Luke 8:16-25 ~ He answered

Luke 8:16-25

 “No one after lighting a lamp covers it with a jar or puts it under a bed, but puts it on a stand, so that those who enter may see the light. 17 For nothing is hidden that will not be made manifest, nor is anything secret that will not be known and come to light. 18 Take care then how you hear, for to the one who has, more will be given, and from the one who has not, even what he thinks that he has will be taken away.”

19 Then his mother and his brothers came to him, but they could not reach him because of the crowd. 20 And he was told, “Your mother and your brothers are standing outside, desiring to see you.” 21 But he answered them, “My mother and my brothers are those who hear the word of God and do it.”

22 One day he got into a boat with his disciples, and he said to them, “Let us go across to the other side of the lake.”

So they set out, 23 and as they sailed he fell asleep. And a windstorm came down on the lake, and they were filling with water and were in danger. 24 And they went and woke him, saying, “Master, Master, we are perishing!”

 And he awoke and rebuked the wind and the raging waves, and they ceased, and there was a calm. 25 He said to them, “Where is your faith?”

And they were afraid, and they marveled, saying to one another, “Who then is this, that he commands even winds and water, and they obey him?”

What was it like to be a Disciple of Jesus and see Him walk, live as Grace upon Grace? John offers the most long-lasting insight in John 21:

John 21
24 This is the disciple who is bearing witness about these things, and who has written these things, and we know that his testimony is true.
 25 Now there are also many other things that Jesus did.
 Were every one of them to be written,
I suppose that the world itself could not contain the books
that would be written.

The crowds of Rome would seek Peter, 30 years later, and to the surprise of Mark and Peter, the people had specific questions of Jesus to ask and have answered. The Gospel of Mark was the hit parade of the first century world.

Answering this portion of the gospel - about the people seeking and asking about Jesus during His Life on earth: “No one after lighting a lamp covers it with a jar or puts it under a bed, but puts it on a stand, so that those who enter may see the light. 17 For nothing is hidden that will not be made manifest, nor is anything secret that will not be known and come to light. 18 Take care then how you hear, for to the one who has, more will be given, and from the one who has not, even what he thinks that he has will be taken away.”

Did Jesus get the nod from everyone: No, Mary and His Brothers worried He was perishing by standing up. Jesus answered, we should all be awake and doing God's Will while it is Day. Jesus said, "Days will come." And Jesus would not be walking out on His ministry, and He waited for them to catch up.

Probably, Jesus wanted to ask them, "Where is your faith?" But must have thought His well-chosen Word would be wasted. Fellows on a ship. The time to learn to communicate. Fellowship. To think Life is ending and find Jesus is salvation.

In the 8th Chapter of Luke, The Disciples are still in awe of Jesus.

Matthew 18:10
See that you do not despise one of these little ones.
For I tell you that their angels in Heaven
always see the Face of My Father in Heaven

 Abba, Father,

Thank You, Father God, for Your Wonders of each Day of Your Life.
You make all things new in Jesus Christ.
 Jesus tells us You are working and Jesus with You.

We pray for Florida.
We pray for Families.
We pray for their recovery.
And we ask for fewer weather incidents.

More of Your Holy Spirit, having You dwell in us
God of Love.
God of Encouragement.

For our history, our generations
have pleased You
Loving and Caring for our Children.
Look with us, and Bless us, Father.

Smile upon us, remembering
our heart to please our families
and You.

Forgive us when we err
in weakness, need and fear.
Strengthen us in Your Love.

Thanks be to Jesus, for His Grace upon Grace.

I will wait upon God all the days of my life and dwell in the House of Lord for His Word to me. Alleluia. Christmas is coming again.
This is as sure as the Promises of God for us in eternity who call upon Jesus.
 Speak the Word, God, and I shall be well.

Psalm 139:1-18,23-24

O Lord, you have searched me and known me!
2 You know when I sit down and when I rise up;
    you discern my thoughts from afar.
3 You search out my path and my lying down
    and are acquainted with all my ways.
4 Even before a word is on my tongue,
    behold, O Lord, you know it altogether.
5 You hem me in, behind and before,
    and lay your hand upon me.
6 Such knowledge is too wonderful for me;
    it is high; I cannot attain it.

7 Where shall I go from your Spirit?
    Or where shall I flee from your presence?
8 If I ascend to heaven, you are there!
    If I make my bed in Sheol, you are there!
9 If I take the wings of the morning
    and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea,
10 even there your hand shall lead me,
    and your right hand shall hold me.
11 If I say, “Surely the darkness shall cover me,
    and the light about me be night,”
12 even the darkness is not dark to you;
    the night is bright as the day,
    for darkness is as light with you.

13 For you formed my inward parts;
    you knitted me together in my mother's womb.
14 I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.
Wonderful are your works;
    my soul knows it very well.
15 My frame was not hidden from you,
when I was being made in secret,
    intricately woven in the depths of the earth.
16 Your eyes saw my unformed substance;
in your book were written, every one of them,
    the days that were formed for me,
    when as yet there was none of them.

17 How precious to me are your thoughts, O God!
    How vast is the sum of them!
18 If I would count them, they are more than the sand.
    I awake, and I am still with you.

23 Search me, O God, and know my heart!
    Try me and know my thoughts!
24 And see if there be any grievous way in me,
    and lead me in the way everlasting!

Abba, Father,
Your wrath is covered when we believe in Jesus.

Matthew 13:31,32

Jesus put before them another parable: “The Kingdom of Heaven
is like a mustard seed that a man planted in his field.

 Although it is the smallest of all seeds,
yet it grows into the largest of garden plants and becomes a tree,
so that the birds of the air come
and
nest in its branches.”

Luke 8:1-15 ~ and bear fruit with patience

Luke 8:1-15

Soon afterward He went on through cities and villages, proclaiming and bringing the good news of the kingdom of God. And the twelve were with Him, 2 and also some women who had been healed of evil spirits and infirmities: Mary, called Magdalene, from whom seven demons had gone out, 3 and Joanna, the wife of Chuza, Herod's household manager, and Susanna, and many others, who provided for them out of their means.

4 And when a great crowd was gathering and people from town after town came to him, He said in a parable, 5 “A sower went out to sow his seed. And as he sowed, some fell along the path and was trampled underfoot, and the birds of the air devoured it.

6 And some fell on the rock, and as it grew up, it withered away, because it had no moisture.

7 And some fell among thorns, and the thorns grew up with it and choked it.

8 And some fell into good soil and grew and yielded a hundredfold.”

Like Gideon, God sees the heart and knows tomorrow

As He said these things, he called out, “He who has ears to hear, let him hear.”

9 And when his disciples asked Him what this parable meant, 10 he said, “To you it has been given to know the secrets of the kingdom of God, but for others they are in parables, so that ‘seeing they may not see, and hearing they may not understand.’

11 Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God.

12 The ones along the path are those who have heard; then the devil comes and takes away the word from their hearts, so that they may not believe and be saved. 13 And the ones on the rock are those who, when they hear the word, receive it with joy. But these have no root; they believe for a while, and in time of testing fall away. 14 And as for what fell among the thorns, they are those who hear, but as they go on their way they are choked by the cares and riches and pleasures of life, and their fruit does not mature.

15 As for that in the good soil, they are those who, hearing the word, hold it fast in an honest and good heart, and bear fruit with patience.

And bear fruit with Patience

Abraham traveled exactly where God asked him to go. And he lived under a tree and grew old with Sarah. Who didn't lose her sense of humor.

Jacob fought for the blessings and was giving them away to sons he really didn't know and, yet, he did understand them with great insight.

Moses certainly had patience, he was 80 when he was concerned the mountain had fire upon it. Moses first glance was to be concerned for the flock he tended.

Joshua knew the direction and guidance of God and couldn't get the Children of Israel to listen. And waited in the desert for 40 years.

Naamen felt Elijah had not been caring and helpful for all of Naaman's efforts. And threw a temper tantrum until he was healed, suddenly.

Samuel could hear the Lord, then had to leave his own plans to please God.

Hannah knew life was ruined.

Isaiah waited through three kings to be heard.

Mary, the Mother of God didn't understand Jesus. Pondered. And then, asked Jesus to come home and quit making a fuss of Himself.

Simon the Zealot felt the Roman occupation had been long enough.

John the Beloved Disciple lived into the 2nd Century and waited about 60 years to see Jesus in The Book of Revelation. John felt this was worth the wait.

Abba, Father,

And out of the ground the Lord God made to spring up every tree that is pleasant to the sight and good for food. The tree of life was in the midst of the garden. The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed that a man planted in his field. Although it is the smallest of all seeds, yet it grows into the largest of garden plants and becomes a tree,
so that the birds of the air come and nest in its branches.

He placed the cherubim, to guard the way to the tree of life,
the four angels who are bound at the great river Euphrates.
On that day, the Lord made a covenant with Abram and said,
"To your descendants I give this land, from the Wadi of Egypt to the great river, the Euphrates."

He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To the one who conquers I will grant to eat of the tree of life, which is in the Paradise of God

Through the middle of the street of the city; also, on either side of the river, the tree of life with its twelve kinds of fruit, yielding its fruit each month.

The leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.

Blessed are those who wash their robes, so that they may have the right to the tree of life and that they may enter the city by the gates.

Psalm 46 ~ God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

Matthew 23:37

How often would I have gathered your children together
 as a hen gathers her brood under her wings
and you were not willing!

Tonight we traveled to St. John the Divine Episcopal, Houston, Texas to hear Father Mike Endicott of Monmouth, Wales, U.K.

I last met Father Mike in 2013, to pray for my son, who was having a young man difficult time in Dallas. Father Mike and his wife prayed for me and assured me because the Lord had heard my copious weeping for another person, my arm would be fine. I wondered if Father Mike was hard of hearing. I said thank you and went on to pray for my son with them. As the prayer ended, Mike said I would worry, but the Lord assured Mike my arm would be fine. I said thank you, but my arms are entirely well. And they were. In 2016, I showed my funny bump to the doctor I knew and liked so well at Pro Life, where we volunteered. He told me the shape of the bump led him to think it was cancer. And I went to a surgeon I researched and he said the same thing. We scheduled the surgery, and found it was a benign Lipoma in a strange shape. The next 2017 another surgery. Sometimes Lipomas leave something like seed benign cysts. Benign, Benign, Benign, Thank Jesus.

I had wept copiously for a Louisiana cousin, who had lost an arm. Later, I found out the report was incorrect but I'd cried heartily for my cousin. Perhaps this was the prayer God had heard me cry. Or for my son.  My first Church had been too busy to pray for my arm in 2016. My 2nd Church in 2017 had the Care Pastor come to me with a friend and they prayed with great compassion. Thank Jesus.

This evening, Father Mike prayed such a beautiful prayer. I want to repeat the prayer with you. We also prayed for the winds blowing in all directions around the world in Strife of worldwide Pandemic brains.  The UK has 4% Church attendance. Some of Europe is the same.  Poland, so beautiful to Ukraine, has 80% Catholic Church attendance.  Poland was heavily involved in sabotaging Nazis in World War II. Extreme heroics. UK worked at amazing levels to make sure the darkness did not surround the earth. The Churches read the Liturgy, yet wanted to pretend calm and ignore the strife of great fear.  After World War II ended, the people let the fear reside and the upset over being unfed in a critical time begin to erode Church attendance.  We pray for the worldwide Church to be a beacon of Truth and Comfort in Jesus Christ.

Friends don't let friends crash in difficult times.  Pray for the worldwide Church of Jesus Christ to be effective in a time of great stress.

Abba, Father,

Come, behold the works of the Lord

God is our refuge and strength,
    a very present help in trouble.

There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God,
    the holy habitation of the Most High.
God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved;
    God will help her when morning dawns.
The nations rage, the kingdoms totter;
    he utters his voice, the earth melts.
The Lord of hosts is with us;
    the God of Jacob is our fortress.

 Jesus has prayed, Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink.
Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said,
rivers of living water will flow from within them

Jesus our Spring of water welling up to eternal life

For I will pour water on the thirsty land, and streams on the dry ground;
I will pour my Spirit upon your offspring, and my blessing on your descendants.

When the poor and needy seek water, and there is none,
and their tongue is parched with thirst,
I the Lord will answer them; I the God of Israel will not forsake them.
I will open rivers on the bare heights, and fountains in the midst of the valleys.
I will make the wilderness a pool of water, and the dry land springs of water.

With joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation.

“Come.” And let the one who hears say, “Come.”
And let the one who is thirsty come;
let the one who desires take the water of life without price.

We need not suffer the sorrows and unending grief.
The making do, drag us to feel down.
Live Heaven today in our Love and faith. Well with hope.

The Lord will guide you continually and satisfy your desire
in scorched places and make your bones strong;
and you shall be like a watered garden,
like a spring of water, whose waters do not fail.

Come, everyone who thirsts, come to the waters;
and he who has no money, come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk
without money and without price.

Jesus tells us, His Promise within us. His Holy Spirit living within us.

Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, bright as crystal,
 flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb.

For the Lamb in the midst of the throne will be their shepherd, and he will guide them to springs of living water, and God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.
You, Father, sanctify us, Beloved,
having cleansed us by the washing of water with Your Word.
And I heard a voice from heaven like the roar of many waters
and like the sound of loud thunder.
Then I heard what seemed to be the voice of a great multitude, like the roar of many waters and like the sound of mighty peals of thunder, crying out,
“Hallelujah!
 For the Lord our God the Almighty reigns.

He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters.
We will be still and know the Lord.
We will pray and rest in Him expecting
to Behold the Works of The Lord.

Alleluia Jesus is Lord. Amen.

About Me

My photo
Email registry at bottom.! “All Scripture is inspired by God” (2 Timothy 3:16). Men “moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God” (2 Peter 1:21). The Holy Spirit carried men along, moving and guiding them as they wrote in their own words what God wanted them to say. The Bible is unique; comprised of 80 separate books, & written over a period of thousands of years by more than 40 writers with one Author, spanning the centuries, different states of peace & war & different situations in life. The Bible answers the question: of who is God, who is man & what can their relationship can be. Although the Bible was written on perishable material and copied by hand for many centuries, its accuracy is not in doubt, proven by Dead Sea Scrolls and papyrus from 2,000 years. The Bible has survived persecution & criticism to be read with great interest in each generation. The Bible gives witness to the greatness of the Creator. A loving Father concerned for all of his creation. With each verse of the bible witnessing to God is love and the multitude & vastness of His attributes. The Bible was written for you. <><
