Psalm 5
Give ear to my words, O Lord;
consider my groaning.
2 Give attention to the sound of my cry,
my King and my God,
for to you do I pray.
3 O Lord, in the morning you hear my voice;
in the morning I prepare a sacrifice for You and watch.
4 For you are not a God who delights in wickedness;
evil may not dwell with You.
5 The boastful shall not stand before Your Eyes;
You hate all evildoers.
6 You destroy those who speak lies;
the Lord abhors the bloodthirsty and deceitful man.
7 But I, through the abundance of Your steadfast Love,
will enter your house.
I will bow down toward Your Holy Temple
in the fear of You.
8 Lead me, O Lord, in Your righteousness
because of my enemies;
make Your Way straight before me.
9 For there is no truth in their mouth;
their inmost self is destruction;
their throat is an open grave;
they flatter with their tongue.
10 Make them bear their guilt, O God;
let them fall by their own counsels;
because of the abundance of their transgressions cast them out,
for they have rebelled against You.
11 But let all who take refuge in You
Rejoice;
let them ever sing for joy,
and
spread Your Protection over them,
that those who love Your Name may exult in You.
12 For You Bless the righteous, O Lord;
You cover him with favor
as with a Shield.
No one wants to get unpleasant news or terrible memories during the Christmas season. My mother had her own father pass away just a few days before Christmas when she was 11 years old. And generations later, her first grandchild was born the same day 46 years later. I found this very comforting. To be held in God's Mercy.
The Birth of Jesus was not without trouble.
Mary was sent out as a betrothed, heavily pregnant woman to go 80 miles to Bethlehem. And we know the total beauty and majesty of the Shepherds arriving to tell of God's Birth Announcement with the All the Heavenly Host.
We believe it's not the same day when the Wise Men arrive. Where was the young family during the time before the Wise Men arrived? The news they brought contained a threat of death to the newborn Jesus Christ. This is serious.
And what is the redeeming message of Christmas?
The Salvation of each one of us.
The Hope in God's Steadfast Love and Mercy. Like Moses or Sarah and Abraham, the belief God is Good and we can rely upon Him through the years.
Isaiah 41:10
Fear not, for I am with you
Isaiah lived in 500 BC, the Psalmist lived in 1000 BC, and Luke 1 was in the first century AD. Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow, put your faith in the Lord.
Abba, Father,
Jesus spoke Your Word
telling us always to Pray and Have Hope.
We lift up to You, Father God, our most pressing prayer request,
knowing You have heard
and answer.
For our first grandchild,
Love, Blessings and Good Health!
For Edward's successful
cataract surgery all healing and Blessings!
Thank You, Father God,
and Blessed be the Name of Jesus the Lord.
Amen.
