Psalm 30
I will extol you, O Lord, for you have drawn me up
and have not let my foes rejoice over me.
2 O Lord my God, I cried to you for help,
and you have healed me.
3 O Lord, you have brought up my soul from Sheol;
you restored me to life from among those who go down to the pit.
4 Sing praises to the Lord, O you his saints,
and give thanks to his holy name.
5 For his anger is but for a moment,
and his favor is for a lifetime.
Weeping may tarry for the night,
but joy comes with the morning.
6 As for me, I said in my prosperity,
“I shall never be moved.”
7 By your favor, O Lord,
you made my mountain stand strong;
you hid your face;
I was dismayed.
8 To you, O Lord, I cry,
and to the Lord I plead for mercy:
9 “What profit is there in my death,
if I go down to the pit?
Will the dust praise you?
Will it tell of your faithfulness?
10 Hear, O Lord, and be merciful to me!
O Lord, be my helper!”
11 You have turned for me my mourning into dancing;
you have loosed my sackcloth
and clothed me with gladness,
12 that my glory may sing your praise and not be silent.
O Lord my God, I will give thanks to you forever!
The Scriptures are Living and Active.
History, according to Moses and Jeremiah - not so much about Accuracy. And sometimes not factual for ego aggrandizing. Moses and Jeremiah said Judah would claim slavery in Egypt was all very, terribly inaccurate. And indeed this happened about the time of Nebuchadnezzar II.
Scripture is about conflict, human frailty, harsh circumstance, difficult life, poor choices and enemies.
And ... God's thoughts on this.
Jesus was known to include many, many, many, many, many, many ninnies. Take for example... MARY. I'm positive Mary was simply thrilled to have it record she 'left hastily' to see Elizabeth. Mary was so comfortable with Jesus and His Talk, she sent all the sons in to get him home - Quickly.
David named his son after Nathan the prophet. I'm SURE, David hoped Chronicles would include Nathan, lambs, Bathsheba, war, Baths and babies. And Ziklag - oh please tell all the Nation, the world about David's band of thugs, running mercenary raids, his family getting kidnapped, the thug army wanted to kill David for their families. Many of the thugs wanted the women and children gone for convenience and probably to start again. So David was in fine company. Fit for applying for King.
So who was Mary's enemy? Public disharmony. She might have faced this before.
Who was David's enemy? Public image. Political dislike. Killer kings and kidnappers. Bad parenting.
Who was Abraham's enemy? He had a few local kings and battles for life and death. Sarah was kidnapped - Politically. All Abraham wanted to do was - help God to fulfill His Plan... What could go wrong?
Winston Churchill was known to say upon occasion, "Many, many, many, many, many, many Ninnies." Why would God Himself have chosen Ninnies? Isaac was going to "unbless" one of his own sons and Abraham's Grandson. Not like Jacob who included even more, his two grandsons by Joseph. Interesting - he was going to bless more - in the face of lying and deceitful sons - Jacob was going to bless more, but being a "Ninny" who married anyone and over-populated the place - Jacob refused Joseph to get the birth order right of only two grandsons.
God is Busy. Busy interweaving all things for Good for those who Love the Lord and Work according to His Purpose.
Why?
Jesus, it is written, knew not to allow Himself to the hands of men.
Jesus is the only One who was not a ninny.
Proverbs 3
14 I have counsel and sound wisdom;
I have insight; I have strength.
15 By me kings reign,
and rulers decree what is just;
16 by me princes rule,
and nobles, all who govern justly.a
17 I love those who love me,
and those who seek me diligently find me.
18 Riches and honor are with me,
enduring wealth and righteousness.
19 My fruit is better than gold, even fine gold,
and my yield than choice silver.
20 I walk in the way of righteousness,
in the paths of justice,
21 granting an inheritance to those who love me,
and filling their treasuries.
Why would God Himself the Almighty have men, Disciples, who constantly questioned God and Jesus and not really asking Jesus? Worriers! Why didn't God chose Warriors?
God works with all who have fallen and fall short of the Glory of God.
Why not begin and end the Scriptures around the four Gospels?
Proverbs 8
30 Then I was beside him, like a master workman,
and I was daily ise delight,
rejoicing before him always,
31 rejoicing in his inhabited world
and delighting in the children of man.
Jesus has said we are flowers of the field. Very transitory. And then Jesus spoke of seeds. What will we do with this garden?
Jesus said we were dust. We are dust ... For the wind passeth over it, and it is gone. Jesus said He would breathe on dust and dry bones, to find Life. Dust will not be creating Heaven. We need God's Word.
It is our lives to work to the Will of God and His Good Pleasure. Jesus said better a living dog than a dead lion. We are the Potter's work. We are meant to be transitory. We are meant to ask questions. We are meant to fail and think and try and believe.
The Prodigal's Father ran to His Son. We are meant to be temporary as Creation Waits for the Revealing of the sons of mankind. Jesus said Life is to reveal Heart.
