And they tempt you with the pleasures
That the flesh does surely hold
They say Eve tempted Adam with an apple
But man I ain't going for that
So many people think Eve was a sexual story. That apple. Those curves. Indeed this is not the case. That the flesh does surely hold
They say Eve tempted Adam with an apple
But man I ain't going for that
Eve was interested in something far and away more intriguing. Eve came from a mystical place. Indeed she was from the beginning of the earth. The Garden of Eden. She had seen Adam commune with God in the Garden and she has aspirations. Something greater.
Of course Eve is not a real person.
All these Bible stories are just mythology and stories of men in grass skirts.
Unless you are interested in proof.
In the field of human genetics, the name Mitochondrial Eve refers to the matrilineal most recent common ancestor (MRCA) of all currently living anatomically modern humans, who is estimated to have lived approximately 140,000–200,000 years ago. This is the most recent woman from whom all living humans today descend, on their mother’s side, and through the mothers of those mothers, and so on, back until all lines converge on one person.
Eve had aspirations.
Enter the snake.
I heard it through the grapevine
not much longer would you be mine. Oh Eden.
Oh I heard it through the grapevine,
Oh and I'm just about to lost my Eden.
Honey, honey yeah.
Gen 2
“You will not surely die. For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.” So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was to be desired to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate
and of course ....
and she also gave some to her husband who was with her, and he ate. Then the eyes of both were opened, and they knew that they were naked. And they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves loincloths.
And they heard the sound of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and the man and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God among the trees of the garden
Was there a time we could compare to the Lost Garden of Eden.... Of course, His Story repeats. We have lessons to learn.
Judges 17:6
In those days there was no king in Israel; every man did what was right in his own eyes.
By the end of The Book of Judges, the Israelites are in a worse condition than the beginning, a cyclical pattern of lack of faith. The Book of Judges not a lot of mercy there. And the wide path tells us the Wrathful God was for men in grass skirts.
All this sounds quite terrible, there is just one little situation....
Keep on teachin'
Preachers,
Keep on preachin',
World, keep on turnin',
'Cause it won't be too long.
Oh, no
Lovers,
Keep on lovin'
While believers
Keep on believin'.
Sleepers,
Just stop sleepin'
'Cause it won't be too long.
Oh, no!
Our decisions and judgements get us through life! Jesus told us wide was the freeway to destruction. The Narrow path is deciding His Haven is our support. Knowing the storms will come. Our haven is the desired path. Letting each day be sufficient.
Proverbs 14:10
The heart knows its own bitterness, and no stranger shares its joy.
Letting that port find the Joy and the Strength.
Who had to make decisions of right and wrong? We all do. Eve chose to want to be God. Not allow His Spoken Word to lead her. She placed her desires beyond those of her family, her husband. And we don't see repentance, she just left the Garden.
Higher Ground ~
Finding the right verse for the right situation. There are so many "systems of tubes" to attach the Right Word Fittingly to the Right Situation. Turn the Cheek. Reprove, Correct. Be all things to all men. WHAT????
Hey Wait ~ I have a real complaint ` remember with me the apostles knew something about Wisdom.
2 Peter 3:8
Do not overlook this one fact, beloved, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.
Even in the Iron Age, the Psalmist knew:
Psalm 90:4
For a thousand years in your sight are but as yesterday when it is past, or as a watch in the night.
Okay.Okay.Okay. Did the point drift? NO, I'm saying these old stories are rooted and grounded in Wisdom.
The Book of Judges was about timing.
Ecclesiastes 3
For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven:
2 a time to be born, and a time to die;
a time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted;
3 a time to kill, and a time to heal;
a time to break down, and a time to build up;
4 a time to weep, and a time to laugh;
a time to mourn, and a time to dance;
5 a time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together;
a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;
6 a time to seek, and a time to lose;
a time to keep, and a time to cast away;
7 a time to tear, and a time to sew;
a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;
8 a time to love, and a time to hate;
a time for war, and a time for peace.
******Israel had to establish herself away from the other countries - their path to God or holiness was not existent. Before mercy can be given, Israel had to have the place to establish her strength.
From there we see God DOES have guidelines. In the end is our beginning...
The Last Chapter of Ecclesiastes is 12:
The end of the matter; all has been heard. Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man. 14 For God will bring every deed into judgment, with every secret thing, whether good or evil.
Jesus told us He did not come to abolish the Law and Prophets.
Continuing that End Theme:
John 4:
But the hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship him. 24 God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.
Beginning, Ending and Off the Grid.
David was called off the beaten path. He ate the Holy Bread to continue the good fight.
Noah was called off the beaten path. He swung the hammer each day in faith.
Jesus was called off the beaten path - mostly. People had to find Jesus and HE was busy eating grain during the Sabbath - healing and calling for mercy over Sacrifice.
We are all called off the beaten path. And we are going to have to decide our decisions, words and works matter before that split second decision is needed. The Lord's Prayer helps exceedingly and contains Grace with a Huge Thing Christians Love - Heaven on Earth. And the proper attitude in His Holiness, we let Him Decide.
Joshua was given something we can hang on to - not to the right or the left. Balance.
Micah gave the phrase I trot out so often. Give Mercy with Justice, Walk Humbly with Him.
Proverbs 18:15
An intelligent heart acquires knowledge, and the ear of the wise seeks knowledge.
Job 28:28
“And unto man he said, Behold, the fear of the LORD, that is wisdom; and to depart from evil is understanding.”
John 15
7 If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. 8 By this my Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit and so prove to be my disciples. 9 As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Abide in my love.
Psalm 103:17
But from everlasting to everlasting the LORD's love is with those who fear him, and his righteousness with their children's children--
Something the Bible gives us throughout all of Scripture - the idea God has a plan - has Wisdom and will help those willing to call upon Him in faith.
Colossians 3:17
And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
