1 Peter 2:11-25 ~ Love the brotherhood of believers

1 Peter 2:11-25

Dear friends, I urge you, as aliens and strangers in the world, to abstain from sinful desires, which war against your soul.

12 Live such good lives among the pagans that, though they accuse you of doing wrong, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day he visits us.

13 Submit yourselves for the Lord's sake to every authority instituted among men: whether to the king, as the supreme authority, 14 or to governors, who are sent by him to punish those who do wrong and to commend those who do right.

15 For it is God's will that by doing good you should silence the ignorant talk of foolish men. 16 Live as free men, but do not use your freedom as a cover-up for evil; live as servants of God.

17 Show proper respect to everyone: Love the brotherhood of believers, fear God, honor the king. 18 Slaves, submit yourselves to your masters with all respect, not only to those who are good and considerate, but also to those who are harsh. 19

For it is commendable if a man bears up under the pain of unjust suffering because he is conscious of God. 20 But how is it to your credit if you receive a beating for doing wrong and endure it? But if you suffer for doing good and you endure it, this is commendable before God. 21 To this you were called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps.

22"He committed no sin, and no deceit was found in his mouth." 23When they hurled their insults at him, he did not retaliate; when he suffered, he made no threats. Instead, he entrusted himself to him who judges justly. 24 He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed.

25 For you were like sheep going astray, but now you have returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.

The idea of planetary health.

Is debated because the chasm in direction factors:  a power factor, a money factor, an influence factor, in reality, this really comes down to a hope and a future.

We could start at a Worldwide Pandemic, cutting people off from one another. Cut from employment/sustenance, family, freedom to travel and in a box preserving life itself.  We have not had any real conversations about Health Care and Longevity Goals. Stunning.

Health Care and Longevity Goals are a line in the sand, but something more fluffy and comforting might give us a more important pause. The death of the Gift Shop. We do not feel we have the resources to bless one another. The separation of divorce and fault free society. Single mothers and the separation of church and state.  And in conversations since the 1980s, mothers of small children had separation civil wars if one should be career minded or family minded. Then the restroom wars. The hopelessness of lower income and advancement slip sliding middle class.

And fearmongering done to us all if we didn't wear same use conversation as being camo of old blue jeans and a bland t-shirt - verbally -  to adopt the same values in all conversations. Fearmongering.

The Death of Gift Shops.

Is probably the beginning of the Pandemic.

Planetary health.
"A state of complete physical, mental and social wellbeing and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity"- as well as achievement of the highest attainable standard of health, wellbeing, and equity worldwide through judicious attention to the human systems – political, economic, and social – that shape the future of humanity and the Earth's natural systems defining the safe environmental limits within which humanity can flourish.

We can't be generous or gracious without being weak, risking our advancement? A self-centered opportunity we should have grasped like a life preserver.  We can't give service, without the bottom of greed never being satisfied. If we withhold affection from our families, they will give greater service, keep their chin tucked and leave us alone to travel to work and do our computer things without taking us out of our air-conditioned environment??? Friends must appear in order and rank to support us to the top rank. Friendly enough, cool enough, not too much above us. Support without commitment.

The patient, earth, is sick. Will fearmongering give enough power to create equity? No.

We have bullied ourselves into Time Out.  Pandemic Time Out.
Then, now, the: "What Will Happen Next, Please Be Ok Time."

Are we sunk?
Consider 2010 DISASTER.

2010 This was a man-made disaster.
I knew young men who put on Hazmat suits and started to clean up wildlife fish, birds, mammals covered in the Disaster.  The BBC and other news agencies said the Gulf of Mexico was ruined. And in a week, the oil, "simply disappeared." You cannot believe God is Deist and know the 2010 Deepwater Oil DISASTER. A wonder and work of God. A Miracle.

2022 Now consider the Pandemic Time Out.
Go home and spend time with your loved ones away from career. The Sky is Clear. Time to consider family and goals.  Goals. Now we have mass transit plans?  Healthcare Plans not as costly and coy as mortgages and rent expense? Gift Shops?  Never despair. Pandemics do not ever clear up like the Deepwater Oil Spill DISASTER. 5 Years of Pandemic. 5 Years of wars like fighting on an airplane. Then 5 years of improvements remembered for mankind for 500 years.

End harsh rudeness and fearmongering. Be the gift bringer.

2019 Gulf of Mexico Clear Skies

2022 What do we have in common?

Deepwater Discomfort. We might even venture to call this war of souls. The innocent are certainly in the Crosshairs.

Biblical Discomfort.

1 Peter 2:11-25 is not comfortable.  The 1990 Larger Episcopal Churches were upset with this passage for condoning slavery.  Very similar to saying Prohibition didn't exist. Times are times. Today consider alcoholism, addictions of all kinds, harsh employment, poverty as slavery and let your heart be open.

We cannot be held in the slavery of unkindness and fearmongering. We must Fight the Good Fight of Kindness and Sincerity. Hope for one another. Graciousness.  Pull for Justice and Mercy.  Not fearmongers.

And if you aren't gracious to the Scriptures, these verses sound very Cotton Mather. Mather, who thundered about sin and knew bonded-slavery, indentured servants, teenagers, were dying left and right.  The chance a teenager, usually British,  sold to the new world would live, was unbelievably low.  From 1642 to 1776 Benjamin Franklin ran from being indentured as a slave.

The road is narrow. Yesterday, today and tomorrow on God's Good Creation, the road is narrow. If Christian charity is sneered at, Gin Lane will lead to repressed values of Human value. Drugs, child abandonment, marriage abandonment, slums and no way to hope for a better life for ourselves or our futures.

If Christian Servitude is enforced, you will be put in jail for eating Ham at Christmas in your home. Or have Cotton Mather as your leader.  Oliver Cromwell.

If Power gets hold of Christianity, Protestants and Catholics will kill one another.

We are very much Gin Lane now.
1 out of 3 are alcoholics and substance. 1 out of 6 has been sexually abused.  Child abandonment is Homelessness and Divorce Issues. The population of Homelessness has been counted as above 350,000 people in San Francisco. And an additional 350,000 people in Los Angeles with cities experiencing Homelessness as never remembered.  100,000 missing at the Southern Border. Drugs. Crime. 8% inflation, that is Go Brandon for fifty percent increase in gasoline and grocery/health.

Let's be Gracious and Generous to the Scripture:

19 For it is commendable if a man bears up under the pain of unjust suffering because he is conscious of God.

Luke 4

And Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit in the wilderness 2 for forty days, being tempted by the devil. And he ate nothing during those days. And when they were ended, he was hungry. 3 The devil said to him, “If you are the Son of God, command this stone to become bread.” 4 And Jesus answered him, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone.’” 5 And the devil took him up and showed him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time, 6 and said to him, “To you I will give all this authority and their glory, for it has been delivered to me, and I give it to whom I will. 7 If you, then, will worship me, it will all be yours.” 8 And Jesus answered him, “It is written,

“‘You shall worship the Lord your God,
and him only shall you serve.’”

9 And he took him to Jerusalem and set him on the pinnacle of the temple and said to him, “If you are the Son of God, throw yourself down from here, 10 for it is written,

“‘He will command his angels concerning you,
    to guard you,’

11 and

“‘On their hands they will bear you up,
lest you strike your foot against a stone.’”

12 And Jesus answered him, “It is said, ‘You shall not put the Lord your God to the test.’” 13 And when the devil had ended every temptation, he departed from him until an opportune time.

14 And Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit to Galilee, and a report about him went out through all the surrounding country. 15 And he taught in their synagogues, being glorified by all.

1 Peter 2:11-25

Dear friends, I urge you, as aliens and strangers in the world, to abstain from sinful desires, which war against your soul.

hungry we have reached a time period of being unsettled.

12 Live such good lives among the pagans that, though they accuse you of doing wrong, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day he visits us.

Exactly. Jesus spoke of a time when we did not realize the time of our visitation. He was saying we have to look for our blessings even as the time  is  1 Peter 2:18 harsh. Gratitude is way to combat war against our souls. Luke 4 is not Jesus just suffering. Jesus is speaking up. Not as a gong, but as a force of Life, Light and Goodness. Truth.

13 Submit yourselves for the Lord's sake to every authority instituted among men: whether to the king, as the supreme authority, 14 or to governors, who are sent by him to punish those who do wrong and to commend those who do right.

Jesus knew He was in the wilderness and uncomfortable.  Correctly, Jesus knew His Father as Authority. Justice of God is merciful. Faith God would guard Him and guide Him.

15 For it is God's will that by doing good you should silence the ignorant talk of foolish men. 16 Live as free men, but do not use your freedom as a cover-up for evil; live as servants of God.

Jesus won this argument against evil. Recognizing Goodness and avoiding evil. In the won freedom, Jesus did all things well.

17 Show proper respect to everyone: Love the brotherhood of believers, fear God, honor the king. 18 Slaves, submit yourselves to your masters with all respect, not only to those who are good and considerate, but also to those who are harsh.

Jesus definitely isn't the movies. He didn't drop the F bomb. The important aspects of life deal with empires, our future, facing good and evil. Jesus stayed relevant and in God's place and plan. The focus of love and goodness. Not a slave for what is evil. Language is elbows out, today, without the consideration of being direct and knowing when to quit and move on. Jesus does.

19 For it is commendable if a man bears up under the pain of unjust suffering because he is conscious of God. 20 But how is it to your credit if you receive a beating for doing wrong and endure it? But if you suffer for doing good and you endure it, this is commendable before God. 21 To this you were called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps.

Jesus saves us. He has given us a Gift of God.

22"He committed no sin, and no deceit was found in his mouth." 23When they hurled their insults at him, he did not retaliate; when he suffered, he made no threats.

Truth. Jesus, as the manifest Word of God, used words wisely. And even as He faced evil, knew there was so much more to Life than just evil. The wisdom of Christ to move past evil and find Joy.

In Faith, Jesus knew Joy instead of oppression. Jesus expects the Goodness of God.

Instead, he entrusted himself to him who judges justly. 24 He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed.

Gift of God. Graciousness unearned. God is Love.

25 For you were like sheep going astray, but now you have returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.

Jesus The Lord!

Abba, Father

Isaiah 40:29-31

He gives power to the weak and strength to the powerless.
Even youths will become weak and tired,
and young men will fall in exhaustion.

But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength.
They will soar high on wings like eagles.
They will run and not grow weary.
They will walk and not faint.

Abba,

Your Nature is God of Love. God of Encouragement. God of Hope.
God wants to save the world in Jesus Christ.

The Nature of Jesus Christ is on display for all generations.
Jesus did not send down fire upon the Samaritans.

Jesus explained God allows divorce for hard-heartedness.
And explains if we Believe in the Scriptures
we should do the work God gives us to believe,
Love and Bless one another.

He has spoken to us by His Son, whom He appointed heir of all things, and through whom He made the universe. The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of His nature, upholding all things by His powerful word.

After He had provided purification for sins,
He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high.

Thank You for creating us to be who You want us to be.

Today, we choose to see ourselves as You see us, to believe in our life in You
as You believe in us and to love each other as You love us.

Thank you for the resurrection power of Your Presence
- living in us as individuals and in your Church.

Dwell in those we Love.
Help us always to seek You First.
In Jesus Christ, we will finish well.

Asking Your Help and Blessing
on Marriages and Families.

Your Beloved, pray for Ukraine, times are difficult and hopeful.

We pray the violence will stop here and in Your Good Creation.

In Jesus Christ, We thank You for Rain,
and pray the horrible heat waves will continue to end.

We ask for the return of good weather.

And ask Your Love and Mercy on the
many difficult challenges of healing from the Pandemic.

Help us to seek You first.
Dwell in us and those we love.
We will finish well in Jesus Christ.

We receive everything You desire for us this day. And the days to come.
In Jesus. Amen.

Exodus 34 ~ the top of the mountain

Dead Sea Scroll of Deuteronomy inset below

Exodus 34

The Lord said to Moses, “Cut for yourself two tablets of stone like the first, and I will write on the tablets the words that were on the first tablets, which you broke. 2 Be ready by the morning, and come up in the morning to Mount Sinai, and present yourself there to me on the top of the mountain. 3 No one shall come up with you, and let no one be seen throughout all the mountain. Let no flocks or herds graze opposite that mountain.”

4 So Moses cut two tablets of stone like the first. And he rose early in the morning and went up on Mount Sinai, as the Lord had commanded him, and took in his hand two tablets of stone.

5 The Lord descended in the cloud and stood with him there, and proclaimed the name of the Lord. 6 The Lord passed before him and proclaimed, “The Lord, the Lord, a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness, 7 keeping steadfast love for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, but who will by no means clear the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children and the children's children, to the third and the fourth generation.”

8 And Moses quickly bowed his head toward the earth and worshiped. 9 And he said, “If now I have found favor in your sight, O Lord, please let the Lord go in the midst of us, for it is a stiff-necked people, and pardon our iniquity and our sin, and take us for your inheritance.”

10 And he said, “Behold, I am making a covenant. Before all your people I will do marvels, such as have not been created in all the earth or in any nation. And all the people among whom you are shall see the work of the Lord, for it is an awesome thing that I will do with you.

11 “Observe what I command you this day. Behold, I will drive out before you the Amorites, the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites. 12 Take care, lest you make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land to which you go, lest it become a snare in your midst. 13 You shall tear down their altars and break their pillars and cut down their Asherim 14 (for you shall worship no other god, for the Lord, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God), 15 lest you make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land, and when they whore after their gods and sacrifice to their gods and you are invited, you eat of his sacrifice, 16 and you take of their daughters for your sons, and their daughters whore after their gods and make your sons whore after their gods.

17 “You shall not make for yourself any gods of cast metal.

18 “You shall keep the Feast of Unleavened Bread. Seven days you shall eat unleavened bread, as I commanded you, at the time appointed in the month Abib, for in the month Abib you came out from Egypt. 19 All that open the womb are mine, all your male livestock, the firstborn of cow and sheep. 20 The firstborn of a donkey you shall redeem with a lamb, or if you will not redeem it you shall break its neck. All the firstborn of your sons you shall redeem. And none shall appear before me empty-handed.

21 “Six days you shall work, but on the seventh day you shall rest. In plowing time and in harvest you shall rest. 22 You shall observe the Feast of Weeks, the firstfruits of wheat harvest, and the Feast of Ingathering at the year's end. 23 Three times in the year shall all your males appear before the Lord God, the God of Israel. 24 For I will cast out nations before you and enlarge your borders; no one shall covet your land, when you go up to appear before the Lord your God three times in the year.

25 “You shall not offer the blood of my sacrifice with anything leavened, or let the sacrifice of the Feast of the Passover remain until the morning. 26 The best of the firstfruits of your ground you shall bring to the house of the Lord your God. You shall not boil a young goat in its mother's milk.”

27 And the Lord said to Moses, “Write these words, for in accordance with these words I have made a covenant with you and with Israel.” 28 So he was there with the Lord forty days and forty nights. He neither ate bread nor drank water. And he wrote on the tablets the words of the covenant, the Ten Commandments.

29 When Moses came down from Mount Sinai, with the two tablets of the testimony in his hand as he came down from the mountain, Moses did not know that the skin of his face shone because he had been talking with God.30 Aaron and all the people of Israel saw Moses, and behold, the skin of his face shone, and they were afraid to come near him. 31 But Moses called to them, and Aaron and all the leaders of the congregation returned to him, and Moses talked with them. 32 Afterward all the people of Israel came near, and he commanded them all that the Lord had spoken with him in Mount Sinai. 33 And when Moses had finished speaking with them, he put a veil over his face.

34 Whenever Moses went in before the Lord to speak with him, he would remove the veil, until he came out. And when he came out and told the people of Israel what he was commanded, 35 the people of Israel would see the face of Moses, that the skin of Moses' face was shining. And Moses would put the veil over his face again, until he went in to speak with him.

Deuteronomy 27
The Altar Stone above is the only Altar found on Mount Gerizim. Mount of Blessings. This is a cross and is a modern stone.

High Places was the discussion in a Bible Study I remember with Father Bill Clarkson in High School Youth Group. We were asked if having a service on a Mountain top would be something we would enjoy. The response in Dallas, Texas was unanimously positive. We were then educated High Places are where the Baal - infant killed for prosperity - and idol worship takes place. Silence ensued.

But wait - we were all so discouraged - the Transfiguration! And weddings outside - God's Temple is within - having the indwelling of the Holy Spirit! Not only that - there wasn't always a Temple and Moses was called up from his routing to the top of Mount Horeb and/or Mount Sinai (are used interchangeably) in the Bible.

Did Moses believe prior to the unthinkable? Difficult to tell. But being called away from your everyday to a jaw dropper, is a memorable event.

Union General Lew Wallace wrote Ben Hur. As he started the novel, Wallace wrote- I do not think myself good enough to be a communicant. When he finished writing, "When I had finished [the writing], I said to myself with Balthasar, "God only is so great." I had become a believer."

Professor of Archaeology Adam Zertal, University of Haifa, has undergone a transformation of faith. From finding a High Place.

“The altar was supposed to be nonexistent, a legend,” says Zertal, leaning on crutches, a legacy of wounds he suffered in combat during the 1973 Yom Kippur War against Egypt and Syria. “At first we didn’t know what we were excavating. The stones at Mount Ebal are crucial. “If this corroborates exactly what is written in that very old part of the Bible,” says Zertal, “it means that probably other parts are historically correct. The impact is tremendous.”

Zertal believes this is the altar the Bible Moses wrote saying build on Mount Ebal, after the Israelites arrived in the promised land. This is where land is given among the 12 tribes, and where the Israelites “became a people,” as the Old Testament puts it.

"We are digging up Bible stories!" Adam Zertal commented: "We discovered this place, all covered with stones, in April 1980. At that time I never dreamed we were dealing with the altar, because I was taught in Tel Aviv University - where anti-Biblical tendencies say theories are untrue, and Biblical accounts were written later. I didn't even know of the story of the Joshua's altar. But we surveyed every meter of the site, and in the course of nine years of excavation, we discovered a very old structure with no parallels to anything we had seen before."

Carbon dating of artifacts play out.

Artifacts of Egyptian Public Lists have interesting patterns as well.

The name of the city Jacob-El was recorded for the first time in Thutmose’s III era. Yahweh was also recorded for the first time during Thutmose III. During this time period, according to Egyptian historical documentation, Israel was not a recorded as a name, the people were recorded as hyksos. On a statue of Amenhotep III at Kom el Hetan is Amenhotep’s funeral statue and on the base of the statue is Joseph-el.

Dynasty 15 - 1663-1555 BC. (5 Kings) Hyksos Rule. Hyksos sacked Memphis about 1720 BC. Josephus quotes Manetho in "Against the Jews" (Book I) about this period. Manetho identifies Israel with the Hyksos which where expelled by Ahmose from Egypt. Josephus quotes Manetho describing this expulsion by saying: "Then the kings of the Thebaid and of the rest of Egypt rose in revolt against the shepherds (Hyksos)..

Luke 10:5-9
"When you enter a house, first say, 'Peace to this house.'

If someone who promotes peace is there, your peace will rest on them; if not, it will return to you. ...
"When you enter a town and are welcomed, eat what is offered to you.
Heal the sick who are there and tell them, '
The Kingdom of God has come near to you.'

Abba, Father,

1 Chronicles 4:9-10 Jabez was more honorable than his brothers †

1 Chronicles 4:9-10

Jabez was more honorable than his brothers;
and his mother called his name Jabez, saying, “Because I bore him in pain.”

10 Jabez called upon the God of Israel, saying, “Oh that you would bless me and enlarge my border, and that your hand might be with me, and that you would keep me from harm so that it might not bring me pain!”

And God granted what he asked.

Jabez is a pretty well known and longed for set of Verses in the Bible. And in the middle of all those sons had sons and ... sons.

Truly, it's rough reading to read through names that could be Pharmaceutical supplies. God surely was pulling out His Wallet and showing off all the tall, short, fat, beautiful, bold and stylish Children of Israel He loves. And has more photos still to show to you of people you never knew and won't meet... ok, maybe meet ... Later.

Na. God usually has a Plan and Purpose for Hope and Future. There is no dust.

We see Jabez is not too many sentences away from the very recognizable Heavy Hitters of the Bible. Jabez starts at sentence nine from.... Judah. Son of Israel. What do we know from this? We don't have the lineage the Second Temple held on to with such pride. The lineage jumps and doesn't connect. It's long and wordy to show you, 1 plus 500 is missing. The slaves had an idea which tribe they belonged to. But they were slaves working with straw. The genealogy is FLAWED. Broken. This precise record is very imprecise.

Jabez arrives in the new country of:  it's hard to make a living and there are a lot of us.

Placement gives us to understand how close the Exodus was to their hearts and memories, being only eight sentences away from Judah. Incredibly secure in knowing the Exodus is nearby. Very astonishing.

This Kingdom of Israel, they are not far away in their memories of the Exodus. A new Kingdom.

Jabez is born after David is listed in the 3rd Chapter and is saying there are so many people in the Tribes, they know you as if you are in The Big Fat Greek Wedding. "Gus: Over here, is my brother, Ted, and his wife Melissa, and their children Anita, Diane, and Nick. Over here, my brother Tommy, his wife Angie, and their children Anita, Diane, and Nick. My brother George, his wife Frieda, and they children, Anita, Diane, and Nick." Useful things: Minopenicillins, Antipseudomonal Penicillins, Beta-lactamase , NaturalPenicillins, and the Penicillinase.

Why is this included?

The Kingdom of David has gotten to be an urban mix of people we can't exactly say hello to. This is a large city. We aren't sure anymore if Nick is Penicillins or Beta-lactamase. He might be the nephew... We just don't know anymore. We have Urban Sprawl.

Does God Himself have Urban Sprawl? Un peu. Maybe. Sorta. He definitely has some who are like baskets of silver with golden apples. Ask God, it's His Quote! Why would God have favorites and be able to see above the crowd to Zacchaeus?

Jabez is here to give us a clue. He was more Noble than His Brothers.

1 Corinthians 1:25-27commenting on 1 Chronicles and dust storms...

For the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men. 26 For consider your calling, brothers: not many of you were wise according to worldly standards, not many were powerful, not many were of noble birth. 27 But God chose what is foolish in the world to shame the wise; God chose what is weak in the world to shame the strong.

The Bible is pretty official. Read by generations to discover what is what. David has announced His City and Nation is a big, big place. This is a public announcement. David and Samuel and Nathan intend to be Strong in The Lord. Grow the Nation of Israel.

Acts 17:11
Now these Jews were more noble than those in Thessalonica; they received the word with all eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see if these things were so.

Jabez is seen from the crowd, in God's eyes. Acts 17:11. Zacchaeus!

We never hear about Jabez again. Why possibly? This tells you about movers and shakers who stay movers and shakers. If you ever lived in Mississippi, you have heard of Walter Sillers. Someone backed Walter Sillers. Might have been a cousin. Might have been there for decades. They all might have sat in courtrooms to seeing events played out. Yes, they did. Information paths.

Like Jabez asking to be blessed as Jacob did, but Jabez, this is a more mental conversation, and pleasing to the Lord.  And in this belief inside Jabez and his real conversation with the Lord, Jabez didn't just sit around. Working Faith & Expanding his borders. We can believe the Promise of God, Almighty, Creator and Father of All.  Jeremiah was saved and lived in his home. Alleluia!

The work God gives us is to believe. Jabez is not recorded building the walls and city of Jerusalem. Believe. Faith is you and the Lord God Almighty, adopting you in Jesus Christ.

To see further into Jabez, you are going to have to want to know. Be interested in life stories and if this is Nick of Anita or Melissa. Knowing this is a big world and the opportunities to make life more interesting have to be at hand. (Pandemic times and world equivalent.) Jabez is interested not of moving to Manhattan, Jabez is going to enrich lives. Jabez will take the mundane and make something like a rabbit out of a hat. Bloom where you are planted. Faith is believing God.

Jabez is going to live, live without pain.
He isn't going to have sinusitis and bunions. And without pain. He will be able to give abundantly without concern for his own supplies.  Maybe and surely. Haven't we all known someone suffering even things like potential Esophageal Cancer? I know a woman who was being tested in her sixties. She was a widow and fell in love, married and began to bloom like a rose garden. End of need for Esophageal testing. She knitted prayer throw blankets and people asked for them because healing prayer in the knitting group was WORKING.

So, did Jabez have a life of good health? Yes, faith and love bring health. Faith.

Emotional Pain.
Did Abraham, Father of Nations, live without pain? We know he did not. He warred and helped others escape injustice. He had tribal kings and Pharaohs, too, to contend with. He struggled in his faith. Something interesting to us.

Jabez lived without pain because he asked in faith, he believed in the Word and Power of God
and he put his problems in God's Hands. Jabez didn't do as Mary said in Luke 1. Jabez didn't live in the future and forget to live in today. Jabez believed in Today. God is his Hope and Future. Today. The Lord is His and His Borders are secure. The faith to love and be secure.

Matthew 6:34 Jesus said,
Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself.
Each day has enough trouble of its own

We'd  have to take it on faith, Jabez did this to live without pain.

Abigail looked with faith to be generous, forgiving. Her spouse was an example of the other part of life.

1 Samuel 25

10 Nabal answered David’s servants, “Who is this David? Who is this son of Jesse? Many servants are breaking away from their masters these days. 11 Why should I take my bread and water, and the meat I have slaughtered for my shearers, and give it to men coming from who knows where?”

12 David’s men turned around and went back. When they arrived, they reported every word. 13 David said to his men, “Each of you strap on your sword!” So they did, and David strapped his on as well. About four hundred men went up with David, while two hundred stayed with the supplies.

14 One of the servants told Abigail, Nabal’s wife, “David sent messengers from the wilderness to give our master his greetings, but he hurled insults at them. 15 Yet these men were very good to us. They did not mistreat us, and the whole time we were out in the fields near them nothing was missing. 16 Night and day they were a wall around us the whole time we were herding our sheep near them.

17 Now think it over and see what you can do, because disaster is hanging over our master and his whole household. He is such a wicked man that no one can talk to him.”

18 Abigail acted quickly. She took two hundred loaves of bread, two skins of wine, five dressed sheep, five seahs of roasted grain, a hundred cakes of raisins and two hundred cakes of pressed figs, and loaded them on donkeys. 19 Then she told her servants, “Go on ahead; I’ll follow you.”

But she did not tell her husband Nabal. 20 As she came riding her donkey into a mountain ravine, there were David and his men descending toward her, and she met them.

21 David had just said, “It’s been useless—all my watching over this fellow’s property in the wilderness so that nothing of his was missing. He has paid me back evil for good. 22 May God deal with David, be it ever so severely, if by morning I leave alive one male of all who belong to him!”

23 When Abigail saw David, she quickly got off her donkey and bowed down before David with her face to the ground. 24 She fell at his feet and said: “Pardon your servant, my lord, and let me speak to you; hear what your servant has to say. 25 Please pay no attention, my lord, to that wicked man Nabal. He is just like his name—his name means Fool, and folly goes with him. And as for me, your servant, I did not see the men my lord sent. 26 And now, my lord, as surely as the Lord your God lives and as you live, since the Lord has kept you from bloodshed and from avenging yourself with your own hands, may your enemies and all who are intent on harming my lord be like Nabal.

27 And let this gift, which your servant has brought to my lord, be given to the men who follow you. 28 “Please forgive your servant’s presumption. The Lord your God will certainly make a lasting dynasty for my lord, because you fight the Lord’s battles, and no wrongdoing will be found in you as long as you live.

How did David pray?
The New Testament tells us when we put our hearts to You,
The Holy Spirit will pray for us.

We can simply put our hearts to You. Proverbs 8.
You find delight in the hearts of mankind.
Placing Jesus as the Light of mankind.

Thank You for renewing Your Mercies Daily.
Help us to build upon Your gift and not let our godly truth slide away.

Yesterday, we had a small dime sized chip in our window, we went to a business
in our area, specializing in car washing and chip repair. They told us they knew our window would cost $1,100 to repair. And when we got back from our lunch, we found they had drilled the window and now it had 3 drill holes and an 8" crack. We found out on YouTube drilling windows stopped in 2017 when a window vacuum was created. The GM said fixing windows
at his place is 50/50 for a repair.

The 500 reviews have one mention of this. He asked we let him do our headliner for $700,
free wash included. Upon asking, we found he doesn't offer a warranty.

Got home to find putting shock in the pool turned the pool black instantaneously, the size of a queen bed. Panicked. Prayed.
-It's called metal cleating. Pool company phone calls said this is quite rare.
Today, all traces of the stain are gone.
Thank GOD.
Yesterday had mercies and glories of God.
But we surely saw stress to put us all in an early grave.
God reward Goodness and stop evil very quickly.

The Economist says 8% inflation is rubbish and the rules were changed on
reporting to give us this junk. My face moisturizer costed $11 for centuries, now it's $24. Walmart. Hey, that's some pretty big 8%, huh.

Thank You so much for the people who pray for us. Daily. Near and far. Father God, like David help us to stay in Faith, Joy, Peace and Love seeking Your Kingdom. Pleasing to You, Father God.

Blessing Father God seeing the New Year come in with new hearts. Your Direction. Our Thanks for Your Word of Healing upon Elliott and Harby and their family.

Asking more of Your Heaven on earth in Your Good will for all of our loved ones and all the people praying. Saints and a new generation covering Your Good Creation in great prayer. Hearts pleasing to God.

In the Name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

About scripture-for-today.blogspot.com/

We believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He has saved all who call upon His name and rely on Him for His Grace. The Scriptures are living & active and are for understanding the Lord Almighty. Biblical readings are chosen from the Ecumenical Christian Church and the Nicene Council, 325 A.D., approved Apocrypha. People remember not just from reading, but by sight and orally- an image has been added as well as audio readings. God tends to link the passages together with fascinates - this blogger, Anne-Laurel Gardere

About Me

My photo
Email registry at bottom.! “All Scripture is inspired by God” (2 Timothy 3:16). Men “moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God” (2 Peter 1:21). The Holy Spirit carried men along, moving and guiding them as they wrote in their own words what God wanted them to say. The Bible is unique; comprised of 80 separate books, & written over a period of thousands of years by more than 40 writers with one Author, spanning the centuries, different states of peace & war & different situations in life. The Bible answers the question: of who is God, who is man & what can their relationship can be. Although the Bible was written on perishable material and copied by hand for many centuries, its accuracy is not in doubt, proven by Dead Sea Scrolls and papyrus from 2,000 years. The Bible has survived persecution & criticism to be read with great interest in each generation. The Bible gives witness to the greatness of the Creator. A loving Father concerned for all of his creation. With each verse of the bible witnessing to God is love and the multitude & vastness of His attributes. The Bible was written for you. <><
