Psalm 130
Out of the depths I cry to you, O Lord!
2 O Lord, hear my voice!
Let your ears be attentive
to the voice of my pleas for mercy!
3 If you, O Lord, should mark iniquities,
O Lord, who could stand?
4 But with you there is forgiveness,
that you may be feared.
5 I wait for the Lord, my soul waits,
and in his word I hope;
6 my soul waits for the Lord
more than watchmen for the morning,
more than watchmen for the morning.
7 O Israel, hope in the Lord!
For with the Lord there is steadfast love,
and with him is plentiful redemption.
8 And he will redeem Israel
from all his iniquities.
The Scriptures are unique. Thought to be Sunday School lessons of saccharine - instead we find real people. Real flaws. Mess. Trauma.
Genesis - God oddly enough puts horns on His altar. The point being, in times of trouble, hang on, God is something real to hold on to. This is one of the first stories in the Bible.
Abraham suffers infertility.
Isaac suffers twin sons who fight endlessly.
Jacob suffers heart-sick love and too many women and children fighting.
The Bible sees - alcoholism, incest, prostitution, the loss of family, jealousy, Christians who argue. Those who long for love and feel forsaken.
Through out Scripture we see families having generational gaps. The Scriptures see longing to be united in good circumstance, in Heaven, with all walls removed - the Spirit open.
Ephesians 2:14
For He Himself is our peace, who made both groups into one and broke down the barrier of the dividing wall
Ephesians 2:17
He came and preached peace to you who were far away and peace to those who were near.
Corinthians 1:3-7
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. For as we share abundantly in Christ's sufferings, so through Christ we share abundantly in comfort too. If we are afflicted, it is for your comfort and salvation; and if we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which you experience when you patiently endure the same sufferings that we suffer. Our hope for you is unshaken, for we know that as you share in our sufferings, you will also share in our comfort.
The Scriptures said what we expect from God - we will receive. If we expect Him to be remote and unknowable - that is what we find. If we draw near and seek - He will draw near. He promises when we reach to Him, He is there for us.
God has an open hands policy.
An open ear policy to prayer. In the name of His Son. Jesus.
Romans 10:13
For “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
God wants to save - the whole world.
1 John 4:9
This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him.
You have to be God to aim that High. Blessed be the name of Jesus the Lord. Amen. Our all in all.
