We approach Thanksgiving. Psalm 18 is both the Passover Psalm and the Evening Prayer Psalm. Both celebrate Safety. Passover from survival, from what is scary out there. Knowing even what is frightening, is not frightening to the Lord God. And the Evening Prayer Psalm, being able to go outside the Town walls, in the evening, to attend Evening Prayer. Celebration of endurance to hope for the future.
The Lord, presenting these as part of the history, woven into recovery, is filled with assurance and love. The Psalm is presented as a Responsive Prayer. God is responding to the prayers of His Beloved.
Malachi 3
13 “Your words have been hard against me, says the Lord. But you say, ‘How have we spoken against you?’ 14 You have said, ‘It is vain to serve God. What is the profit of our keeping his charge or of walking as in mourning before the Lord of hosts? 15 And now we call the arrogant blessed. Evildoers not only prosper but they put God to the test and they escape.’” 16 Then those who feared the Lord spoke with one another.

Salome probably had an idea that killing off John the Baptist wasn't really working His Purpose.
And yet, she did what was put in her path instead of fighting for right.

All Four Gospels

The Diatessaron, interpreted as “Harmony of Four” Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John yet placed in his own order by Tatian, Christian writer from 160 A.D. Diatessaron combines 4 canonical Gospels into a single harmonious narrative. Tatian preserved the wording of the Gospels, he put the verses in a different sequence.
Tatian was from Assyria and was known to live in Rome and then Tatian established a Mesopotamian school known to be recreated in Antioch, Cilicia and Pisidia.
How do we know the information in the Gospel is correctly done?
We arrive at this heartfelt belief by faith.
Peter died in 64 AD in Rome. During his last stay in Rome, Mark had written the Gospel of Mark chapters the Romans wanted to learn and discuss the most. John, the Beloved Disciple, on Patmos in 90 AD discussed the 4 Gospels already written and known. This Gospel would have been written by c. 50 A.D.
Herodias and Antipas Herod would be only deceased by only a decade.
Both Gospels of Matthew and Mark state the Herodias whom Herod Antipas married was the wife of Antipas' brother "Philip", a fact supported by Roman and Judean Historian General Josephus. Josephus indicated Herodias was the wife of Herod II (aka Philip I). Philip the Tetrarch rebuilt the city of Caesarea Philippi, calling it by his own name to distinguish it from the Caesarea on the sea-coast, which was the seat of the Roman government.
'Salome' Herod II (aka Philip I) was married to was historically possible a half-sister by that same name, a daughter of Herod the Great and his 8th wife Elpis. This sibling Salome was born in ~14 BC, and so only five years younger than Herod Philip (a more realistic age gap). Marriage to 1st cousins and uncles, however, was relatively common in the so-called Herodian dynasty.
Herodias isn't the main story of this Mark's Gospel, 6th Chapter. Yet, Herodias is a large moving component. Her departure from the confines of modern, upwardly mobile behavior in her 2 marriages becomes child abuse and manipulation, jealousy and then murder. This behavior puts Herodias into history. Evidently, Herodias has no other achievement.
God of All, uses this behavior to show the right and wrong seen in The Book of Judges, each man determines his own righteousness, can betray good intentions. Herod Antipas liked to listen to the Sermons of John the Baptist. Herod Antipas understood John the Baptist was of the Holy Spirit. Herodias offers Herod Antipas no real harbor and incites Herod Antipas to have his legacy become Murder of John the Baptist. It is the forefront of Herod Antipas's life. Of all their days, this day is what all 3 are remembered as their deliberate part of life.
This Chapter also is a lesson on when to say, "No!" Jesus told us when to hate the actions of family.
Luke 14:25-33
25 Now great crowds accompanied him, and he turned and said to them,
26 “If anyone comes to me and does not hate his own father and mother and wife and children and brothers and sisters, yes, and even his own life, he cannot be my disciple.

Abba, Father,
Abba, we see examples every day, mankind and man and me have fallen. It is the beauty and wonder of seeing where You are there. We have fallen. We need Jesus.
We have marveled, saying to one another, “Who then is this, that he commands even winds and water, and they obey him!”

We ask Your mercy on my mom, struggling with Covid.
We have spent 7 days having 3 trips to Dallas. (Mother's immediate family has been gone from Dallas since 2003. And about 2016, Mother lost the ability to make conversation due to Alzheimer's.) And then two days in pajamas. One day, due to resting and the next due to upset stomach and my ankle just quit, then I fell down brick stairs, one, and twisted my ankle the wrong way to the knee.
We did art balloons and a DJ who sang to the Building. My mom was awake to hear and waved the 2nd day from the balcony. The DJ was good to us in philanthropy. Then we were asked if we wanted to fill out sets of forms renouncing liability to enter the building with 5 active cases of Covid. No. We were roughly kidded this was a sheer sign of insanity. No, we want to avoid carrying the virus forward. We have more family in another Assisted Living facility, who wants us to visit them in Dallas, too. Not weeks from now. And Edward had one of the 3 trips we returned home because he was covered in Poison Ivy or Sumac. This got worse when I hung up, I thought, a clean shirt, not knowing it was worn into the rash mess. Then I had a rash, too. Edward said, can you see taking off the PPE clothing, accidentally touching the wrong part and coming home with Covid? He could see that as a fierce possibility. Then the dogs both had whooping cough and then an ear infection. Why. Maybe stress. Maybe empathy. Definitely God. No, we decided, as my brother said from Mexico, that if Mother was well, she would never want to endanger people she loves.
My ankle got amazingly better the second day. I'm very amazed, pleased and thank God.
God told us He would always leave a remnant. His Mercies Renew.
Today, we got a call from Hospice. Along with the nurses, their Hospice Chaplain is volunteering to visit my mother each day. She saw my mom the Friday before she was ill. And she has been reading Scripture to my mother and singing to her. Mother has been in and out of being responsive since last Thursday. And my mother nodded for this wonderful Chaplain.
This has been the Light, I wondered where this would come from. I know my father's dream, he had 80 times, but I wondered where the moment was where I said to myself, "I see Jesus." Today, I felt like John's Gospel Chapter 21, Jesus on the Beach, had arrived. I am so relieved and touched, I have seen Jesus today. The phone Rang, announcing Jesus is visiting.
38% of all Americans have at least one experience knowing they have lived a miracle. And more feel like they have felt God's Hand or Heart move. I felt this today. Jesus had arrived.
I could see for a year, probably two years, my mother struggled within her body with her lifelong faith. Never in her life did my mother leave Jesus. He might have a few things to say to her, but Jesus knows, and my mother knows, Jesus is someone my mother has always loved.
My father's dream was described to me about 80 times over about ten years.
My father dreamed consistantly he died fairly young. I'd just seen Rip Van Winkle and he did agree to this more than insisting he died, died. Yes, Daddy died in 1993, at the age of 62. The dream from God was correct.
My father dreamed our house, the one he built with my mother as newlyweds would become huge like Biltmore, but really more like John's Gospel, Chapter 14. In My House are many Mansions. Daddy described walking through many styles and for a long, long time and finally recognizing our house was part of the Huge House. And our house became part of a Jewish Synagogue's Youth Ministry on Grammercy Road in Dallas, Texas 75230. Huge. The dream from God was correct.
Daddy dreamed my mother would date the neighbor who visited them in France. My parents divorced in 1981. My mother hadn't seen our neighbor Jack in decades. In 1997, my mother ran into Jack at a party and he was surprised to find my mother was divorced. Jack had been a widower since 1986. The Dream was correct.
The Dream had shown Daddy my mother remarried to Jack. Then the dream changed and they had not married. Life occurred and Jack asked my mother to marry him in 2003, they had an argument over football. Jack never repeated the offer. Saying he never intended to remarry. The Dream had been correct.
My father said the Dream showed him my brother and I would move away from Dallas. My mother's entire large family would be gone and she would love Dallas and stay by herself. John would move to the desert in Texas. He said we would not be a close family. My mother said and did act as if she never wanted grandchildren. The Dream was correct.
My father said one day, I would be out of Dallas and I'd get a call my mother was in Heaven. The Dream was correct. We can't be in her Nursing Facility.
My mother is in a Care Facility named after a Huge House. The Dream was correct.
Daddy said she would be waiting for him near the front door of the Huge House and Jack would be holding her hand until my father came to do the job Jesus had given my father to Guide my mother in Heaven. We will take this part of the Dream, in faith.
My Father said he would be sent to guide my mother into Heaven and this was a delight to him and something he would treasure all his days.
