Psalm 15
A Psalm of David.
1 O LORD, who shall sojourn in your tent?
Who shall dwell on your holy hill?
2 He who walks blamelessly and does what is right and speaks truth in his heart;
3 who does not slander with his tongue and does no evil to his neighbor,
nor takes up a reproach against his friend;
4 in whose eyes a vile person is despised,
but who honors those who fear the LORD;
who swears to his own hurt and does not change;
5 who does not put out his money at interest
and does not take a bribe against the innocent.
He who does these things shall never be moved.
I believe it's humanly beyond comprehension to imagine being Jesus, Only Son of God. Lamb of God taking all the sins, iniquities and wickedness. Jesus Himself took our infirmities and bore our sicknesses.
Isaiah 53
Surely he has borne our griefs
and carried our sorrows;
yet we esteemed him stricken,
smitten by God, and afflicted.
5 But he was pierced for our transgressions;
he was crushed for our iniquities;
upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace,
and with his wounds we are healed.
John was familiar with crucifixion. Mary was familiar with crucifixion and Pontius Pilate. Josephus recounts another incident in which Pilate spent Temple money building an aqueduct. Pilate had soldiers hidden in the crowd of Jews while Pilate spoke to the Jewish crowd and, when Jews again protested his actions, Pilate signaled for his soldiers to randomly attack, beat and kill.
When John and Mary decided to be near the beaten to near death Jesus, they fully comprehended their lives might end just as Jesus life was ending. Both John and Mary knew as they witnessed Simon this might be their fate.
What Jesus had given to John and Mary - they did not wish to leave.
Jesus had arrived to an unwed mother. During his lifetime Mary and Joseph were married. They were exiles in Egypt. And had determined to live again in the very small population of Nazareth. Where Jesus had grown in wisdom and standing - helping his family to be seen as Loving. Mary was not going to let the Son leave this life without all of her assistance she could give.
John had walked with awe. John knew he had been an eyewitness to John the Baptist, Andrew, Nathanael, the woman at the well, Peter and the whole town of Capernaum realizing the Messiah, told of, could do no more signs than Jesus had done. John had seen Moses, Elijah and the Widow of Nain's son rise. John had felt the Word of God alive in Jesus and would not leave Jesus.
We will never comprehend all Jesus has done for us. In feeling relief Jesus had His Mother and John, we come closer to wanting our Jesus to live eternally with Love.
In the suffering of Jesus unresponsive to life. The loss of His Light. The sorrow to see the end of such Goodness.
In knowing Mary Magdalene had risked her life. In knowing Joseph of Arimathea asked Pilate for the body of Jesus. Joseph of Arimathea was accompanied by Nicodemus, Bravely. We want our Jesus to have Love.
Knowing we want our Jesus to have Love. We want the Son of God to have the formerly blind attending the spices. We want the deaf now hearing to roll the stone back with sorrow. We want the cleansed Leper to fold the empty grave cloth with hope, wonder and sorrow. We want the Disciples to stand in the graveyard and mourn. We want the Brothers of Jesus to stand in the streets and cry out loud. We want the soldiers who know this is the Christ of God to weep standing by the sealed tomb. We want their hearts and lives to change to our God.
We want the hands holding the child to get up, to be well. We want the blind man with the saliva of Jesus and Jesus holding his eyes again - to fully heal this formerly blind man - to be in comfort. We want the Hands of Jesus feeding the multitude to not suffer. We want our Jesus, who only had to touch the bier of the Widow of Nain's son - to not cry.
We want the Hands of Jesus to be held by His Father and made whole. Just as Jesus told us the sparrows of earth are Loved by His Father. We want our Jesus to Live.
We want to know Jesus is doing Father God's Work with Joy. Amen!
We have Loved Jesus because He has loved us so - generously - first.
We want to know as Jesus made the Sea of Galilee living water by abiding near and over and in the waters of the Sea of Galilee, we want to know our Jesus is living with Love beside the shining waters of His Father and our's House.
And in this deep and abiding Love we hold for our Jesus, we have walked with John. We have walked with Mary. We have walked with Mary's sister. We have asked with Joseph of Arimathea. We have gone with Nicodemus to move Jesus' bloody body to rest. We will go with the women tomorrow to bring the spices. We will mourn Jesus. We Love Jesus.
And because we have this abiding Love for Jesus, we are made new creations in Jesus Christ.
We are the new creation in Jesus only His Grace could complete. And we will live with the Light of Jesus filling our days.
Father God, Abba,
Today we hope for Your Paradise and Your Love to be the comfort of Your Son.
Father God, Your Hand held back the Red Sea. Your Word stretches out the heavens like a curtain, we want our Jesus to have Your heart to dwell with Love.
Jesus blessed by His Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for You from the foundation of the world. When we were hungry, You gave us food. When we were thirsty and You gave me Living Water. When I was a stranger and You welcomed me.
Father You have placed my name on Your Hand. We pray the Hands of Jesus have comfort as well.
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort. We are comforted in all our troubles, we can know You comfort Jesus with the comfort we ourselves have received from God.
May Jesus Bless and Uphold those we Love. Take our cares from us. Bless the people God Himself has given us. Knowing You are Father God and even the least have all Your Love. Bless the Nation trusting in You. Bless the Believers as Lights to the world
In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, Only Son of God cover us with Your Love.
Alleluia Amen.
