Joshua 24:1-17 

The Covenant Renewal at Shechem

Joshua gathered all the tribes of Israel to Shechem and summoned the elders, the heads, the judges, and the officers of Israel. And they presented themselves before God. 2 And Joshua said to all the people, “Thus says the Lord, the God of Israel, ‘Long ago, your fathers lived beyond the Euphrates, Terah, the father of Abraham and of Nahor; and they served other gods. 3 Then I took your father Abraham from beyond the River and led him through all the land of Canaan, and made his offspring many. I gave him Isaac. 4 And to Isaac I gave Jacob and Esau. And I gave Esau the hill country of Seir to possess, but Jacob and his children went down to Egypt. 5 And I sent Moses and Aaron, and I plagued Egypt with what I did in the midst of it, and afterward I brought you out.

6 “‘Then I brought your fathers out of Egypt, and you came to the sea. And the Egyptians pursued your fathers with chariots and horsemen to the Red Sea. 7 And when they cried to the Lord, he put darkness between you and the Egyptians and made the sea come upon them and cover them; and your eyes saw what I did in Egypt. And you lived in the wilderness a long time. 8 Then I brought you to the land of the Amorites, who lived on the other side of the Jordan. They fought with you, and I gave them into your hand, and you took possession of their land, and I destroyed them before you. 9 Then Balak the son of Zippor, king of Moab, arose and fought against Israel. And he sent and invited Balaam the son of Beor to curse you, 10 but I would not listen to Balaam. Indeed, he blessed you. So I delivered you out of his hand. 11 And you went over the Jordan and came to Jericho, and the leaders of Jericho fought against you, and also the Amorites, the Perizzites, the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Girgashites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites. And I gave them into your hand. 12 And I sent the hornet before you, which drove them out before you, the two kings of the Amorites; it was not by your sword or by your bow. 13 I gave you a land on which you had not labored and cities that you had not built, and you dwell in them. You eat the fruit of vineyards and olive orchards that you did not plant.’

Now therefore fear the Lord and serve him in sincerity and in faithfulness. 

Put away the gods that your fathers served beyond the River and in Egypt, and serve the Lord. 15 And if it is evil in your eyes to serve the Lord, choose this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your fathers served in the region beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you dwell. 

But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.

16 Then the people answered, “Far be it from us that we should forsake the Lord to serve other gods, 17 for it is the Lord our God who brought us and our fathers up from the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery, and who did those great signs in our sight and preserved us in all the way that we went, and among all the peoples through whom we passed.


This is the Last Chapter of Joshua. The beginnings and the close of each Book make statements worth fully remembering.
The Exodus was 40 years of preparation for God wanting to establish the Children of Israel. To have a life, hope and future. To prepare farms for the families to prosper. The Temple is built after David has pulled together all the supplies.

The Exodus is about God's Great Love for His People. A Father establishing His Beloved.

Grace, mercy, and peace, which come from God the Father 

and from Jesus Christ–the Son of the Father

When the kindness of God our Savior and His love for mankind appeared,

Mark 2:18-22 

18 Now John's disciples and the Pharisees were fasting. Some people came and asked Jesus, "How is it that John's disciples and the disciples of the Pharisees are fasting, but yours are not?"

19 Jesus answered, "How can the guests of the bridegroom fast while he is with them? They cannot, so long as they have him with them. 20 But the time will come when the bridegroom will be taken from them, and on that day they will fast. 

21 "No one sews a patch of unshrunk cloth on an old garment. If they do, the new piece will pull away from the old, making the tear worse. 22 And people do not pour new wine into old wineskins. If they do, the wine will burst the skins, and both the wine and the wineskins will be ruined. No, they pour new wine into new wineskins."


New wine - being changed by Jesus, seeing our lives as a gift from God and for God, not just another salmon swimming upstream without hope and going through the daily work. Old wine - what is valued, mellowed, cherished. What is Jesus telling us? We cannot change, cannot save ourselves. We cannot do it ourselves. With God all things are possible. Every day, we take our old wine - the things we value, the things the world expects, old hurts, the things that concern us. And we put them before God - the new wine of the Holy Spirit. Then we see His blessings and we thank Him.

Blessed be God, who creates light out of darkness.

We are new creatures in Christ Jesus, not controlled by the old values, but placing ourselves in front of Father God as His children.

God gave us His Written Word. And in doing so, we can trace the Word of God back to 200 B.C. An established written record prevails. Prayer prevails, communicating to God. Marching, sitting, peaceful protesting is a good beginning. Branches, both state and national, want to hear your opinion. Don't forget to email your State and National Congress.

We have generated a vast number of laws in this Nation's History. In Texas, it's illegal to walk your lion down the street. My family, in the past, has an Attorney representing the Dallas Police for five years. He represented them on all types of cases and found 98% to be called to the Police career. Good people. My family believes, because of this close alliance, the Police deserve respect. Like the peaceful protesters.

The Police were given a great deal military gear and have not deployed this in the Peace Demonstrations and not so peaceful Riots.

The Police in Schools primarily protect students from eager Drug Dealers. We need our children protected.

I believe, we will need a Constitutional Amendment. Email the White House and ask for the Vote on a Constitutional Amendment. We can email all of our State and National Congress.

We waste police time to have Internal Affairs and the Police Unions dealing with police actions leading only to escalations. We are better together United in Justice for All.

When Jesus walked with His Disciples, He chose to go to Caesarea, the most Roman of all Judea. Telling His distraught, upset, erring Disciples there was going to be the Church of Jesus Christ.

Jesus started out this Church with a new commandment - Love One Another. And this is exactly as Jesus Christ phrased this, "A New Commandment."

Jesus had ideas on steadfast framework. 2,000 years later, we have His Church.
