5 And He said to them,
“Which of you who has a friend will go to him at midnight and say to him, ‘Friend, lend me three loaves, 6 for a friend of mine has arrived on a journey, and I have nothing to set before him’; 7 and he will answer from within, ‘Do not bother me; the door is now shut, and my children are with me in bed. I cannot get up and give you anything’?
8 I tell you, though he will not get up and give him anything because he is his friend, yet because of his impudence he will rise and give him whatever he needs.
9 And I tell you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. 10 For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened.
11 What father among you, if his son asks for a fish, will instead of a fish give him a serpent; 12 or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion?
If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the Heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!”
We had a very fine Friday today. Sunshine, cooler temps. Bravo. Then a rain for an hour with a very soft, nice rain. We live on a pond and the rain was falling so gently. It was a real enjoyment during an autumn drought small season.
My son called, and we had a fun phone call discussed his projects in building skyscrapers and an underground garage for a hospital. He is being promoted, again, and will be on the first floor, meeting clients and quoting their projects. It turns out that skyscrapers are, on average, about $10 million per floor. Floored me. He holds a master's in construction from an engineering department. As a small boy, he loved his building blocks and requested more architectural blocks. The photo we love is of our oldest child at age 5, congratulating his 3-year-old brother on his wooden block skyscraper. The joy of congratulations and of doing something he clearly loves.
Their first child will arrive in June, and they will be looking for their first home in the early spring. We told old stories and talked about baby cribs. My son has an excellent personality and is generous of heart and calm. It is a wonderful season for him and for them.
We went to a restaurant nearby we have been intending to try, and this was superlative. Such a beautiful, and welcoming place.
And this evening I have a raging sinus headache. Yet, the day and the season are very optimistic for us all.
Hold fast to our Blessings!
