Joshua 24:15 ~ As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord

Joshua 24:15

As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord

2020 Anno Domini, in the year of the Lord, we have experienced a sampling of 34,000 emotions.

The Exodus is God's Path for Security. Revealing His Heart for us having a Hope and Future.

The oldest known inscription of the name "Yahweh," Exodus 3. Dated c. 1400 BC. Discovered in the Temple built by the Egyptian Pharaoh Amenhotep III in Soleb, modern day Sudan. Refers to a group of nomadic followers of Yahweh, possibly Israelites. The Word "Joseph" is inscribed on Amenhotep III's funeral Statue. Vizier Joseph. Amenhotep worshipped one God only. King Tut was his son.

Emotionally, Physically and as a Calendar -
What did this Exodus look like?

Many times in the Exodus, the people fear God. Yar, reverence.  The Purpose of the Cross of Jesus, to remove barriers. And The Scriptures are Living and Active - the emotional responses of God's people
have been something our God has noted and cared for all these millenniums. God sees mankind and sees the Light of Jesus in His People. God saves the world in Jesus Christ.

Exodus 15:6-16

Your right hand, O Lord, glorious in power,
your right hand, O Lord, shatters the enemy.
7 In the greatness of your majesty you overthrow your adversaries;
you send out your fury; it consumes them like stubble.
8 At the blast of your nostrils the waters piled up;
the floods stood up in a heap;
the deeps congealed in the heart of the sea.
9 The enemy said, ‘I will pursue, I will overtake,
I will divide the spoil, my desire shall have its fill of them.
I will draw my sword; my hand shall destroy them.’
10 You blew with your wind; the sea covered them;
they sank like lead in the mighty waters.

11 “Who is like you, O Lord, among the gods?
Who is like you, majestic in holiness,
awesome in glorious deeds, doing wonders?
12 You stretched out your right hand;
the earth swallowed them.

13 “You have led in your steadfast love the people whom you have redeemed;
you have guided them by your strength to your holy abode.
14 The peoples have heard; they tremble;
pangs have seized the inhabitants of Philistia.
15 Now are the chiefs of Edom dismayed;
trembling seizes the leaders of Moab;
all the inhabitants of Canaan have melted away.
16 Terror and dread fall upon them;
because of the greatness of your arm, they are still as a stone,

Glory, fury, trembling, terror and dread.

Exodus 16
Provision: Manna tastes like coriander seed, white, and the taste of it was like wafers made with honey.

Exodus 17 Doubt
7 And he called the name of the place Massah and Meribah, because of the quarreling of the people of Israel, and because they tested the Lord by saying, “Is the Lord among us or not?”

Exodus 18
9 And Jethro rejoiced for all the good that the Lord had done to Israel

11 Now I know that the Lord is greater than all gods, because in this affair they dealt arrogantly with the people.”

Jethro sees rejoicing, acts of God, work to wear out, isolation and worn out.

Exodus 18:23 Emotional Advice

"If you do this and God so commands, you will be able to stand the strain, and all these people will go home satisfied."

Exodus 18:19 Encourage, Teach and Edify, Ephesians 4 advice. Prayer.
Listen now to me and I will give you some advice, and may God be with you. You must be the people's representative before God and bring their disputes to him.

Exodus 19:5
Now if you obey me fully and keep my covenant, then out of all nations you will be my treasured possession. Although the whole earth is mine

Exodus 29:31
"Take the ram for the ordination and cook the meat in a sacred place."

Exodus 29:45
Then I will dwell among the Israelites and be their God.

Exodus 29:37
For seven days make atonement for the altar and consecrate it. Then the altar will be most holy, and whatever touches it will be holy.

Exodus 30
Finding Sacred

Exodus 30:31
Say to the Israelites, 'This is to be my sacred anointing oil for the generations to come."

Exodus 30:32
Do not pour it on anyone else's body and do not make any other oil using the same formula. It is sacred, and you are to consider it sacred.

Exodus 30:36
Grind some of it to powder and place it in front of the ark of the covenant law in the tent of meeting, where I will meet with you. It shall be most holy to you.

So many times, Jesus and the Gospels report what happens 'immediately'. When we thoughtfully consider Jesus wrote of the process of the Prodigal Son - we realize the Exodus certainly takes time. Finding each day, the process of every day and the ability to find Sacred.

Joshua 24 ~ as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord

Joshua 24

Joshua gathered all the tribes of Israel to Shechem and summoned the elders, the heads, the judges, and the officers of Israel. And they presented themselves before God. 2 And Joshua said to all the people, “Thus says the Lord, the God of Israel, ‘Long ago, your fathers lived beyond the Euphrates, Terah, the father of Abraham and of Nahor; and they served other gods. 3 Then I took your father Abraham from beyond the River and led him through all the land of Canaan, and made his offspring many. I gave him Isaac. 4 And to Isaac I gave Jacob and Esau. And I gave Esau the hill country of Seir to possess, but Jacob and his children went down to Egypt. 5 And I sent Moses and Aaron, and I plagued Egypt with what I did in the midst of it, and afterward I brought you out.

6 “‘Then I brought your fathers out of Egypt, and you came to the sea. And the Egyptians pursued your fathers with chariots and horsemen to the Red Sea. 7 And when they cried to the Lord, he put darkness between you and the Egyptians and made the sea come upon them and cover them; and your eyes saw what I did in Egypt. And you lived in the wilderness a long time. 8 Then I brought you to the land of the Amorites, who lived on the other side of the Jordan. They fought with you, and I gave them into your hand, and you took possession of their land, and I destroyed them before you. 9 Then Balak the son of Zippor, king of Moab, arose and fought against Israel. And he sent and invited Balaam the son of Beor to curse you, 10 but I would not listen to Balaam. Indeed, he blessed you. So I delivered you out of his hand. 11 And you went over the Jordan and came to Jericho, and the leaders of Jericho fought against you, and also the Amorites, the Perizzites, the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Girgashites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites. And I gave them into your hand. 12 And I sent the hornet before you, which drove them out before you, the two kings of the Amorites; it was not by your sword or by your bow. 13 I gave you a land on which you had not labored and cities that you had not built, and you dwell in them. You eat the fruit of vineyards and olive orchards that you did not plant.’

14 “Now therefore fear the Lord and serve him in sincerity and in faithfulness. Put away the gods that your fathers served beyond the River and in Egypt, and serve the Lord. 15 And if it is evil in your eyes to serve the Lord, choose this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your fathers served in the region beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you dwell.

But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”

16 Then the people answered, “Far be it from us that we should forsake the Lord to serve other gods, 17 for it is the Lord our God who brought us and our fathers up from the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery, and who did those great signs in our sight and preserved us in all the way that we went, and among all the peoples through whom we passed. 18 And the Lord drove out before us all the peoples, the Amorites who lived in the land.

Therefore we also will serve the Lord, for he is our God.”

19 But Joshua said to the people, “You are not able to serve the Lord, for he is a holy God. He is a jealous God; he will not forgive your transgressions or your sins. 20 If you forsake the Lord and serve foreign gods, then he will turn and do you harm and consume you, after having done you good.”

21 And the people said to Joshua, “No, but we will serve the Lord.”

22 Then Joshua said to the people, “You are witnesses against yourselves that you have chosen the Lord, to serve him.”

And they said, “We are witnesses.”

23 He said, “Then put away the foreign gods that are among you, and incline your heart to the Lord, the God of Israel.”

24 And the people said to Joshua, “The Lord our God we will serve, and his voice we will obey.” 25 So Joshua made a covenant with the people that day, and put in place statutes and rules for them at Shechem. 26 And Joshua wrote these words in the Book of the Law of God. And he took a large stone and set it up there under the terebinth that was by the sanctuary of the Lord.

27 And Joshua said to all the people, “Behold, this stone shall be a witness against us, for it has heard all the words of the Lord that he spoke to us. Therefore it shall be a witness against you, lest you deal falsely with your God.”

28 So Joshua sent the people away, every man to his inheritance.

29 After these things Joshua the son of Nun, the servant of the Lord, died, being 110 years old. 30 And they buried him in his own inheritance at Timnath-serah, which is in the hill country of Ephraim, north of the mountain of Gaash.

31 Israel served the Lord all the days of Joshua, and all the days of the elders who outlived Joshua and had known all the work that the Lord did for Israel.

32 As for the bones of Joseph, which the people of Israel brought up from Egypt, they buried them at Shechem, in the piece of land that Jacob bought from the sons of Hamor the father of Shechem for a hundred pieces of money. It became an inheritance of the descendants of Joseph.

33 And Eleazar the son of Aaron died, and they buried him at Gibeah, the town of Phinehas his son, which had been given him in the hill country of Ephraim.

This is a great Chapter on where we put our Trust.

Everything about the Exodus spoke of not being blessed. God made sure to say all of the Exodus was completely impossible. There was no chance.

Moses was not a Military General. Aaron wasn't a Diplomat. Moses wasn't with his people for years and years. Moses was a murderer, who was a Shepherd. A runaway.

The people didn't always get along. The Accommodations were unusual. Wars were fought by fierce opponents. The Land was occupied. For all they knew, the next Pharaoh would come get them.

Moses departed. The food source was unreliable. Not even water was reliable.

And yet there was an idea for Hope and a Future. Caught between Blessings and Curses.

Romans 10:9

If you declare with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

John 14:1

"Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me."

John 1:7

He came as a witness to testify concerning that light, so that through him all might believe.

Hebrews 1:3

He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power. After making purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high,

To know God, Jesus is God, is to know you want to see the Glory of God.

Abba,

There was no way man was going to form the Nation of Israel.
Malnourished in the desert. And You Created this Glory.

Prayer is finding we believe You, You find Your Creation to be good.
To believe You find Delight in mankind and want to save the world.

Matthew 5: 1-18 ~ sons of God

Matthew 5: 1-18

Seeing the crowds, he went up on the mountain, and when he sat down, his disciples came to him.

2 And he opened his mouth and taught them, saying:

3 “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

4 “Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.

5 “Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.

6 “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.

7 “Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy.

8 “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.

9 “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.

10 “Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness' sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

11 “Blessed are you when others revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account. 12 Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

13 “You are the salt of the earth, but if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltiness be restored? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled under people's feet.

14 “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.

17 “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. 18 For truly, I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not an iota, not a dot, will pass from the Law until all is accomplished

The Law is mankind living by every Word of God.

The Beatitudes. Suffering - Not what we are fond of. Of the Chapters in the Bible the Biblically Uncomfortable are going to be vocal about - we have arrived.

If we are going to start out honestly, and on a good foot - we  do have a good disregard for suffering. Bam. We have started out where a Good Father would want us to.

If we were so very fortunate to sit with Jesus, Wonderful Jesus. Wonderful Counselor. Almighty God. We would have seen Jesus speak this with probably puzzled Disciples. It's puzzling. And joyful the Disciples might be - finding the Purpose of God is to fulfill the Goodness and Hope of Future for God's Plans.

The Disciples are fully informed why Jesus delights in His Father's Good Will. Jesus Heals - Everyone. Jesus walks on water. Jesus  fully is the exact nature of His Father. Because God shares His Goodness.

Why the poor in spirit, mourning, meek,  hungering and persecuted?
For the Exact Reason the Disciples were Puzzled. The Old Testament says if you do what God wants - then you are BLESSED.

A Political History of Medicare and Prescription Drug Coverage
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2690175/
When observers look back at "2003", they will wonder why it took 38 years to authorize Medicare coverage for such a critical component of modern medicine... 2003, that's 3 years after the second millennium A.D.

We have someone, we love dearly, who is not a huge fan of President Trump. Let me also say this person is an extremely busy person and follows stereotypes, more than the exact news. And this person is fond of saying, drum roll, he says - Donald Trump was a Democrat before he was a Republican - watch out. Which is an unusual statement, because our loved one is a Democrat.

If you go back,
back,
back in time
and watch the YouTube Videos 19 days before the 2016 Presidential Election, you will find this speech turns out with an amazing confession the first 2, 3 sentences.

Congratulations, President Trump, you have turned out to make the word - Elitist - A Great New Deal. Thank You.

Medicare purchases more medications than any other Nation. And we, Citizens of the USA, will be able to afford the medications, the same as Mexico, Canada, Germany and the U.K. Right here in the USA where the boxes holding the RX are created.

President Trump makes the aisle between the warring Political Parties look like a Haven. Maybe we can find enough Peace to reunite the Nation under this Prosperity we have all enjoyed.

God Bless the People of The United States of America. Especially, our President Donald John Trump.

Here are Presbyterian USA Prayers for the President and the USA.

Almighty God,
You have given us this good land as our heritage.
Make us always remember your generosity
and constantly do your will.
Bless our land with honest industry,
sound learning,
and an honorable way of life.
Save us from violence, discord, and confusion;
from pride and arrogance,
and from every evil way.
Make us who come from many nations
with many different languages
a united people.
Defend our liberties
and give those whom we have entrusted with the authority of government
Donald J. Trump President
Mike Pence Vice-President
the spirit of wisdom,
that there might be justice and peace in our land.
When times are prosperous, let our hearts be thankful;
and, in troubled times, do not let our trust in you fail.
We ask all this through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen

Righteous God, you rule the nations.
Guard brave men and women
who risk themselves in battle for their country.
Give them compassion for enemies
who also fight for patriotic causes.
Keep our sons and daughters from hate that hardens,
or from scorekeeping with human lives.
Though they must be at war,
let them live for peace,
as eager for agreement as for victory.
Encourage them as they encourage one another,
and never let hard duty separate them
from loyalty to your Son, our Lord, Jesus Christ. Amen.

In your sight nations rise and fall,
and pass through times of peril.
Now when our land is troubled,
be near to judge and save.
May leaders be led by your wisdom;
may they search your will and see it clearly.
If we have turned from your way,
help us to reverse our ways and repent.
Give us your light and your truth to guide us;
through Jesus Christ,
who is Lord of this world, and our Savior.

Grant, O God,
that your holy and life-giving Spirit
may so move every human heart,
that the barriers which divide us may crumble,
suspicions disappear,
and hatreds cease,
and that, with our divisions healed,
we might live in justice and peace;
through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

God of heaven and earth,
in your Word you have given us a vision of that holy city
to which the nations of the world bring their glory.
Look upon and visit the cities of the earth.
Renew the ties of mutual regard that form our civic life.
Send us honest and able leaders.
Help us to eliminate poverty, prejudice, and oppression,
that peace may prevail with righteousness,
and justice with order,
and that men and women from various cultures
and with differing talents
may find with one another
the fulfillment of their humanity;
through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

We are praying to quiet the Storms and Hurricanes
and only provide calm rain.

So Help us God.
In the Name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

Psalm 4 ~ put your trust in the Lord

Psalm 4

A Psalm of David.

Answer me when I call, O God of my righteousness!
You have given me relief when I was in distress.
Be gracious to me and hear my prayer!

2 O men, how long shall my honor be turned into shame?
How long will you love vain words and seek after lies?
Selah
3 But know that the Lord has set apart the godly for himself;
the Lord hears when I call to him.

4 Be angry, and do not sin;
ponder in your own hearts on your beds, and be silent. Selah
5 Offer right sacrifices,
and put your trust in the Lord.

6 There are many who say, “Who will show us some good?
Lift up the light of your face upon us, O Lord!”
7 You have put more joy in my heart
than they have when their grain and wine abound.

8 In peace I will both lie down and sleep;
for you alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety.

Labels and extremes.
Words are sometimes turned inside out. Offering little in the way of a safe label. It's hard to find the safe, neutral middle ground. My father used to say, "Nothing is fair."

Words change meanings - therefore - I've noticed during this year, we don't dress outside our comfort level. During the Pandemic, people laughed and asked if you were wearing pants/trousers for Zoom. Footwear is only about comfort.

Comfort.
Will we argue the right of someone to take over federal buildings and then say Federal Action is unnecessary? Do we believe the building will be returned in good and fair shape? If we have riots for a month, do we anticipate the police are well rested and encouraged in their work? And why wouldn't we want the National Guard or Federal Employees we all see on Police TV shows - to give law and order support?

How will we avoid stereotypes and opinions to find Expectations of Goodness?
This in a year of Avalanche in Information, with massive data, information overload and a literal Avalanche of Changing Data and Opinion on a world basis? Our facts are changing because the data is so observed in a critical time - with changing information.

When we need a compass, when we have put 10 million opinions and facts from social media ideas, television, opinions and conversations?

1 John 4:19
"We love because he first loved us."

We believe with our hearts, confess with our mouths and give what God has put in us in our words, deeds and actions.

James 1:27
Pure and undefiled religion before our God and Father is this: to care for orphans and widows in their distress, and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.

Deuteronomy 14:29
Then the Levite (because he has no portion or inheritance among you), the foreigner, the fatherless, and the widow within your gates may come and eat and be satisfied. And the LORD your God will bless you in all the work of your hands.

Psalm 34:14
Turn from evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it.

Psalm 82:3
Defend the cause of the weak and fatherless; uphold the rights of the afflicted and oppressed.

Proverbs 31:9
Open your mouth, judge righteously, and defend the cause of the poor and needy.

Isaiah 56:1
This is what the LORD says: "Maintain justice and do what is right, for My salvation is coming soon, and My righteousness will be revealed.

Isaiah 58:6
Is not the fast I have chosen to break the chains of wickedness, to untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free, and tear off every yoke?

Jeremiah 21:12
O house of David, this is what the LORD says: 'Administer justice every morning, and rescue the victim of robbery from the hand of his oppressor, or My wrath will go forth like fire and burn with none to extinguish it because of their evil deeds.

Jeremiah 22:3
This is what the LORD says: Administer justice and righteousness. Rescue the victim of robbery from the hand of his oppressor. Do no wrong or violence to the foreigner, the fatherless, or the widow. Do not shed innocent blood in this place.

Jeremiah 35:15
Time and time again I have sent you all My servants the prophets, proclaiming: 'Turn now, each of you, from your wicked ways, and correct your actions. Do not go after other gods to serve them. Live in the land that I have given to you and your fathers.' But you have not inclined your ear or listened to Me.

Ezekiel 18:31
Cast away from yourselves all the transgressions you have committed, and fashion for yourselves a new heart and a new spirit. Why should you die, O house of Israel?

Zephaniah 2:3
Seek the LORD, all you humble of the earth, who carry out His justice. Seek righteousness; seek humility. Perhaps you will be sheltered on the Day of the LORD's anger.

Abba, Father God,

In this season, we have been afraid. Give us Your Spirit of Power and not fear.

Help us to Seek You First. To see Glimpses and
more of Heaven on earth.

To understand in this fearful season, we seek not to attract attention to us. Help us to have wisdom

to repress what is wrong and lift high what is Extremely Good. Bringing more Heaven to earth.

You have told us, You fight the Battle. Help us to help You.

We want to fill our lives and those we love with in this season with Prayer and Strength :

Jesus Christ, His Love, His Strength, His Joy, His Might. We want to live Your Victory. We want to have Assurance and be Encouraging. We want to see people You Love Thrive.

We want to have Kindness and Mercy in our Lives. We want the Path to be Straight. We will live in Your Footprints and be an example.

And we will bring Your Words to our Heart:

Luke 5:13
Jesus reached out his hand and touched the man. "I am willing."

John 5:17
Jesus said to them, "My Father is always at his work to this very day, and I too am working."

Mark 9:27
Jesus took him by the hand and lifted him to his feet, and he stood up.

To know the Scriptures is to know the Power of God.

About scripture-for-today.blogspot.com/

We believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He has saved all who call upon His name and rely on Him for His Grace. The Scriptures are living & active and are for understanding the Lord Almighty. Biblical readings are chosen from the Ecumenical Christian Church and the Nicene Council, 325 A.D., approved Apocrypha. People remember not just from reading, but by sight and orally- an image has been added as well as audio readings. God tends to link the passages together with fascinates - this blogger, Anne-Laurel Gardere

A simple blog, scripture-for-today.blogspot

This blog is pretty simple, but for a reason. This blog isn't about agenda or me, it is for the joy and love to found by reading the Scriptures. Ultimately, it is you and the Lord.

The Scriptures are Father God's letter to you. He wanted you to know more, to know He loves you.

About Me

My photo
Email registry at bottom.! “All Scripture is inspired by God” (2 Timothy 3:16). Men “moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God” (2 Peter 1:21). The Holy Spirit carried men along, moving and guiding them as they wrote in their own words what God wanted them to say. The Bible is unique; comprised of 80 separate books, & written over a period of thousands of years by more than 40 writers with one Author, spanning the centuries, different states of peace & war & different situations in life. The Bible answers the question: of who is God, who is man & what can their relationship can be. Although the Bible was written on perishable material and copied by hand for many centuries, its accuracy is not in doubt, proven by Dead Sea Scrolls and papyrus from 2,000 years. The Bible has survived persecution & criticism to be read with great interest in each generation. The Bible gives witness to the greatness of the Creator. A loving Father concerned for all of his creation. With each verse of the bible witnessing to God is love and the multitude & vastness of His attributes. The Bible was written for you. <><
