Psalm 19
The Heavens are telling the Glory of God;
and the firmament proclaims His handiwork.
Day to day pours forth speech,
and night to night declares knowledge.
There is no speech, nor are there words;
their voice is not heard;
and their words to the end of the world.
In them he has set a tent for the sun,
which comes forth like a bridegroom leaving his chamber,
and like a strong man runs its course with joy.
Its rising is from the end of the heavens,
and its circuit to the end of them;
and there is nothing hid from its heat.
The Law of the LORD is perfect,
reviving the soul;
the testimony of the LORD is sure,
making wise the simple;
the precepts of the LORD are right,
rejoicing the heart;
the commandment of the LORD is pure,
enlightening the eyes;
the fear of the LORD is clean,
enduring for ever;
the ordinances of the LORD are true,
and righteous altogether.
More to be desired are they than gold,
even much fine gold;
sweeter also than honey
and drippings of the honeycomb.
Moreover by them is thy servant warned;
in keeping them there is great reward.
But who can discern his errors?
Clear thou me from hidden faults.
Keep back thy servant also from presumptuous sins;
let them not have dominion over me!
Then I shall be blameless,
and innocent of great transgression.
Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart
be acceptable in thy sight,
O LORD, my rock and my redeemer.
I talked to my younger son today. They were offering on a house, and the bank did not want to close due to issues with the previous homeowner, who has, Jesus help him, cancer. The owner has been trying to sell the house for 2 years and was pleased with the offer. They went back and forth with the bank since January and had to have 2 appraisals and someone about the basement. And finally, the last week in March, the bank accepted the original offer because the appraisals agreed with the offer. And closed on the deed on May 1st.
Which made my son nervous and pleased about having their first child. Due the first of June. And they are in the house cleaning and preparing to move in. Moving everything with everything in boxes. Nothing easily found. And thinking about being prospective parents after having more testing to find that everything is ok. But several weeks of waiting to be seen.
And they have an apartment in the house with a separate door, where my older son is going to live. Probably because it is an old farmhouse with different portions of the house. He is an attorney who will work from the office, which is in the house as well. My older son has decided he will try his hand at raising... Chickens! And everyone is so tremendously relieved to have something easy to think about.
The house is an old farmhouse modified with a newer addition added on the back with high ceilings. I looked at the 50 photos on the listing and asked him what he would do with the other apartment or workshop behind the detached garage. He said there isn't one. I said there is and it has something like a good front door to enter it with a huge window of the backyard. A month later he said, yes he saw it on the 3rd trip out to the house, they will add in a kitchen and might rent that studio portion out as well. Maybe a farmhand had lived in there. And all of them are excited at the prospect. With a chicken coop already. And in this area, my older son thinks he will put in some raised beds for vegetables.
And we gleefully talked about babies and sleep studies and how many times they get up at night. They have decided to have a bassinet in their room. And slowly set up the nursery decorated with all types of stuffed animals sent by delighted, happy, thrilled grandparents and surrounded with Husky Dog things.
And my son said, what will we do with the nursery? I said I can see you both in sleeping bags letting the baby sleep in the nursery planned carefully. Silence. Yes, we will! Of course they will, they always go and camp.
And chickens don't all have to be the same breed; then you can have green eggs, blue eggs and brown eggs. Without roosters to wake you up at night and morning and early evening.
Life is funny. No one wanted the Farmhouse with the modern addition and higher ceilings and quirks from having been added on to. No sidewalk. Old front door there and new door over here. And these two sons of mine and my son's family with the little arriving baby, cannot believe how blessed they are and are in total Joy.
My son is super thrilled. The fireplace stops where the second, faux ceiling was when high ceilings were unfashionable and people capped off the higher ceiling to look more modern. And being in the building business, my son will finish out the old rock fireplace to the real ceiling and be so pleased.
The sump pump in the basement isn't working too well, I am trying to convince this builder son to connect this to cisterns to water the summer lawn. He says his plate is just about full for right now. Imagine that!
Two living rooms sit side by side. One will have a pocket door where a law library will be completed. And a baby will run from one family to the next. And they will eventually have matching front doors, as one is on the side of the house, and probably a porch connecting them instead of just a sidewalk. Probably a sidewalk too. The front yard has mature shrubs at the street and they will connect the backyard to the front yard so the Husky brother and sister dogs will have plenty of room to go dig up something they shouldn't. And then run back and forth thinking life is really very good.
