Psalm 86
A Prayer of David.
Abba, Father God,
Incline your ear, O Lord, and answer me,
for I am poor and needy.
2 Preserve my life, for I am godly;
save your servant, who trusts in you—you are my God.
3 Be gracious to me, O Lord,
for to you do I cry all the day.
4 Gladden the soul of your servant,
for to you, O Lord, do I lift up my soul.
5 For you, O Lord, are good and forgiving,
abounding in steadfast love to all who call upon you.
6 Give ear, O Lord, to my prayer;
listen to my plea for grace.
7 In the day of my trouble I call upon you,
for you answer me.
8 There is none like you among the gods, O Lord,
nor are there any works like yours.
9 All the nations you have made shall come
and worship before you, O Lord,
and shall glorify your name.
10 For you are great and do wondrous things;
you alone are God.
11 Teach me your way, O Lord,
that I may walk in your truth;
unite my heart to fear your name.
12 I give thanks to you, O Lord my God, with my whole heart,
and I will glorify your name forever.
13 For great is your steadfast love toward me;
you have delivered my soul from the depths of Sheol.
14 O God, insolent men have risen up against me;
a band of ruthless men seeks my life,
and they do not set you before them.
15 But you, O Lord, are a God merciful and gracious,
slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness.
16 Turn to me and be gracious to me;
give your strength to your servant,
and save the son of your maidservant.
17 Show me a sign of your favor,
that those who hate me may see and be put to shame
because you, Lord, have helped me and comforted me.
In the Name of Jesus, we'd ask to be covered in the Name of Jesus and those we
Love and the people you've give us. Amen.

David has a problem. Insolent men have risen against him. David anointed of God - before his birth because our days are written in the Book of Life. Who might the insolent men be? David comes up against his father Jesse - who didn't want to bother the Prophet Rabbi Samuel with young David. His brothers mocked him for wanting to fight Goliath. His first wife abandoned him. Saul disliked David in compan most of Saul's sons and concubine's sons.
David resided in a Ziklag ditch, close to the border between Gath and Judea. From Ziklag, he lead raids against the Geshurites, the Girzites and the Amalekites, but lead King Achish to believe he was attacking the Israelites in Judah, the Jerahmeelites and the Kenites. Philistines war against Saul. David returned to Ziklag. Finding Jonathan and Saul killed in battle, and David was anointed king over Judah.
Insolence in the north, would come from Saul's son Ish-Bosheth anointed king of Israel, and war ensues until Ish-Bosheth is murdered.
David is never happy with Joab. David hideously fought with 3 of his sons. And a troublemaker named Sheba son of Bicri from the tribe of Benjamin. Basically David has - conflict.
We find out Chronicles is from the 4th Century B.C. and feel we have found the house is wallpapered after it burned down. However, it's important to know:
1 Chronicles 29
29 Now the acts of King David, from first to last, are written in the Chronicles of Samuel the seer, and in the Chronicles of Nathan the prophet, and in the Chronicles of Gad the seer, 30 with accounts of all his rule and his might and of the circumstances that came upon him and upon Israel and upon all the kingdoms of the countries.
Chronicles well supports 1 and 2 Samuel.
David has a history of 'Writing the Book on Prayer'. Jesus was asked rather abruptly to give the specifics on power to get Answered Prayer. David was not really asked, which might be due David's success in being King and fairly busy. David does a lot of directing to set up Solomon's building the Temple. It's never recorded David is asked about being God's Anointed. Yet David had plenty of down time to consider how to ask God about events in his life.
We have established David has his struggles.
David is genuinely impressed God would just take time to listen to David.
David is searching for something we love about Father God - David is always looking for the part of God making Him our Father.
David wants Father God to remember David is going to trust God. And obey.
David wants God to know he is not just wasting God's time, this is a sincere prayer.
David assures our Father this prayer is about God's Glory. David is not just 'taking'.
David feels genuinely he should have God's support for David's good heart. David is seeking to learn from God what to do. He wants God to teach him. David is aware God is for all of mankind. David is not looking for care alone from God - David fully expects God's help and to be able to see results from a Gracious Father God.
These are Ivory eating and serving utensils found in the site of King David's Palace. Avid reminders of noble vessels for very human people.
Some of what David sees in his prayer life - is unique and important. The gratitude just for God to listen. David does not take gratitude lightly. The obvious Heart of God has David appreciating a Fatherly God. We understand David talks to God all the time. David is assuring God this is 'the one prayer' to listen to - please.
And in knowing all we know about David - we know we have Blessed God praying with Jesus like John 17. A great comfort to know Jesus would pray with us in prayer. Living water of God continually doing more we can ask or imagine. And the pure comfort of knowing the Word of God is Alive and Working!!!
