Mark 10:17-31 ~ With man this is impossible, but not with God; all things are possible with God






Mark 10:17-31


As Jesus started on his way, a man ran up to him and fell on his knees before him. “Good teacher,” he asked, “what must I do to inherit eternal life?”


18 “Why do you call me good?” Jesus answered. “No one is good—except God alone. 19 You know the commandments: ‘You shall not murder, you shall not commit adultery, you shall not steal, you shall not give false testimony, you shall not defraud, honor your father and mother.’"

20 “Teacher,” he declared, “all these I have kept since I was a boy.”

21 Jesus looked at him and loved him. “One thing you lack,” he said. “Go, sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.”

22 At this the man’s face fell. He went away sad, because he had great wealth.

23 Jesus looked around and said to his disciples, “How hard it is for the rich to enter the kingdom of God!”

24 The disciples were amazed at his words. But Jesus said again, “Children, how hard it is to enter the kingdom of God! 25 It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God.”

26 The disciples were even more amazed, and said to each other, “Who then can be saved?”

27 Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but not with God; all things are possible with God.”

28 Then Peter spoke up, “We have left everything to follow you!”

29 “Truly I tell you,” Jesus replied,
 “no one who has left home or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or fields for me and the gospel 
30 will fail to receive a hundred times as much in this present age: homes, brothers, sisters, mothers, children and fields—along with persecutions—and in the age to come eternal life. 31 But many who are first will be last, and the last first.”






Psalm 130

1 Out of the depths I cry to you, Lord;

2 Thessalonians 2

16 May our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, 
who loved us and by his grace

Forgiveness is asked to let love flow. To heal harm and makes an upward path to God.
Forgiveness is sought to allow us to be God's child.
Seeks God's Will for us.
Forgiveness seeks the blessing of others and sustains faith, hope and love.
Forgiveness uplifts your family.


Forgiveness is not for power and control of others.
Forgiveness builds up lives. 




God does not put us in harm's way to forgive very often. God calls us to live in a real peace. When the other person's motivation is harm, abuse, usury and power without a real peace or love and only a show of presence - we have not found relationship or a Godly peace.

1 Corinthians 7

15 God has called us to live in peace.
23 You were bought at a price; do not become slaves of human beings.




Psalm 121:7-8

The Lord will keep you from all harm—
he will watch over your life;
the Lord will watch over your coming and going
both now and forevermore.

 

Hebrews 13:20-21

Now may the God of peace, who through the blood of the eternal covenant brought back from the dead 
our Lord Jesus,
that great Shepherd of the sheep,

21 equip you with everything good for doing his will
and may he work in us what is pleasing to him, 
through Jesus Christ, 
to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.





Rick Warren did a tremendous talk on forgiveness. Huge calls for forgiveness in serious matters like divorce.


We are told how to handle these serious matters in the Scripture. Just as we are told to rejoice in all things and give thanks, we would never be asked to give thanks for murder. For violence done. For acts of sexual impropriety. Rick Warren says the Bible is about seeking what God will do in healing. We are to have humility and see others better than ourselves - this does not include every situation and every person. God says see good whenever possible and see good traits in people to aspire their good ideals and qualities.

There are times when restoration isn't the goal. Victims of pedophilia do not return to the violent. When the goal of peace is really abuse, usury or power, God cannot say peace is more of the same.

God said marriage is violated with sexual impropriety - adultery. Marriage is also violated when peace is destroyed. God calls us again and again to have peace. We learn in 1 Corinthians 7 God has called us to live in peace.

Not the peace of the world. What is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable--if anything is excellent or praiseworthy--think about such things.

God says pray peace for people and do not be troubled, worried. Cast your cares Upon Him, for He cares for you.



God is Good.
For what we cannot solve - God is the One to allow Him to have souls to save. We are not capable to Judge someone in their entirety. We need to be in Him to be fruitful. We stay in what is noble, right, lovely, admirable and away from what is displeasing to God coming from our heart.

When the path is rocky and we wonder - Jesus didn't have a lot to say to Pilate. He wasn't rude. When even the archangel Michael, when he was disputing with the devil about the body of Moses, did not himself dare to condemn him for slander, but said, “The Lord rebuke you!”

God calls us to be centered in the midst of things that are a trial to us. Not to the right or left. Jesus is the center.

We see together about troubles fade away when we trust God. Cares about riches fade away and God is good. All Things are Possible with God.

James 1

12    Blessed     is the man who remains steadfast under trial, 
for when he has    stood    the test 
he will receive the crown of life,
which God has promised to those who love him

How will we know?


To forgive is to be able to take a deep breath - to feel living water pour over us - and to release the worry, anxieties and fear.

Jacob became Israel - God's chosen - he forgave his sons - giving blessings as they had earned not sugar coated - Scripture does not record the sons asking their father for forgiveness.

Jesus, Son of God, forgave Caiaphas and Ananias - He just never returned to proclaim Himself Lord of the Temple. The Pharisees who watched Jesus' every move and word - only one fell down in realization and asked to be forgiven. The Pharisees were not interested in the Love and Works of God - they were interested in power and position - for - themselves.


Abba, Father God, 

We yearn for Your' heart's blessing, Father God,
Dwell within  us - help us to establish our soul 
and a fruitful place for Your dwelling.
You are God.

Nothing is impossible with You. A thousand years in your sight
are like a day that has just gone by. In the morning, Your mercies renew!

If you set our iniquities before you,
our secret sins in the light of your presence, we would not stand.
Help us to have a heart of wisdom.

Help us to have joy seeing Your deeds and allow us the splendor to tell
our children of Your Love.

Pour Your Living Water in our lives - sweeping suffering aside and real healing and real forgiveness to continue in health and holiness. We ask Love and Joy to 
draw us forth into abundant Life. 

Father, be our Guide and Center. 

May Your Favor 
Father Lord God rest upon us. 
And establish our works 
in Your mercy. 
We believe in the Love of Jesus Christ and ask Your mercy, Amen.

John 5:7-26 ~ in Spirit and Truth

 




Blessings come with real life and the negativity of growth and Fruit. 

Blessings, Fear, Compromise, Harsh Circumstance, Pollen, Love, Sin, Pain, healing, Endless beautiful days, boredom, cruelty, healing, kindness. Evil. Harm. Bewilderment. Worn to the nub. Compromise, the hope for holiness and Jesus. Jesus gives Salvation as a gift. Renewal, Joy, Hope, Faith and Love. 

Blessings always have a sting to decide how we will Rise Up or fall. 




Matthew 13:31,32

Jesus put before them another parable: “The Kingdom of Heaven 
is like a mustard seed that a man planted in his field.

 Although it is the smallest of all seeds, 
yet it grows into the largest of garden plants and becomes a tree, 
so that the birds of the air come 
and 
nest in its branches.”







Shechem is the valley between Mount Ebal and Mount Gerizim. 

Shechem and all of Mount Ebal and Mount Gerizim are 4,000 years of archaeological history, but more than that. We can find Moses and the Pentateuch are solid here. Solid fact.

Look at Shechem and remember Jesus said in the Gospels, if they do not praise me, these Rocks will Cry Out.



When we look at the chaos and confusion of the stories today. We find our youth is so sad. We find the suicide rate has gone from 13th to 9th leading cause of death.  We want, we need, we have, we overcome and find our foundation in God.

This small tablet is the Exodus when Moses was living, explaining the Nature of God. God said
"I Am That I Am."

This answers  important questions the critics sneer about Moses writing the Pentateuch. "Where is the papyrus?"  "Would Moses know how to write?" A Prince of Egypt, of course Moses would read and write. This Tablet is Stone. 

And it was found in the outcroppings of the archaeological site.  To be blunt, it was found in what was considered trash and then searched again.  It contains the explanation of Mount Ebal being a curse, and it contains the Exodus Name of God. It might have been something Moses jotted down and was a mistake and tossed out. 

How many slaves of 500 years could write? A few. Maybe, if there was a Joseph to Pharaoh employment.  The one we know was literate was Moses, Prince of Egypt.

Does this make this tablet void to have negativity? 
No, The Tablet proclaims God knows every detail.  God knows every portion of our lives we would put in the trash to be taken out of God's sight.  And God finds redemption for the lost.  The Name of God is what is important. For us. For our children. 


Now, the place where this Tablet is found has amazing reoccurrence in the Scriptures.


Psalm 60

4 You have set up a banner for those who fear you,
that they may flee to it from the bow. Selah
5 That your beloved ones may be delivered,
give salvation by your right hand and answer us!



6 God has spoken in His Holiness:
“With exultation I will divide up Shechem


and portion out the Vale of Succoth.
7 Gilead is mine; Manasseh is mine;
Ephraim is my helmet;
Judah is my scepter.
8 Moab is my washbasin;
upon Edom I cast my shoe;
over Philistia I shout in triumph.”


9 Who will bring me to the fortified city?
Who will lead me to Edom?
10 Have you not rejected us, O God?
You do not go forth, O God, with our armies.
11 Oh, grant us help against the foe,
for vain is the salvation of man!
12 With God we shall do valiantly;
it is he who will tread down our foes.









Shechem - Genesis 12:6 

Abram traveled through the land as far as the site of the great tree of Moreh at Shechem. At that time the Canaanites were in the land. 

7 The LORD appeared to Abram and said, 
"To your offspring I will give this land."

 So he built an altar there to the LORD, who had appeared to him.




Genesis 33:17-19 

But Jacob journeyed to Succoth, and built himself a house and made booths for his livestock. Therefore the name of the place is called Succoth. 

 18 And Jacob came safely to the city of Shechem,

 which is in the land of Canaan, on his way from Paddan-aram, and he camped before the city. 

19 And from the sons of Hamor, Shechem's father, 

he bought for a hundred pieces of money
 the piece of land on which he had pitched his tent.





John 5:7-26


Mount Ebal and Mount Gerizim

7 A woman from Samaria came to draw water. Jesus said to her, “Give me a drink.” 

8 (For his disciples had gone away into the city to buy food.) 9 The Samaritan woman said to him, “How is it that you, a Jew, ask for a drink from me, a woman of Samaria?” (For Jews have no dealings with Samaritans.) 

10 Jesus answered her, “If you knew the gift of God, and who it is that is saying to you, ‘Give me a drink,’ you would have asked him, and he would have given you living water.” 

11 The woman said to him, “Sir, you have nothing to draw water with, and the well is deep. Where do you get that living water? 12 Are you greater than our father Jacob? He gave us the well and drank from it himself, as did his sons and his livestock.” 

13 Jesus said to her, “Everyone who drinks of this water will be thirsty again, 14 but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty again.

 The water that I will give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.

16 Jesus said to her, “Go, call your husband, and come here.” 17 The woman answered him, “I have no husband.” Jesus said to her, “You are right in saying, ‘I have no husband’; 18 for you have had five husbands, and the one you now have is not your husband. What you have said is true.” 19 The woman said to him, “Sir, I perceive that you are a prophet. 

20 Our fathers worshiped on this mountain, but you say that in Jerusalem is the place where people ought to worship.” 

21 Jesus said to her, “Woman, believe me, the hour is coming when neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem will you worship the Father. 22 You worship what you do not know; we worship what we know, for salvation is from the Jews. 23 But the hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship him. 24 God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.” 

25 The woman said to him, “I know that Messiah is coming (he who is called Christ). When he comes, he will tell us all things.” 

26 Jesus said to her, “I who speak to you am he.”

Joshua 24


Joshua gathered all the tribes of Israel to Shechem
 and summoned the elders, the heads, the judges, and the officers of Israel. And they presented themselves before God. 2 And Joshua said to all the people, “Thus says the Lord, the God of Israel, ‘Long ago, your fathers lived beyond the Euphrates, Terah, the father of Abraham and of Nahor; and they served other gods. 3 Then I took your father Abraham from beyond the River and led him through all the land of Canaan, and made his offspring many. I gave him Isaac. 4 And to Isaac I gave Jacob and Esau. And I gave Esau the hill country of Seir to possess, but Jacob and his children went down to Egypt. 5 And I sent Moses and Aaron, and I plagued Egypt with what I did in the midst of it, and afterward I brought you out.

6 “‘Then I brought your fathers out of Egypt, and you came to the sea. And the Egyptians pursued your fathers with chariots and horsemen to the Red Sea. 7 And when they cried to the Lord, he put darkness between you and the Egyptians and made the sea come upon them and cover them; and your eyes saw what I did in Egypt. And you lived in the wilderness a long time. 8 Then I brought you to the land of the Amorites, who lived on the other side of the Jordan. They fought with you, and I gave them into your hand, and you took possession of their land, and I destroyed them before you. 9 Then Balak the son of Zippor, king of Moab, arose and fought against Israel. And he sent and invited Balaam the son of Beor to curse you, 10 but I would not listen to Balaam. Indeed, he blessed you. So I delivered you out of his hand. 11 And you went over the Jordan and came to Jericho, and the leaders of Jericho fought against you, and also the Amorites, the Perizzites, the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Girgashites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites. And I gave them into your hand. 12 And I sent the hornet before you, which drove them out before you, the two kings of the Amorites; it was not by your sword or by your bow. 13 I gave you a land on which you had not labored and cities that you had not built, and you dwell in them. You eat the fruit of vineyards and olive orchards that you did not plant.’

14 “Now therefore fear the Lord and serve him in sincerity and in faithfulness. Put away the gods that your fathers served beyond the River and in Egypt, and serve the Lord. 15 And if it is evil in your eyes to serve the Lord, choose this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your fathers served in the region beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you dwell.

But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”

16 Then the people answered, “Far be it from us that we should forsake the Lord to serve other gods, 17 for it is the Lord our God who brought us and our fathers up from the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery, and who did those great signs in our sight and preserved us in all the way that we went, and among all the peoples through whom we passed. 18 And the Lord drove out before us all the peoples, the Amorites who lived in the land. 

Therefore we also will serve the Lord, for he is our God.”

19 But Joshua said to the people, “You are not able to serve the Lord, for he is a holy God. He is a jealous God; he will not forgive your transgressions or your sins. 20 If you forsake the Lord and serve foreign gods, then he will turn and do you harm and consume you, after having done you good.” 

21 And the people said to Joshua, “No, but we will serve the Lord.” 

22 Then Joshua said to the people, “You are witnesses against yourselves that you have chosen the Lord, to serve him.” 

And they said, “We are witnesses.” 

23 He said, “Then put away the foreign gods that are among you, and incline your heart to the Lord, the God of Israel.”

24 And the people said to Joshua, “The Lord our God we will serve, and his voice we will obey.” 25 So Joshua made a covenant with the people that day, and put in place statutes and rules for them at Shechem. 26 And Joshua wrote these words in the Book of the Law of God. And he took a large stone and set it up there under the terebinth that was by the sanctuary of the Lord. 

27 And Joshua said to all the people, “Behold, this stone shall be a witness against us, for it has heard all the words of the Lord that he spoke to us. Therefore it shall be a witness against you, lest you deal falsely with your God.” 




28 So Joshua sent the people away, every man to his inheritance.

29 After these things Joshua the son of Nun, the servant of the Lord, died, being 110 years old. 30 And they buried him in his own inheritance at Timnath-serah, which is in the hill country of Ephraim, north of the mountain of Gaash.

31 Israel served the Lord all the days of Joshua, and all the days of the elders who outlived Joshua and had known all the work that the Lord did for Israel.

32 As for the bones of Joseph, which the people of Israel brought up from Egypt, they buried them at Shechem, in the piece of land that Jacob bought from the sons of Hamor the father of Shechem for a hundred pieces of money. It became an inheritance of the descendants of Joseph.

33 And Eleazar the son of Aaron died, and they buried him at Gibeah, the town of Phinehas his son, which had been given him in the hill country of Ephraim.







1 Kings 12 ~ And they said to him, “If you will be a servant to this people today and serve them, and speak good words to them when you answer them, then they will be your servants forever.”


1 Kings 12 - 

Rehoboam went to Shechem, 
for all Israel had come to Shechem to make him king. 

2 And as soon as Jeroboam the son of Nebat heard of it (for he was still in Egypt, where he had fled from King Solomon), then Jeroboam returned from Egypt. 3 And they sent and called him, and Jeroboam and all the assembly of Israel came and said to Rehoboam, 4 “Your father made our yoke heavy. Now therefore lighten the hard service of your father and his heavy yoke on us, and we will serve you.” 5 He said to them, “Go away for three days, then come again to me.” So the people went away.

6 Then King Rehoboam took counsel with the old men, who had stood before Solomon his father while he was yet alive, saying, “How do you advise me to answer this people?” 7 And they said to him, “If you will be a servant to this people today and serve them, and speak good words to them when you answer them, then they will be your servants forever.”

But he abandoned the counsel that the old men gave him and took counsel with the young men who had grown up with him and stood before him. 9 And he said to them, “What do you advise that we answer this people who have said to me, ‘Lighten the yoke that your father put on us’?” 10 And the young men who had grown up with him said to him, “Thus shall you speak to this people who said to you, ‘Your father made our yoke heavy, but you lighten it for us,’ thus shall you say to them, ‘My little finger is thicker than my father's thighs. 11 And now, whereas my father laid on you a heavy yoke, I will add to your yoke. My father disciplined you with whips, but I will discipline you with scorpions.’”

12 So Jeroboam and all the people came to Rehoboam the third day, as the king said, “Come to me again the third day.” 13 And the king answered the people harshly, and forsaking the counsel that the old men had given him, 14 he spoke to them according to the counsel of the young men, saying, “My father made your yoke heavy, but I will add to your yoke. My father disciplined you with whips, but I will discipline you with scorpions.” 15 So the king did not listen to the people, for it was a turn of affairs brought about by the Lord that he might fulfill his word, which the Lord spoke by Ahijah the Shilonite to Jeroboam the son of Nebat.


The Kingdom Divided


16 And when all Israel saw that the king did not listen to them, the people answered the king, “What portion do we have in David? We have no inheritance in the son of Jesse. To your tents, O Israel! Look now to your own house, David.” So Israel went to their tents. 17 But Rehoboam reigned over the people of Israel who lived in the cities of Judah. 18 Then King Rehoboam sent Adoram, who was taskmaster over the forced labor, and all Israel stoned him to death with stones. And King Rehoboam hurried to mount his chariot to flee to Jerusalem. 19 So Israel has been in rebellion against the house of David to this day. 20 And when all Israel heard that Jeroboam had returned, they sent and called him to the assembly and made him king over all Israel. There was none that followed the house of David but the tribe of Judah only.

21 When Rehoboam came to Jerusalem, he assembled all the house of Judah and the tribe of Benjamin, 180,000 chosen warriors, to fight against the house of Israel, to restore the kingdom to Rehoboam the son of Solomon. 22 But the word of God came to Shemaiah the man of God: 23 “Say to Rehoboam the son of Solomon, king of Judah, and to all the house of Judah and Benjamin, and to the rest of the people, 24 ‘Thus says the Lord, You shall not go up or fight against your relatives the people of Israel. Every man return to his home, for this thing is from me.’” So they listened to the word of the Lord and went home again, according to the word of the Lord.


25 Then Jeroboam built Shechem
 in the hill country of Ephraim and lived there. And he went out from there and built Penuel. 



26 And Jeroboam said in his heart, “Now the kingdom will turn back to the house of David. 

27 If this people go up to offer sacrifices in the temple of the Lord at Jerusalem, then the heart of this people will turn again to their lord, to Rehoboam king of Judah, and they will kill me and return to Rehoboam king of Judah.” 28 So the king took counsel and made two calves of gold. And he said to the people, “You have gone up to Jerusalem long enough. Behold your gods, O Israel, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt.” 29 And he set one in Bethel, and the other he put in Dan. 30 Then this thing became a sin, for the people went as far as Dan to be before one. 31 He also made temples on high places and appointed priests from among all the people, who were not of the Levites. 32 And Jeroboam appointed a feast on the fifteenth day of the eighth month like the feast that was in Judah, and he offered sacrifices on the altar. So he did in Bethel, sacrificing to the calves that he made. And he placed in Bethel the priests of the high places that he had made. 33 He went up to the altar that he had made in Bethel on the fifteenth day in the eighth month, in the month that he had devised from his own heart. And he instituted a feast for the people of Israel and went up to the altar to make offerings.



Altar at Shechem, this altar remains after 2,000 years. The foundation holds.

The Bible has survived persecution & criticism to be read with great interest in each generation. The Bible gives witness to the greatness of the Creator. A loving Father concerned for all of his creation. With each verse of the bible witnessing to God is love and the multitude & vastness of His attributes. The Bible was written for you. <><
