What is
The Purpose of Lent
Jesus
is the Word of God
Manifest
Romans 15:4
For whatever was written in former days
was written for our instruction,
that through endurance
and
through the
Encouragement of the Scriptures
we might have Hope.
Romans 8:24
For in this Hope
we were saved.
Why is the Transfiguration in Lent?
Matthew 17:1-8
And after six days Jesus took with him Peter and James, and John his brother, and led them up a high mountain by themselves.
And He was transfigured before them,
and His Face shone like the sun,
and
His clothes became white as Light.
And Behold,
there appeared to them Moses and Elijah,
talking with Him.
4 And Peter said to Jesus, “Lord, it is good that we are here. If you wish, I will make three tents here, one for you and one for Moses and one for Elijah.”
Peter was still speaking when,
Behold,
A bright Cloud overshadowed them,
and
A Voice from the Cloud said,
“This is My Beloved Son,
with Whom
I Am
Well Pleased;
Listen to Him.”
6 When the disciples heard this, they fell on their faces and were terrified.
But Jesus came and touched them,
saying,
“Rise, and have no fear.”
And when they lifted up their eyes,
they saw no one but Jesus only
Every life and every soul has a purpose. Every time and season a purpose.
Psalm 139, in the Glory of God, assures us His Love and His Plan and His
purpose.
When we look to see purpose, we truly see through a mirror darkly.
For example, the 1950s, when we see the technical journals, we see the drive to bring the world into goodness of purpose from overcoming World War II.
Cars expect to have major self-mechanics performed upon them. Water heaters are expected to last 50 years. The joy in the world rebuilding is the confidence of work, labor, joy and profit from the hand of God rebuilding. And yet, people struggled, having seen the evil. People struggled at home to have indoor working bathrooms with running water. That was not mentioned.
The 60s struggled with Civil Rights for All.
And then some churches that had marched, made sure there were good, expensive private schools to shelter in. And we see these schools today, divorcing the Church and marching on with very far away from scripture discussions. Routinely. That was not mentioned.
If we attempt to understand the struggles of our 2nd and 3rd great-grandparents, that struggle was not mentioned in the family discussions.
We do not see what we each struggle with, and some hide this so well, none know how much the same we truly are in God's Good Creation.

The 1970s struggled with the slowdown of the post-war economy. Television had become a real part of the culture. Entertainment wasn't with extended family. Porches were not as used as gathering places, and not dining rooms on weekends for family. Television brought us to the living rooms of families who lifted the curse from mentioning the whispered word cancer. Breast cancer was grandly presented as something to mention, share the situation, and pray to uphold one another. Abortion and birth control. We were secretly welcomed into the solution. And this solution spread quickly. No one was allowed to mention the trauma pro life counsels for those who feel the cut off their own lives. The pain and need for someone who deals with life to forgive them. It was not mentioned.
The 1980s were for all to Go Forth in Prosperity and Greed. Greed is good.
However, we are overlooking the 80s. Colleges and Universities were called, "A Bright Light of Seeking Goodness and the Good of Mankind." The Light of the 1980s was shining with the end of communism. Later, people would say the joy of Ralph Lauren's gracious advertisements actually made them feel the world was dancing and no one had invited them to the dance. That wasn't mentioned.
We do not know God's plan for you or sometimes even our own families.
We can be sure all these times felt like JRR Tolkien and his quest for what God brings us to wrestle and mature with. All lives have Bilbo Baggins in them. And some stay in the Shire and meet the challenges presented there, like Abraham met his challenges as God saw fit to bring them. Forgetting this was actually, in great part, reckoned to be just like Vietnam. And, was before World War II.
How will we see the post-plague and the Parasitism, with Hydroparasitism,
in the generation of prior plague, plague, and post-plague?
Do we have to literally head
to war
or
to go to the Peace Corps
to be
Bilbo Baggins?
God says in the Penteuch
those who seek to take
the
household
are defined as corruption.
And Jesus says
those who seek to take
the Vineyard,
are not part of the Vineyard.
Abraham
had His
Mission
and
then
Abraham
met the challenges
God
placed in his life of
householding
farming and being the man God planned.
What is the Purpose
of
These Years?
Pre-Plague, Plague and Post-Plague
What is the
Bilbo Baggins Mission?
It is not
the fluidity
of
culture.
It's usually not mentioned
All of this sermon is worthy. Please watch.
I'd like to mention 11:30 onward particularly.
Abba, Father
And we join Father Gibson
in his prayer.
Dwell in me,
Dwell in us,
Dwell in those we Love,
Help us to seek You first.
And
we will finish well,
in
Jesus Christ.
Father,
Help us
to speak sincerely,
mercifully
Lovingly
Help us seek and find
and bring,
to become,
more Heaven
to this earth.
Thank You
for
our first grandbaby
Arriving this summer,
All Your Love
Blessings upon
this little one.
