Psalm 90
1 Lord, you have been our dwelling place [refuge]
in all generations.in all generations.2 Before the mountains were brought forth,or ever you had formed the earth and the world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God.
in all generations.in all generations.2 Before the mountains were brought forth,or ever you had formed the earth and the world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God.
3 You return man to dustand say, “Return, O children of man!” [children of Adam]
4 For a thousand years in your sightare but as yesterday when it is past,or as a watch in the night.
4 For a thousand years in your sightare but as yesterday when it is past,or as a watch in the night.
5 You sweep them away as with a flood; they are like a dream, like grass that is renewed in the morning:6 in the morning it flourishes and is renewed;in the evening it fades and withers.
7 For we are brought to an end by your anger;by your wrath we are dismayed.8 You have set our iniquities before you,our secret sins in the light of your presence.
9 For all our days pass away under your wrath;we bring our years to an end like a sigh.10 The years of our life are seventy,or even by reason of strength eighty;
yet their span [pride] is but toil and trouble;they are soon gone, and we fly away.11 Who considers the power of your anger, and your wrath according to the fear of you?
yet their span [pride] is but toil and trouble;they are soon gone, and we fly away.11 Who considers the power of your anger, and your wrath according to the fear of you?
12 So teach us to number our daysthat we may get a heart of wisdom.13 Return, O Lord! How long?Have pity on your servants!14 Satisfy us in the morning with your steadfast love, that we may rejoice and be glad all our days.15 Make us glad for as many days as you have afflicted us,and for as many years as we have seen evil.16 Let your work be shown to your servants, and your glorious power to their children.17 Let the favor [beauty]of the Lord our God be upon us,and establish the work of our hands upon us;yes, establish the work of our hands!
- Satisfy us in the morning with your steadfast love,
that we may rejoice and be glad all our days.
We are invited, always, to pray - in supplication - to our Father when life gives us "opportunities for solutions". Paul had such faith he looked beyond the point causing discomfort to see how Father God would inter-weave it for good. Paul wanted to see what glory God would bring from weakness.
In difficulties, Paul would rejoice.
2 Corinthians 12:9
“My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. 10 For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong.
I give great thanks to a Literature Professor at Texas A&M. She gave me a life skill tool, useful 2 decades later and today. Instead of repeating a mistake, I look for a permanent solution deliberately. I had problems doing alter guild. And my sister-in- Christ Cindy stepped along side me and partnered with me. Later, Cindy would go with Edward and me to see Judith MacNutt for Valentines weekend in 2015, where she, Justine, Donna and Steve would stay all weekend to worship and pray with Edward and me, and for Edward's health.
God provides a Professor who gave a good life skill. God provides a solution. God provides a kind sisters and brothers in Christ. God rules in an orderly fashion and gives us smooth worship. Just as Jesus sent 70 disciples out in pairs of two. Thank you, Father God, for our Church family & Your steadfast Love. In Jesus' name. Amen.
