Psalm 130

1 Out of the depths I cry to you, O Lord!

2 O Lord, hear my voice!

Let your ears be attentive

to the voice of my pleas for mercy!

3 If you, O Lord, should mark iniquities,

O Lord, who could stand?

4 But with you there is forgiveness,

that you may be feared.

5 I wait for the Lord, my soul waits,

and in His word I hope;

6 my soul waits for the Lord

more than watchmen for the morning,

more than watchmen for the morning.

7 O Israel, hope in the Lord!

For with the Lord there is steadfast love,

and with Him is plentiful redemption.

8 And He will redeem Israel

from all his iniquities!

We have seen His glory, the Glory of the One and Only Son, 

Who came from the Father,

 full of grace and truth.

We watched the "Mary" December 6th film yesterday.  

I read the information published when "Passion of the Christ" was released in 2004. The script is the liturgy of the Catholic Church. A Historical Reenactment done by Catholics and the Church of England Anglican and Episcopalian Good Friday Services. Methodists Churches and Presbyterian Churches do the same. The Historic reenactment is called The Way of the Cross. Based upon the Scriptures and also Mystics who do what Prophecy is, Prophecy is one voice, that of the Holy Spirit. The Mystics go back from the 1400 to 600 AD. The Catholic Church records their vision of Jesus Christ, and then before allowing the vision to be studied, verifies the facts. The mystics usually did not know each other and didn't know their vision was the one voice of the Holy Spirit. The vision overlap.  The Way of the Cross is their visions woven together. Holding up over these many centuries.

And in this, I expect a Film to be Scripture-based about Mary. It was entertainment, but actually deleted and changed Luke 1 and 2. Omitted the few and important Scriptures. Uninformed. Misrepresented. Antisemitic.

Mary and Joseph wander the Sahara desert. Never does the arid area of Israel look worse. Not authentic.

It would be understandable to fluff up human interaction and emotion, but deleting 50% of Scripture isn't acceptable to me. My husband said, turn this off. The costumes? Movies often refer to other references that are tie in. Like Morpheus in The Matrix. The Temple costumes were, in fact, identical to the middle age jester costumes.  You certainly didn't have to know history to see the costuming was more than foolish, these costumes mocked religion and the Jews. Antisemitic.  This is not what we hope for. Ever.

The History of Mary includes a Christmas Miracle of Unity.

Beyond Unity.

The miracle of Peace in the Temple, representing Peace on earth for ALL.

The welcoming of Mary and Joseph with God's Only Son, as they were received in the Temple as an unwed mother and fiancé with infant son. Not because they invented Mary as "a child nun" with parents failing to explain the movie's destiny of Mary.

Mary's Parents are one opinion one moment and the next off to never see them again. As if. This history is for boys and men. Men train to be priests.  Back to marriage sprung on oppressed women. So, one minute, add in a nunnery that did not exist. Next, create the oppression of men on women regarding marriage. 

Omit, omit, omit. OMIT Branch of David Scriptures. David's Davidic Line for the Salvation of God's Mystery, Might and Plan. 

Never explaining the taciturn and unwelcoming, unsmiling, un majestic guy named Gabriel. In blue. Heaven, in the Scriptures, is white clothing. Again, Gabriel appears in the Sahara Desert. If the movie wanted to be authentic, someone with some knowledge should have assisted in this.

Omissions with the Antisemitic nature, omit Scriptures Luke 1 verses 5 to TWENTY THREE, when the majestic, Archangel Gabriel appears in.... gasp, where the Jester hat people work and worship. The Temple of God in Jerusalem. Where Jesus worshiped God.  Omit Zechariah meeting Gabriel, who stands in the presence of GOD. Omit Zechariah. Omit the family relationship. Omit prior knowledge, now, Surprise to his wife Elizabeth about Mary. Omit majestic leaping in the womb, just some baby kicking.  No miracle there. No miracle there. No miracle there. 

Lotta water down of bias. The movie vision of Gabriel is less than dramatic or spectacular. Yep, the wind blew his muffler. In the Sahara.

Psalms 130:7

Israel, put your hope in the LORD, for with 

the LORD is unfailing love 

and 

with Him is full redemption.

 

Luke 2:14-18

    for you will go before the Lord to prepare His ways,

to give knowledge of salvation to His people

because of the tender mercy 

of our God.

    Whereby the sunrise shall visit us from on high

to give light to those who sit in darkness and in the shadow of death,

    to guide our feet into the way of peace.

The Pharisees never were happy after talking with Jesus

Luke 20:27-40

There came to Him some Sadducees, those who deny that there is a resurrection, 28 and they asked Him a question, saying, “Teacher, Moses wrote for us that if a man's brother dies, having a wife but no children, the man must take the widow and raise up offspring for his brother. 29 Now there were seven brothers. The first took a wife, and died without children. 30 And the second 31 and the third took her, and likewise all seven left no children and died. 32 Afterward the woman also died. 33 In the resurrection, therefore, whose wife will the woman be? For the seven had her as wife.”

And Jesus said to them, 

“The sons of this age marry and are given in marriage, 35 but those who are considered worthy to attain to that age and to the resurrection from the dead neither marry nor are given in marriage, 36 for they cannot die anymore, because they are equal to angels and are Sons of God, being Sons of the Resurrection. 

But that the dead are raised, even Moses showed, in the passage about the bush, where He calls the Lord the God of Abraham and the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob. 

Now He is not God of the dead, but of the Living, 

for all 

live to Him. 

Then some of the scribes answered, “Teacher, you have spoken well.”  For they no longer dared to ask Him any questions.

The Pharisees have binary logic. They ask if and if and if and if. They start out of their level and take on the Kingdom of God.

Jesus answers on an entirely more Beautiful Level.  

God's Plan, His Kingdom, The Worthy, The Sacraments, and Angels. God over All. God of the Living. Equal to Angels. Sons of the Resurrection. Sons of God. What Jesus has to say is incredibly more enduring and fills hearts with hope and faith.

The Scriptures are Heaven's Words. And the Scriptures tell us of His Word.

Jesus isn't building for tomorrow, even in 33 A.D., Jesus is building our hearts, for 2 Milleniums with hopes, inner being in the strength of God.  His Words give Strength.  

Proverbs 16:24

Gracious words are like a honeycomb,

Isaiah 2:1-11 ~ Exalted in that day

Isaiah 2:1-11

It shall come to pass in the latter days

    that the mountain of the house of the Lord

shall be established as the highest of the mountains,

    and shall be lifted up above the hills;

and all the nations shall flow to it

And many peoples shall come, and say:

“Come, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord,

    to the house of the God of Jacob,

that He may teach us His Ways

    and that we may walk 

in His Paths.”

For out of Zion shall go forth the law,

    and the Word of the Lord 

from Jerusalem.

 He shall judge

between the nations,

    and shall decide disputes for many peoples

And they shall beat their swords into plowshares,

    and their spears into pruning hooks;

nation shall not lift up sword against nation,

    neither shall they learn 

war anymore.

5 O house of Jacob,

    come, let us walk

    in the Light of the Lord.

The Day of the Lord

6 For You have rejected Your people,

    the house of Jacob,

because they are full of things from the east

    and of fortune-tellers like the Philistines,

    and they strike hands with the children of foreigners.

7 Their land is filled with silver and gold,

    and there is no end to their treasures;

their land is filled with horses,

    and there is no end to their chariots.

10 Enter into the rock

from before the terror of the Lord,

The lofty looks of man shall be humbled, 

and the haughtiness of men shall be bowed down, 

and 

The Lord alone shall be exalted in that day.

The Lord loves parables about life on earth, the fullness of the earth, His Good Creation - is where He loves us to observe and remember the height of the sky is the Limitless Love of The Lord.

We have all loved a day on the water. And if you are dehydrated or simply tired, the light on the water can become a terrible headache. 

Isaiah is chosen for 2 millenniums for us to read in the Season of Advent, preparing for the arrival of Jesus Christ. The birth of a baby, usually, a time remembered with such joy.

And Isaiah, The Great and Loving Prophet of the Most High God. The Almighty's Messenger, seems to work like a set of Christmas Lights.

The On Light twinkles away. The incredible and amazing language we cannot forget. They are the unmistakable, heart-warming and thundering Word of God. Once in our souls, they will never diminish with Love and Encouragement.

And just as suddenly, The Road turns to become the "Days will Come" Jesus Christ wrote about in His Gospels.

Isn't the immediate reaction, to return to the Comfort. The Help.  And yet, we know in our inner being, our eternal fire and soul - This Is Our God.

And, being sincere, we all long to have the Liturgy just magically and comfortably, deliciously, keep us in the sunshine passages. Our minds do think a like here, because we are all the same. Fallen from the Glory of God and requiring a Savior in Jesus Christ.  We are the people of God.  And our minds fire up with Help, Helper, Comfort, Comforter. 

We could look at the layer of Isaiah forever. God does! And this complicated Prophet helps us see the layers of the Season of Christmas.  And in being seen, Isaiah was seen, we are in sincere comfort.

God believes, as our Father, we can handle the musical change ups. The Words of Frank Honesty.  He does not speak to us as children, but as souls reaching into the eternal reasoning the Holy Spirit gives us.

And in this Truth of Jesus Christ, we do find the real Comforter.

What Isaiah 2 brings to me, this 2024th Birthday of our Lord Jesus Christ, will not be identical to your reading.   The Living Word of God. 

And God knows. He says Nations and the world read His Word and Decisions.  The impact of all of these layers gives us Peace to say God's Good Will be done on earth as in Heaven.

I recently read a Sunni Muslim woman wrote Christmas is a form of witchcraft. And I could understand this viewpoint if you wanted the world to be followers of Muhammad. The Love that flows from the Celebration of Jesus Christ coming into the world, truly has redemption.  Explained by teaching us to keep The God of Love, God of Encouragement in our heart. Our manner of life. Keeping Christmas in our Hearts daily.  Even when the day has clouds of joy and serious duty requiring our more serious nature.

I loved reading about Sunday in Russia in the time of the Czars. Saturday was a double duty chore day, early morning, past late at Night. The result, Sunday could have all the areas of the country in age, money and customs put on their best festival clothing, resting in a clean house and land, eating the best cooking of the week, and resting like a Lord.  And all enjoyed Sunday, going to Church, feasting, resting and seeing the fruit of their labors - wishing for Heaven for this joy to be perpetual and unending. 

Today's reading of Isaiah helps us to understand the press to cover Christmas with all our attention and balance life to be without the Russian jolt of Monday morning. The tempers of pressed to work and pressed to do so many items on the list. Santa had it easy to have a list to only Check Twice. 

Isaiah even covers the longing for Christmas Joy is tempered with the Christmas to do list. 

Isaiah's complete honesty, like the Lights that bounce on a Christmas Tree. On the same strand, created for Joy and Beauty.  We are created for Joy and Beauty. And also for the making the path straight. Our lives bring together Nations in peace and harmony, not chaos.  The Lord Says. Wondrously and Unforgettably.
