Luke 13:10-17 ~ all the people rejoiced at all the glorious things that were done by Him

And Peter's house
became a Church for many centuries
with the Plaster Walls
signed by Pilgrims
worshipping Jesus

Luke 13:10-17

10 Now He was teaching in one of the synagogues on the Sabbath.

11 And behold, there was a woman who had had a disabling spirit for eighteen years. She was bent over and could not fully straighten herself. 12 When Jesus saw her, He called her over and said to her,

“Woman, you are freed from your disability.” 13 And He laid His Hands on her, and immediately she was made straight, and she glorified God.

14 But the ruler of the synagogue, indignant because Jesus had healed on the Sabbath, said to the people, “There are six days in which work ought to be done. Come on those days and be healed, and not on the Sabbath day.”

15 Then the Lord answered him,

“You hypocrites! Does not each of you on the Sabbath untie his ox or his donkey from the manger and lead it away to water it? 16 And ought not this woman, a daughter of Abraham whom Satan bound for eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the Sabbath day?”

17 As He said these things, all His adversaries were put to shame, and all the people rejoiced at all the glorious things that were done by Him.

We don't tie Daniel in very often. Daniel was a devoted man of God and had his name changed to honor the Chaldean Babylonian gods of Nebuchadnezzar. Daniel's name, "God is my Judge" became Belteshazzar ("Bel protects his life," honoring the god Bel). And this was a very valid name, true purpose name, for Daniel in the effort to make Daniel go from devout Jew to assimilated Babylonian. In Scripture, El names are significant. Dani EL.  El indicates the Glory of God. Michael, Gabriel, Raphael.

El: "Mighty One" or "Strong One" (Genesis 31:29; Numbers 23:22)

Elohim: "God," "Creator," or "Mighty and Strong" (Genesis 1:1)
El Elyon: "God Most High" (Genesis 14:18)
El Shaddai: "God Almighty" or "The Almighty, All-Sufficient" (Genesis 17:1)
El Olam: "Everlasting God" or "God of Eternity" (Genesis 21:33)
El Roi: "God Who Sees" or "God of Seeing" (Genesis 16:13)
El Gibbor: "Mighty God" (Isaiah 9:6)
El De'ot: "God of Knowledge" (1 Samuel 2:3)
El Haggadol: "The Great God" (Deuteronomy 10:17)
El Hakkavod: "The God of Glory" (Psalm 29:3)
El Hakkadosh: "The Holy God" (Isaiah 5:16)
El Hashamayim: "The God of the Heavens" (Psalm 136:26)
El Chaiyai: "The God of my life" (Psalm 42:8)
El-Channun: "The Gracious God" (Jonah 4:2)
El Yisrael: "The God of Israel" (Psalm 68:36)
El Sali: "God of my Strength" or "God my Rock" (Psalm 42:9)
El Rachum: "The God of Compassion" (Deuteronomy 4:31)
El malei Rachamim: "God full of mercy" or "All merciful God"
El Yeshuati: "The God of my Salvation" (Isaiah 12:2)
El Yeshuatenu: "The God of our Salvation" (Psalm 68:19)
El-Kanna: "The Jealous God" or "Zealous God" (Exodus 20:5)
El Hannora: "The Awesome God" (Nehemiah 9:32)
El Yeshurun: "The God of Jeshurun" (Deuteronomy 32:15)
El ha'savlanut ve'ha'nechamah: "The God of all patience and consolation" (Romans 15:5)
El Elohe Israel: "God of Israel" (Genesis 33:20)

Daniel, God is my Judge.
Daniel's real career was assessing the events surrounding the Emperor Nebuchadnezzar and letting him value Daniel's opinion in the wisdom the One True God gave Daniel.  And this real name had value in God's Plan.

Daniel was being held in a polite disabling for years.  Like the woman carefully unrevealed in this Chapter of Luke's Gospel. Daniel should pretend to be happy with being subjected to attain a higher place.  While speaking the truth, that could and did get Daniel in some tight jams. Nebuchadnezzar was going to regret overlording the Holy Spirit.

So, the Lord did not immediately have the Truth and the Emperor at loggerheads.  And Nebuchadnezzar was not to lord over Daniel for very long. The Emperor was going to live in the wilderness, baying at the moon and trying to eat grass. For about 7 years.  A little bit like a werewolf who thinks he is a cow.  Probably where the werewolf idea came to haunt literature. An Abraham blessing and curse certainly.

Without God's timing, we would not have the miracles we know through Daniel.

The author, Susan Howatch, looked at the rumors and the facts of clergy to write interesting fiction, and she has had a profound quote on the faith of mankind relating to the Absolute Glory of God. "The Silence of God can be terrible waiting." "The Silence of God is most perplexing."

Perhaps, like a Good Parent, God isn't helicoptering in. Allowing us time to develop the reach that faith genuinely requires.  Faith is a choice we make daily. What is unseen in God's Light.

The Book of Daniel is defined by God's Own Plan and "Timing."
God controls all history, sets the exact times for kingdoms to rise and fall, and brings His final plans to pass on a fixed schedule. God Controls All History in Control of Kings.

Gate of Babylon, Gate Ishtar in Berlin, Germany. Found intact.

Daniel 2:21

God changes times and seasons,
removes kings,
and
gives power to whomever
He chooses.

Daniel 12:3

Those who are wise
will shine like the brightness of the heavens,
and
those who lead many to righteousness,
 like the stars
for ever
and
ever.

Daniel 7:13

"In my vision at night I looked,
and there before me was
One like a Son of Man,
coming with the clouds of Heaven.

He approached the Ancient of Days
and
was led
into His Presence."

Daniel understands about the people and their emotions. Scripture validates the place of embarrassment and shame, forgiveness and redemption.

Daniel 9

3 Then I turned my face to the Lord God, seeking him by prayer and pleas for mercy with fasting and sackcloth and ashes. 4 I prayed to the Lord my God and made confession, saying, “O Lord, the great and awesome God, who keeps covenant and steadfast love with those who love him and keep his commandments, 5 we have sinned and done wrong and acted wickedly and rebelled, turning aside from your commandments and rules. 6 We have not listened to your servants the prophets, who spoke in your name to our kings, our princes, and our fathers, and to all the people of the land. 7 To you, O Lord, belongs righteousness, but to us open shame, as at this day, to the men of Judah, to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and to all Israel, those who are near and those who are far away, in all the lands to which you have driven them, because of the treachery that they have committed against you. 8 To us, O Lord, belongs open shame, to our kings, to our princes, and to our fathers, because we have sinned against you. 9 To the Lord our God belong mercy and forgiveness, for we have rebelled against him 10 and have not obeyed the voice of the Lord our God by walking in his laws, which he set before us by his servants the prophets. 11 All Israel has transgressed your law and turned aside, refusing to obey your voice. And the curse and oath that are written in the Law of Moses the servant of God have been poured out upon us, because we have sinned against him. 12 He has confirmed his words, which he spoke against us and against our rulers who ruled us, by bringing upon us a great calamity. For under the whole heaven there has not been done anything like what has been done against Jerusalem.

13 As it is written in the Law of Moses, all this calamity has come upon us; yet we have not entreated the favor of the Lord our God, turning from our iniquities and gaining insight by your truth. 14 Therefore the Lord has kept ready the calamity and has brought it upon us, for the Lord our God is righteous in all the works that he has done, and we have not obeyed his voice.

15 And now, O Lord our God, who brought your people out of the land of Egypt with a mighty hand, and have made a name for yourself, as at this day, we have sinned, we have done wickedly.

16 “O Lord, according to all your righteous acts, let your anger and your wrath turn away from your city Jerusalem, your holy hill, because for our sins, and for the iniquities of our fathers, Jerusalem and your people have become a byword among all who are around us. 17 Now therefore, O our God, listen to the prayer of your servant and to his pleas for mercy, and for your own sake, O Lord, make your face to shine upon your sanctuary, which is desolate. 18 O my God, incline your ear and hear. Open your eyes and see our desolations, and the city that is called by your name. For we do not present our pleas before you because of our righteousness, but because of your great mercy.

19 O Lord, hear; O Lord, forgive. O Lord, pay attention and act. Delay not, for your own sake, O my God, because your city and your people are called by Your Name.”.

Daniel 12:2

Multitudes who sleep in the dust of the earth will awake:
some to everlasting life,
others to shame and everlasting contempt.

Daniel 12:8

8 I heard, but I did not understand. Then I said (to Archangel Michael), “O my lord, what shall be the outcome of these things?”

9 He said, “Go your way,  Daniel, for the words are shut up and sealed until the time of the end. 10 Many shall purify themselves
and make themselves white and be refined

But the wicked shall act wickedly.
And none of the wicked shall understand,
 but those who are wise
shall understand.

11 And from the time that the regular burnt offering is taken away
and the abomination that makes
desolate is set up,
 there shall be 1,290 days.
12 Blessed is he who waits and arrives at the 1,335 days.

13 But go your way till the end.
 And you shall rest
and
shall stand in your allotted place
at the end of the days.”

 And
 ALL
 the people rejoiced
at
all the glorious things
that
were done
by Him.

About scripture-for-today.blogspot.com/

We believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He has saved all who call upon His name and rely on Him for His Grace. The Scriptures are living & active and are for understanding the Lord Almighty. Biblical readings are chosen from the Ecumenical Christian Church and the Nicene Council, 325 A.D., approved Apocrypha. People remember not just from reading, but by sight and orally- an image has been added as well as audio readings. God tends to link the passages together with fascinates - this blogger, Anne-Laurel Gardere

About Me

My photo
Email registry at bottom.! “All Scripture is inspired by God” (2 Timothy 3:16). Men “moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God” (2 Peter 1:21). The Holy Spirit carried men along, moving and guiding them as they wrote in their own words what God wanted them to say. The Bible is unique; comprised of 80 separate books, & written over a period of thousands of years by more than 40 writers with one Author, spanning the centuries, different states of peace & war & different situations in life. The Bible answers the question: of who is God, who is man & what can their relationship can be. Although the Bible was written on perishable material and copied by hand for many centuries, its accuracy is not in doubt, proven by Dead Sea Scrolls and papyrus from 2,000 years. The Bible has survived persecution & criticism to be read with great interest in each generation. The Bible gives witness to the greatness of the Creator. A loving Father concerned for all of his creation. With each verse of the bible witnessing to God is love and the multitude & vastness of His attributes. The Bible was written for you. <><
