2 Chronicles 20:15 ~ For the battle is not yours, but God's †

We do not jog or bicycle on interstates. We do not block traffic. Do not jump in front of cars. And do not take a gun to a protest or provoke officers, neither state nor federal.

2 Chronicles 20:15

Do not be afraid or discouraged
because of this vast army.

For the battle is not yours, but God's.

Our Prayers are with all of those at Peace
- who have found war and violence

5-year-old Liam Conejo Ramos

Made the news when his father was to be deported . ICE returned the boy to his mother, who would not accept custody. Then ICE returned the boy to his grandparents, who refused to take custody or open the door.

His father, Adriean Alexander Conejoy Arias, an Ecuadorian, heard his son was left behind.  And was alerted

His father, Adriean Alexander Conejoy Arias, an Ecuadorian, heard his son was left behind.  And was alerted to hito his 5-year-old son's situation, going to be placed into a foster home.  This boy was in excellent, loved condition.  And his father, Adriean, asked for his son Liam to be with him. This son is loved, wanted and cared for.

Because Minnesota is so wildly ungoverned, and in the process of 4 different counts of impeachement for the State Governor, the father and son are placed together as family. And moved for peace to The South Texas Family Residential Center.

Thank God, Liam has his father. And officials who cared to make sure the 5 year old was placed where he is loved.

A 5-year-old boy and his father are reunited in the immigration facility in Texas after being refused by his mother and grandparents.

This is not new in the Bible.

Jesus says this world has Trouble.

David knew this as he watched his father's flock.

Life and Lent are Preparation. Preparation for Life in Jesus Christ. Preparation for walking with God daily. Preparation for believing the Word of God. Preparation for deepening our life in the Body of Christ - Community - Church - bringing more Heaven to earth. Preparation for our own eternity - today.

We talk a lot about stopping bullying. Nothing wrong with this.

We do our part each day to provide mercy and justice. Because we see in the History of the world - times of peace. Peacetime exists, bringing in times of more Faith, more Hope, more Love.

Realistically, you cannot stop the mouths of what God calls the two natures of mankind.

With more compassion to all and more belief in the structures of Love and obedience to God - we can see times of Awakening and Refreshing. David knew this time in the midst of his 23 year struggle in the 'Anointing' of God. This Anointing is, of course real, and was a great deal of work - like the Exodus. Not surprisingly, Works of God take continual Hope, Faith and Love.

God calls the two natures of mankind wheat - sustaining, nurturing, workable. And chaff - what blows around, isn't edible, doesn't sustain us generally an irritant.

Chaff the husks of corn or other seeds separated by winnowing or threshing. Chopped hay and straw used as fodder - trash. Today we sometimes call Chaff 'talking trash'. Chaff will annoy someone in a less than patient mood. Chaff will stick to someone not properly prepared. Chaff can get in your eye.

The Christian Church grew in a time of great wealth and power.  In these 'Glory Days'  oppression happened. And in these days, medical care was hard to obtain. People knew to comfort, sustain, protect each other from what lurked out there. A time when people would pray for healing, pray for protection. People knew to pray their faith for each other. Place a hand on a shoulder, bow a head and pray for one another. "God Bless You" was something meant. Part of the culture of Christ Jesus.

We need to be able to say "God Bless You" and "I will pray for you". "Can I pray for you now?"

It's Ten O'clock - Have you Prayed for Someone Today?

Good.
Do they Know You Prayed???

Luke 18:1

Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray
and not give up.

Mark 9:29

Jesus replied, "This kind can come out only by prayer."

Ephesians 6:12-18

For our struggle is not against flesh and blood,
but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces

2 Chronicles 20:15

Do not be afraid or discouraged because of this vast army. F
or the battle is not yours,
but God's.

1 Samuel 17:47

All those gathered here will know that it is not by sword or spear that the LORD saves;
for the battle is the LORD's

God is still very Capable and Working to win.

God's hands and God's feet - are God's.

In distinct words - when hope appears almost gone in times of violence - God is Perfectly Capable and Working. Do not lose hope.  Violence happens in the Bible to the good and the evil. Hope is within God as a viable and real event - today.

Victory belongs to God.

In all generations - we recognize the hand of God shapes our world. Our prayers are a good thing. God's works are God's.  The Battle is God's.

Probably the only painting of George Washington painted prior to the Revolutionary War.

In “Recollections of Washington”, George Washington Parke Curtis wrote of Washington's amazing survival. The coat in the painting is close to the uniform worn by General Washington in 1755 during the Battle of the Monongahela. There are four holes according to Washington’s account. There is no doubt his adopted children did know the story because George Washington Parke Curtis wrote this book.

After the Battle of Monongahela, George Washington wrote from Fort Cumberland to his younger brother, John Augustine Washington, July 18, 1755:

“But by the All-Powerful Dispensations of Providence,
 I have been protected beyond all human probability or expectation;

for I had four bullets through my coat, and two horses shot under me, yet escaped unhurt, although death was leveling my companions on every side of me!”

The United States and President Washington had a miraculous escape.  Psalm 91.

The Ship with Paper Missiles

The year was 1956. Israel had been a modern nation for eight years, surrounded by hostile enemies who were planning wars to destroy the Jewish state. The navy of Israel was for all purposes, almost nonexistent. The main enemy of Israel was the Egyptians, under the leadership of President Nasser. The Egyptians had several battleships and Nasser gave orders to move one of the large ships toward Haifa, in Israel.

The Israelis had one beat-up hull of a ship. They immediately painted it and put huge paper Mache missiles on the deck. When the Egyptian ship arrived, the Israeli’s sent a smaller boat out to meet it and warned them they had a new ship with very large missiles pointed at the Egyptians. The orders were given for the Egyptians to surrender immediately, or be destroyed. Oddly enough, the Egyptians surrendered their battleship, to a hull with fake missiles!

The Miracle of the 67 War

In May 1967, Egyptian and Syrian troops massed on Israel's borders, Egypt closed the Straits of Tiran to Israeli shipping, and Egyptian President Gamel Abdal Nasser filled the airwaves with calls to drive the Jews into the sea. The mood in the 19-year-old-country of Israel was bleak. Facing five well-equipped, Soviet trained Arab armies, Israel's defeat was virtually a foregone conclusion.

The black humor on everyone's lips that Spring was:

"The last one out, don't forget to turn off the lights."

Everyone knows that instead of defeat, Israel achieved a stunning victory. On June 5 at 7:46 AM, Israeli planes destroyed the entire Egyptian air force on the ground. In six days, Israel tripled its territory, gaining the Sinai Peninsula, the Golan Heights, the West Bank, and -- most precious of all -- the Old City and the Temple Mount.

The crucial strategy of destroying the Egyptian air force while their planes were still on the ground opened the way for the Israeli victory. The success of the maneuver is generally attributed to the Israeli planes flying below the tracking altitude of Egyptian radar. Many other factors, however, contributed to the success of the air strike and the subsequent battles. In fact, the coincidences and unlikely happenings at precisely the right time were so plentiful that, as we learn the details of the victory, the details are astonishing.

For example, a few days before the war, the Commander of Egyptian forces in the Sinai was ordered to change commanders in most of his brigades, putting in charge officers who didn't know the terrain or their forces.

On the very morning of June 5th, three hours before the Israeli air strike, Egyptian intelligence did, in fact, issue a warning that an Israeli air attack would begin "within minutes." At that point, Egypt still had time to get its planes off the ground and save them. The message reached the command bunker in Cairo. An aide-de-camp signed a copy, but no one bothered to look for the Commander in Chief.

On the same morning of the attack, Egyptian officers stationed at the radar station in northern Jordan picked up the scrambling Israeli aircraft and sent a red alert message to Cairo. The sergeant in the decoding room of the supreme command tried to decipher the message using the previous day's code and failed.

And where was Egypt's Commander in Chief? The night before, he and most of his top officers attended a party at an air force base in the northern delta area, at which a renowned belly dancer performed. Early the next morning, he took off for the Sinai, where he had ordered all his top commanders to assemble in order to meet a high-level Iraqi delegation. When the Israeli strike happened, not one senior officer was at his post.

These amazing stories clearly demonstrate, “The Battle belongs to the Lord!”

Winston Churchill's Grandson - Winston Churchill was in Israel for the War as a War Correspondent.

Among the rank & file, there was deep anxiety, even fear.

My Israeli reservist escorting officer, a lawyer in his mid-forties, recently married with a small daughter, told me in all earnestness that, in the event that Israel was being defeated, he would have no hesitation killing his wife and daughter, rather than let them fall into the hands of the Arabs. It would indeed have been a second Masada.

For my part, I found myself wondering what I – a Goy and a Brit – should do in that event, given that I was from a foreign land and had no direct involvement in the quarrels of the Middle East – beyond a Grandfather who had been a strong supporter of the Balfour Declaration!

Without hesitation, I concluded that I would grab whatever weapon might come into my hands and fight at the side of the Israelis. From that moment onwards, though I avow the right of the Palestinians to have their own independent state within the confines of Biblical Palestine, which has been their homeland over the centuries, I have counted myself a Zionist, firmly believing in the justice of the existence of the State of Israel.

Just after dawn on 5 June 1967 – just as the world was beginning to believe that Israel’s days were numbered – Israel made her lightning strike, destroying the Egyptian Air Force in 2hrs50mins & four Arab air forces in the space of 36 hours. It was one of the most instant and dramatic military victories of all time. To many, it seemed to be the ‘war to end all wars’!

"...if you examine the days leading up to the war, you will see that the feeling among the Israeli public, and even among many government ministers, was that of the eve of a holocaust."
Menashe (Muni) Ben-Ari

"Every one of the hundred million Arabs has been living ... to see the day Israel is liquidated"
Cairo Radio’s Voice of the Arabs broadcast, May 18th, 1967.

"For Israel, the waiting was excruciating and debilitating. Israel's citizen army had to be mobilized. As its soldiers waited on the various fronts for the world to rescue the nation from its peril, Israeli society ground to a halt and its economy began bleeding to death. Army Chief of Staff Yitzhak Rabin, later to be hailed as a war hero and even later as a martyred man of peace, had a nervous breakdown. He was incapacitated to the point of incoherence by the unbearable tension of waiting with the life of his country in the balance, knowing that waiting too long would allow the armies of 100 million Arabs to strike first his country of 3 million." Charles Krauthammer

There were also the grim preparations that had to be kept secret:
the parks in each city that had been consecrated for possible use
as mass cemeteries.- Golda Meir

1 Samuel 24:3-21 ~ This is the Day

1 Samuel 24:3-21

Saul took three thousand picked men from all Israel
and went in search of David and his men
in the direction of the wild goat crags.
When he came to the sheepfolds along the way, he found a cave,
which he entered to relieve himself.
David and his men were occupying the inmost recesses of the cave.

David's servants said to him,
"This is the day of which the LORD said to you,
'I will deliver your enemy into your grasp;
do with him as you see fit.'"
So David moved up and stealthily cut off an end of Saul's mantle.

Afterward, however, David regretted that he had cut off
an end of Saul's mantle.

He said to his men,
"The LORD forbid that I should do such a thing to my master,
the LORD's anointed, as to lay a hand on him,
for he is the LORD's anointed."
With these words David restrained his men
and would not permit them to attack Saul.

Saul then left the cave and went on his way.
David also stepped out of the cave, calling to Saul,
"My lord the king!"
When Saul looked back, David bowed to the ground in homage and asked Saul: "Why do you listen to those who say,
'David is trying to harm you'?
You see for yourself today that the LORD just now delivered you
into my grasp in the cave.
I had some thought of killing you, but I took pity on you instead.
I decided, 'I will not raise a hand against my lord,
for he is the LORD's anointed and a father to me.'

Look here at this end of your mantle which I hold.
Since I cut off an end of your mantle and did not kill you,
see and be convinced that I plan no harm and no rebellion.

I have done you no wrong,
though you are hunting me down to take my life.
The LORD will judge between me and you,
and the LORD will exact justice from you in my case.
I shall not touch you.

The old proverb says, 'From the wicked comes forth wickedness.'
So I will take no action against you.
Against whom are you on campaign, O king of Israel?
Whom are you pursuing? A dead dog, or a single flea!
The LORD will be the judge; he will decide between me and you.
May he see this, and take my part,
and grant me justice beyond your reach!"

When David finished saying these things to Saul, Saul answered,
"Is that your voice, my son David?"
And Saul wept aloud.

Saul then said to David: "You are in the right rather than I;
you have treated me generously, while I have done you harm.
Great is the generosity you showed me today,
when the LORD delivered me into your grasp
and you did not kill me.
For if a man meets his enemy, does he send him away unharmed?

May the LORD reward you generously for what you have done this day.

And now, I know that you shall surely be king
and that sovereignty over Israel shall come into your possession."

Karma. The Spiritual world. Is always part of our lives in God. The Cause and effect. CS Lewis would have called this, "The Old Magic."  And has been in diligent since the Lord God Almighty said,
"Let There Be LIGHT."

We prove the point from Genesis onward.

Genesis 15:1

After these things
The Word of the LORD
came unto Abram in a vision, saying,

"Fear not, Abram: I am thy Shield, and thy exceeding great Reward."

Karma. We always ask who recognized Jesus first. Let's go to a Higher Level.
Another Cave. People who return after a life after death experience frequently say the Kingdom of Heaven is right at hand. Close. The walls vanish and Heaven is here.

Who would sit next to Jesus, other than God The Almighty?  Mary saved Jesus Christ in Life many times. Saving Him to be born, saving Him to take all of them to Egypt. Knowing to bring Him back to the Nation of Israel.  Giving Him such a wonderful childhood, Gospels mention the close intimacy of Mary and Joseph and their family twice. During the hidden years, acknowledging Love and Joy.  Making sure they went back for Him after shockingly leaving Christ behind. Love over Judgment.  Kicking off the Ministry of Jesus.  Trying to save Him from the Plan of God. Dealing with infamy of being yelled about. Biblically. The Talmud recorded the gossip of the Sanhedrin regarding Mary.  Mary being admired to make sure Good Friday had family attending in her sister. And an Adoption.

Who deserves Good Karma?
Not just Mary, John, the Beloved Son by Adoption. On Good Friday.

Karma.
The big question, who recognized Jesus as Christ first? Andrew and John the Baptist.  The big question is, who was the first to see Jesus again after the Resurrection and Ascension. Who? John.

Ecclesiastes 11:21 ~ will come back to you

Ecclesiastes 11:21

Cast your bread upon the water,
in many days,
it will
come back to you

My mother's favorite Verse

TODAY, All of my Maxine memories collided.  Comfort. Comforter. God of Love.

1992, One of the reasons I really love holidays is the memories of the ones I love. Treasure in Heaven. One year after Grandmother Anita died, I didn't have more room in the kitchen. Mother and I shopped and bought a beautiful woven basket to put all of Grandmother Anita's barely pink wine glasses from about 1930.  After the dinner week, there was a tremendous crash. Edward said, "OH NO. OH MY GOD." And I knew he had just tossed all of Grandmother Anita's cherished glasses. I cried for a week.

Mother and I drove to visit my mother's first cousin, later my ward, Maxine, who told us she had spent Thanksgiving alone. Silence. We had nothing to say. Dead quiet. Finally, I burst out, "How did this HAPPEN?"  My mother was angry and said, if you wanted company, all you had to do was make a phone call. I think we shocked Maxine to find our reactions. Maxine assured us this was her wish. Mother said, speaking of what is broken, tell her. I burst into tears and told of Grandmother Anita's glasses. Maxine said, how many did you lose? All but 3.

Maxine said, "Hold tight, sit here and DO NOT move".

Gave my mother and me time to rapidly discuss, who didn't find out where Maxine was for Thanksgiving. Maxine surprised us and said, it's what I wanted. I wanted a day to remember. Remember being alone???? No, to remember all the Thanksgivings of many decades. And she said she had a gift for me.

SUDDENLY, in front of me, 12 identical pink glasses. Maxine came back in and said your grandmother had those glasses for decades!!!!!! More than a lot of people live.  Sad. Assuredly so. Maxine was giving me a Christmas present: Maxine's mother, my Aunt Eloise, had been given by my own Grandmother Anita, around 1931, which were the 2nd set of 12 wines, barely pink, glasses.

Maxine said, "Now! You have your Grandmother's wine glasses back!"

I cried with joy. Maxine said she'd never given a gift that gave her such joy to give.

A wonderful miracle! I've never forgotten. Edward was completely thrilled and said,

"This is a Miracle."

2 Timothy 1:5

I am reminded of your sincere faith,
which first lived in your grandmother Lois
and in your mother Eunice and,
I am persuaded, now lives in you also.

Maxine's mother was my great-aunt, Eloise
I've always liked
2 Timothy 1:5

And we lived in Nice, France.

Time passed.  About 7 years ago, there was a crash. My son broke many of them. Time went on for about 5 years. This is a no - name brand.  And on eBay, I found 8 more. God is Good! Especially with this impossible thing. I've looked off and on for 20 years on eBay.

Every story has another story, and they usually bump into the idea
that in this life we will have Trouble. Jesus said.

A friend of ours, Cheryl, says her collections have collections.
Well, women from the South, and others certainly understand.

I have collected Angels for our Christmas tree for more years than I'd like to say.  And 3 years ago, I decided to browse vintage angel Christmas ornaments.  I was drawn to one angel in particular because she looked like Maxine at about 50 years of age.  When the Angel ornament arrived, I was very pleased.  And realized the little ornament needed more ornate clothing.  My aunt Eloise left me some beautiful ribbons and wonderful lace, and using these items, I decorated Maxine's Angel with the items left by Maxine's mother.

And in these 2 Christmas years, I look for this angel with joy. I've never run into a Christmas ornament, until recently, that resembled people.

One of my most favorite people was my cousin Maxine. For 12 years, I was her guardian through the State of Texas. In my youth, I loved to visit Maxine, who lived near us, to pour over her comic strip books with her. Or walk with her in their garden to find vegetables or the hill of their front yard, and we would find treasures of nature. And to later bring my children to sip Coca-Cola out of a bottle. Maxine would go on to have 23 strokes.

Maxine with my mother

The one puzzle about Maxine was her zipped lips after she said there is no Heaven.
No God made earth and a mythical Heaven.  She would announce this was the end of the discussion.

The Cloud of Witnesses
I'd point out all of the people we were related to, Maxine would even go back to her grandmother, Melissa, who was my great-great-grandmother. And I'd ask her if she thought they were foolish or uninformed people. No, she would agree, they were wise and good. And I'd ask her if they Believed Jesus as God and Heaven as His Kingdom, what would they be to Believe in Him? Zip went the lips.

And one day she was in the Hospital, at age 83, and I asked her if she was going home to live with a Judge appointed companion or if she was going to Assisted Living.  She was, of course, furious, but I pointed out this was the State of Texas, and we were going to do what she requested.  Maxine decided on Assisted Memory Loss Living.  She would stay for 12 years.

12 years of Memory Loss Assisted Living would seem like a tragedy. One day, she told me they had radiators in her home and a huge fireplace, but she couldn't remember being this warm or this cool, in Dallas. Our family typically lives to 94 and Maxine did just that.

Maxine's husband, JT Price, directed the TV shows for Lassie and the Lone Ranger.

They had an incredible Living Room filled with photos of the Brown Derby. Photos of so many movie and TV stars. Photos of the Lone Ranger in the Brown Derby without the hat or the mask.  TV's dog, Yukon King, retired with them and lived in Dallas.

Under Jack Wrather Production. JT's childhood and lifelong best friend.  They lived for 3 decades in the Beverly Wilshire Hotel, 2 miles from Sunset Blvd. And they loved the Lobby. Meet and Greet.  One of the things Maxine loved about the Assisted Living, was sitting in, "The Lobby."

When she died, at age 94, I went to the funeral home and realized her coffin was the white French furniture of her youth.  The house she lived in when she grew old, with Aunt Eloise and JT.

She was going to rest forever.
Then, I was meeting all the family left at Kessler Park Methodist. And several people wept, of course I did as well.  And the Minister asked us about Maxine's soul. We all had to confess to her unbelief.

And the Minister asked if we had seen any sign at the time of passing.
I said, yes today, I did. Her coffin she had picked out is the same furniture of her youth and young woman years, she kept in pristine, condition since 1917. And I wondered why the strokes had ended Maxine's speech. Why, she was mute for about six years. What was God thinking.

And the Sermon for her passing was, The Spirit Hovered over the Waters of Creation.

Genesis. The Lord was giving Maxine time.  And we believe that Jesus was reaching out to the woman who had seen some of life's hardships.  Giving her the time to understand in His Creation, His Spirit hovered over the waters. And in her closing years, His Spirit was doing a work we will only see, after our years of loving her and our prayers.  It was a very honest and touching Funeral. For the woman who had given harbor to family in need over the years. Hospital stays where children had a loving home to care for them during their parents being at work or in the hospital. Maxine definitely remembered, during her years there, the wonderful love she had for JT.

For the casual observer, this might seem a small thing, but to be able to put such a person to rest, and to feel this Blessed Assurance of Jesus Christ as the Way to Salvation - this was mighty to us.

And still, I ponder. Maxine was mute. She was unable to say.  Because of the strokes.

And this week, I was praying, speaking with the Lord and I asked if He would give me a sign.  I wondered about the 7 levels of Heaven Paul had known to tell about.  I thought of Maxine and wished I had remembered her more in my prayers.

We had the attics busy with insulation. Today, I prepared Christmas items to repair and improve. I picked up Maxine's look-alike Angel ornament and brushed gold on the wings.  And startled.

I should finish this conversation:
When Maxine would jam her lips shut and say no more about Heaven and the Lord, we just rolled on.  We were family. And after listing her favorite people, who were, as Maxine said, "Very faithful and believed." We would stop.

One day, we went to sit on the front steps and have bottled Coca-Cola, Maxine kept for us. We sat down and started to visit. Maxine said, "I want to go back to the discussion I never want to have." We all laughed.  And Maxine said, "No, seriously. There is something about a Butterfly. Something in the Butterfly connects me to the belief in The Lord and His Heaven. I can't describe this further, but this really exists. The cocoon, the rising, the glory For a minute, I understand."

Hebrews 4:7

God again designated a certain day as “Today,”
when a long time later He spoke through David
as was just stated: “Today,
if you hear His voice, open your hearts.”

 2 Corinthians 6:2

For He says: “In the time of favor I heard you, and in the day of salvation
I helped you.”

Behold, now is the time of favor; now is the day of salvation!

 Hebrews 3:7-8

Therefore, as the Holy Spirit says:
“ Today, if you hear His voice

Today, I remembered the conversation, from 3 decades past.  And only for one reason, as I brushed gold on the Maxine like Angel ornament, the wings were shaped in the mold, long ago, to be the shape of Butterfly wings.  The little Maxine Angel Ornament, is the only one that has small wings.  And they are Butterfly wings. I probably wouldn't have seen this as such without the gold paint, just barely, brushed on.

And my heart understood. The sign. The Gift. The Lord.

God is Good.

About Me

Email registry at bottom.! “All Scripture is inspired by God” (2 Timothy 3:16). Men “moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God” (2 Peter 1:21). The Holy Spirit carried men along, moving and guiding them as they wrote in their own words what God wanted them to say. The Bible is unique; comprised of 80 separate books, & written over a period of thousands of years by more than 40 writers with one Author, spanning the centuries, different states of peace & war & different situations in life. The Bible answers the question: of who is God, who is man & what can their relationship can be. Although the Bible was written on perishable material and copied by hand for many centuries, its accuracy is not in doubt, proven by Dead Sea Scrolls and papyrus from 2,000 years. The Bible has survived persecution & criticism to be read with great interest in each generation. The Bible gives witness to the greatness of the Creator. A loving Father concerned for all of his creation. With each verse of the bible witnessing to God is love and the multitude & vastness of His attributes. The Bible was written for you. <><
