Psalm 56
A Miktam of David, when the Philistines seized him in Gath.
Be gracious to me, O God, for man tramples on me;
all day long an attacker oppresses me;
my enemies trample on me all day long,
for many attack me proudly.
When I am afraid,
I put my trust in you.
In God, whose word I praise,
in God I trust; I shall not be afraid.
What can flesh do to me?
All day long they injure my cause;
all their thoughts are against me for evil.
They stir up strife, they lurk;
they watch my steps,
as they have waited for my life.
For their crime will they escape?
In wrath cast down the peoples, O God!
You have kept count of my tossings;
put my tears in your bottle.
Are they not in your book?
Then my enemies will turn back
in the day when I call.
This I know, that God is for me.
In God, whose Word I praise,
in the Lord, whose Word I praise,
in God I trust; I shall not be afraid.
What can man do to me?
I must perform my vows to you, O God;
I will render thank offerings to you.
For you have delivered my soul from death,
yes, my feet from falling,
that I may walk
before God
in
the light of Life.
The Liturgy is a wondrous part of Church History. 313 to 318 AD is another form of the ongoing Life of Christ. The edict of Milan was Constantine formally recognizing the Church as the leadership of the Roman Empire. And in 318 AD the first Vatican began to be built over the foreigner's cemetery of Rome and covering the rock placed over the tomb of Peter's grave.
Psalm 56 perfectly describes the Disciples the week after the first Easter. They were sad. They wondered. The Disciples struggled to understand what this was. Even after Jesus appeared to them and explained on the Road to Emmaus.
Romans 8:28
And we know that all things work
together for good
for those who love God,
who are called
according
to His Purpose
We want to know how faith is grown and established. To see the Living Jesus Christ and understand how those who surround Jesus in His Kingdom, alive today, grasped and held their faith. Some of the steps of this deep and living faith. To abolish the fear ,we don't hold our faith and are really just weak and wobbly. The Disciples were weak and wobbly in almost every Chapter of the New Testament. They never became Jesus. They Loved Jesus, were forgiven for abandoning Jesus and in this real relationship endured by faith. God held them in His Hand and would not give them up.
Faith was growing the next Sabbath after the first Easter. It was not the Tree of Life, but really was a growing sapling.
Mark 8:22-26, Jesus healed a blind man in Bethsaida in two stages. After the first touch, the man saw people as "trees walking," Jesus laid Hands on him again, fully restoring his sight to clarity. This unique, two-stage miracle explaining brain recovery in stages. Jesus did not say to the man, "Not healed! What good are you!"
Nor did Jesus ever say, "Not filled with this Resurrection miracle! Fire these disciples." Like the Prodigal Son, Jesus just kept the relationship. Not forcing Faith upon them, Jesus kept explaining. Jesus believed His Disciples would arrive.
When people have something overwhelming happening to them, they really need at least 40 days to process. Every Lent we have been given 40 Days.
And in this difficult coping, God says find Praise. Find your joy. Don't wander about. Be within your faith.
1 Thessalonians 4:13-18
Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope.
For we believe that Jesus died and rose again
And so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in Him.
According to the Lord’s Word, we tell you that we who are still alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep. For the Lord Himself will come down from Heaven, with a loud command, with the Voice of the archangel and with the Trumpet Call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first.
After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air.
And so we will be with the Lord forever.
Therefore encourage one another with these Words!
Proverbs 19:21
Many are the plans in the mind of a man,
but it is the purpose of the Lord
that will stand.
