Romans 10 ~ faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ

This True.
We have a Historical Trail.

Papyrus 46 of Philippians is something to remember. Critics say the New Testament was created in the Roman Empire's need to create a document of Christ.

Papyrus 46 dates to the first or second century and has written history of AD 110 to 140 by Polycarp.Polycarp had a
role to authenticate orthodox teachings through his connection with the Apostle John: "a high value was attached to the witness Polycarp could give as to the genuine tradition of old apostolic doctrine." Polycarp was a disciple of the beloved disciple John on Patmos. The Harris fragments tell of this connection claiming John was engaged in a battle with the Jews over Religious Law and the Divinity of Jesus, Gnostics. And this was linking John and the Martyrdom of Polycarp. The text of the Harris Fragments on Polycarp and John raises discussions on martyrdom and apostolicity, the earliest history of the important Christian communities.

We have not only Bishop Papias. And in the generation after Polycarp, then Irenaeus' letter below. He was the Bishop of Lugdunum in Gaul. The three bishops form a historical chain. Witnessing to John's old age and vibrant struggle.

Romans 10

Brothers and sisters, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for the Israelites is that they may be saved. 2 For I can testify about them that they are zealous for God, but their zeal is not based on knowledge. 3 Since they did not know the righteousness of God and sought to establish their own, they did not submit to God’s righteousness.

4 Christ is the culmination of the law so that there may be righteousness for everyone who believes.

5 Moses writes this about the righteousness that is by the law: “The person who does these things will live by them.”

6 But the righteousness that is by faith says: “Do not say in your heart, ‘Who will ascend into heaven?’” (that is, to bring Christ down) 7 “or ‘Who will descend into the deep?’” (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead). 8 But what does it say? “The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart,” that is, the message concerning faith that we proclaim:

9 If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved. 11 As Scripture says, “Anyone who believes in him will never be put to shame.” 12 For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile—the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, 13 for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

14 How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? 15 And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!”

16 But not all the Israelites accepted the good news. For Isaiah says, “Lord, who has believed our message?” 17 Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ. 18 But I ask: Did they not hear? Of course they did:

“Their voice has gone out into all the earth,
their words to the ends of the world.”

19 Again I ask: Did Israel not understand? First, Moses says,

“I will make you envious by those who are not a nation;
I will make you angry by a nation that has no understanding.”

20 And Isaiah boldly says,

“I was found by those who did not seek me;
I revealed myself to those who did not ask for me.”

21 But concerning Israel he says,

“All day long I have held out my hands
to a disobedient and obstinate people.”

We pray knowing God hears us! We know what we know what we know. To see Jesus sitting in a today situation is inspiring, reassuring, comforting and peaceful.

The Bible assures us Jesus sat comfortably being with people, hearing them, teaching and Loving.

Not only the Pharisees and Sadducees sought to influence Jesus.

Mark 10
35 And James and John, the sons of Zebedee, came up to him and said to him, “Teacher, we want you to do for us whatever we ask of you.” 36 And he said to them, “What do you want me to do for you?” 37 And they said to him, “Grant us to sit, one at your right hand and one at your left, in your glory.” 38 Jesus said to them, “You do not know what you are asking. Are you able to drink the cup that I drink, or to be baptized with the baptism with which I am baptized?” 39 And they said to him, “We are able.” And Jesus said to them, “The cup that I drink you will drink, and with the baptism with which I am baptized, you will be baptized, 40 but to sit at my right hand or at my left is not mine to grant, but it is for those for whom it has been prepared.”

John went on to recover from this and said this about Jesus:

John 21
Jesus did many other things as well. If every one of them were written down, I suppose that even the whole world would not have room for the books that would be written.

And in all the Books of the Bible - Covering Millenniums  - God never once said to any of His Children - Thank you for judging one of the children. I really needed your help.

Romans 11:34
"Who has known the mind of the Lord? Or who has been his counselor?"

My grandmother Bit had been married to an Episcopal priest. She had always given love and a sympathetic ear. She never returned my father's cold shoulder to her with unkindness. She had always spoken well of my grandfather who died before I was born. Who had the nickname of Pos - for playing Possum from his salad days. I never heard her cut someone else down. She told me story after story of her childhood. She spoke well of her grandmothers who lived with them as children. She loved to tell of her uncle. She spoke well of her neighbors. She was thrilled my step-grandfather's parish accepted her so easily. She drank way too much. Grandmother Bit made sure we had Christmas money to spend for gift giving. We had summer camp and horse back riding lessons from my grandmother. Vacations. Grandmother provided my college and my car.

Three of her four great-grandchildren are named for Bit and because of her. And the day came 1986 that I knew to expect - the last week of her life - "come to the nursing home"  where cancer had just fallen that week. I had just been telling Nadine about my grandmother when the intercom called me to the phone to say - come now - come swiftly. I went back to Nadine and couldn't even speak. My mouth opened and closed. And finally I pointed - - - Nadine said she understood - go fast.

My daddy and I sat for about three hours watching my very southern Grandmother in a receiving line we could not see and names of people gone on Home. Grandmother adored all the people she shook double hands with. And after she greeted each person and had gracious conversation with them - Grandmother would look at the ceiling and say, "I'm ready to come home, Father. Today?"

She reached a lady named Mary and had about a four or five minute conversation with Mary. And my father's mouth fell to his chest. I asked him why. He explained Mary had died at age 42. She had been their good friend and neighbor in the late 1940s. Their next door neighbor. Mary knew Grandmother had always loved Mary's house better than her own house. Mary asked Grandmother to buy her house and live there with Mary's love. I asked my dad why he looked so shocked. He said Mary's children had been older - and here was Mary telling Grandmother about her children's marriages - their grandchildren and great-grandchildren their college educations, marital status and jobs.

I didn't know what to reply. So my father said - the names are all right of the children - but the rest of the grandchildren were unborn in the 1940s and this was just so detailed for someone in a semi-comatose-delirium state.

I promise you, I had never seen my father so amazed and stunned.

"Father, today, today may I come home?"

Grandmother Bit rarely spoke of her deep and abiding faith. She lived loving her Father God and expecting His promises to her to be fulfilled. I'm happy to say, of the several dreams I've had of visiting with my Grandmother in Heaven, my life has expanded - the narrow path on the way where I know Jesus calls us Home to live. The fruit of those decades long dreams is as vivid today as the time they were envisioned. I know we go Home to Jesus Christ the Lord.

Abba,

Your Willing Blessings are like Manna. We thank You for Your Blessings.

We ask for more Heaven on earth. For ourselves and cares. For those we love. For the people You have given us. For our Nation in Trusting You. The Nations blessed in Jesus Christ. And all of the earth - Your children surrounding Your Creation in prayer.

For our own prayer requests of Peace, healing and our friend to be healed of cancer.

In Jesus we pray. Amen.

Romans 10:9 ~ Believe

Romans 10:9

If you declare with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

At age 16, I was asked to decide if God was who He said He is. And Jesus His exact nature. My heart felt the Lord and I never looked back.

The Scriptures are alive with Love.
When we seek Jesus as people, part of mankind, we find Jesus. Being asked by Jesus to tell what I've found about Him Alive and Working, I will do this.

I've found deep and abiding Love for the actions of John.
All the way to Patmos and being adopted by God and by Mary. I believe in the abiding goodness God said He finds in mankind. The Disciple John reflects what mankind is capable as loving.

Looking from the shore of Patmos to the cave of John.

The Salvation of Matthew is so very warm in Matthew, starting the warmth in Chapter 1. Tailored in his understanding of Father to Son. A Tax Collector who wants to see the proof written, to avoid what could be labeled as 'oral history'.

I believe in Luke. The Genealogy of Luke 3 in placed backwards. Changing Jesus to the Highest. Backwards to change to include His Mother's family - inclusive of women. I believe in the Love Luke had as a Doctor for the people he could put his hand on and love, pray and heal.

I believe the Life style and the findings of Love in John are lifetime learning. I believe every WORD of God has strength and is placed in infinity of Love.

You shall see greater things than these, Jesus said.
I believe Paul is the Witness of inclusion of Josephus' astonishment the Christians have not dispersed after Jesus was crucified. I believe Paul is witness to the Glory Jesus found in greater things you will see.

I believe in the Glory of Jesus taking His mottled band of Disciples to Caesarea to even explain the rock of Peter's burial is God interweaving all things to His Glory and to the Goodness Peter would approve.

I believe Jesus entirely when He says Life is Joy.
I believe Jesus laughed when he told he Blind man formerly Blind not to go into the Village. I believe Numbers 6 is a puzzle the Gospels tell like the sun rising directly at the Temple placement aligning with the hills. I believe the Gospel is all about Jesus lifted His Face and, and ... and, and ... and,  and Smiled and Laughed.

Abba,

Bless Your Children. Your willing Blessing upon us.

Our Lord bless us, and keep us;

Our Lord Father God make His face shine on you,

And be gracious to you;

Our Father, The Lord lift up His countenance on you, smile

And give you peace.

We invoke and live in the Name of Jesus

Looking and believing You will bless us with More Heaven on earth.

And for the people we pray healing upon. Freedom and wellness of our dear friend.

Amen in our Jesus!!!

Luke 1:67-79 ~ Mercy

Luke 1:67-79

67 And his father Zechariah was filled with the Holy Spirit and prophesied, saying,

68 “Blessed be the Lord God of Israel,
for he has visited and redeemed his people

69 And has raised up a horn of salvation for usin the house of his servant David

70 As he spoke by the mouth of his holy prophets from of old,

71 that we should be saved from our enemies
and from the hand of all who hate us;
72 to show the mercy promised to our fathers
and to remember his holy covenant,
73 the oath that he swore to our father Abraham,

To grant us that we, being delivered from the hand of our enemies,

might serve him without fear,
75 in holiness and righteousness before him all our days.

76 And you, child, will be called the prophet of the Most High;
for you will go before the Lord to prepare his ways

To give knowledge of salvation to his people in the forgiveness of their sins
because of the tender mercy of our God

whereby the sunrise shall visit us [dawn upon us] from on high

79 to give light to those who sit in darkness and in the shadow of death,
to guide our feet into the way of peace.”

An angel appears to Zechariah during his rotation of offering Incense at that Altar in the Temple of the Lord. In other words, Zechariah is not in the Temple every day. It is an important occasion and there are people praying for him in another part of the Temple.

Zechariah is filled with trouble and fear at the sight of Gabriel, but didn't grab the horns of the altar for refuge. Instead he asks for a sign. (Instead of believing his wife is expecting?!) Why is Zechariah able to prophesy after the birth of his son?

Zechariah is without fear. He is righteous, again, before God's eyes. Zechariah is living forgiveness in the tender mercy of God.

because of the tender mercy of our God,
the sunrise shall dawn upon us from on high
to give light to those who sit in darkness and in the shadow of death,
to guide our feet into the way of peace

Rick Warren's book "40 Days of Love" made a wonderful exploration of Love, Mercy and Forgiveness. The real life story about overcoming when forgiveness is part of life and grand gestures are not appreciated. God's Children - His people overcome and forgive

Jacob was named Israel for his great capacity to want to bless. Not all wanting to bless is sought or appreciated. We can't lavish all the time. Mercy isn't always appreciated.

The Prophetic Story of Jesus is marvelous because God Himself Lavishes on Jesus - the path for Lavish God.

And then we finally get the opportunity to have mercy and no one wants it. This might have happened to Jacob. We never see Jacob's sons living with Jacob. He passed on. And with his last will, Jacob blesses his sons. When studying the blessings, we find reality. And dreams. Flee is in the Scriptures 132 times. Jacob blessed them acknowledging who they really are.

Israel is named for a man wanting to Bless. When unbelievable circumstances have been there. Jacob does not white wash any tombs, he makes brass tacks and rock foundation work. Jacob even fought God to find a way to bless his sons, those he loved. Jacob is a Blessing taker, Blessing seeker, Blessing fighter and a Blessing to endure hard circumstance to be a Blessing Gifter. To us all.

The Scriptures are important in telling us to Love the Lord our God foremost. Utmost. And in second place is us. Jesus Christ died for you. And me.

We learn to treat others as we want to be treated. And yet we are not God.

We are not to:

Take Revenge.
Curse God.
Give into Sexual Sin. To be bonded with what we do not fully comprehend.
Worry about idols. Sometimes this would say worrying about other's motivations.
Work out our own salvation with fear and trembling. Seriously.

Flee.
God says leave Sexual Sin. Depart.
Wrath.
Sorcery.
Murder.

God wants to Save the World in Jesus Christ.

What He primarily asks us to do is walk with God. In Goodness and Mercy.
Knowing God is God and God asks us to treat others as we would be treated.

Flee 132 times. When did Jesus Flee.

He did not. Jesus did not Flee. Yet as Resurrected Jesus, He made priorities to be with 500 people. Jesus being God knew that He was making incredibly valuable time count. We know for a fact, Jesus forgave the Romans, the Centurions and even Herod and Pontius Pilate. And what Jesus gave the others than the 500 was time, their own time for what they would do with this Forgiveness.

We can see the complete and amazing Scope of Jesus Forgiveness in sending His Beloved into Rome itself. And in endurance, Caesarea is an astonishing Prophecy of Jesus. This is Indeed where Jesus Built His Church.

Rick Warren explained recovering from Divorce does not mean to move in with an ex-spouse. In fact, The Old Testament records signing up for this kind of suffering will insure decay and rot. We do not sign up for suffering. God took all the really outrageous things out by explaining about tremendous trouble in Leviticus and the other Pentateuch Books.

When Paul tells us to Rejoice in Suffering, he has, also, in the Holy Spirit said do not be surprised at the fiery burdens of life. The Scriptures never have Jesus showing us someone plucking out the eye or cutting off their arm. Nor did Jesus have dinner with Caiaphas.

We are to be here to reason. We are to be Wise as in Proverbs to Discern. The Purpose of Job is Discerning and Enduring with Hope. Job finally found real peace with God's Real Plan. Mercy. God Loved Job for expecting Mercy. Life bent Job up and down. God found Job worthy to set on the real foundation. Job was like the woman Jesus purposely encountered in Tyre - Job was not going to leave God - even if Job is the dog under the table with scraps. Job expected the Mercy of God. The Syrophoenician woman longed, longed for the Mercy of God to fall on her beloved child.

So then in human being terms, is Paul just whacked out of his mind as Governor Felix yelled at Paul? Does Paul want to suffer?

I'd love to know how Paul reacted to that. Did he laugh? Did he weep? Did he feel embarrassed (no). Did he just saintly perceiver? Jesus is the Word of God. Paul uses words and Paul took on more challenge than most of us would. (Hello.) Paul used what God used. Words. Jesus told us to Speak Up. With Mercy. With Love.

Paul is an overwhelming Study in loving people around you. Proverbs has said wisely place your heart. Evidently, Paul wisely placed His Heart.

The Life of the People of Scriptures is the reality of the harsh and bewildering ways Life can knock the stuffing out of you. Meeting the Mercy, Goodness, Strength and Encouragement of God. All their flaws. All their virtues, Shine only in God.

Consider Stained Glass. It is art, but it is harsh broken items held up to the Light. Mere sand, put through fire. Tested. Placed. Replaced. Part of a Plan.

Jesus Christ the Lord, we ask Father God
to Bless us and Keep us
and Make Your Face to Shine upon us.

To know our cares and compassions. To forgive our flaws and weakness.
We ask for Your Graciousness.

We want to be Blessing Seekers. To ask for Your Willing Blessings
on our infirmities and Heal us. We love to ask Your Blessings.
Help us to be a Blessing.

Thank You for Your Blessings. Our Hope and Future. Today, Yesterday and, also, Tomorrow.

Bless those we love with health, healing from cancer and from illness - upset stomach and headache requiring antibiotics.

Lift Your Face and Smile upon us.
Carry our Nation to Trust in You.
Bless Nations who seek You and Your Light.
Bless the Children of God asking You for more Heaven on earth.

Give us the Amazing Gift of Peace.
Peace so Magnificent this is Your own Peace.
The assurance of You. God's own Peace.

We ask with all our heart, mind and soul to be
Covered in the Name of Jesus.

And Your Blessing of more Heaven on earth.

In the Highest Name of Jesus. Amen.

1 Samuel 16:1-13 ~ Surely the Lord

1 Samuel 15:34
Then Samuel went to Ramah, and Saul went up to his house in Gibeah of Saul.

Ramah is where Samuel's parents lived.

1 Samuel 16:1-13

The Lord said to Samuel, “How long will you grieve over Saul, since I have rejected him from being king over Israel? Fill your horn with oil, and go. I will send you to Jesse the Bethlehemite, for I have provided for myself a king among his sons.”

2 And Samuel said, “How can I go? If Saul hears it, he will kill me.”

And the Lord said, “Take a heifer with you and say, ‘I have come to sacrifice to the Lord.’ 3 And invite Jesse to the sacrifice, and I will show you what you shall do. And you shall anoint for me him whom I declare to you.”

4 Samuel did what the Lord commanded and came to Bethlehem. The elders of the city came to meet him trembling and said, “Do you come peaceably?” 5 And he said, “Peaceably; I have come to sacrifice to the Lord. Consecrate yourselves, and come with me to the sacrifice.” And he consecrated Jesse and his sons and invited them to the sacrifice.

6 When they came, he looked on Eliab and thought, “Surely the Lord's anointed is before him.”

7 But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not look on his appearance or on the height of his stature, because I have rejected him. For the Lord sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.”

8 Then Jesse called Abinadab and made him pass before Samuel.

And he said, “Neither has the Lord chosen this one.”

9 Then Jesse made Shammah pass by. And he said, “Neither has the Lord chosen this one.”

10 And Jesse made seven of his sons pass before Samuel.

And Samuel said to Jesse, “The Lord has not chosen these.” 11 Then Samuel said to Jesse, “Are all your sons here?”

And he said, “There remains yet the youngest, but behold, he is keeping the sheep.”

And Samuel said to Jesse, “Send and get him, for we will not sit down till he comes here.”

12 And he sent and brought him in. Now he was ruddy and had beautiful eyes and was handsome. And the Lord said, “Arise, anoint him, for this is he.”

13 Then Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the midst of his brothers. And the Spirit of the Lord rushed upon David from that day forward.

And Samuel rose up and went to Ramah.

The Lord God tells us He is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow.

Elijah went to Mt Horab

See the similarities:

1 Kings 19:11-21

11 And he said, “Go out and stand on the mount before the Lord.”

And behold, the Lord passed by, and a great and strong wind tore the mountains and broke in pieces the rocks before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind.

And after the wind an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake.

12 And after the earthquake a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire.

And after the fire the sound of a low whisper.

13 And when Elijah heard it, he wrapped his face in his cloak and went out and stood at the entrance of the cave. And behold, there came a voice to him and said, “What are you doing here, Elijah?”

14 He said, “I have been very jealous for the Lord, the God of hosts. For the people of Israel have forsaken your covenant, thrown down your altars, and killed your prophets with the sword, and I, even I only, am left, and they seek my life, to take it away.”

15 And the Lord said to him, “Go, return on your way to the wilderness of Damascus. And when you arrive, you shall anoint Hazael to be king over Syria. 16 And Jehu the son of Nimshi you shall anoint to be king over Israel, and Elisha the son of Shaphat of Abel-meholah you shall anoint to be prophet in your place.

Abba, Father God,

In Your Comfort, we ask Your Willing Blessings.

May the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart be pleasing and acceptable my Rock and Redeemer.

Hebrews 4:16
Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

Proverbs 3:5-6
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.

Psalm 37:3
Trust in the LORD and do good; dwell in the land and cultivate faithfulness.

Psalm 118:16
The right hand of the LORD is exalted! The right hand of the LORD performs with valor!

Psalm 54:4
Behold, God is my helper; the Lord is the upholder of my life.

The Scriptures bring us the Merciful Love of God.

And the Living Scriptures have blessed us, our fathers and the generations. And will to generations know to God, arriving decades from now. We give You our cares, Father God.

We trust our Loved Ones to You. The Nation and the Nations to be upheld by Your Word.

Knowing Your Great Joy to have Heaven sought to be also on this earth with Your Good Will.

Blessing God with Gratitude. And holding up for His Love, our friend who went to the Hospital. And our friend doing so much better, we pray to heal completely, away from cancer.

Amen Jesus Amen.
