Psalm 30 ~ You have drawn me up

Psalm 30

A Psalm of David. A song at the dedication of the temple.

I will extol you, O Lord, for you have drawn me up
and have not let my foes rejoice over me.
2 O Lord my God, I cried to you for help,
and you have healed me.
3 O Lord, you have brought up my soul from Sheol;
you restored me to life from among those who go down to the pit.

4 Sing praises to the Lord, O you his saints,
and give thanks to his holy name.
5 For his anger is but for a moment,
and his favor is for a lifetime.
Weeping may tarry for the night,
but joy comes with the morning.

6 As for me, I said in my prosperity,
“I shall never be moved.”

7 By your favor, O Lord,
you made my mountain stand strong;
you hid your face;
I was dismayed.

8 To you, O Lord, I cry,
and to the Lord I plead for mercy:
9 “What profit is there in my death,
if I go down to the pit?
Will the dust praise you?
Will it tell of your faithfulness?

10 Hear, O Lord, and be merciful to me!
O Lord, be my helper!”

11 You have turned for me my mourning into dancing;
you have loosed my sackcloth
and clothed me with gladness,

12 that my glory may sing your praise and not be silent.

O Lord my God, I will give thanks to you forever!

That's pretty incredible.

JRSLM 300116 Tel Dan Stele 01.jpg

Tel Dan Stele, Israel Museum, turned David from Pere Noel to History - telling the truth. The Bible is Accurate.

David was not introduced to The High Priest Samuel when he visited. In fact, Samuel had to call out David's father Jesse to have David brought forth from the fields. Samuel didn't enjoy the omission and had the whole family stand to wait for David to arrive.

David grew up considering the History of Israel and the Bible. David considered the giants of Scripture.

Father God was not wasting David's time.

We all have hobbies. We might collect stamps, family stories, needle point, sew, saw, build - God is developing our interests.

David's family lived in a natural ditch for a time and David led an army.

David became King after 4 various descendents of Saul lost their lives. In fact, David had four coronations as he became King of all of Israel. And after David became King, he found he needed to have another interest after his children were born.

David began to collect items and artwork and Temple Tools like Moses and Aaron used. David knew God would make this part of God's Story.

And David would sing God's Praises forever. And so the faithful have Psalm 30.

Abba,

In difficult times, help guide the faithful to be pleasing in meditation and the words of my mouth.

We always seek to have Jesus pleased with in us. Living.

Father God, we are grateful for the end of the worn out and grateful to begin with You.

We always need Jesus Christ, Son of God. Amen.

Psalm 133 ~ precious oil on the head, running down

Happy New Years from our Backyard this Christmas!

Psalm 133

A Song of Ascents. Of David.

Behold, how good and pleasant it is
when brothers dwell in unity!

It is like the precious oil on the head,
running down on the beard,
on the beard of Aaron,
running down on the collar of his robes!

It is like the dew of Hermon,
which falls on the mountains of Zion!

For there the Lord has commanded the blessing,
life forevermore.

Why did David in the Holy Spirit remember Aaron in this Psalm?
Time marches on for us all. Aaron has 336 mentions in the Old Testament and then he has 5 mentions in the New Testament. Yet David remembers Aaron well past his life on earth. 22 times in Chronicles and Samuel and 9 times in the Psalms.

Something about Aaron speaks to David, in his heart. For 22 years, David is put aside from being anointed by God. Moses tells God of the Burning Bush he doesn't speak well and God answers.

Exodus 4

10 But Moses said to the Lord, “Oh, my Lord, I am not eloquent, either in the past or since you have spoken to your servant, but I am slow of speech and of tongue.”

11 Then the Lord said to him, “Who has made man's mouth? Who makes him mute, or deaf, or seeing, or blind? Is it not I, the Lord? 12 Now therefore go, and I will be with your mouth and teach you what you shall speak.”

13 But he said, “Oh, my Lord, please send someone else.”

14 Then the anger of the Lord was kindled against Moses and he said, “Is there not Aaron, your brother, the Levite? I know that he can speak well. Behold, he is coming out to meet you, and when he sees you, he will be glad in his heart. 15 You shall speak to him and put the words in his mouth, and I will be with your mouth and with his mouth and will teach you both what to do. 16 He shall speak for you to the people, and he shall be your mouth, and you shall be as God to him

Why isn't David more about Moses? The first thing Moses says to Father God is this:

Exodus 3:4

When the Lord saw that he turned aside to see, God called to him out of the bush, “Moses, Moses!”
And he said, “Here I am.”

Consider what Moses really wants to know about God:
13 Then Moses said to God, “If I come to the people of Israel and say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you,’ and they ask me, ‘What is his name?’ what shall I say to them?”

14 God said to Moses, “I am who I am.” And he said, “Say this to the people of Israel: ‘I am has sent me to you.’” 15 God also said to Moses, “Say this to the people of Israel: ‘The Lord, the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you.’ This is my name forever, and thus I am to be remembered throughout all generations.

This is an Incredible Answer. One of the Largest Answers in Scripture.
Huge. Awesome. Astonishing. Truly.

Moses has captured God. Moses first words to God are, "Here I am."
They are so in tandem, they are good friends immediately. This is Love.

And David is interested in Aaron.
Why?

Exodus 3
7 Then the Lord said, “I have surely seen the affliction of my people who are in Egypt and have heard their cry because of their taskmasters. I know their sufferings, 8 and I have come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians and to bring them up out of that land to a good and broad land, a land flowing with milk and honey, to the place of the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Amorites, the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites. 9 And now, behold, the cry of the people of Israel has come to me, and I have also seen the oppression with which the Egyptians oppress them.

When God finishes speaking of the plural people of Egypt and Israel, in which He includes Pharaoh, the first singular person God tells Moses about - is his birth brother, Aaron.

God knows the sufferings of Aaron. Aaron is being brought to a good and broad land, a land flowing with milk and honey.

Aaron can speak well. Behold, he is coming out to meet you, and when he sees you, he will be glad in his heart.

When we put this together we find Aaron speaks well to God in his heart. God has heard Aarons cry, suffering and wants to deliver Aaron so strongly that Aaron bravely has left slavery to recover Moses. The most emotion here is gladness of heart.

Acts 13:22 says, “After removing Saul, he made David their king. He testified concerning him: ‘I have found David son of Jesse a man after my own heart; he will do everything I want him to do.‘”

When God opens the Holy of Holies - He invites... Aaron.

This is a lesson on being open-hearted, hospitable, taking time and trouble to go far out of his way. Aaron speaks well - to GOD! We can all become older and more comfortable. Aaron is going to show up. Aaron is second fiddle and Aaron is just glad to be here. Part of the team.

David is the same. God could have invited Moses only to the Holy of Holies. This is where mankind admits there are flaws in us. And blood and mess is shaken all over the Holy of Holies. It's a Mess.

Itunes gift.

You never know what the Goys are going to show up with. What they hold reverent. It can be surprising, overwhelming. What Itunes will be playing. What mess will happen?

You think next year Aunt Mabel will host?

When we consider who has well-oiled hair... we think of Gangsters and long-time film stars. Fonzie. Aaron is not really mentioned as the collared man in the robe. The M.O. - modus operandi = of Aaron is escaped slave. Gutsy. Glad heart, oiled head, speaks up well. Will support his brother. Isn't choosy about who is top dog, as in self-motivated pushy. An escapee slave who will appear before Pharaoh and not hot dog leadership. Willing to talk to Pharaoh. Aaron is a freedom fighter. Taking some incredible risks. The Scriptures explain we love God because He loves us first. And Aaron becomes the first Priest. Aaron makes mistakes. Upsets his brother. Dances with the wrong crowd. Repents.

And David wants to speak of Aaron. The man invited by God and not feeling especially Blessed. Yet not turning away from God. Living with miracles like the Budding Almond Staff and dealing with insurrection and possible doom in the desert of real life. Aaron has a youthful, willing heart. When we see David celebrating the roaring Living Water of Mt. Hermon, we see a spring visit with plenty of work to do the celebrating.

We can tell why David is enthralled with Aaron.

We can rely on Aaron to host the shindig next year with glee.

Email registry at bottom.! “All Scripture is inspired by God” (2 Timothy 3:16). Men “moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God” (2 Peter 1:21). The Holy Spirit carried men along, moving and guiding them as they wrote in their own words what God wanted them to say. The Bible is unique; comprised of 80 separate books, & written over a period of thousands of years by more than 40 writers with one Author, spanning the centuries, different states of peace & war & different situations in life. The Bible answers the question: of who is God, who is man & what can their relationship can be. Although the Bible was written on perishable material and copied by hand for many centuries, its accuracy is not in doubt, proven by Dead Sea Scrolls and papyrus from 2,000 years. The Bible has survived persecution & criticism to be read with great interest in each generation. The Bible gives witness to the greatness of the Creator. A loving Father concerned for all of his creation. With each verse of the bible witnessing to God is love and the multitude & vastness of His attributes. The Bible was written for you. <><
