Psalm 130 ~ If you, O Lord, should mark iniquities, O Lord, who could stand?

Psalm 130

A Song of Ascents.

Out of the depths I cry to you, O Lord!
2 O Lord, hear my voice!
Let your ears be attentive
to the voice of my pleas for mercy!

3 If you, O Lord, should mark iniquities,
O Lord, who could stand?
4 But with you there is forgiveness,
that you may be feared.

5 I wait for the Lord, my soul waits,
and in his word I hope;
6 my soul waits for the Lord
more than watchmen for the morning,
more than watchmen for the morning.

 O Israel, hope in the Lord!

For with the Lord there is steadfast love,

and with him is plentiful redemption.

And he will redeem Israel
from all his iniquities.

In an age of information, it seems odd we are to adhere rigidly to a set of ideas. To be taught doctrine all this year - we have had so much time to consider ourselves and those closest to us.

Rick Warren did a Sermon I recall with ease. His point was to Stand in God's Promises to you and believe He has made you.

Psalm 139
I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.
Wonderful are your works;
my soul knows it very well.
15 My frame was not hidden from you,
when I was being made in secret,
intricately woven in the depths of the earth.
16 Your eyes saw my unformed substance;
in your book were written, every one of them,
the days that were formed for me,
when as yet there was none of them.

17 How precious to me are your thoughts, O God!
How vast is the sum of them!

Rick Warren's point was clear.

Judges 6

14 The LORD turned to Gideon and said, “Go in the strength you have and deliver Israel from the hand of Midian. Am I not sending you?”

15 And he said to him, “Please, Lord, how can I save Israel? Behold, my clan is the weakest in Manasseh, and I am the least in my father's house.”

16 And the Lord said to him, “But I will be with you, and you shall strike the Midianites as one man.”

The Midianites are the people who sheltered Moses. He married into the Midianite Culture. Which explains the Sermon well. Rick says he spends a lot of time with his Parish unraveling poor self-esteem.

People who have been told they disappoint their parents, spouses, children, friends. Instead, we find allies and allegiances always have some points of strain. We should always be more like Gideon. Ready to hear God asking us to step up in action, words, mercy and believe we are God's Precious, Chosen and Loved Child.

To each other - we reduce each other in ways we don't understand. Paul said we sin when we don't even know we are sinning.

Romans 7:15-20
15 I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do. 16 And if I do what I do not want to do, I agree that the law is good. 17 As it is, it is no longer I myself who do it, but it is sin living in me. 18 For I know that good itself does not dwell in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. 19 For I do not do the good I want to do, but the evil I do not want to do—this I keep on doing. 20 Now if I do what I do not want to do, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it.

Rick Warren doesn't see us, or his congregation, as people who got the Soccer Award for Showing Up. He sees us as all putting strain upon each other. And it's not always parental fault or spousal or child fault. Children in Kindergarten are sure of their talents, by age 18 doubt their own abilities. We listen too readily, to ourselves, about having flaws.

God tells us we Walk in the Light.

Psalm 3:3
But you, LORD, are a shield around me, my glory, the One who lifts my head high.

We also face relationship, community, family and ourselves to God Almighty honestly. We don't paint a sunny, false narrative and live there for ourselves. We embrace the Truth.

Abba,

Mark 12:30
Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.

Encourage us to Love You first. To find more Heaven on earth to see as You see.

Acts 10:38
How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and power, and how he went around doing good and healing all who were under the power of the devil, because God was with him.

To embrace in us all that is tender and merciful and to realize Prayer makes opportunities. To not fall down in hoping for Goodness in jaded reality.

Romans 5:6
You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly

To remember daily, the Generosity of our Good and Willing Father to save the world in Jesus Christ.

2 Corinthians 12:9
But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for My Power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me.

To Believe in the Power of God. To not only see more Heaven on earth, but Give Heaven.

God finds a way to bring Life to His Good. We want to see this more clearly with faith. Believe. Accepting the mercy and Grace Father God provides.

Philippians 2:13
For it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose.

Like God tells us, we want to trust Happiness. Not to dampen down hope. To see all others in a fog of what we call realism. And in trusting Joy, we rejoice with those who Rejoice believing in the Abundant Love and Ability Abba has.

Nehemiah 8:10
Do not grieve, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.

All people fear. Pray for those who fear. Abba kept the Disciples who had fear quite a lot. So not punish yourself to have anxieties. Pray for God's Balm. The Holy Spirit calls this Comfort and Himself, Comforter.

Isaiah 41:10
So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

The Promises of God are true and for you.

Exodus 15:2
The Lord is my strength and my song; he has given me victory.

AMEN

13 And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

John 15:1-12 ~ Love each other as I have loved you.

John 15:1-12

“I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. 2 He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful. 3 You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you. 4 Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.

5 “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. 6 If you do not remain in me, you are like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned. 7 If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. 8 This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples.

9 “As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love. 10 If you keep my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commands and remain in his love. 11 I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete. 12 My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you.

When the Lord's Purpose is more than we could understand, we rely on God to be God. Mighty God of All. And we bring to all circumstances the basic direction of Jesus Christ. And when we allow God to help us, we are found. In any and all times.

The Wisdom of God is Higher than we are.

Isaiah 5:7
The vineyard of the LORD Almighty is the nation of Israel, and the people of Judah are the vines he delighted in. And he looked for justice, but saw bloodshed; for righteousness, but heard cries of distress.

Isaiah 42:6
“I am the Lord; I have called you in righteousness;
I will take you by the hand and keep you;
I will give you as a covenant for the people,
a light for the nations

Isaiah 49:6
He says:
“It is too light a thing that you should be my servant
to raise up the tribes of Jacob
and to bring back the preserved of Israel;
I will make you as a light for the nations,
that my salvation may reach to the end of the earth.”

Proverbs 21:15
When justice is done, it is a joy to the righteous but terror to evildoers.

Amos 5:24
But let justice roll down like waters, and righteousness like an ever-flowing stream.

Isaiah 1:17
Learn to do good; seek justice, correct oppression; bring justice to the fatherless,
plead the widow's cause.

Isaiah 30:18
Therefore the Lord waits to be gracious to you,
and therefore he exalts himself to show mercy to you.
For the Lord is a God of justice; blessed are all those who wait for him.

Jesus the Exact Nature of God.

Hebrews 1:3
He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power.

And all Scriptures refer to God as, 'he'. When we quote the Scriptures, we add, "His Glory." As proper Worship.

The events of the day are boggling. And so is this year.  Isaiah was misunderstood even as the Gospels unfold. The Nations coming to His Brightness, knocked at Herod's door to see The King. The Word of God tells us we will know in part and imperfectly. And this leaves room for the working of the Holy Spirit. And in the New Covenant, God allows us to do our best and allow God to do far Better. Recently, and not oddly for the year, I was involved in a discussion of suffering. Who has not suffered this year? We won't always completely understand the Works of God, and God allows us to be His Child.

Isaiah is as challenging today, as yesterday for the Magi. Isaiah allows us to broaden where we think we are or should be. To see ourselves, and the times, with a new seat at the Banquet God provides for us. Just as our soul finds Infinite God our Father.

And in giving the preface Scriptures of Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow,  we are nourished to receive the Words of God.

The Word of God places us above temporary concerns. We Rise to God.

Isaiah 5

Let me sing for my beloved
my love song concerning his vineyard:
My beloved had a vineyard
on a very fertile hill.
2 He dug it and cleared it of stones,
and planted it with choice vines;
he built a watchtower in the midst of it,
and hewed out a wine vat in it;
and he looked for it to yield grapes,
but it yielded wild grapes.

3 And now, O inhabitants of Jerusalem
and men of Judah,
judge between me and my vineyard.
4 What more was there to do for my vineyard,
that I have not done in it?
When I looked for it to yield grapes,
why did it yield wild grapes?

5 And now I will tell you
what I will do to my vineyard.
I will remove its hedge,
and it shall be devoured;
I will break down its wall,
and it shall be trampled down.
6 I will make it a waste;
it shall not be pruned or hoed,
and briers and thorns shall grow up;
I will also command the clouds
that they rain no rain upon it.

7 For the vineyard of the Lord of hosts
is the house of Israel,
and the men of Judah
are his pleasant planting;
and he looked for justice,
but behold, bloodshed

for righteousness,
but behold, an outcry!

8 Woe to those who join house to house,
who add field to field,
until there is no more room,
and you are made to dwell alone
in the midst of the land.

9 The Lord of hosts has sworn in my hearing:
“Surely many houses shall be desolate,
large and beautiful houses, without inhabitant.
10 For ten acres of vineyard shall yield but one bath,
and a homer of seed shall yield but an ephah.”
11 Woe to those who rise early in the morning,
that they may run after strong drink,
who tarry late into the evening
as wine inflames them!
12 They have lyre and harp,
tambourine and flute and wine at their feasts,
but they do not regard

the deeds of the Lord,
or see the work of His Hands.

13 Therefore my people go into exile
for lack of knowledge;
their honored men go hungry,
and their multitude is parched with thirst.
14 Therefore Sheol has enlarged its appetite
and opened its mouth beyond measure,
and the nobility of Jerusalem and her multitude will go down,
her revelers and he who exults in her.

15 Man is humbled, and each one is brought low,
and the eyes of the haughty are brought low.

16 But the Lord of hosts is exalted in justice

16 But the Lord of hosts is exalted in justice,
and the Holy God shows himself holy in righteousness.
17 Then shall the lambs graze as in their pasture,
and nomads shall eat among the ruins of the rich.

18 Woe to those who draw iniquity with cords of falsehood,
who draw sin as with cart ropes,

19 who say: “Let him be quick,
let him speed his work
that we may see it;

let the counsel of the Holy One of Israel draw near,
and let it come, that we may know it!”

20 Woe to those who call evil good
and good evil,
who put darkness for light
and light for darkness,
who put bitter for sweet
and sweet for bitter!

21 Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes,
and shrewd in their own sight!
22 Woe to those who are heroes at drinking wine,
and valiant men in mixing strong drink,
23 who acquit the guilty for a bribe,

and deprive the innocent of his right!

24 Therefore, as the tongue of fire devours the stubble,
and as dry grass sinks down in the flame,
so their root will be as rottenness,
and their blossom go up like dust;
for they have rejected the law of the Lord of hosts,
and have despised the word of the Holy One of Israel.
25 Therefore the anger of the Lord was kindled against his people,
and he stretched out his hand against them and struck them,
and the mountains quaked;
and their corpses were as refuse
in the midst of the streets.

For all this his anger has not turned away,
and his hand is stretched out still.

26 He will raise a signal for nations far away,
and whistle for them from the ends of the earth;

and behold, quickly, speedily they come!
27 None is weary, none stumbles,
none slumbers or sleeps,
not a waistband is loose,
not a sandal strap broken;
28 their arrows are sharp,
all their bows bent,
their horses' hoofs seem like flint,
and their wheels like the whirlwind.

29 Their roaring is like a lion,
like young lions they roar;
they growl and seize their prey;
they carry it off, and none can rescue.
30 They will growl over it on that day,
like the growling of the sea.

And if one looks to the land,
behold, darkness and distress;
and the light is darkened by its clouds.

1 John 3:18
Little children, let us not love in word or talk but in deed and in truth.

About Me

My photo
Email registry at bottom.! “All Scripture is inspired by God” (2 Timothy 3:16). Men “moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God” (2 Peter 1:21). The Holy Spirit carried men along, moving and guiding them as they wrote in their own words what God wanted them to say. The Bible is unique; comprised of 80 separate books, & written over a period of thousands of years by more than 40 writers with one Author, spanning the centuries, different states of peace & war & different situations in life. The Bible answers the question: of who is God, who is man & what can their relationship can be. Although the Bible was written on perishable material and copied by hand for many centuries, its accuracy is not in doubt, proven by Dead Sea Scrolls and papyrus from 2,000 years. The Bible has survived persecution & criticism to be read with great interest in each generation. The Bible gives witness to the greatness of the Creator. A loving Father concerned for all of his creation. With each verse of the bible witnessing to God is love and the multitude & vastness of His attributes. The Bible was written for you. <><
