Psalm 1 Listen
1 Blessed is the man
who walks not in the counsel of the wicked,
nor stands in the way of sinners,
nor sits in the seat of scoffers;
2 but his delight is in the law of the Lord,
and on his law he meditates day and night.
3 He is like a tree
planted by streams of water
that yields its fruit in its season,
and its leaf does not wither.
In all that he does, he prospers.
4 The wicked are not so,
but are like chaff that the wind drives away.
5 Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment,
nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous;
6 for the Lord knows the way of the righteous,
but the way of the wicked will perish.
~ He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither.
Blessed isn't just happy, blessed is deeper. Blessed is having the inner peace and approval of God. None of us exist day to day prancing and leaping in joy. Like the Angel Oak, our lives will see difficulties or opportunities for growth. This Angel Oak was 1,000 years old when Columbus arrived in the New World and is the oldest know living thing east of the Mississippi River. The Angel Oak has survived floods, earthquakes, human interference and hurricanes. The Angel Oak was injured during Hurricane Hugo, but recovered.
Romans 5:1-5
1 Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, 2 through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we boast in the hope of the glory of God. 3 Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; 4 perseverance, character; and character, hope. 5 And hope does not put us to shame, because God's love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.
