Luke 11:1-13
Now Jesus was praying in a certain place, and when he finished, one of his disciples said to him, “Lord, teach us to pray, as John taught his disciples.” 2 And he said to them, “When you pray, say:
“Father, hallowed be your name.
Your kingdom come.
3
Give us each day our daily bread,
4
and forgive us our sins,
for we ourselves forgive everyone who is indebted to us.
And lead us not into temptation.”
5 And he said to them, “Which of you who has a friend will go to him at midnight and say to him, ‘Friend, lend me three loaves, 6 for a friend of mine has arrived on a journey, and I have nothing to set before him’; 7 and he will answer from within, ‘Do not bother me; the door is now shut, and my children are with me in bed. I cannot get up and give you anything’?
8 I tell you, though he will not get up and give him anything because he is his friend, yet because of his impudence he will rise and give him whatever he needs.
9 And I tell you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. 10 For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened.
11 What father among you, if his son asks for a fish, will instead of a fish give him a serpent; 12 or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? 13 If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!”
Scripture rests with other Scripture and in our understanding presents a picture or a lesson we can follow.
A path.
A journey.
A road traveled in relationship. Just as the Lords Prayer rounds us out.
Revelation 1:6
and has made us to be a kingdom and priests to serve his God and Father—to him be glory and power for ever and ever! Amen.
Yours is the Kingdom, the Power and the Glory forever and ever! Amen.
Philippians 2:9
Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus EVERY KNEE WILL BOW, of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth
The Lord's Prayer encompasses all aspects of Prayer and is perfect in that these are His Words.
We add on our own conversational prayer and we just ask in the name of Jesus. Father God tells us just to talk to Him. And David found if he kept talking to God, God would reveal the Delight Father God has in abundant, highest, wide, Love there is.
So the audacity and impudence of expectant prayer has a beautiful parallel in the Words of Jesus.
Luke 18:1-8
18 And he told them a parable
to the effect that they ought always to pray and not lose heart.
2 He said, “In a certain city there was a judge who neither feared God nor respected man. 3 And there was a widow in that city who kept coming to him and saying, ‘Give me justice against my adversary.’ 4 For a while he refused, but afterward he said to himself, ‘Though I neither fear God nor respect man, 5 yet because this widow keeps bothering me, I will give her justice, so that she will not beat me down by her continual coming.’”
6 And the Lord said, “Hear what the unrighteous judge says.
7 And will not God give justice to his elect, who cry to him day and night? Will he delay long over them? 8 I tell you, he will give justice to them speedily. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on earth?”
Who wants to be Equipped to Fulfill the Plan of God?
To live is Christ to die is gain. In the prayers of our thoughts to Father God, and we know HE loves so much of the chitter chatter of our day and our thoughts,
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
16 Rejoice always; 17 pray without ceasing; 18 in everything give thanks; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.
Luke 9:43
And they were all amazed at the greatness of God. But while everyone was marveling at all that He was doing.
Jesus is going with us.
Mark 10:32
They were now on the way up to Jerusalem, and Jesus was walking ahead of them. The disciples were filled with awe
How to Daily Journey with Jesus to find His Help in Times of Need along our Journey with Jesus.
We are being led and becoming equipped to do what He asks us to do. Father God promises us not to forsake us. He shows us in Hebrews 11 we will be equipped, helped, comforted, led, and in triumph to give the Plan He gives us to walk in. When we say God's plan is a hope and a future for us - Father God meets us, to help us to live in hope, faith, peace, love and joy - in expectation.
When we say we rejoice in our sufferings - we are saying life might be a wild ride, but in Jesus we can accomplish this and look back and say - "We did that" and be the woman in Proverbs 31 who "laughs at the time to come."
Now the God of peace, who brought up from the dead the great Shepherd of the sheep through the blood of the eternal covenant, even Jesus our Lord - equip us in every good thing to do His will, working in us what is pleasing in Your sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be the glory forever and ever.
We cast our cares to You, Father God, like Peter cast out his net. Working in the direction You'd have us go. We put out our wildest cares to Jesus remembering, You touched the leper and held on. Remembering that You put Your saliva and mud on eyes worn out. Remembering You went through those waiting by a Pool to be healed and You healed. We remember You sat with those in Trouble and we lift Up to You, the ones we love and the People You have given us. Knowing that Your love cradles them as You longed to embrace all of Jerusalem.
We entrust our futures, our Nation, Nations and the People of God to be encouraged, enfolded and re-energized to Go Forth to Bring More Heaven to Earth. Your Plan. Your Will - be done. In Jesus' Great Love. Amen.
