Mark 9:42-50 ~ Be at peace with each other

Mikveh purification pool at the second temple, Jerusalem. This is one of the largest examples of the difference between the old testament and the new testament. In the old testament, to approach the temple of the Lord, people had to purify themselves. "Yom Kippur" means "Day of Atonement, the one day that the people's sins were forgiven as only the priest could enter the holy of holies to ask forgiveness for them from the Lord. 7"Sir," the invalid replied, "I have no one to help me into the pool when the water is stirred. While I am trying to get in, someone else goes down ahead of me." John 5: 8 Then Jesus said to him, "Get up! Pick up your mat and walk." 9 At once the man was cured; he picked up his mat and walked. The old testament has fallen people when we really look at the stories in the bible, we do not see a sunday school lesson, but redemption for the fallen from a merciful God. The jews waited for many years by the pool and one person could get into the water when God stirred the water, but in the new testament, we see over and over that during the life of Jesus, He had compassion. He loved us and He healed multitudes. He was God, he saw our flaws and he chose to die for us. Christmas is the joy of God deciding to brave it in our world. Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord! Jesus Christ is life, and the life was the light of men. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. John 1: 9 The true light, which enlightens everyone, was coming into the world.

Mark 9:42-50

42 "And if anyone causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to be thrown into the sea with a large millstone tied around his neck. 43 If your hand causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life maimed than with two hands to go into hell, where the fire never goes out. 45 And if your foot causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life crippled than to have two feet and be thrown into hell. 47 And if your eye causes you to sin, pluck it out. It is better for you to enter the kingdom of God with one eye than to have two eyes and be thrown into hell, 48 where
" 'their worm does not die,
and the fire is not quenched.' 49 Everyone will be salted with fire.
50 "Salt is good, but if it loses its saltiness, how can you make it salty again? Have salt in yourselves, and be at peace with each other."

Psalm 27

8 You have said, “Seek my face.”
My heart says to you,
“Your face, Lord, do I seek.”
9 Hide not your face from me.
Turn not your servant away in anger,
O you who have been my help.
Cast me not off; forsake me not,
O God of my salvation!
10 For my father and my mother have forsaken me,
but the Lord will take me in.

11 Teach me your way, O Lord,
and lead me on a level path
because of my enemies.
12 Give me not up to the will of my adversaries;
for false witnesses have risen against me,
and they breathe out violence.

13 I believe that I shall look upon the goodness of the Lord
in the land of the living!
14 Wait for the Lord;
be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord!
