Passover
The Seder
Today
Charlton Heston was employed by Cecil B. DeMille because Michelangelo's Moses favors Charlton Heston amazingly well.
Cuneiform of the Babylonian History of the 2nd Exodus to Babylon.
The four questions are traditionally asked by the youngest, able, person at the table. Much of the seder is designed to fulfill the biblical obligation to tell the story to one's children, and many of the customs that have developed around the Four Questions are designed to pique a child's curiosity about what is happening in order to hold their attention
We might be able to become Abundant Life instead of slaves to fear.
1)Why is this night different from all the other nights?
On all nights we need not dip even once, on this night we do so twice!
Slavery: The salt water into which we dip the karpas (potato, onion, or other vegetable) represents the tears we cried while in Egypt. Similarly, the charoset (fruit-nut paste) into which the bitter herbs are dipped reminds us of the cement we used to create the bricks in Egypt.
Freedom: Dipping food is considered a luxury; a sign of freedom — as opposed to the poor (and enslaved) who eat "dry" and un-dipped foods.
We have the Luxury of food, to eat together.
2) That on all other nights we eat both chametz and matzah, on this night, we eat only matzah?
Slavery: Matzah was the bread of slaves and poor, it was cheap to produce and easy to make.
Freedom: Matzah also commemorates the fact that the bread did not have enough time to rise when the Jews hastily left Egypt.
We have the luxury of time.
3) That on all other nights we eat many vegetables, on this night, maror?
Slavery: The maror (bitter herbs) reminds us of the bitterness of slavery in Egypt.
We have the luxury of hope the virus will end. This Hope to end our bitterness.
4) That in all other nights some eat and drink sitting with others reclining, but on this night, we are all reclining?
Freedom: We commemorate our freedom by reclining on cushions like royalty.
We have the luxury of home.
We have peace. We have the luxury of knowing very, very high survival rates. We have moved mostly from fear to grim acceptance. In the absence of fear, we could find what Peace is here.
Jesus did indeed wear tassels still hang, today, from the sides of Orthodox Jewish men.
The Greek word that Matthew uses, kraspedon, is typically translated hem (as in hem of His garment) (Matthew 9:20; 23:5; Mark 6:56; Luke 8:44). Kraspedon is the same word used for tassels in the Septuagint (the Greek oral-to-written translation of the Old Testament nearly universally used by Jews and still remarkable and wonderful today).
Jesus would Rejoice with those who Rejoice. John 14, 15, 16, 17 Jesus told us of His Blessing to be in His Father's earth. His Love for us. The Joy He found in His Father's Ministry. Jesus wanted us to know He keeps what is Noble and Worthy in His Life each day.
Imagine Jesus knew what was coming and held so much Love making the Last Supper was His Joy. His Delight with those who are the Children of God.
This IS LOVE Reaching not just to the heavens and pouring through the MILLENNIUMS.
THE ABIDING LOVE JESUS CHRIST HAS FOR US.
Jesus Christ saves us from death. And pours Eternal Life into our souls. Life forever. With Jesus, His Father and The Holy Spirit.
WE MUST REACH OUT TO INVITE JESUS INTO OUR SOULS.
JESUS is Far More Worthy than we even know.
Psalm 109:21-31
21 But You,
O God My Lord,
deal on My Behalf
for Your Name's Sake
Because Your Steadfast Love is good, deliver Me!
For I am poor and needy,
and my heart is stricken within me.
I am shaken off like a locust.
My knees are weak through fasting;
my body has become gaunt, with no fat.
I am an object of scorn to my accusers;
when they see me, they wag their heads.
Help me, O Lord my God!
Save me according to Your Steadfast Love!
Let them know that this is Your Hand;
You,
O Lord, have done it!
Let them curse, but You Will Bless!
They arise and are put to shame,
but
Your Servant
will be glad!
May My accusers be clothed with dishonor
may they be wrapped in their own shame as in a cloak!
With my mouth I will give great thanks to the Lord
I will praise Him in the midst of the throng.
For He
stands at the right hand of the needy one
to save
him
from those who condemn his soul to death.
Now to Him
Who is able to strengthen you
