John 8 ~ And He who sent Me is with Me

John 8

Jesus went to the Mount of Olives. 2 Early in the morning He came again to the temple.

All the people came to Him, and He sat down and taught them. 3 The scribes and the Pharisees brought a woman who had been caught in adultery, and placing her in the midst 4 they said to Him, “Teacher, this woman has been caught in the act of adultery. 

5 Now in the Law, Moses commanded us to stone such women. So what do you say?” 6 This they said to test him, that they might have some charge to bring against Him. 

Jesus bent down and wrote with His Finger on the ground. 7 And as they continued to ask Him, 

He stood up and said to them, 

“Let him who is without sin among you be the first to throw a stone at her.” 8 And once more He bent down and wrote on the ground. 

9 But when they heard it, they went away one by one, beginning with the older ones, and Jesus was left alone with the woman standing before Him. 

10 Jesus stood up and said to her, 

“Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?” 
 
11 She said, “No one, Lord.” 

And Jesus said, 

“Neither do I condemn you; go, and from now on sin no more.”

12 Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, 

“I am the Light of the world. Whoever follows Me will not walk in darkness, but will have the Light of Life.” 

13 So the Pharisees said to him, “You are bearing witness about yourself; your testimony is not true.” 

14 Jesus answered, 

“Even if I do bear witness about Myself, My Testimony is true, for I know where I came from and where I am going, but you do not know where I come from or where I am going. 15 You judge according to the flesh; I judge no one. 16 Yet even if I do judge, my judgment is true, for it is not I alone who judge, but I and the Father Who sent me. 17 In your Law it is written that the testimony of two people is true. 18 I am the one who bears witness about Myself, and the Father Who sent me bears witness about me.” 

19 They said to him therefore, “Where is your Father?”

Jesus answered, 

“You know neither Me nor my Father. If you knew Me, you would know My Father also.” 

20 These words he spoke in the treasury, as He taught in the temple;

 but no one arrested Him, because His hour had not yet come.

21 So He said to them again, 

“I am going away, and you will seek Me, and you will die in your sin. Where I am going, you cannot come.” 

22 So the Jews said, “Will he kill himself, since he says, ‘Where I am going, you cannot come’?” 

23 He said to them, 

“You are from below; I am from above. You are of this world; I am not of this world. 24 I told you that you would die in your sins, for unless you believe that I am He you will die in your sins.” 

25 So they said to him, “Who are you?” 

Jesus said to them, 

“Just what I have been telling you from the beginning. 26 I have much to say about you and much to judge, but He who sent me is true, and I declare to the world what I have heard from Him.” 

27 They did not understand that He had been speaking to them about the Father. 

28 So Jesus said to them, 

“When you have lifted up the Son of Man, then you will know that I am He, and that I do nothing on My Own Authority, but speak just as the Father taught Me. 29 And He Who sent Me is with Me. He has not left me alone, for I always do the things that are pleasing to Him.”

30 As He was saying these things, many believed in Him.

31 So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed Him, 

“If you abide in My Word, you are truly My Disciples, 

 and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

33 They answered Him, “We are offspring of Abraham and have never been enslaved to anyone. How is it that you say, ‘You will become free’?”

34 Jesus answered them, 

“Truly, truly, I say to you, everyone who practices sin is a slave to sin. 35 The slave does not remain in the house forever; the son remains forever. 

 
36 So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed."

37 I know that you are offspring of Abraham; yet you seek to kill me because my word finds no place in you. 38 I speak of what I have seen with my Father, and you do what you have heard from your father.”


39 They answered him, “Abraham is our father.” 

Jesus said to them, 

“If you were Abraham's children, you would be doing the works Abraham did, 40 but now you seek to kill me, a Man Who has told you the truth that I heard from God. This is not what Abraham did. 41 You are doing the works your father did.” 

They said to him, “We were not born of sexual immorality. We have one Father—even God.” 

42 Jesus said to them, 

“If God were your Father, you would love Me, for I came from God and I am here. I came not of My Own accord, but He sent Me. 43 Why do you not understand what I say? It is because you cannot bear to hear My Word. 

44 You are of your father the devil, and your will is to do your father's desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks out of his own character, for he is a liar and the father of lies. 

45 But because I tell the truth, you do not believe me. 46 Which one of you convicts me of sin? If I tell the truth, why do you not believe me? 

47 Whoever is of God hears the Words of God.

 The reason why you do not hear them is that you are not of God.”

48 The Jews answered Him, “Are we not right in saying that you are a Samaritan and have a demon?” 

49 Jesus answered, 

“I do not have a demon, but I honor My Father, and you dishonor Me. 50 Yet I do not seek My Own Glory; there is One who seeks it, and He is the Judge. 51 Truly, truly, I say to you, if anyone keeps My Word, he will never see death.” 

52 The Jews said to Him, “Now we know that You have a demon! Abraham died, as did the prophets, yet you say, ‘If anyone keeps My Word, he will never taste death.’ 53 Are you greater than our father Abraham, who died? And the prophets died! 

Who do You make Yourself out to be?” 

54 Jesus answered, 

“If I glorify Myself, My Glory is nothing. It is My Father Who glorifies Me, of whom you say, ‘He is our God.’ 55 But you have not known Him. I know Him. If I were to say that I do not know Him, I would be a liar like you, but I do know Him and I keep His Word. 

56 Your father Abraham rejoiced that he would see My Day. He saw it and was glad.” 

57 So the Jews said to him, 

“You are not yet fifty years old, and have you seen Abraham?”

58 Jesus said to them, 

“Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I am.” 

 
59 So they picked up stones to throw at Him, but Jesus hid Himself and went out of the temple.




We know the Gospel of John and we know the 8th Chapter. Almost too well. 

Really? Why did John put these two events in the Life of Wonderful Jesus together? We read at the end of John's Gospel, Jesus' life was so involved with so many events happening that it was perpetually confusing.

And in the Second Century John was asked by Bishop Papias of Hierapolis if John approved of the other Gospels and if he found them to be conflicting. John replied, having lived with Jesus for all of his ministry, the other Gospels were indeed Gospel and to be believed. John was confirming many, many aspects of the day surrounded Jesus all the time.

Why did John place Jesus with the adulterous woman and with the stoning event? Jesus protects the woman and says she is free to go. Jesus displays being God and this chapter gives witness to John Chapter 20 - God's Sacrifice for the world.

Luke 10:27

He answered, 

"'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind'; and, 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'"

Why wasn't this Good Friday? Jesus clearly demonstrates He wants Life. And Jesus is capable of saving Himself. So why wasn't this Good Friday? To demonstrate Jesus is God. Because the High Priests have not told the Sanhedrin Council yet Jesus' death is for the sake of the Nation. They have not shamed themselves yet with a false trial, leaving fair judges uncalled.

And Jesus has just shown us - Love yourself - do justice for yourself - is as important as doing justice for a neighbor.

John has very correctly placed Jesus in this Chapter.

Abba, Father,

Blessed are You, Lord Father God,

Giving us this Good Shepherd.

Jesus the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down His Life for the sheep. Jesus teaches us Abundant Life.

Jesus restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for His Name's Sake.

This Good Shepherd cares for the sheep, sees the wolf coming and stays. He does not leave or forsake us. Jesus does not let the wolf snatch them nor scatters them. Jesus tells us, "I am the good shepherd. I know my own and my own know me."

Jesus shows us our Father. Jesus has compassion for us, because we are harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.

Scriptures tell us when a man loves the Lord, even his enemies are at peace with Him. Jesus says, I have other sheep that are not of this fold. I must bring them also, and they will listen to my voice. So there will be one flock, one shepherd.

He Himself bore our sins in His Body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By His Wounds you have been healed. For you were straying like sheep, but have now returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.

Now may the God of peace who brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, 

the Great Shepherd of the sheep, by the blood of the eternal covenant, equip you with everything good that you may do His Will, working in us that which is pleasing in His Sight, through Jesus Christ, to Whom be glory forever and ever.

Help us seek and find 

and bring,

to become,

 more Heaven

to this earth.

Let evil and practicing evil

depart 

far 

from us

and our children.

With Your Help

We will act justly

 and to love mercy

 and to walk humbly with You, our God.

Dwell in me,

Dwell in us,

Dwell in those we Love,

Help us to seek You first.

And we will finish well, 

in Jesus Christ.

our shower broke in the wall and 

flooded Edward's closet.

Now, my sinus headache has returned.

We are calling the good Plumber on Monday,

And are running concentrated Lysol

and giant fans towards the wall. 

The water in the carpet and padding is drying out outside.

We pray for rain for the Nation!

Luke 17:20-37 ~ Behold! The Kingdom of God is in the midst of you †

Luke 17:20-37

Being asked by the Pharisees when the Kingdom of God would come, He answered them, 

“The Kingdom of God is not coming in ways that can be observed, nor will they say, ‘Look, here it is!’ or ‘There!’ for 

Behold!

The Kingdom of God is in the midst of you.”

John chose to begin introducing our God of Love as God is the life, the light in mankind. 

John 1

The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. 

The true light, which gives light to everyone, was coming into the world. 

He was in the world, 

and the world was made through Him, yet the world did not know Him. 

He came to His own, and his own people did not receive Him. 

But to all who did receive Him, 

Who believed in His Name, 

He gave the right to become children of God, 

Who were born, 

not of blood 

nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, 

but of God. 

 And the Word 

became flesh and dwelt among us, 

and we have seen His Glory, 

Glory as of the only Son from the Father, 

full of grace and truth.

Matthew 4:14-16

He went and lived in Capernaum by the sea, 

in the territory of Zebulun and Naphtali

So that what was spoken by the prophet Isaiah might 

be fulfilled: 

 “The land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, 

 the way of the sea, 

beyond the Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles— 

The people dwelling in darkness have seen 

A Great Light,

 and 

for those dwelling in the region and shadow of death, 

 on them 

A Light has dawned.”

Proverbs 20:12 

The hearing ear and the seeing eye, 

the Lord has made them both.

Today, I was sorting through all the ways, new to this generation, telling us about the people coping with great, considerable and vast changes we have lived. 

On the National News, a great writer was asked what would she say to condense this century and give people understanding?  And her very enthusiastic composure suddenly has a gleam and a mist in her eyes.  She boldly began saying, this was a question she thought a lot about.  And as she spoke, she did something not done very frequently, yet making a memorable, caring experience, she began to weep.  And to work diligently to make herself heard through her emotions, saying, it has been a difficult century for almost everyone. And we have collectively been let down by the Establishment.  Causing.... anguish in our hearts.

I can't quote this exactly, but think we know the heart of the matter.

Then, with great reserves of resilience, she drew herself up and said in this new morning, we have voted in President Trump for the reason, he sees The Establishment has wandered off and failed. Collectively, we all hope for the Good Morning President Reagan gave us, to build, the dream to hope and establish the steps of American, with all the glow of glory, warming us to a higher and better Life. 

And then on to Local news, I Love Conroe, a dog missing for 2 and a half years, was found 2 states away. The family took a 12-hour drive to find their puppy had become a dog, who had been traumatized.   ... Rather like the people who commented on the post, insisting this dog was not the puppy! Having never seen the puppy, now dog, or the family.  

A very happy, kindly and calm lady explained, the dog was wondering, wondering until she said the word, "FROLIC!" And the now dog, fully, completely and with all great enthusiasm, saw past the children growing to teens, and understood the Magic Word FROLIC.  JOY to the world, DOGGIE!

Local Christian radio does a segment called, I'm not crying, you are crying.  About then everyone confessed! They are crying too!

Recently, we saw

astonishing airfare to Hawaii.

And while we were in Hawaii, there was a massive flood.

We even got an Amber Alert style phone warning about life and death.

The next day, the bay we were vacationing on looked like Chocolate milk. 

And we had read this can last for 2 weeks, but no one had died in the flood.

And I asked our Father for help.

The next day, the water went back to blue even though the bridge for the bay

had cranes and the storm had moved more sand to the river than the cranes had

since May, construction work. Blue water was a Thank You, God. Prayer.

While we were there, Edward had the Saturday, weekend, opportunity, to play Disc Golf with the locals. And during his game (sad, I remembered, the anniversary of the death of our infant daughter in 2008) the weather began to mist. So lightly, the water, seemed to float in the air.  And Edward came back and remarked, he had never seen something like that, maybe it was a gentle little cloud resting on the earth.  This last weekend, Saturday, Edward and I were home and had to go and watch the most gentle mist we had only seen once before. 

God is with us, wherever we are. 

All of us.

Help us seek and find 

and bring,

to become,

 more Heaven

to this earth.

And in Jesus - this Hope, 

Faith and Love - we will rise up believing Jesus.
