Psalm 9
I will give thanks to the Lord with my whole heart
I will recount all of your wonderful deeds.
I will be glad and exult in you;
I will sing praise to your name, O Most High.
3 When my enemies turn back,
they stumble and perish before your presence.
4 For you have maintained my just cause;
you have sat on the throne, giving righteous judgment.
5 You have rebuked the nations; you have made the wicked perish;
you have blotted out their name forever and ever.
6 The enemy came to an end in everlasting ruins;
their cities you rooted out;
the very memory of them has perished.
But the Lord sits enthroned forever;
He has established His throne for justice,
8 and He judges the world with righteousness;
He judges the peoples with uprightness.
9 The Lord is a stronghold for the oppressed,
a stronghold in times of trouble.
10 And those who know your name put their trust in you,
for you, O Lord, have not forsaken those who seek you.
11 Sing praises to the Lord, who sits enthroned in Zion!
Tell among the peoples his deeds!
12 For he who avenges blood is mindful of them;
he does not forget the cry of the afflicted.
13 Be gracious to me, O Lord!
See my affliction from those who hate me,
O you who lift me up from the gates of death,
14 that I may recount all your praises,
that in the gates of the daughter of Zion
I may rejoice in your salvation.
15 The nations have sunk in the pit that they made;
in the net that they hid, their own foot has been caught.
16 The Lord has made himself known; he has executed judgment;
the wicked are snared in the work of their own hands.
Selah
17 The wicked shall return to Sheol,
all the nations that forget God.
18 For the needy shall not always be forgotten,
and the hope of the poor shall not perish forever.
19 Arise, O Lord! Let not man prevail;
let the nations be judged before you!
20 Put them in fear, O Lord!
Let the nations know that they are but men!

On Friday, we were So Out of Quarantine Vaccination Time! We went to see my mother in Hospice Care and my mother-in-law to the first restaurant indoors since January 2020. And we wore masks.
And - Today - we went to Church! Oh, The Almighty God is Good.
To sing in the Choir of Heaven in God's House is for more reassuring than any remedy. As wonderful as holding on to the Fringe of Jesus. Even in masks, as calming as:
Psalm 131
O Lord, my heart is not lifted up;
my eyes are not raised too high;
I do not occupy myself with things
too great and too marvelous for me.
But I have calmed and quieted my soul,
like a weaned child with its mother;
like a weaned child is my soul within me.
O Israel, hope in the Lord
from this time forth
and
forevermore.
This week I met 3 young people telling me in Bravado irritation, weariness and fear how fearful our times are. How difficult the stress is. Their young friends suffer and we should be mindful. Yes, we all are suffering the times. Not necessarily in the same ways, but loss of income or loss of parents or loss of loved one or loss of employment.
And then two items from the news caught my interest. One was the egging attack on an agenda based major news station sent to an easy, soft-ball story in the national news station van. Eggs were pelted, reporters were chased, the van was rocked. The crowd yelled at them and called them Liars.
Then a story of TikTok. Climate Change and the Youth.
We want to live in the Way, the Truth and the Life. We don't want History to lie to cover up needed repairs, glorious determination of improvement and the joy our families found in real life as they made their path. Certainly, we don't want to be handed fear as an untruth to fake unite any group. Yesterday, we looked at Scripture and we can find almost pristine, intact 300 Chapters of the Bible from the 1st and 2nd centuries. This Scripture is at the University of Michigan and is called Papyrus 46. At that time - When Jesus spoke of His Church, His Church didn't exist. When Jesus spoke of the 3 cities and their Archeological Histories - Papyrus 46 - would have found these cities alive and well. John is recorded as his long life is celebrated and, now, we have historical records of the Roman Empire assuring this is entirely true.
North Carolina has a Cypress Tree 2,600 Years Old.
Today, the Daily Mail reports New Zealand has found a tree found living to be a similar age.
And although the tree, a Swamp Kauri, has died, the conifers on the deeper side of the massive tree are alive. Green. The rings will be studied to see massive weather events. It is 60 Tons in measure and was 2,000 years old. And we will find living trees will be coaxed from the green conifers. Found during the building of a Power Plant. An Industrial find, with ecological impact. Green living trees will be coaxed.
The Scientists believe, the rings of the New Zealand Swamp Kauri is going to tell us of prior polar ice melts. And survival.
And if you look in the Amazon, you will find the Grandmother of the Jungle.
900 years old, the largest tree know to exist in the Amazon.
What the rings tell us with History:
We learn of unheard of tornadoes in Europe and so many lightning strike kills of pedestrians and travelers in the 200 A.D. time period, miracles of weather prayers answered recorded by Roman Historians about Christians. And The extreme weather events of 535–536 were the most severe and protracted short-term episodes of cooling in the Northern Hemisphere in the last 2,000 years possibly caused by an extensive atmospheric dust veil, possibly resulting from a large volcanic eruption. Effects were widespread, causing unseasonable weather, crop failures, and famines.
The Byzantine historian Procopius, 536 AD, in his report on the wars with the Vandals, "during this year a most dread portent took place. For the sun gave forth its light without brightness … and it seemed exceedingly like the sun in eclipse, for the beams it shed were not clear". In 538, the Roman statesman Cassiodorus also stated that the light of the sun was weak and that crops had failed. Michael the Syrian (1126–1199), a patriarch of the Syriac Orthodox Church, recorded that during 536–537 the sun shone feebly for a year and a half. The Gaelic Irish Annals: "A failure of bread in the year 536 AD" – the Annals of Ulster. "A failure of bread from the years 536–539 AD. " Further phenomena were reported by a number of independent contemporary sources: Low temperatures, even snow during the summer (snow reportedly fell in August in China, which caused the harvest there to be delayed)"A dense, dry fog" in the Middle East, China and Europe Drought in Peru, which affected the Moche culture.
Tree ring analysis by dendrochronologist Mike Baillie, of the Queen's University of Belfast, shows abnormally little growth in Irish oak in 536 and another sharp drop in 542, after a partial recovery. Ice cores from Greenland and Antarctica show evidence of substantial sulfate deposits in around 534 ± 2, which is evidence of an extensive acidic dust veil.
We should not ask the younger generation to be afraid of Climate Change.
Or celebrate their fears. The earth has had historically profound weather pattern changes. 1500 AD during the reign of Queen Elizabeth I, was the little ice age. The glaciers in Alaska have reported intense shrinkage for 200 plus years. Well before Carbon emissions.
We don't worship the creation. We worship the Creator. Even the environment, weather have aspects of being the Prodigal Son. We worship Father God who sends His Son to save the world. He upholds the Universe with the Power of His Word. God of Love. God of Encouragement.
The Scriptures are honest. Psalm 107 reports the fears of mankind being tossed by storms. All types of weather storms. We are not unique today to have storm, weather related fears. Jesus knows how to calm the wind and the waves. David recorded weather concerns. The Scriptures are alive with Love, Hope, Prayer and Encouragement.
Psalm 107
Oh give thanks to the Lord, for He is good,
for His steadfast love endures forever!
Let the redeemed of the Lord say so,
whom He has redeemed from trouble
and gathered in from the lands,
from the east and from the west,
from the north and from the south.
Some wandered in desert wastes,
finding no way to a city to dwell in;
hungry and thirsty,
their soul fainted within them.
Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble,
and he delivered them from their distress.
He led them by a straight way
till they reached a city to dwell in.
Let them thank the Lord for his steadfast love,
for his wondrous works to the children of man!
For he satisfies the longing soul,
and the hungry soul he fills with good things.
Some sat in darkness and in the shadow of death,
prisoners in affliction and in irons,
for they had rebelled against the words of God,
and spurned the counsel of the Most High.
So he bowed their hearts down with hard labor;
they fell down, with none to help.
Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble,
and he delivered them from their distress.
He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death,
and burst their bonds apart.
Let them thank the Lord for his steadfast love,
for his wondrous works to the children of man!
For he shatters the doors of bronze
and cuts in two the bars of iron.
Some were fools through their sinful ways,
and because of their iniquities suffered affliction;
they loathed any kind of food,
and they drew near to the gates of death.
Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble,
and he delivered them from their distress.
He sent out his word and healed them,
and delivered them from their destruction.
Let them thank the Lord for his steadfast love,
for His wondrous works to the children of man!
And let them offer sacrifices of thanksgiving,
and tell of his deeds in songs of joy!
Some went down to the sea in ships,
doing business on the great waters;
they saw the deeds of the Lord,
His wondrous works in the deep.
For He commanded and raised the stormy wind,
which lifted up the waves of the sea.
They mounted up to heaven; they went down to the depths;
their courage melted away in their evil plight;
they reeled and staggered like drunken men
and were at their wits' end.
Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble,
and He delivered them from their distress.
He made the storm be still,
and the waves of the sea were hushed.
Then they were glad that the waters were quiet,
and He brought them to their desired haven.
Let them thank the Lord for His steadfast love,
for His wondrous works to the children of man!
Let them extol him in the congregation of the people,
and praise him in the assembly of the elders.
He turns rivers into a desert,
springs of water into thirsty ground,
a fruitful land into a salty waste,
because of the evil of its inhabitants.
He turns a desert into pools of water,
a parched land into springs of water.
And there he lets the hungry dwell,
and they establish a city to live in;
they sow fields and plant vineyards
and get a fruitful yield.
By His blessing they multiply greatly,
and He does not let their livestock diminish.
When they are diminished and brought low
through oppression, evil, and sorrow,
he pours contempt on princes
and makes them wander in trackless wastes;
but he raises up the needy out of affliction
and makes their families like flocks.
The upright see it and are glad,
and all wickedness shuts its mouth.
Whoever is wise, let him attend to these things;
let them consider
the steadfast love of the Lord.
