A Very old Archaeology of Darius King of the Persian Achaemenid Empire releases the Slaves of Judah to return home to rebuild the Temple in Jerusalem.
James Tissot
Haggai 1:12-15
Then Zerubbabel, son of Shealtiel, and the high priest Joshua, son of Jehozadak, and all the remnant of the people* obeyed the LORD their God, and the words of Haggai the prophet, since the LORD their God had sent him; thus the people feared the LORD.
13 Then Haggai, the messenger of the LORD, proclaimed to the people as the message of the LORD: I am with you!—oracle of the LORD.
14 And so the LORD stirred up the spirit of the governor of Judah, Zerubbabel, son of Shealtiel,
And the spirit of the high priest Joshua, son of Jehozadak
And the spirit of all the remnant of the people
So that they came to do the work in the house of the LORD of hosts, their God,
15 on the twenty-fourth day of the sixth month in the second year of Darius the king.
The Temple would start out small. And include vast Remnants of Solomon's Portico - where Jesus would teach.
Jeremiah 33
10 "Thus says the LORD: In this place of which you say, 'It is a waste without man or beast,' in the cities of Judah and the streets of Jerusalem that are desolate, without man or inhabitant or beast, there shall be heard again 11 the voice of mirth and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom and the voice of the bride, the voices of those who sing, as they bring thank offerings to the house of the LORD
"'Give thanks to the LORD of hosts, for the LORD is good, for his steadfast love endures forever! 'For I will restore the fortunes of the land as at first, says the LORD.
12 "Thus says the LORD of hosts: In this place that is waste, without man or beast, and in all of its cities, there shall again be habitations of shepherds resting their flocks. 13 In the cities of the hill country, in the cities of the Shephelah, and in the cities of the Negeb, in the land of Benjamin, the places about Jerusalem, and in the cities of Judah, flocks shall again pass under the hands of the one who counts them, says the LORD.
14 "Behold, the days are coming, declares the LORD, when I will fulfill the promise I made to the house of Israel and the house of Judah.
15 In those days and at that time I will cause a righteous Branch to spring up for David, and he shall execute justice and righteousness in the land.
16 In those days Judah will be saved, and Jerusalem will dwell securely.
And this is the name by which it will be called: 'The LORD is our righteousness.'
"For thus says the LORD: David shall never lack a man to sit on the throne of the house of Israel, 18 and the Levitical priests shall never lack a man in my presence to offer burnt offerings, to burn grain offerings, and to make sacrifices forever." 19 The word of the LORD came to Jeremiah
And Governor Zerubbabel, son of Shealtiel - he is really the Davidic Line becomes Governor. "The Throne of Israel" is a reference to the Throne of the United Monarchy. A conditionalization of the unconditional dynastic promise to David's house expressed in 1 Kings 11:36, 15:4 and 2 Kings 8:19.
Both unconditional and conditional promises to the House of David would create intense discord.
And the Plan of God is always fulfilled.
When we think of Stained Glass - we are reminded God takes mere sand and with fire creates meaningful beauty. A meaningful analogy - of God rebuilding from sorrow or tragedy in our lives. It's impossible Israel would exist again - and does. Even after thousands of years.
With God all things are Possible.
Stained glass still survives in the European Cathedrals seen by Charlemagne. And yet... in the great wars - new methods were created for new stained glass.
God is Highly in Favor of Building up of Jerusalem, homes, Temple, Community, City Walls - even in impossible circumstance. Jesus often said, "Rise."
Heaven would be far more Steadfast Creation. Eternal. What was fragile, is made Eternal. To the Glory of God.
Revelation 21: 17b-21
Measurement - which is also an angel’s measurement. 18 The wall was built of jasper, while the city was pure gold, like clear glass. 19 The foundations of the wall of the city were adorned with every kind of jewel.
The first was jasper, the second sapphire, the third agate, the fourth emerald, 20 the fifth onyx, the sixth carnelian, the seventh chrysolite, the eighth beryl, the ninth topaz, the tenth chrysoprase, the eleventh jacinth, the twelfth amethyst. 21 And the twelve gates were twelve pearls, each of the gates made of a single pearl
And the street of the city was pure gold,
like transparent glass.
John lived on Patmos Island. The Beloved Disciple had not seen Stained Glass. The ideas of the Eternal belong to our Father God.
What Father God can create even from unusual colored Stone.
