One Sunday, we were with Grandmother Bit and Tate (Rev. Tate Young in Sherman and Dennison) for Sunday Lunch. We would have had fewer candles and the room had a wall of picture glass windows to see the yard and then Lake Texhoma. As we all came in through the door, we would start carrying plates and setting the table. Usually it was a roast timed in the oven and Tate would be chatting with the whole table as he was carving the meat. A couple of vegetables. Maybe some rolls. And at the end of the meal, always the regret there was no dessert!
This particular Sunday, it was the end of the meal and I have no memory of the table conversation, the meal was winding down. We had done this so often, no one was alarmed the conversation had dwindled. Tate looked over at me and asked a question out of the ordinary. "What do you think about in the drive from Dallas to Pottsboro?"
I replied, I wonder why some land (there had been miles of rural land then) is filled with all kinds of things making the property look ugly and then next door the land looks great. Tate frowned and asked what I meant. I described it again in great detail. I explained about lots of dead sticks and it would look dead and next door look great and great. This irritated Daddy and he said some people work and don't have time to do this or the money.
One of the reasons I adored Tate. He could put his finger straight up and quell my father who was quite good at being authoritative in all seasons. And my father did not get upset or fussy, he just yielded to a lifetime of good manners and affection.
Tate got interested in the conversation, because Tate was 1000% interesting and we discussed all the options. There are different types of grass. People have differing interests and needs. Some people don't think gross dead stick weeds are all that bad and it's their childhood memories involved. And some land is just better with better trees and some assets. Tate then asked if he had answered the question.
I said yes, pretty well. But this week in school we were learning about goats and problems with raising them is they eat everything and sheep don't. I said it would be great if we all could get rented out goats and let the goats go eat everything, even tin cans. My dad said that would be great but it's not happening because not every property is fenced in, goats would leave and no one wants to herd goats into a trailer. Tate said it would take an hour to do that and there is the fence issue but I bet that a lot of land holders wish goats were available. And both men did agree the conversation was not anything they had expected.
Fast forward to being in Hawaii for my 60th birthday and being in a tour group of a Hawaiian farm. We learned about Coconut Beetles the size of half a woman's hand. Coming from farm land allowed to go wild. And I said do you know that property on the highway nearby and described to our guide we were all having lunch with. And he replied he certainly did. I said it is in some terrible shape with weeds so high that it semi hides the deserted car. He said, Wow, a deserted car? That's terrible.
Then our guide we enjoyed so much said: His family for 3 generations had developed the coconut farm. Oops. He was going to rent goats and get it taken care of. GOAT RENTALS? Yes, it's a thing. And sure enough we saw 50 goats clear the property in 2 days. Car was being towed as well. No Coconut Beetles for them. He wasn't offended. Superlative.
And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the Name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.
I was pretty thrilled to hear this finally was something people do, with goats, to even clear the Bay Bridge in San Francisco.

When you open Social Media, you will find 20 million stories of animal rescues. And people still discuss the movie, "War Horse" and even Elizabeth Taylor's "Black Beauty." Horses prove having a long life can be traumatic.

What if they faced the land where each state had horse run free. This would be better than the Disney zoo people want to see from the hotel.

The electric tag mimicking the invisible fence for dogs. With this invention we should all be aware, that now horses can graze on resting agricultural farmland, it's always tilled to be even and would take the horse traffic.
With this invention, horses could be rented for having marvelous fertilizer.
Perpetual Forest UK
We should think about the UK project to have running forest from rural, on the edges of farmland, near the highways like Washington, Oregon and Georgia, now some of Florida and keep the forest perpetual by running the forest in strips down the streets. Never a treeless area. Wildlife has a refuge and so does the air quality.
Abolish the horse lots of death.
Let the owners be able to contribute a small fee to let the horses have a range on each state, as they can, and would want the horses to end well. Have horse adoptions. Incorporate this with large acreage zoos and safaris. Learn from the research. Let the city zoos and vet colleges work in these areas, medical research for well being. Many tourist VRBOs to witness the reclaiming of land as it has been. The National Parks are very crowded in summers.
And let this be like the discussion of goats.
The more we plan these things, the sooner they will be a part of our lives.
