Acts 8:26-40 ~ Rise and go toward

Acts 8:26-40

Now an angel of the Lord said to Philip, “Rise and go toward the south to the road that goes down from Jerusalem to Gaza.”

This is a desert place. And he rose and went. And there was an Ethiopian, a eunuch, a court official of Candace, queen of the Ethiopians, who was in charge of all her treasure. He had come to Jerusalem to worship and was returning, seated in his chariot, and he was reading the prophet Isaiah.

And the Spirit said to Philip, “Go over and join this chariot.”

So Philip ran to him and heard him reading Isaiah the prophet and asked, “Do you understand what you are reading?”

And he said, “How can I, unless someone guides me?” And he invited Philip to come up and sit with him.

Now the passage of the Scripture that he was reading was this: “Like a sheep he was led to the slaughter and like a lamb before its shearer is silent, so he opens not his mouth. In his humiliation justice was denied him. Who can describe his generation? For his life is taken away from the earth.”

And the eunuch said to Philip, “About whom, I ask you, does the prophet say this, about himself or about someone else?”

Then Philip opened his mouth, and beginning with this Scripture he told him the good news about Jesus. And as they were going along the road they came to some water, and the eunuch said, “See, here is water! What prevents me from being baptized?”

And he commanded the chariot to stop, and they both went down into the water, Philip and the eunuch, and he baptized him.

And when they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord carried Philip away, and the eunuch saw him no more, and went on his way rejoicing.

40 But Philip found himself at Azotus, and as he passed through he preached the gospel to all the towns until he came to Caesarea

Psalm 113

Praise, O servants of the Lord,
praise the name of the Lord!

Blessed be the Name of the Lord
from this time forth and forevermore!
From the rising of the sun to its setting,
the Name of the Lord is to be praised!

The Lord is high above all nations,
and His glory above the heavens!

Who is like the Lord our God,
    who is seated on high,
who looks far down
on the heavens and the earth?

He raises the poor from the dust
and lifts the needy from the ash heap,
to make them sit with princes,
with the princes of his people.

He gives the barren woman a home,
making her the joyous mother of children.

Praise the Lord!

The Lord does astonishing things with water.

Ephesians 1:7

In Him
we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins,
in accordance with the riches of God's grace

Philip has 32 mentions in the Gospels and is gone forever after The Acts of the Apostles, Chapter 8.

Well, was Philip all that exciting? Yes, when we find Philip he is one of the very first, with Andrew, Peter's brother, to understand Jesus is God and sign on. John's Gospel, First Chapter. And important beginning. And one of the very, very, very first Jesus welcomes as His Disciple.
Jesus doesn't just tell Nathanael of his prayer, Jesus saw, Jesus tells Nathanael, He has seen Philip before they met. Powerful.

In fact, Philip is working so diligently on finding our Father, he insults Jesus, much, much further along in the 3rd final days of 3 years, to ask Him, in the Upper Room for Passover, where and when Jesus would show them The Father.  Doesn't this make you think Philip is so intense, he might just suddenly find himself in Azotus, Israel. God gives people gifts and Jesus definitely shows us with, powerful preferment, Philip is very much on God's Radar.  Philip is listed on the highest list of Jesus' chosen, several times in the New Testament.

Jesus goes on to let us know in the Scriptures, Philip is from Bethsaida, the city of Andrew and Peter. These brothers, with their large, extended, live together family,  lived quite, quite well in Capernaum.  Jesus doesn't tell us everyone's background, but Jesus is telling us, He found Philip someone to know well on His God Radar for a very long time, indeed.  Philip returns the favor, of longevity, and tells Nathaniel," This is the Messiah of God. The One Moses told us about."

Philip isn't discardable, easily to the Scriptures and... Poof - Gone.  Enoch walked with the Lord and is gone.  Philip asks Jesus, how will we afford to feed these people? Philip is probably, in the heart of Jesus, both practical in Philip's concern for the people and a little Jesus "overlooking"  for lame, walk and blind, see.  Philip is still wondering where the Father is.  Like Mary, Philip isn't able to see, entirely, Grace upon Grace, God walks with us.  Even, if like Mary, he has announced this profoundly from the first.

Is Philip so discardable? No, the Greek pilgrims - search for Philip to bring Jesus to them. They want Jesus to flee Herod and the trouble, to come to Greece with them to Teach and Live.

What did Philip do, telling us the Holy Spirit was dwelling in Philip?

Acts 8:6

And the crowds with one accord
paid attention to what was being said
by Philip,
when they heard him and saw the signs that he did.

Acts 8:12

But when they believed Philip
as he preached good news about the kingdom of God
and the name of Jesus Christ,
they were baptized, both men and women.

Acts 8:13

Even Simon himself believed, and after being baptized he continued with Philip.
And seeing signs and great miracles performed,
he was amazed.

1 Peter 4:10

Each of you should use
whatever gift you have received to serve others,
as faithful stewards of God's grace
in its various forms.

The Lord tells us in the 8th Chapter of Acts of the Apostles, verse 2, the Lord had scattered the Apostles. And Philip was with those planning replacements of the Disciple Judas. Philip understood more would fill in the gap.  And planned for the changes.

Are changes shown in the Bible? Acts 1 lists Philip with Bartholomew. This was an extreme distinction, this is the chapter Jesus' seamless family from Nazareth, becomes seamless again and  joins with the Disciples and Mary in daily communion and prayers. Praying for Christ, Church and Christianity to continue.

Philip is placed beside Bartholomew more than any other Disciple. And we know Bartholomew will quit traveling with Paul to travel to India and many other places. In fact, there is a First Century Bible found in India recently, scholars believe to be the Bible of Bartholomew.

The Word of God is unique. God places people in the framework of importance. When we find Philip is in the first Chapter of John, we discover God's heart for Philip better.  We know so much of David, and so little of the Disciples, yet the heart God has for Philip is very touching.  The Scriptures are so real, we see the flaws in Mary, her philosophy and praise in Luke 1, telling us of growing up in her family that gives no warm nod to her own family. We see her hope and courage and honesty in the words of James and Jude. These are definitely, definitely, definitely flawed people.  When Gandi said, I like your Christ, but not your christians. He might have gained more warmth to discover how flawed God sees us all, even the Great Ones.

Sign of the Times

This is important, not just for our self-esteem, to face God, as Isaiah did. But this is for these lava lamp times, Pandemic violence, crazy words, ideas that seem so harmful to even children, not to write off our Jesus Christ idea of the upbuilding of the Church, the Culture and our hope for mankind.

Mankind isn't newly flawed, but the pendulum swings back and forth in the Books of Kings and Chronicles.  Mankind is loved through the Generations. Remember, both King Hezekiah and King Josiah were chosen, to literally, have the Temple cleaned. Due to neglect, profiteering and power of self.  And King Josiah's generation was so far from Scripture, they knew they had found The Word of God, but were in awe because no one had told them.
Wow.

Actual First Century Israel Jars for Purification

When Mary asked Jesus to begin His Ministry, they used purification sized jars, huge jars, It's not just pleasant God was helping a young couple - marry - and have a party! It's significant, significant, significant - the first Joy of Jesus was a cleansing for the world.

Lord, we are grateful
grateful
grateful
to be Thankful
for
Jesus

Thank Jesus.

Abba, Father,

Thank You for Jesus Christ.
He is the Bread of Life.

We want to be One in that Number
when the Saints Go Marching IN
to Jesus.

Help us to remember like Jeremiah
and like Philip, not to disappear
and avoid going to Church.

The Church is flawed,
so are we,
and we all make
the Body of Christ.

The Church helps us
not to become
the warm water frog
boiled gently into oblivion.

Help us, we pray for Your Blessings,
Dwell in us
and those we love, earnestly pray for.

Help us to seek you first.

You are the Bread of Life,
Help us to have Your blessing to
have hearts pleasing to You
and the aroma of Love
Encouragement
Mercy
Hope
with all
good diligence.

Thank You, Father,
for our many blessings.
Help us to chose Your Joy
and to
see with willing hearts and eyes,
to be Blessing Seekers and Appreciators.

In Jesus Christ
Our Lord
Our Savior
Wonderful Jesus,
we find
Our Alleluia in You.

Amen.

Isaiah 40:26

Lift up your eyes on high and see: who created these?
He who brings out their host by number,
 calling them all by name,
by the greatness of His might,
and because He is strong in power
 not one is missing.

Hebrews 11:1-35 ~ what is seen was not made out of things that are visible

What Happened to Jeremiah

Jeremiah 44:11-14, 26-30

11 “Therefore thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel:

Behold, I will set my face against you for harm, to cut off all Judah. 12 I will take the remnant of Judah who have set their faces to come to the land of Egypt to live, and they shall all be consumed.

In the land of Egypt they shall fall; by the sword and by famine they shall be consumed. From the least to the greatest, they shall die by the sword and by famine, and they shall become an oath, a horror, a curse, and a taunt.

13 I will punish those who dwell in the land of Egypt, as I have punished Jerusalem, with the sword, with famine, and with pestilence,

So that none of the remnant of Judah who have come to live in the land of Egypt shall escape or survive or return to the land of Judah, to which they desire to return to dwell there.

"For they shall not return,
except some fugitives.”

26 Therefore hear the word of the Lord, all you of Judah who dwell in the land of Egypt:

Behold,

I have sworn by my great name, says the Lord, that my name shall no more be invoked by the mouth of any man of Judah in all the land of Egypt, saying, ‘As the Lord God lives.’

Behold,

I am watching over them for disaster and not for good. All the men of Judah who are in the land of Egypt shall be consumed by the sword and by famine, until there is an end of them.

28 And those who escape the sword shall return from the land of Egypt
to the land of Judah,
few in number;
and all the remnant of Judah,
who came to the land of Egypt to live,
shall know whose word will stand,
mine or theirs.

29 This shall be the sign to you, declares the Lord, that I will punish you in this place, in order that you may know that my words will surely stand against you for harm:

Behold,

30 Thus says the Lord, Behold, I will give Pharaoh Hophra king of Egypt into the hand of his enemies and into the hand of those who seek his life, as I gave Zedekiah king of Judah into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, who was his enemy and sought his life.”

Hebrews 11:1-35

By faith we understand that the universe was created by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things that are visible.

By faith Enoch was taken up so that he should not see death, and he was not found, because God had taken him. Now before he was taken he was commended as having pleased God. 6 And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.
Enoch did not worry God. Enoch had God's compassion.

By faith Noah, being warned by God concerning events as yet unseen
Noah did not worry God, Noah had God's Compassion and Care.

By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to a place that he was to receive as an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going.
God knew exactly where Abraham was going.

God is not ashamed to be called their God, for He has prepared for them a city.

By faith Jacob, when dying, blessed each of the sons of Joseph, bowing in worship over the head of his staff.

By faith Joseph, at the end of his life, made mention of the exodus of the Israelites and gave directions concerning his bones.

23 By faith Moses, when he was born, was hidden for three months by his parents, because they saw that the child was beautiful, and they were not afraid of the king's edict. 24 By faith Moses, when he was grown up, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter, 25 choosing rather to be mistreated with the people of God than to enjoy the fleeting pleasures of sin. 26 He considered the reproach of Christ greater wealth than the treasures of Egypt, for he was looking to the reward. 27 By faith he left Egypt, not being afraid of the anger of the king, for he endured as seeing him who is invisible. 28 By faith he kept the Passover and sprinkled the blood, so that the Destroyer of the firstborn might not touch them.

29 By faith the people crossed the Red Sea as on dry land, but the Egyptians, when they attempted to do the same, were drowned. 30 By faith the walls of Jericho fell down after they had been encircled for seven days. 31 By faith Rahab the prostitute did not perish with those who were disobedient, because she had given a friendly welcome to the spies.

32 And what more shall I say? For time would fail me to tell of Gideon, Barak, Samson, Jephthah, of David and Samuel and the prophets—
33 who through faith conquered kingdoms,
enforced justice,
obtained promises,
stopped the mouths of lions,
34 quenched the power of fire,
escaped the edge of the sword,
were made strong out of weakness,
became mighty in war,
put foreign armies to flight.

35 Women received back their dead by resurrection.

What Happened to Jeremiah?

Jeremiah returned to live in the home the Lord told him to purchase from the prison hole in the Davidic Palace.

How did Jeremiah get there?  Nothing is impossible for the Lord. Many possibilities.

Ezekiel said mere bones will rise up and have flesh.

Ezekiel 36

23 And I will vindicate the holiness of my great name, which has been profaned among the nations, and which you have profaned among them. And the nations will know that I am the Lord, declares the Lord God, when through you I vindicate my holiness before their eyes. 24 I will take you from the nations and gather you from all the countries and bring you into your own land. 25 I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you shall be clean from all your uncleannesses, and from all your idols I will cleanse you.

26 And I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you. And I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. 27 And I will put my Spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes and be careful to obey my rules.

28 You shall dwell in the land that I gave to your fathers, and you shall be my people, and I will be your God.

Many Possibilities.  All Things are Possible with God.

Acts 20:9-10

9 And a young man named Eutychus, sitting at the window, sank into a deep sleep as Paul talked still longer. And being overcome by sleep, he fell down from the third story and was taken up dead. 10 But Paul went down and bent over him, and taking him in his arms, said, “Do not be alarmed, for his life is in him.”

John 5:13

The man didn't know,
for Jesus had disappeared into the crowd.

 Luke 4:30

Jesus passing through their midst,
he went away.

David knew where to go in Battle, The Lord directed him to know by the wind in the trees.

Hezekiah was about to be killed by great armies. They became confused and attacked each other and went home and slaughtered the king, their father.

2 Chronicles 20:20-22

20 And they rose early in the morning and went out into the wilderness of Tekoa. And when they went out, Jehoshaphat stood and said, “Hear me, Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem! Believe in the Lord your God, and you will be established; believe his prophets, and you will succeed.” 21 And when he had taken counsel with the people, he appointed those who were to sing to the Lord and praise him in holy attire, as they went before the army, and say,

“Give thanks to the Lord,
for his steadfast love endures forever.”

22 And when they began to sing and praise, the Lord set an ambush against the men of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir, who had come against Judah so that they were routed.

Another time singing was used, the enemy army couldn't tell which direction the bold, confident singing was coming from, and, confused, the enemy army killed each other until the entire army was dead.

Gideon also did this with mere noise, in the middle of the night.

2 Chronicles 22:11

11 But Jehoshabeath, the daughter of the king, took Joash the son of Ahaziah and stole him away from among the king's sons who were about to be put to death, and she put him and his nurse in a bedroom. Thus Jehoshabeath, the daughter of King Jehoram and wife of Jehoiada the priest, because she was a sister of Ahaziah, hid him from Athaliah, so that she did not put him to death.

David killed Goliath with a stone.

David was a Shepherd, as surely as Jeremiah was the Shepherd of Israel.  Jeremiah 50 refers to a lion and safety.

1 Samuel 17:34-37

But David said to Saul, “Your servant used to keep his father’s sheep, and when a lion or a bear came and took a lamb out of the flock, I went out after it and struck it, and delivered the lamb from its mouth; and when it arose against me, I caught it by its beard, and struck and killed it. Your servant has killed both lion and bear."

Abba, Father,

Chapter 49 of the Isaiah Scroll from the Dead Sea Scrolls

Isaiah 49:8-15

 Thus says the Lord:

“In a time of favor I have answered you;

in a day of salvation I have helped you;
I will keep you and give you

as a covenant to the people,
to establish the land,
to apportion the desolate heritages

Saying to the prisoners, ‘Come out,’
to those who are in darkness, ‘Appear.’

They shall feed along the ways;
on all bare heights shall be their pasture;
they shall not hunger or thirst,
neither scorching wind nor sun shall strike them,
for he who has pity on them will lead them,
and by springs of water will guide them.
11 And I will make all my mountains a road,
and
my highways
shall be raised up.

 John 8:36

Therefore the Son
shall make you free,
you shall be free indeed

John 8:32

Then you will know the truth,
and the truth will set you free.

Thank You, Father,
Dwell in me,
Dwell in those I love and fill them with Your Love and
Hope and Glory.
All Your Promises.
Help us to Seek You First.

We pray strongly and diligently for the child in Wilmer, Texas,
the child abduction,
the 10-year-old boy
to be returned
unharmed to his family.
Let Psalm 122 be theirs.

And in Jesus Christ, we will finish well.

Please and Thank You, Lord,
I want to stop coughing now
and run on Joy.

We ask in Jesus Christ
His Holy Name
We should share The Peace
worldwide
The earth is the Lord's and the
fullness thereof
Amen

Almighty and Everlasting God,

You made the universe with all its marvelous order,
its atoms, worlds, and galaxies,
and the infinite complexity of living creatures:

Grant that, as we probe the mysteries of Your creation,
we may come to know You more truly,
and more surely fulfill our role
in Your eternal purpose

In the name of Jesus Christ our Lord.

Amen

Email registry at bottom.! “All Scripture is inspired by God” (2 Timothy 3:16). Men “moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God” (2 Peter 1:21). The Holy Spirit carried men along, moving and guiding them as they wrote in their own words what God wanted them to say. The Bible is unique; comprised of 80 separate books, & written over a period of thousands of years by more than 40 writers with one Author, spanning the centuries, different states of peace & war & different situations in life. The Bible answers the question: of who is God, who is man & what can their relationship can be. Although the Bible was written on perishable material and copied by hand for many centuries, its accuracy is not in doubt, proven by Dead Sea Scrolls and papyrus from 2,000 years. The Bible has survived persecution & criticism to be read with great interest in each generation. The Bible gives witness to the greatness of the Creator. A loving Father concerned for all of his creation. With each verse of the bible witnessing to God is love and the multitude & vastness of His attributes. The Bible was written for you. <><
