Psalm 72:1-14
Give the king your justice, O God,
and your righteousness
to the royal son!
2 May he judge your people with righteousness,
and your poor with justice!
3 Let the mountains bear prosperity for the people,
and the hills, in righteousness!
4 May he defend the cause of the poor of the people,
give deliverance to the children of the needy,
and crush the oppressor!
5 May they fear You while the sun endures,
and as long as the moon, throughout all generations!
6 May he be like rain
that falls on the mown grass,
like showers that water the earth!
7 In his days
may the righteous flourish,
and peace abound, till the moon be no more!
8 May he have dominion from sea to sea,
to the ends of the earth!
9 May desert tribes bow down before him,
and his enemies lick the dust!
10 May the kings of Tarshish
and of the coastlands
render him tribute;
may the kings of Sheba and Seba
bring gifts!
11 May all kings fall down before him,
all nations serve Him!
12 For he delivers the needy when he calls,
the poor and him who has no helper.
13 He has pity on the weak and the needy,
and saves the lives of the needy.
14 From oppression and violence
he redeems their life,
and
precious is their blood in his sight.
David lived a hard life. Lived rough. Hired out to other nations as a mercenary. And then, when he could take revenge for all the people who had simply forgotten David, the boy hero, who had married the daughter of King Saul. He began a remarkable career of humanitarian.
Nebuchadnezzar was following in this same Path. He wanted to find the best of all the cultures. He had shown Judah mercy to be a puppet king, but they refused to be obedient. And Nebuchadnezzar began his 3 battles ending in taking slaves. Starting at the top working down. Nebuchadnezzar had the given the slaves the term, exiles. He wanted the cultures to gather, to worship, in their own culture. He allowed the higher ups to have property. Some, like Ezekiel, he gave a house by one of their rivers.
We all have heard of the humanitarian cylinder of Cyrus the Great. He was continuing down a path history sometimes forgets of being a leader, displaying compassion.
David lived in 1000 BC. Abraham lived in between 3000 and 2000 BC. Abraham is called a friend of God, his nature was continuously asked for God's mercy on His People.
Psalm 72 is unique and very special. Solomon remembers why Israel increased so much during David's reign, allowing Solomon the culture to expand further.
Abba, Father!
Happy New Year
Anticipation!
WE PRAY
BLESSINGS
and
GIVE THANKS
FOR YOUR BLESSINGS
THANK YOU
The safety
of Your people.
Houston is under a tornado watch, hail, thunderstorms,
freezing cold, cold temperatures
from 78' to 28' in one day.
Please pray for our safety.
Perhaps God will be merciful
and we will have mild snow... instead!
We have been in hyperdrive to prepare.
The safety
of those
helping the earth
to heal.
Let evil and practicing evil
depart
far
from us
and our children.
With Your Help
We will act justly
and to love mercy
and to walk humbly with You, our God.
