Psalm 128 ~ Revised Standard Version
[1] Blessed is every one who fears the LORD,
who walks in his ways!
[2] You shall eat the fruit of the labor of your hands;
you shall be happy, and it shall be well with you.
[3] Your wife will be like a fruitful vine
within your house;
your children will be like olive shoots
around your table.
[4] Lo, thus shall the man be blessed
who fears the LORD.
[5] The LORD bless you from Zion!
May you see the prosperity of Jerusalem
all the days of your life!
[6] May you see your children's children!
Peace be upon Israel!
This Psalm of God's always fills me with hope and raises me up. I like it more & more as I grow older, when I was younger I expected all the bounty and blessings of God, without a lot of real prayer. Not only is it a Psalm about Heaven, where the best is yet to be, but it is the promises of the Lord's goodness for this life.
When we are young, life is so very pleasing. As we grow older, we have a greater appreciation for what our parents and grandparents did for us. God says it is more blessed to give than receive; I am grateful for Maxine's prayer gift, I look forward to my grandchildren. My son Alexander laughs like my paternal grandmother, it is an echo of love. A hearty laugh from the belly, like being surprised at joy & overtaken. I look forward to seeing the next generation and to have the opportunity to be the love and caregivers my grandmothers & parents were to me.
I try to picture heaven & my limited vision gives perhaps a tiny glimpse. This Easter I was blessed to receive a Jacquie Lawson card, wow, it was what I think of. If you've ever seen the movie "Places in the Heart", 1984, it won 2 Oscars? Fabulous ending scene in the Church over Communion. If you are looking for a quiet Saturday afternoon, watchlastmovies.com has "Places in the Heart." Norton says the site is safe.
Blessings to you this Saturday.

I really love this wedding gift. This is a good reminder for all couples. In times of difficulties, they need to honor their promise- their vows.

It has been a gift we have loved through the years. It is an important reminder to remember our vows. After being married 24 years, I can say there are years people have thought my husband was receiving more worldly approval and a better catch than me. And then it reverses. Life has all different types of phases and it is important to be humble in good years and appreciative in weak times.
