Psalm 127
Unless the Lord builds the house,
those who build it labor in vain.
Unless the Lord watches over the city,
the watchman stays awake in vain.
It is in vain that you rise up early
and go late to rest,
eating the bread of anxious toil;
for He gives to His Beloved sleep.
Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord,
the fruit of the womb a reward.
Like arrows in the hand of a warrior
are the children of one's youth.
Blessed is the man
who fills his quiver with them!
He shall not be put to shame
when he speaks with his enemies in the gate.
Genesis 26:28-30
They said, “We see plainly that the Lord has been with you. So we said, let there be a sworn pact between us, between you and us, and let us make a covenant with you, that you will do us no harm, just as we have not touched you and have done to you nothing but good and have sent you away in peace.
You are now the blessed of the Lord.”
So he made them a feast, and they ate and drank.
This is the pact of the Promised Child, Isaac.
And to read the peace pact is intriguing.
Genesis 26
23 From there he went up to Beersheba. 24 And the Lord appeared to him the same night and said, “I am the God of Abraham your father. Fear not, for I am with you and will bless you and multiply your offspring for my servant Abraham's sake.”
25 So he built an altar there and called upon the name of the Lord and pitched his tent there. And there Isaac's servants dug a well.
26 When Abimelech went to him from Gerar with Ahuzzath his adviser and Phicol the commander of his army,
27 Isaac said to them, “Why have you come to me, seeing that you hate me and have sent me away from you?”
28 They said, “We see plainly that the Lord has been with you. So we said, let there be a sworn pact between us, between you and us, and let us make a covenant with you, 29 that you will do us no harm, just as we have not touched you and have done to you nothing but good and have sent you away in peace. You are now the blessed of the Lord.”
30 So he made them a feast, and they ate and drank. 31 In the morning they rose early and exchanged oaths. And Isaac sent them on their way, and they departed from him in peace.
32 That same day Isaac's servants came and told him about the well that they had dug and said to him, “We have found water.”
33 He called it Shibah; therefore the name of the city is Beersheba to this day.
How would we put ourselves in this Scripture today? Isaac is facing someone, Abimelech, Abraham has had trouble with. This is Generational.
The Lord has given Isaac something larger than generational problems and people. The Lord has assured Isaac, even in fear, someone Greater is Here. With this day, Isaac is very capable, placing the pressures of a lifetime, under his feet. Or behind him.
These days we have been far and beyond the experiences of the last, departed generation. We have come through so much worldwide upheaval. Edward and I were watching a comedy in a grand hall about the Pandemic. We have even forgotten all the issues and fears we have experienced. Yet, all this old baggage is hanging about as we want normal back - - - yesterday.
In the effort to get on with life, I bet we all don't even consider what we felt as all the Pandemic was happening. Things like - "What is Colorado doing, they seem to have low numbers?" What is an N 95?
We place our fears, our generational oppositions, our opportunities into the Lord's Willing Ears and Hands in Prayer. Gratitude for what we have lived past. Lived. And not as weary of the challenges we have faced for many years.
Abba, Father,
Bless the Lord, O my soul,
and all that is within me,
bless His Holy Name!
2 Bless the Lord, O my soul,
and forget not all His benefits,
3 Who forgives all your iniquity,
who heals all your diseases,
4 Who redeems your life from the pit,
Who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy,
5 Who satisfies you with good
so that your youth is renewed like the eagle's.
6 The Lord works righteousness
and justice for all who are oppressed.
7 He made known his ways to Moses,
his acts to the people of Israel.
8 The Lord is merciful and gracious,
slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love.
9 He will not always chide,
nor will he keep his anger forever.
10 He does not deal with us according to our sins,
nor repay us according to our iniquities.
11 For as high as the heavens are above the earth,
so great is His steadfast love toward those who fear Him
12 As far as the east is from the west,
so far does He remove our transgressions from us.
13 As a father shows compassion to his children,
so the Lord shows compassion to those who fear Him.
14 For He knows our frame;
He remembers that we are dust.
15 As for man, his days are like grass;
he flourishes like a flower of the field;
16 for the wind passes over it, and it is gone,
and its place knows it no more.
17 But the steadfast Love of the Lord
is from everlasting to everlasting
on those who fear Him,
and His righteousness to children's children,
18 To those who keep His covenant
and remember to do His commandments.
19 The Lord has established His throne in the Heavens,
and His kingdom rules over all.
20 Bless the Lord, O you His angels,
you mighty ones who do His word,
obeying the voice of His word!
21 Bless the Lord, all His hosts,
His ministers, who do His will!
22 Bless the Lord, all His works,
in all places of His dominion.
Bless the Lord, O my soul!
Abba, Father God,
Help our prayers be fruitful.
Let our conversation about joy, need, praise.
Let it be humble, let it be uplifting.
Thank you, Father, You incline your ear whenever we call upon You.
Heal the hurting, uplift the families.
Send Your vast blessings. Father God,
You are truly are as vast as the Universe itself and as gentle as a breeze.
Speak the Word, Father God, and we know Your healing.
Prayers for healing in health are being answered.
We pray for the work being done at our house
to be well, in patience and in kindness. Completion of the Project.
Dwell in us, Father.
Help the ones we Love to have You dwelling in them.
Help us to Seek You First.
And we will finish well in Jesus Christ.
Praise Your gift of life in Jesus.
