John 15:1-8
I Am the true Vine,
and
My Father is the Vinedresser.
Every branch in me that does not bear fruit He takes away, and every branch that does bear fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit.
3 Already you are clean because of the Word that I have spoken to you.
4 Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the Vine, neither can you, unless you abide in mMe.
5 I Am the Vine; you are the branches.
Whoever abides in Me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing.
6 If anyone does not abide in Me,
he is thrown away like a branch and withers; and the branches are gathered, thrown into the fire, and burned.
7 If you abide in Me, and My Words abide in you,
ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.
By this My Father is Glorified,
that you bear much fruit
and
so prove to be My Disciples.
Thus says the Lord GOD:
“I Myself will take a sprig from the lofty top
of the cedar
and will set it out.
I will break off from the topmost
of its young twigs a tender one,
and
I Myself will plant it
on a high and lofty mountain.
Proverbs 4:1-5
Hear, O sons, a father's instruction, and be attentive, that you may gain insight, 2 for I give you good precepts; do not forsake my teaching.
3 When I was a son with my father,
tender,
the only one in the sight of my mother,
He taught me and said to me,
“Let your heart hold fast my words;
keep my commandments, and live.
Get wisdom; get insight;
do not forget, and do not turn away from the words of my mouth.
2 Samuel 12
And the Lord sent Nathan to David.
He came to him and said to him, “There were two men in a certain city, the one rich and the other poor. 2 The rich man had very many flocks and herds, 3 but the poor man had nothing but one little ewe lamb, which he had bought. And he brought it up, and it grew up with him and with his children. It used to eat of his morsel and drink from his cup and lie in his arms, and it was like a daughter to him. 4 Now there came a traveler to the rich man, and he was unwilling to take one of his own flock or herd to prepare for the guest who had come to him, but he took the poor man's lamb and prepared it to eat, for the man who had come to him.”
1 Chronicles 3:1-9
These are the sons of David
who were born to him in Hebron: the firstborn, Amnon, by Ahinoam the Jezreelite; the second, Daniel, by Abigail the Carmelite, 2 the third, Absalom, whose mother was Maacah, the daughter of Talmai, king of Geshur; the fourth, Adonijah, whose mother was Haggith; 3 the fifth, Shephatiah, by Abital; the sixth, Ithream, by his wife Eglah; 4 six were born to him in Hebron, where he reigned for seven years and six months. And he reigned thirty-three years in Jerusalem. 5 These were born to him in Jerusalem: Shimea, Shobab, Nathan and Solomon, four by Bath-shua, the daughter of Ammiel; 6 then Ibhar, Elishama, Eliphelet, 7 Nogah, Nepheg, Japhia, 8 Elishama, Eliada, and Eliphelet, nine. 9 All these were David's sons,
besides the sons of the concubines, and Tamar was their sister.
Jesus said to Simon Peter,
“Simon, son of John, do you love (agape) me more than these?”
He said to him, “Yes, Lord; you know that I
(philo) love you.”
He said to him,
“Feed my lambs.”
16 He said to him a second time,
“Simon, son of John, do you love (agape) me?”
He said to him, “Yes, Lord; you know that I love (philo) you.”
He said to him,
“Tend my sheep.”
17 He said to him the third time,
“Simon, son of John, do you love (agape) me?”
Peter was grieved because He said to him the third time,
“Do you love me?”
And he said to Him, “Lord, you know everything;
you know that I love (agape) you.”
Jesus said to him,
“Feed my sheep!"
