every side.

25 There was a woman who had suffered terribly from severe bleeding for twelve years, 26 even though she had been treated by many doctors. She had spent all her money, but instead of getting better she got worse all the time. 27 She had heard about Jesus, so she came in the crowd behind him, 28 saying to herself, “If I just touch his clothes, I will get well.”

29 She touched his cloak, and her bleeding stopped at once; and she had the feeling inside herself that she was healed of her trouble. 30 At once Jesus knew that power had gone out of him, so he turned around in the crowd and asked, “Who touched my clothes?”

31 His disciples answered, “You see how the people are crowding you; why do you ask who touched you?”

32 But Jesus kept looking around to see who had done it. 33 The woman realized what had happened to her, so she came, trembling with fear, knelt at his feet, and told him the whole truth. 34 Jesus said to her, “My daughter, your faith has made you well. Go in peace, and be healed of your trouble.”

35 While Jesus was saying this, some messengers came from Jairus' house and told him, “Your daughter has died. Why bother the Teacher any longer?”

36 Jesus paid no attention to[a] what they said, but told him, “Don't be afraid, only believe.” 37 Then he did not let anyone else go on with him except Peter and James and his brother John. 38 They arrived at Jairus' house, where Jesus saw the confusion and heard all the loud crying and wailing. 39 He went in and said to them, “Why all this confusion? Why are you crying? The child is not dead—she is only sleeping!”

40 They started making fun of him, so he put them all out, took the child's father and mother and his three disciples, and went into the room where the child was lying. 41 He took her by the hand and said to her, “Talitha, koum,” which means, “Little girl, I tell you to get up!”

42 She got up at once and started walking around. (She was twelve years old.) When this happened, they were completely amazed. 43 But Jesus gave them strict orders not to tell anyone, and he said, “Give her something to eat.”

16 Fear seized them all, and they glorified God, saying, “A great prophet has arisen among us!” and “God has visited his people!” 17 And this report about him spread through the whole of Judea and all the surrounding country.

Abba,

Luke 11 tells us to pray impudently.
8 I tell you, though he will not get up and give him anything because he is his friend, yet because of his impudence he will rise and give him whatever he needs. 9 And I tell you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. 10 For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened. 11 What father among you, if his son asks for[d] a fish, will instead of a fish give him a serpent; 12 or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? 13 If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!”

Luke 18. Jesus hears all prayers. Even the least.
5 yet because this widow keeps bothering me, I will give her justice, so that she will not beat me down by her continual coming.’” 6 And the Lord said, “Hear what the unrighteous judge says. 7 And will not God give justice to his elect, who cry to him day and night? Will he delay long over them? 8 I tell you, he will give justice to them speedily. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on earth?”

The tax collector, standing far off, would not even lift up his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, ‘God, be merciful to me, a sinner!’ 14 I tell you, this man went down to his house justified, rather than the other. For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but the one who humbles himself will be exalted.”

Psalm 130 ~ If you, O Lord, should mark iniquities, O Lord, who could stand?

Psalm 130

A Song of Ascents.

Out of the depths I cry to you, O Lord!
2 O Lord, hear my voice!
Let your ears be attentive
to the voice of my pleas for mercy!

3 If you, O Lord, should mark iniquities,
O Lord, who could stand?
4 But with you there is forgiveness,
that you may be feared.

5 I wait for the Lord, my soul waits,
and in his word I hope;
6 my soul waits for the Lord
more than watchmen for the morning,
more than watchmen for the morning.

O Israel, hope in the Lord!

For with the Lord there is steadfast love,

and with him is plentiful redemption.

And he will redeem Israel
from all his iniquities.

In an age of information, it seems odd we are to adhere rigidly to a set of ideas. To be taught doctrine all this year - we have had so much time to consider ourselves and those closest to us.

Rick Warren did a Sermon I recall with ease. His point was to Stand in God's Promises to you and believe He has made you.

Psalm 139
I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.
Wonderful are your works;
my soul knows it very well.
15 My frame was not hidden from you,
when I was being made in secret,
intricately woven in the depths of the earth.
16 Your eyes saw my unformed substance;
in your book were written, every one of them,
the days that were formed for me,
when as yet there was none of them.

17 How precious to me are your thoughts, O God!
How vast is the sum of them!

Rick Warren's point was clear.

Judges 6

14 The LORD turned to Gideon and said, “Go in the strength you have and deliver Israel from the hand of Midian. Am I not sending you?”

15 And he said to him, “Please, Lord, how can I save Israel? Behold, my clan is the weakest in Manasseh, and I am the least in my father's house.”

16 And the Lord said to him, “But I will be with you, and you shall strike the Midianites as one man.”

The Midianites are the people who sheltered Moses. He married into the Midianite Culture. Which explains the Sermon well. Rick says he spends a lot of time with his Parish unraveling poor self-esteem.

People who have been told they disappoint their parents, spouses, children, friends. Instead, we find allies and allegiances always have some points of strain. We should always be more like Gideon. Ready to hear God asking us to step up in action, words, mercy and believe we are God's Precious, Chosen and Loved Child.

To each other - we reduce each other in ways we don't understand. Paul said we sin when we don't even know we are sinning.

Romans 7:15-20
15 I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do. 16 And if I do what I do not want to do, I agree that the law is good. 17 As it is, it is no longer I myself who do it, but it is sin living in me. 18 For I know that good itself does not dwell in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. 19 For I do not do the good I want to do, but the evil I do not want to do—this I keep on doing. 20 Now if I do what I do not want to do, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it.

Rick Warren doesn't see us, or his congregation, as people who got the Soccer Award for Showing Up. He sees us as all putting strain upon each other. And it's not always parental fault or spousal or child fault. Children in Kindergarten are sure of their talents, by age 18 doubt their own abilities. We listen too readily, to ourselves, about having flaws.

God tells us we Walk in the Light.

Psalm 3:3
But you, LORD, are a shield around me, my glory, the One who lifts my head high.

We also face relationship, community, family and ourselves to God Almighty honestly. We don't paint a sunny, false narrative and live there for ourselves. We embrace the Truth.

Abba,

Mark 12:30
Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.

Encourage us to Love You first. To find more Heaven on earth to see as You see.

Acts 10:38
How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and power, and how he went around doing good and healing all who were under the power of the devil, because God was with him.

To embrace in us all that is tender and merciful and to realize Prayer makes opportunities. To not fall down in hoping for Goodness in jaded reality.

Romans 5:6
You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly

To remember daily, the Generosity of our Good and Willing Father to save the world in Jesus Christ.

2 Corinthians 12:9
But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for My Power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me.

To Believe in the Power of God. To not only see more Heaven on earth, but Give Heaven.

God finds a way to bring Life to His Good. We want to see this more clearly with faith. Believe. Accepting the mercy and Grace Father God provides.

Philippians 2:13
For it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose.

Like God tells us, we want to trust Happiness. Not to dampen down hope. To see all others in a fog of what we call realism. And in trusting Joy, we rejoice with those who Rejoice believing in the Abundant Love and Ability Abba has.

Nehemiah 8:10
Do not grieve, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.

All people fear. Pray for those who fear. Abba kept the Disciples who had fear quite a lot. So not punish yourself to have anxieties. Pray for God's Balm. The Holy Spirit calls this Comfort and Himself, Comforter.

Isaiah 41:10
So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

The Promises of God are true and for you.

Exodus 15:2
The Lord is my strength and my song; he has given me victory.

AMEN

13 And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

The Holy Spirit carried men along, moving and guiding them as they wrote in their own words what God wanted them to say. The Bible is unique; comprised of 80 separate books, & written over a period of thousands of years by more than 40 writers with one Author, spanning the centuries, different states of peace & war & different situations in life. The Bible answers the question: of who is God, who is man & what can their relationship can be. Although the Bible was written on perishable material and copied by hand for many centuries, its accuracy is not in doubt, proven by Dead Sea Scrolls and papyrus from 2,000 years. The Bible has survived persecution & criticism to be read with great interest in each generation. The Bible gives witness to the greatness of the Creator. A loving Father concerned for all of his creation. With each verse of the bible witnessing to God is love and the multitude & vastness of His attributes. The Bible was written for you. <><
