1 John 5 ~ Everyone

And in 90 A.D., this was the de facto Vatican of the Christian World.

1 John 5

Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ has been born of God, and everyone who loves the Father loves whoever has been born of him. 

By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and obey his commandments. 3 For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments. 

And his commandments are not burdensome. 4 For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith. 5 Who is it that overcomes the world except the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?

6 This is he who came by water and blood—Jesus Christ; not by the water only but by the water and the blood. And the Spirit is the one who testifies, because the Spirit is the truth. 

7 For there are three that testify: 
 the Spirit

 and the water

 and the blood; and these three agree. 

9 If we receive the testimony of men, the testimony of God is greater, for this is the testimony of God that he has borne concerning his Son. 10 Whoever believes in the Son of God has the testimony in himself. Whoever does not believe God has made him a liar, because he has not believed in the testimony that God has borne concerning his Son. 

And this is the testimony, that God gave us eternal life, 

and this life is in his Son. 

Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life.

13 I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life. 

14 And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us. 15 And if we know that he hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests that we have asked of him.

John's front yard, the cave entrance would be more visibly seen than these caves.

God had placed John on top of the world and a little like Mount Tabor to the Sea of Galilee.

The Transfiguration.

John woke up on Patmos and cheerfully began to do what God asked him to do. 

To write us two thousand years later. John was cheerfully following what God wanted from John. We think of Ten Commandments, and really what God is asking we do is the Life God has placed within us. Where we know we dwell.

John's appointed Life was to bring everyone. Everyone. And as John considered this where did he start?

Ephesus. 

The born Jew, John, was including the 7 Sages of Greek Wisdom. John wanted to take what his age considered to be the thoughts of mankind and bring understanding of Jesus. John begins His Gospel explaining seeing the Transfiguration. When John's brother James, John and Peter witnessed Jesus speak with Moses, Elijah and Father God. This had astonished John. Changed his entire life. John certainly was Not leaving Jesus on Good Friday. Or ever.

Ephesus was a Port.

When people gathered, they spoke in conversation of the aspects of life they knew, had considered and would speak of today. The bones of conversation.

Ports 

1. Would be moving forward. They wouldn't speak of self-pity. Weakness was for being attacked. 

2. Conversational challenges would be welcomed. Even in 600 B.C. people hoped to learn from the bare bones of conversation to broaden their inner conversations — ship travel has the time of inner awareness.

3. Not complaining much about things beyond their control. Robbers are like Hyenas looking for the very weakest. Being upbeat was important. Rabble-rousing puts one in prison or stockades. 

4. Kind, fair enough, yet unafraid to speak up. Conversation should be lively.

5. Unworried about celebrating success in the popular traveled paths of culture. Not resenting established ideas. 

Why?  A Life Worth Leading.

The inner awareness of internal questions. The consciousness of mankind. The growing soul. Man's eternal meaningful life. A life worth leading.

We could spend time discussing the elements, the history of the Sages, but the reason mankind was interested in the elements were ~ the discussions:

1. What is everything made of, are we like the stars, the Heavens, what is Life? 

What will life be if we are present or have passed on?

2. Are we like water? 

Poured out. Nurturing. When we are weakened? How to regain the loss of what appears to run off.

3. Is air strong? Meaning Wind.

 What is the wind, where will we be moved, shaken and taken? Gravity, would we be pulled down.

4. What builds Life? 

What are the Basic Components? What separates us? How are we connected? What is the relationship? What will we glean?

5. Where have we come from? 

What is our strength, can we overcome weakness?

6. What is fire? 

What is eros? What is stable? What is enduring?

7. How do all of these questions transform us? 

What is the Unity? The Blessing of Community, the Ages, the Ancients and the Future near and far?

John answers from walking with Jesus and finding the exact nature of God, “Heals Them All.”

Wisely, John, does not attempt to answer the questions of all people. Blessed are the eyes that see and ears that hear. Jesus says some seeds are trampled and unwilling to hear or listen. John is seeking the fruitful of God in this passage. The Soul open to being loving.

John witnesses to those willing to be Loving. John is older. He has lived what prophets longed to see. He has voyaged and lived in Ports and now God has placed him to observe and be outside from daily ranges. John is in the wilderness as Mark knew this to be.

Consider the paths of John to life in the village of Patmos:

Narrow and straight Path. 

We say Christmas is the Happiest Season. We tell Father God He can trust us to care for the Christ Infant. And we prepare to Celebrate Light and Love. To give to those we Love. And in this focus, we find we've been given the Work of God and find ourselves cheerful. Christmas is what we make if it. We can turn this into scrambling for some odds or ends to place in a gift sack, or we can tenderly give life assistance and be pleased to see Love thrive and prosper in the Path God Gives for those we Love.

The teenager sees the tree needs to be decorated and the laundry done. The teenager knows his mother is working and will be tired and filled with stress. He decorates the small tree and puts a bow on the Laundry he folds. His mother is utterly astonished and delighted. “Christmas is What You Make of It.” We can be assured John has done this for Mary, His Mother. Delight.

All for Love. All for Love. All for Love.

Living water. A tremendous force. This has been the year of the Hurricanes and Fire. Water will go exactly where it will. Seeping and Soaking. Recovery will unfold as time sees what will be. Fire is a clean slate and requires a total change. The type of forces we know in aging and in changes of life, we all live.

In this season, John sees several Blessings. One is to see others living in God's Love. Seek Goodness, find goodness of God within others. To expect God is moving, working, warming those we are given. To see optimistically the good within.  Light of Jesus Christ in mankind, spreading to the entire world.

This is the Confidence

 we do the work of mankind to do:

To Believe in Jesus, One of God Trinity, The Highest Name of Jesus.

Isaiah 40

  Comfort, comfort my people, says your God.

Speak tenderly to Jerusalem,

    and cry to her

that her warfare is ended,

    that her iniquity is pardoned,

that she has received from the Lord's hand

    double for all her sins.

3 A voice cries:

“In the wilderness prepare the way of the Lord;

    make straight in the desert a highway for our God.

4 Every valley shall be lifted up,

    and every mountain and hill be made low;

the uneven ground shall become level,

    and the rough places a plain.

The Greatness of God

    and a goldsmith overlays it with gold

20 He who is too impoverished for an offering

    chooses wood that will not rot;

he seeks out a skillful craftsman

    to set up an idol that will not move.

    Has it not been told you from the beginning?

    Have you not understood from the foundations of the earth?

It is He who sits above

Circle of the earth

    And its inhabitants are like grasshoppers;

who stretches out the heavens like a curtain,

    and spreads them like a tent to dwell in;

23 who brings princes to nothing,

    and makes the rulers of the earth as emptiness.

24 Scarcely are they planted, scarcely sown,

    scarcely has their stem taken root in the earth,

when he blows on them, and they wither,

    and the tempest carries them off like stubble.

25 To whom then will you compare me,

    that I should be like him? says the Holy One.

26 Lift up your eyes on high and see:

    who created these?

He who brings out their Host by number,

    calling them all by name

By the greatness of His Might

    and 

Because He is strong in power

    not one is missing

Why do you say, O Jacob,

    and speak, O Israel,

“My way is hidden from the Lord,

    and my right is disregarded by my God”?

28 Have you not known? Have you not heard?

The Lord is the everlasting God,

    The Creator of the ends of the earth.

He does not faint or grow weary;

    His understanding is unsearchable.

He gives power to the faint,

    and to him who has no might He increases strength.

Even youths shall faint and be weary,

    and young men shall fall exhausted;

They who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength;

    they shall mount up with wings like eagles;

they shall run and not be weary;

    they shall walk and not faint.

Abba, Father God

You open Your Arms willingly and

with great care

and cost

to provide us Life.

Love.

Let us reason together within 

Your Everlasting Word.

Our sins though scarlet,

shall be washed white.

God's Love for you.

Within a great cloud of Your witnesses

we find Peace

God of Love

God of Encouragement.

Love.

Within Your Encouragement

we will Live lives of Meaning.

Meaningful Lives.

Life Worth Living

and find the Joy of the Lord is our Strength.

Though the mountains fall and the hills turn to dust,

Yet our God's Love will Stand

As a Shelter

for All 

who will call upon His Name.

We will find and sing the Praise

and the Glory of God.

Love.

Could the Lord ever leave you?

Could the Lord forget His Love?

He will not abandon you.

His Steadfast Love goes on forever.

Peace is flowing like a river.

Flowing out to you and me.

Setting all the captives free!

Abba, Dwell in us

Help us to be Pleasing to You.

Dwell in those we Love.

Help us to Seek You First.

Love, 

Peace and Joy, Faith.

In seeking You first.

We will look for Heaven on earth

and  bring more Heaven to earth.

 We ask with Great Expectation for the hardship

to bring forth

Psalm 30:1-10 ~ Most Holy to the Lord

Father God took great delight to return the Temple Tools after the Babylon Exile 70 Years. And then the Arch of Titus records the loss of the Temple Tools to the Roman Empire.

God had put His Delight in His Son.

Isaiah 9:6

For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given; 

and the government shall be upon His shoulders. 

And His name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, 

The Mighty God, 

The Everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

The Table to the right could be the Altar of Incense stripped of gold and molding.  The objects inside the table are horns used in the Temple.

Exodus 30:1-10

“You shall make an altar on which to burn incense; you shall make it of acacia wood. 2 A cubit shall be its length, and a cubit its breadth. It shall be square, and two cubits shall be its height. Its horns shall be of one piece with it. 3 You shall overlay it with pure gold, its top and around its sides and its horns. And you shall make a molding of gold around it. 4 And you shall make two golden rings for it. Under its molding on two opposite sides of it you shall make them, and they shall be holders for poles with which to carry it. 

5 You shall make the poles of acacia wood and overlay them with gold. 6 And you shall put it in front of the veil that is above the ark of the testimony, in front of the mercy seat that is above the testimony, where I will meet with you. 

7 And Aaron shall burn fragrant incense on it. Every morning when he dresses the lamps he shall burn it, 8 and when Aaron sets up the lamps at twilight, he shall burn it, a regular incense offering before the Lord throughout your generations. 9 You shall not offer unauthorized incense on it, or a burnt offering, or a grain offering, and you shall not pour a drink offering on it. 10 Aaron shall make atonement on its horns once a year. With the blood of the sin offering of atonement he shall make atonement for it once in the year throughout your generations. It is most holy to the Lord.”

What would you imagine a Prayer Bowl would look like in Heaven? John visited Jesus in Heaven about 60 years after they'd last seen each other on a Sunday Afternoon. Described in Revelations 1.

I'd imagine a Prayer Bowl in Heaven would look similar to something like this:

8 Now while he was serving as priest before God when his division was on duty, 9 according to the custom of the priesthood, he was chosen by lot to enter the temple of the Lord and burn incense. 

10 And the whole multitude of the people were praying outside at the hour of incense.

Our prayers go Far. And stay very close. 

When the Spirit of God, the Holy Spirit of Jesus dwells within us.

Psalm 131 

A Song of Ascents. Of David.

O Lord, my heart is not lifted up;

    my eyes are not raised too high;

I do not occupy myself with things

    too great and too marvelous for me.

2 But I have calmed and quieted my soul,

    like a weaned child with its mother;

    like a weaned child is my soul within me.

3 O Israel, hope in the Lord

    from this time forth and forevermore.

Psalm 128 ~ May the Lord bless you from Zion

Romans believed all roads lead to Rome. Roman occupation would have changed so much of Judea. It's probable,  even the roads inside Jerusalem changed. 

12 miles outside of Bethlehem is Beit Shemesh and the local high school students helped with an Archaeological Dig. Discovering an intact Roman road. This was called the Emperor's Highway leading to Jerusalem.

1 Blessed are all who fear the Lord,

    who walk in obedience to him.

your children will be like olive shoots

    around your table.

4 Yes, this will be the blessing

    for the man who fears the Lord.

This year seems a bit rockier.

Fortunately, we need not build an outbreak upon a pandemic outbreak

Is more... Eternal. This is the first year we bought table decorations, new placemats for Christmas for our breakfast table! The first set were very red, so we layered these with white nubby woven placemats. The breakfast table always has some decoration on it. We did set the Dining Room, more for tradition. But we acknowledged and decorated the smaller table. Not smaller in our heart, just an awareness this year is different.

Encouraging Truth.

I had a phone call with a longtime family friend (I wasn't complaining at the time) and she said realize all the real difficulties. And this was so helpful and strengthening. All week long. To realize we aren't just being whiny.  To be strong. To see the stock market climb is encouraging. So encouraging. The business analysis, calculations by analytical gatherer's of our future. The last four years. The growth expected.
