Luke 7:1-10
After He had finished all his sayings in the hearing of the people, he entered Capernaum.
2 Now a centurion had a servant who was sick and at the point of death, who was highly valued by him. 3 When the centurion heard about Jesus, he sent to Him elders of the Jews, asking Him to come and heal his servant.
4 And when they came to Jesus, they pleaded with Him earnestly, saying, “He is worthy to have you do this for him, 5 for he loves our nation, and he is the one who built us our synagogue.”
6 And Jesus went with them. When He was not far from the house, the centurion sent friends, saying to Him, “Lord, do not trouble yourself, for I am not worthy to have you come under my roof. 7 Therefore I did not presume to come to you. But say the word, and let my servant be healed. 8 For I too am a man set under authority, with soldiers under me: and I say to one, ‘Go,’ and he goes; and to another, ‘Come,’ and he comes; and to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.”
9 When Jesus heard these things, He marveled at him, and turning to the crowd that followed him, said, “I tell you, not even in Israel have I found such faith.”
10 And when those who had been sent returned to the house, they found the servant well.

Matthew 11:30
For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
Yesterday, we thought about Mark writing the Words of God. Mark and Luke are both part of the Light Jesus shines, not the original Disciples. And really we could add in from the "Saints of God Hymn" and I mean to be one too. This is part when Jesus said, "Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed." And for us this is a wonderful part of the Good News. We blend into Luke and Mark. Jesus Christ making the Word of God better for us in 2026.
Like the Centurion, we see Jesus, His Love and Power, from a distance and yet just as hopefully.
Luke speaks the language of worthy. The dear and glorious physician has seen many births and just as many deaths as a doctor of medicine. Luke considers Life. Peter and Mark discussed Mark's Gospel, and Peter, who announced to Jesus he was unworthy immediately was in personal prophecy, does not bring up being worthy in Mark's Gospel. Matthew who had been living as Jew as Roman tax collector, wants to discuss worthy. Seeing Jesus as living supremely. And the Scriptures acknowledge seeing mankind, Jesus Christ is Worthy.
Good for Mother's Day. I have been battling pink eye and this solved, but today came back with a painful vengeance. (We now think this has become a draining plugged tear duct, please ask the Lord God to heal me and end the pain quickly!) And we traveled around the city today seeking an outdoor place to have luncheon. Usually in Church for Mother's Day, we passed a cemetery, and saw a tremendously busy cemetery during Mother's Day, for the first time. We were so moved by the love and honor upon the faces of the families in cemeteries on Mother's Day. Men helping and comforting. Real devotion seen from the street looking at the people arriving to visit their loved ones.
Another interesting change for Mother's Day, the restaurant we generally go to for Mother's Day, had plenty of parking. Very unusual. And we hopped out with gladness to find - this restaurant was a packed as never seen before. Why? This year, Mom and Dad and cousin and aunt all rode together. Not just local visitors, but far flung. And increase in airport travel, even as the Senate was dumping the TSA and plunging American airports into line hell of determined poor governance. Loyalty. Pleasure. Love. Mothers carrying balloons, children carrying balloons and many flower bouquets. Joyful faces.
One child, about 7 years old, was leaving the restaurant and said to his extended family, "I've never had a faster meal, that was too quick." His grownups laughed and did agree. Not your usual commentary from someone 7 years old.
We are living an unacknowledged uptick of family interest, joy and loyalty. Multigenerational housing. Love, Loyalty and Joy! Truthfully, we know family division and see 1/3 of adult children decide to leave their family. But the other 2/3rds are filled with Joy. There is no such virtue in family life as mercy, loyalty and forgiveness. Full honest disclosure, Family loyalty has a component of loss in this post plague era. But worthy is the life of forgiveness and not allowing pain to fill us when this happens. And this we must preach to ourselves.
Life is always teaching us more about Life in God's Paths.
in Richardson, Louisiana
almost everyone has a 1 in their tombstone day of Heavenly departure.
Meaning if Born in August, Died in July or September.
Or Born in year 28, then died on 27 or 29.
One.
My mother passed on and I said, OH NO, there isn't a one!
I was wrong, she died on the 7th and her birthday is the 18th.
This is an amazing Cemetery and our cousins invited us to be
buried here.
My Wilson great grandparents died on the same day,
decades apart.
We think this is a sign of their love and is
morbidly romantic.
I commend to you our sister Phoebe, a servant of the church at Cenchreae, 2 that you may welcome her in the Lord in a way worthy of the saints,
and help her in whatever she may need from you,
for she has been a patron of many

The Light continues to shine
I commend to you our
