John 17
When Jesus had spoken these words, He lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, “Father, the hour has come; glorify your Son that the Son may glorify you, 2 since you have given him authority over all flesh, to give eternal life to all whom you have given him.
3 And this is eternal life,
that they know you the only true God,
and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.
4 I glorified you on earth, having accomplished the work that you gave me to do. 5
And now, Father, glorify me in your own presence with the glory that I had with you before the world existed.
6 “I have manifested your name to the people whom you gave me out of the world. Yours they were, and you gave them to me, and they have kept your word. 7 Now they know that everything that you have given me is from you. 8 For I have given them the words that you gave me, and they have received them and have come to know in truth that I came from you; and they have believed that you sent me.
9 I am praying for them. I am not praying for the world but for those whom you have given me, for they are yours. 10 All mine are yours, and yours are mine, and I am glorified in them. 11 And I am no longer in the world, but they are in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father,
keep them in your name,
which you have given me,
that they may be one, even as we are one.
12 While I was with them, I kept them in your name, which you have given me. I have guarded them, and not one of them has been lost except the son of destruction, that the Scripture might be fulfilled.
13 But now I am coming to you, and these things I speak in the world,
that they may have my joy fulfilled in themselves.
14 I have given them your word, and the world has hated them because they are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. 15 I do not ask that you take them out of the world, but that you keep them from the evil one. 16 They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world.
17 Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth. 18 As you sent me into the world, so I have sent them into the world. 19 And for their sake I consecrate myself, that they also may be sanctified in truth.
20 “I do not ask for these only, but also for those who will believe in me through their word, 21 that they may all be one, just as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that they also may be in us, so that the world may believe that you have sent me. 22 The glory that you have given me I have given to them, that they may be one even as we are one,
23 I in them and you in me, that they may become perfectly one,
so that the world may know that you sent me and loved them even as you loved me.
24 Father, I desire that they also, whom you have given me, may be with me where I am, to see my glory that you have given me because you loved me before the foundation of the world. 25 O righteous Father, even though the world does not know you, I know you, and these know that you have sent me.
I made known to them Your Name, and I will continue to make it known,
that the love
with which you have loved me
may be in them, and I in them.”
John 17 is perfectly the Mission and Prayer of Jesus Christ.
Joyful!
John 3:16
For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world,
but in order that the world might be saved
through Him.
A great memory compliment for John 17 is Jesus holding up 3 fingers, for John 3:17.
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
John 3:34
For the One Whom God has sent speaks the words of God,
for God gives the Spirit without limit.
If the Disciples hadn't seen Thomas correctly predict the death of Jesus, if they had seen this John's Gospel Chapter 17 telling all Glory of God's Plan, in the face of death, the disciples would have received Comfort and Strength. Instead, the events tell us the overwhelming Love God has for us in unbelievably wretched situations. God's Words comfort and strengthen and do not quit when the recipient, us, fails to hear.
Jesus tells in one of the Gospels, the people should believe from the works of Jesus. John 17 proclaims Jesus does not fail us, Jesus does not fail us, Jesus does not fail us even as His Life is on the line, and death approaches. His Love and message do not change.
The last words of this, John's Gospel Chapter 17, Jesus prays for us today in Living Word. His last day message is the Name of God should be carried as Love.
Jesus, we need.
Jesus, we call upon.
Jesus show Yourself.
And this is Communion
and we take ourselves to Church
to Honor Jesus
and take Communion
to be Nourished in our souls.
Abba, Our Father,
We long for You to Speak, "Peace." "Calm."
And Dwell in us, making us the People You long for.
Dwell in those we Love and pray for.
Strengthen us to do the good works You have for us to walk in. We will Stand Firm and be Strong. Knowing in this season, stand not be tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine.
Let Love be genuine with Mercy.
Father, we prayed about 2020 Covid looking a lot like the Chapters of the Exodus. We pray for the birds and the problems with quail in Numbers 11. Two weeks ago, we prayed for 8 states declaring not to feed the birds because of mystery bird illness.
This week, ten states have a ban on feeding the birds.
We do not have to feel helpless. We can Pray and God will hear us. We can shred newspaper, coffee grounds and eggshells and increase the earthworm population for the birds.
Harris County, Texas had this problem for two months around March of 2021 and this healed.
Recommendations are for using bleach in the bird feeder, this hurts the paint. So, I'm going with nonporous extra human plates on the ground I will exchange daily
and sanitize my hands and wash.
John 5:17
Jesus answered them, “My Father is working
until now, and I am working.”
John 6:29
Jesus told them, “This is the work God wants from you: Believe in the One He has sent.”
We long for Your Love and help, Father God, to have Your Kingdom, Power and Glory upon Your Throne. The Fringe of Your Robe placed upon all of Your Good Creation.
Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lord of Hosts.
We pray more of Your Good Will filling the whole earth with Your Glory.
We will remember our answered Prayers. Like Harris County and the birds being healed.
And live this Day.
Looking in expectation You will strengthen us to Seek You first
and find Your Kingdom being glimpsed enfolding us in Your Good Creation.
You are our hope now, always and in the coming weeks.
Covering us with the Name and Power of Jesus,
Covering with thanks the Doctors, Nurses, Hospital Staffs and their prayers.
The joy of seeing family bicycling and walking.
Good people. Holding up Life for one another.
We ask Jesus to Bless our Nation to please You
and for Your Love to encourage
and strengthen the earth in goodness.
In His Love, Jesus Christ saves us. Amen.
