When we read Scriptures, and the text is written a rich man, the levels are as intertwined as Romans 8:28, Greek translations say all things intwined, work together for good, for those who Love the Lord and work according to His Purpose. This Scripture is James 1:11. Numerically easy to recognize. The Brother of Jesus Christ places this life lesson front and center in the first chapter. Scripture isn't recording bank accounts or follows. Scripture is recording, "The true nobility, love and serve The Lord." And then again, the Scriptures refer to the wealthy we clearly see first.
I love Lindsay Graham. So much so, when he took a different direction in the vast Political pathways, I would yell at the News. No, you are So Wrong. And I would be annoyed with warlike pathways from Senator Lindsey Graham's life events.
Really I did agree with him more often. So much so, years back I read Lindsey Graham was having a great time in college with his fraternity and in the middle of his freshman year, heyday, frat party, someone interrupted a Lindsey Graham speaking at the party event to tell him his parents had died. The attorney for the probate of his parent's will suggested Lindsey sell his parent's house, put his elementary age sister into well heeled elementary boarding schooling for girls and finish his college. His parents would want all their children to fulfill their years to educate and prosper.
Lindsey couldn't just end their family. He quit school and began to be the sole parent to his sister. Staying in the family house until she was well into college. Lindsey had a path the loss of both parents can create. No marriage. Nothing replaces the family loved. Life can be very temporary. And Lindsey used their funds for this. Going into the military to finish his pathway into the world.
Integrity. Today the top headline for Fox News was the net worth for Lindsay Graham. Between 1 and 2 million dollars. Integrity.
My family history solidified the respect and admiration I have for such a hardworking American Loyalty. Our great uncle was one who adopted his 2 nieces for his own children. Houses furnished. One adopted daughter had years of cancer treatments. Grandkids - two had college paid for. 8 had brand new cars to begin college. One grand had the Way paid for when unemployment loomed. Legacy of very heralded Christmases and Easters. Love, Loyalty and a Grand Scale of Love given.
My great uncle William Carey Graves was the Majority Leader of the Texas Senate for 16 years. William Carey Graves was Governor for the day during this term. The Governor went out of town and a party was held in the Governor's mansion by Uncle Carey. William Carey Graves founded departments in the Dallas Police when he was the Chief of Police. Fire Chief. Dallas City Council. Judge.
When Uncle Carey was eventually elected out of office, he went home to reinvent his roof. His house was purchased in the days of cash sales during his attorney days and sat on a hill overlooking Downtown Dallas. The Reunion Ball Building. This made the house 3 stories due to the hill. And he got up there, in retirement in 1961, and used the old asbestos rolls like this: keep old roll, put hot tar down, roll another asbestos roll. tar, place asbestos shingles. In 1991, his only child, daughter Maxine had an F1 tornado in the yard. Some trees fell. The roof was there for Kingdom Come.
Uncle Carey grew up on a farm in Washington Parish, Louisiana. And when his dad was too old, he didn't know what to do. Carey bought the farm and farmed for his dad. Who remained all his life on his decades of farming farm.
Uncle Carey reinvented roofing because... Uncle Carey needed to have a very affordable roof in retirement. And the farm had to pay for the farm mortgage. And did.
When Uncle Carey died, he died in his sleep, recovering from successful cancer surgery just a handful of years later. His 60 x 60 farm garden was going strong overlooking downtown Dallas. The yard and house in gleaming form from his continual interest and labor. Always a Believer. Always loved Jesus Christ.
That's exactly why I admired Lindsey Graham so.
