Romans 8 ~ in Christ Jesus

Jesus did knowingly and willing open His arms wide open to die upon a Cross. Jesus in opening His arms brought Salvation to the whole world through Himself.

Open arms, open heart,  12 open gates to Heaven. Life.

Psalm 103:12
As far as the east is from the west, so far does he remove our transgressions from us.

One of my friends posted today, "I've tried year 2021 for a few days, I'd like a refund and skip to Year 2022." If you agree, then this Psalm is for you:

Psalm 89

A Maskil of Ethan the Ezrahite.

 I will sing of the steadfast love of the Lord, forever;
    with my mouth I will make known your faithfulness to all generations.
2 For I said, “Steadfast love will be built up forever;
    in the heavens you will establish your faithfulness.”
3 You have said, “I have made a covenant with my chosen one;
    I have sworn to David my servant:
4 ‘I will establish your offspring forever,
    and build your throne for all generations.’” Selah

5 Let the heavens praise your wonders, O Lord,
    your faithfulness in the assembly of the holy ones!
6 For who in the skies can be compared to the Lord?
    Who among the heavenly beings is like the Lord,
7 a God greatly to be feared in the council of the holy ones,
    and awesome above all who are around him?
8 O Lord God of hosts,
    who is mighty as you are, O Lord,
    with your faithfulness all around you?
9 You rule the raging of the sea;
    when its waves rise, you still them.
10 You crushed Rahab like a carcass;
    you scattered your enemies with your mighty arm.
11 The heavens are yours; the earth also is yours;
    the world and all that is in it, you have founded them.
12 The north and the south, you have created them;
    Tabor and Hermon joyously praise your name.
13 You have a mighty arm;
    strong is your hand, high your right hand.
14 Righteousness and justice are the foundation of your throne;
    steadfast love and faithfulness go before you.
15 Blessed are the people who know the festal shout,
    who walk, O Lord, in the light of your face,
16 who exult in your name all the day
    and in your righteousness are exalted.
17 For you are the glory of their strength;
    by your favor our horn is exalted.
18 For our shield belongs to the Lord,
    our king to the Holy One of Israel.

19 Of old you spoke in a vision to your godly one, and said:
    “I have granted help to one who is mighty;
    I have exalted one chosen from the people.
20 I have found David, my servant;
    with my holy oil I have anointed him,
21 so that my hand shall be established with him;
    my arm also shall strengthen him.
22 The enemy shall not outwit him;
    the wicked shall not humble him.
23 I will crush his foes before him
    and strike down those who hate him.
24 My faithfulness and my steadfast love shall be with him,
    and in my name shall his horn be exalted.
25 I will set his hand on the sea
    and his right hand on the rivers.
26 He shall cry to me, ‘You are my Father,
    my God, and the Rock of my salvation.’
27 And I will make him the firstborn,
    the highest of the kings of the earth.
28 My steadfast love I will keep for him forever,
    and my covenant will stand firm for him.
29 I will establish his offspring forever
    and his throne as the days of the heavens.
30 If his children forsake my law
    and do not walk according to my rules,
31 if they violate my statutes
    and do not keep my commandments,
32 then I will punish their transgression with the rod
    and their iniquity with stripes,
33 but I will not remove from him my steadfast love
    or be false to my faithfulness.
34 I will not violate my covenant
    or alter the word that went forth from my lips.
35 Once for all I have sworn by my holiness;
    I will not lie to David.
36 His offspring shall endure forever,
    his throne as long as the sun before me.
37 Like the moon it shall be established forever,
    a faithful witness in the skies.” Selah

38 But now you have cast off and rejected;
    you are full of wrath against your anointed.
39 You have renounced the covenant with your servant;
    you have defiled his crown in the dust.
40 You have breached all his walls;
    you have laid his strongholds in ruins.
41 All who pass by plunder him;
    he has become the scorn of his neighbors.
42 You have exalted the right hand of his foes;
    you have made all his enemies rejoice.
43 You have also turned back the edge of his sword,
    and you have not made him stand in battle.
44 You have made his splendor to cease
    and cast his throne to the ground.
45 You have cut short the days of his youth;
    you have covered him with shame. Selah

46 How long, O Lord? Will you hide yourself forever?
    How long will your wrath burn like fire?
47 Remember how short my time is!
    For what vanity you have created all the children of man!
48 What man can live and never see death?
    Who can deliver his soul from the power of Sheol? Selah

49 Lord, where is your steadfast love of old,
    which by your faithfulness you swore to David?
50 Remember, O Lord, how your servants are mocked,
    and how I bear in my heart the insults of all the many nations,
51 with which your enemies mock, O Lord,
    with which they mock the footsteps of your anointed.

52 Blessed be the Lord forever!
Amen and Amen.

When God deliberately tells us an author, we should probably pay attention.

1 Kings 4:30-32
Solomon's wisdom surpassed the wisdom of all the people of the east and all the wisdom of Egypt. 31 For he was wiser than all other men, wiser than Ethan the Ezrahite, and Heman, Calcol, and Darda, the sons of Mahol, and his fame was in all the surrounding nations. 32 He also spoke 3,000 proverbs, and his songs were 1,005

The Psalms are not just poetry. The Psalms are the height and depth of the human heart. And display the willingness of relationship, how high, how wide God's Love to be clear and not place barriers going to Father God. God includes the Psalms to tell us we can go to God with any situation.  God's open arms, open heart, open gate Life

2 Chronicles 1
God said to Solomon, “Since this was in your heart instead of requesting riches or wealth or glory for yourself or death for your enemies— and since you have not even requested long life but have asked for wisdom and knowledge to govern My people over whom I have made you king— 12therefore wisdom and knowledge have been granted to you. And I will also give you riches and wealth and honor unlike anything given to the kings before you or after you.”

Matthew 6
32 For the Gentiles strive after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added unto you. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Today has enough trouble of its own.

Matthew 6 is Jesus telling us our willingness to put down our worries, fears. To Believe God and the One He has sent, Jesus Christ.

We could all understand Psalm 89 in our heart this season, at one time or another. God Answers Psalm 89. Our questions and doubts.  As the waves roll in. Father God will make them roll out again.

Romans 8

 There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.

2 For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death. 3 For God has done what the law, weakened by the flesh, could not do. By sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin, he condemned sin in the flesh, 4 in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. 5 For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit. 6 For to set the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace. 7 For the mind that is set on the flesh is hostile to God, for it does not submit to God's law; indeed, it cannot. 8 Those who are in the flesh cannot please God.

9 You, however, are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if in fact the Spirit of God dwells in you. Anyone who does not have the Spirit of Christ does not belong to him. 10 But if Christ is in you, although the body is dead because of sin, the Spirit is life because of righteousness. 11 If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you.

12 So then, brothers, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh. 13 For if you live according to the flesh you will die, but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live. 14 For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God.

15 For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, “Abba! Father!”

16 The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God

17 and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, provided we suffer with him in order that we may also be glorified with him.

18 For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us. 19 For the creation waits with eager longing for the revealing of the sons of God. 20 For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of him who subjected it, in hope 21 that the creation itself will be set free from its bondage to corruption and obtain the freedom of the glory of the children of God.

22 For we know that the whole creation has been groaning together in the pains of childbirth until now. 23 And not only the creation, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for adoption as sons, the redemption of our bodies. 24 For in this hope we were saved. Now hope that is seen is not hope. For who hopes for what he sees?
25 But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience.

26 Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words.

27 And he who searches hearts knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God. 28 And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose. 29 For those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, in order that he might be the firstborn among many brothers. 30 And those whom he predestined he also called, and those whom he called he also justified, and those whom he justified he also glorified.

31 What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? 32 He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, how will he not also with him graciously give us all things? 33 Who shall bring any charge against God's elect? It is God who justifies.
34 Who is to condemn? Christ Jesus is the one who died—more than that, who was raised—who is at the right hand of God, who indeed is interceding for us.

35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword? 36 As it is written,

“For your sake we are being killed all the day long;
    we are regarded as sheep to be slaughtered.”

37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.

38 For I am sure that
neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, 39 nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation,
will be able to separate us from
the love of God
in Christ Jesus our Lord.

1 Kings 21:17-29 ~ went about

God of Mercy. God of Forgiveness. God of Second Chances.

1 Kings 21:17-29

Then the word of the Lord came to Elijah the Tishbite, saying:
Go down to meet King Ahab of Israel, who rules in Samaria; he is now in the vineyard of Naboth, where he has gone to take possession. You shall say to him,
"Thus says the Lord: Have you killed, and also taken possession?" You shall say to him, "Thus says the Lord: In the place where dogs licked up the blood of Naboth, dogs will also lick up your blood."

Ahab said to Elijah, "Have you found me, O my enemy?"

He answered, "I have found you. Because you have sold yourself to do what is evil in the sight of the Lord, I will bring disaster on you; I will consume you, and will cut off from Ahab every male, bond or free, in Israel; and I will make your house like the house of Jeroboam son of Nebat, and like the house of Baasha son of Ahijah, because you have provoked me to anger and have caused Israel to sin. Also concerning Jezebel the Lord said, 'The dogs shall eat Jezebel within the bounds of Jezreel.' Anyone belonging to Ahab who dies in the city the dogs shall eat; and anyone of his who dies in the open country the birds of the air shall eat."

(Indeed, there was no one like Ahab, who sold himself to do what was evil in the sight of the Lord, urged on by his wife Jezebel. He acted most abominably in going after idols, as the Amorites had done, whom the Lord drove out before the Israelites.)

When Ahab heard those words, he tore his clothes and put sackcloth over his bare flesh; he fasted, lay in the sackcloth, and went about dejectedly.

Then the word of the Lord came to Elijah the Tishbite:
"Have you seen how Ahab has humbled himself before me? Because he has humbled himself before me, I will not bring the disaster in his days; but in his son's days I will bring the disaster on his house."

Ahab's corpse blood ended up being licked up by the dogs. Why did God go to the effort with Ahab, when the death of Ahab is 1 Kings 22 and the next prophet, Micaiah, condemns Ahab again.

Shalmaneser III's (859-824 BC) Kurkh Monolith names King Ahab

Ahab. Seventh King of Israel. His grandson will be put into the Davidic Line as he marries this  Not Davidic line in to Israel's Davidic Line. God has a sense of Humor. Yes, He does. The 3rd Commandment is to not have graven images. What you see is a Graven Image of Ahab. This just might be the awful Ahab.

Why point out Ahab is Samaritan and rules Samaria. Ahab fails to have Gratitude in an amazing scale. Astonishing.  Every problem he can find, he believes points out he isn't first or appreciated. Ahab always feels he is in lack of blessings. He sees the men of God as enemies. The King of Israel doesn't see glory. He ruled the Jews and doesn't know to listen to God or find His Beauty and Love. Ahab whines a lot.

Jesus knew the Samaritans had not always had Justice. John 4. A very early Gospel Chapter. The first person Jesus tells He is the Messiah of God is Samaritan and is a woman. Jesus didn't call down fire on the Samaritans when His Disciples asked Him to. Jesus understands and still would ask Ahab for gratitude and for humility. John 4 explains the Mercy of God didn't merely slide away.

When God speaks a Word of God, like the Goodness He finds in Creation, He is saying, "Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow." When someone hears from God, it's rare as Hezekiah when God gives Grace instead. A Word of God given to us is meant to be understood for Eternity.

And in whining and pouting, Ahab has lined up 'yes Sayers'.

1 Kings 22:8-9

 8 The king of Israel answered Jehoshaphat, “There is still one prophet through whom we can inquire of the Lord, but I hate him because he never prophesies anything good about me, but always bad. He is Micaiah son of Imlah.”

 “The king should not say such a thing,” Jehoshaphat (The King of Judah) replied.

 9 So the king of Israel called one of his officials and said, “Bring Micaiah son of Imlah at once.”

Why did God go to the effort with Ahab?

"Cowboys and Aliens" Movie answers.

Preacher: You just gotta have faith.

Doc: Faith, yeah, God’s been real good to me lately.  Now either he ain’t up there, or he don’t like me.

Preacher: Certainly you don’t expect the Lord to do everything for you, right?

You gotta earn His presence,

and then you gotta learn to recognize it,

and then you gotta act on it.

1 Kings 21 ends pretty quickly. Bam. Done.
The Lord has mercy on Ahab. Yet very, very unusually, He doesn't ask Elijah to return with the good news.

Like the hands in the photos, there isn't a connection, the hands do not hold.

Ahab failed to act upon the humility he'd found.

2 Corinthians 7:10

Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation and leaves no regret, but worldly sorrow brings death.

Recently, we talked about calamity revealing hearts. Elijah leaves no reply.  More importantly, neither does Ahab.

8 Even if I caused you sorrow by my letter, I do not regret it. Though I did regret it – I see that my letter hurt you, but only for a little while – 9 Yet now I am happy, not because you were made sorry, but because your sorrow led you to repentance. For you, became sorrowful as God intended and so were not harmed in any way by us.

10 Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation and leaves no regret, but worldly sorrow brings death.

11 See what this godly sorrow has produced in you: what earnestness, what eagerness to clear yourselves, what indignation, what alarm, what longing, what concern, what readiness to see justice done. At every point you have proved yourselves to be innocent in this matter.

Ahab explains in 1 Kings 22, very well what God has seen in Ahab.
Ahab wants to listen to happy news only and has his own soothsayers to give Ahab what he wants.  He doesn't want to hear from Micaiah. And when Ahab finds out the whole, intricate truth, Ahab feels God will let it all slide by while he hides, in plain sight, in plain garb. Ahab believes he can dance around and past God.

One has to applaud the Holy Spirit of God. He has given intricate truth to Ahab and given him every chance.

This detailed approach of God to save Ahab, again, is what we hope for in God's heart for us.

When we gaze at the details God gives to make the chance possible. Not a Word of God is wasted. See the Samaritans in John 4 as Blessed. See the Samaritans in Luke 9 as Blessed.

 Matthew 5:17
  "Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets;
I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them."

Galatians 6:10-19 ~ Be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might

During Jesus' lifetime and Ministry, a fire on the beach led to the discovery of Stained Glass.

And that was just the beginning of Histories, Cultures and People finding Unity in Jesus Christ, Son of God, Messiah. Salvation for the World.

In the First Century

Pliny, Roman author, a naturalist and natural philosopher, a naval and army commander of the early Roman Empire, and a friend of emperor Vespasian.

Pliny’s history of the accidental discovery of glass by Phoenician sailors (the same Nation provided archaeology and materials for David's Palace and the Temple). Shipwrecked sailors set their cooking pots on blocks of natron (soda) from their cargo, then built a fire under it on the beach. In the morning, the fire’s heat had melted the sand and soda mixture. When cooled and hardened this became glass. Romans had windows.

St. Denis Cathedral in Paris, still has small amounts of Stained Glass traced from the 12th Century. St. Denis was the Cathedral of Charlemagne. Charlemagne's success as a warrior, administrator and ruler is traced to Charlemagne's devotion for learning and education. His reign is the Carolingian Renaissance. Flowering scholarship of literature, art and architecture. Charlemagne came into contact with the culture and learning of other countries. He greatly increased the provision of monastic schools and scriptoria (book-copying) in Francia.

In the same era, Alfred the Great was learning from Roman history texts and beginning to record history.  King Alfred was pushing back the Vikings. The Siege of Paris was going to happen in 845. As the UK and France had gained in culture as trust and trade flourished, with histories and maps and understanding of the broader world going back to the Roman Empire.  The Nations serving God were people broadened to have learning and hospitals as well as flourishing trade. The Vikings served the gods and the one they loved the most was a god of war. To die in war to gain material goods, was the leadership of Vikings heritage from father to son. The glory of death.

Today, Cathedrals draw from Churches built in the 800s.
 Like St. Denis, we find history going back the 4th Century.

The 4th Century
Records Unity in Cathedrals in Archaeology

Cathedrals are built on Christians and pagan tombs. The History of Cathedrals is dissimilar cultures, by faith learn to work and live and live and marry together.

Since before the 4th Century, The Gospels have been layering John's Gospels Description of Jesus and His Works, Love and Fruitfulness.

Today Cathedrals

Many of which are major visitor attractions and which together welcome around 25 million visitors per year.  England's Cathedrals generate substantial local economic benefits of some £150 million each year within their urban economies and the UK employs 1885 people on a full-time basis. Cathedral visitors spend approximately £30 a day on a visit to a Cathedral City, but unfortunately very little of this revenue is received by the Cathedral as donations. The economic significance of English cathedrals.

Jesus told us of the Church of Jesus.
We find the History Of God's Blessings in the Church is still alive and working today.

Galatians 6:10-19

10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might.

Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.

Therefore, take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day,
and having done all,
to stand firm.

14 Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth,
and having put on the breastplate of righteousness,
15 and, as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace.
16 In all circumstances take up the shield of faith,
with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one;
17 and take the helmet of salvation,
and the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God,

18 Praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication.

To that end, keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints, 19 and also for me, that words may be given to me in opening my mouth boldly to proclaim
the mystery of the Gospel

The Goal of the Armor of God is Life.

To have faith and the trust to build like the Exodus did, a legacy for children. The hope of a culture built on building for family and children. Love.

A life of faith and prayer seems a fragile hope.

Like Papyrus of the First Century.
Like Stained Glass. I was fortunate one Christmas to receive a necklace of colorful almost dust, actually shards. And this is actual remnants of Roman glass. Stained Glass exists from 800 years ago, and maybe further back in other Cathedrals.

Stained Glass is sand, pummeled and heated, made into Beauty. Fragile and enduring.

Where do we want to place our Goals?
Fighting verbal battles of air. Reading the flaws of people.

Build the foundations to go forward in Jesus Christ
Fight for family and education. Trade. To promote Life for children. The Good Fight finds a strong shelter for Love to dwell. The purpose of God initiating marriage almost immediately in Genesis.

The Strength of His Might.

To Believe the Promises of God will find you a place of shelter.  God's Name is a Strong Tower to call upon. Scriptures record people exist in all ages and cultures with fear. The Scriptures and God's Love are not to be fearmongering. God wants His People to have a Hope and Future.

The Armor of God

John 3:17
For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world,
but to save the world through him.

Proverbs 18:10
The name of the LORD is a fortified tower; the righteous run to it and are safe.

Stand Firm

2 Corinthians 9:13
Because of the service by which you have proved yourselves,
people will praise God for the obedience
that accompanies your confession of the gospel of Christ,
and for your generosity in sharing with them
and with everyone else.

1 Timothy 6:18
Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds,
and to be generous and willing to share.

Yesterday we talked about being a house of God
Noble Purposes
Who would expect Glass and Papyrus to be here 2000 years later?

Timothy 2
In a large house there are articles not only of gold and silver,
but also of wood and clay; some are for noble purposes
and some for disposal of refuse.
 21 Those who cleanse themselves from the latter will be instruments for noble purposes,
made holy, useful to the Master
and prepared
 to do any good work.

About scripture-for-today.blogspot.com/

We believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He has saved all who call upon His name and rely on Him for His Grace. The Scriptures are living & active and are for understanding the Lord Almighty. Biblical readings are chosen from the Ecumenical Christian Church and the Nicene Council, 325 A.D., approved Apocrypha. People remember not just from reading, but by sight and orally- an image has been added as well as audio readings. God tends to link the passages together with fascinates - this blogger, Anne-Laurel Gardere

A simple blog, scripture-for-today.blogspot

This blog is pretty simple, but for a reason. This blog isn't about agenda or me, it is for the joy and love to found by reading the Scriptures. Ultimately, it is you and the Lord.

The Scriptures are Father God's letter to you. He wanted you to know more, to know He loves you.

About Me

My photo
Email registry at bottom.! “All Scripture is inspired by God” (2 Timothy 3:16). Men “moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God” (2 Peter 1:21). The Holy Spirit carried men along, moving and guiding them as they wrote in their own words what God wanted them to say. The Bible is unique; comprised of 80 separate books, & written over a period of thousands of years by more than 40 writers with one Author, spanning the centuries, different states of peace & war & different situations in life. The Bible answers the question: of who is God, who is man & what can their relationship can be. Although the Bible was written on perishable material and copied by hand for many centuries, its accuracy is not in doubt, proven by Dead Sea Scrolls and papyrus from 2,000 years. The Bible has survived persecution & criticism to be read with great interest in each generation. The Bible gives witness to the greatness of the Creator. A loving Father concerned for all of his creation. With each verse of the bible witnessing to God is love and the multitude & vastness of His attributes. The Bible was written for you. <><
