John 15:1-12 ~ Love each other as I have loved you.


John 15:1-12

“I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. 2 He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful. 3 You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you. 4 Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.

5 “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. 6 If you do not remain in me, you are like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned. 7 If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. 8 This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples.

9 “As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love. 10 If you keep my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commands and remain in his love. 11 I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete. 12 My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you.


When the Lord's Purpose is more than we could understand, we rely on God to be God. Mighty God of All. And we bring to all circumstances the basic direction of Jesus Christ. And when we allow God to help us, we are found. In any and all times.

The Wisdom of God is Higher than we are.


Isaiah 5:7
The vineyard of the LORD Almighty is the nation of Israel, and the people of Judah are the vines he delighted in. And he looked for justice, but saw bloodshed; for righteousness, but heard cries of distress.

Isaiah 42:6
“I am the Lord; I have called you in righteousness;
I will take you by the hand and keep you;
I will give you as a covenant for the people,
a light for the nations

Isaiah 49:6
He says:
“It is too light a thing that you should be my servant
to raise up the tribes of Jacob
and to bring back the preserved of Israel;
I will make you as a light for the nations,
that my salvation may reach to the end of the earth.”





Proverbs 21:15
When justice is done, it is a joy to the righteous but terror to evildoers.

Amos 5:24 
But let justice roll down like waters, and righteousness like an ever-flowing stream.

Learn to do good; seek justice, correct oppression; bring justice to the fatherless, 
plead the widow's cause.

Jesus the Exact Nature of God.

Hebrews 1:3
He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power.

And all Scriptures refer to God as, 'he'. When we quote the Scriptures, we add, "His Glory." As proper Worship.

The events of the day are boggling. And so is this year.  Isaiah was misunderstood even as the Gospels unfold. The Nations coming to His Brightness, knocked at Herod's door to see The King. The Word of God tells us we will know in part and imperfectly. And this leaves room for the working of the Holy Spirit. And in the New Covenant, God allows us to do our best and allow God to do far Better. Recently, and not oddly for the year, I was involved in a discussion of suffering. Who has not suffered this year? We won't always completely understand the Works of God, and God allows us to be His Child.



Isaiah is as challenging today, as yesterday for the Magi. Isaiah allows us to broaden where we think we are or should be. To see ourselves, and the times, with a new seat at the Banquet God provides for us. Just as our soul finds Infinite God our Father.

And in giving the preface Scriptures of Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow,  we are nourished to receive the Words of God.

The Word of God places us above temporary concerns. We Rise to God.






Isaiah 5

Let me sing for my beloved
my love song concerning his vineyard:
My beloved had a vineyard
on a very fertile hill.
2 He dug it and cleared it of stones,
and planted it with choice vines;
he built a watchtower in the midst of it,
and hewed out a wine vat in it;
and he looked for it to yield grapes,
but it yielded wild grapes.





3 And now, O inhabitants of Jerusalem
and men of Judah,
judge between me and my vineyard.
4 What more was there to do for my vineyard,
that I have not done in it?
When I looked for it to yield grapes,
why did it yield wild grapes?


5 And now I will tell you
what I will do to my vineyard.
I will remove its hedge,
and it shall be devoured;
I will break down its wall,
and it shall be trampled down.
6 I will make it a waste;
it shall not be pruned or hoed,
and briers and thorns shall grow up;
I will also command the clouds
that they rain no rain upon it.





7 For the vineyard of the Lord of hosts
is the house of Israel,
and the men of Judah
are his pleasant planting;
and he looked for justice,
but behold, bloodshed


for righteousness,
but behold, an outcry!









8 Woe to those who join house to house,
who add field to field,
until there is no more room,
and you are made to dwell alone
in the midst of the land.



9 The Lord of hosts has sworn in my hearing:
“Surely many houses shall be desolate,
large and beautiful houses, without inhabitant.
10 For ten acres of vineyard shall yield but one bath,
and a homer of seed shall yield but an ephah.”
11 Woe to those who rise early in the morning,
that they may run after strong drink,
who tarry late into the evening
as wine inflames them!
12 They have lyre and harp,
tambourine and flute and wine at their feasts,
but they do not regard 


the deeds of the Lord,
or see the work of His Hands.


13 Therefore my people go into exile
for lack of knowledge;
their honored men go hungry,
and their multitude is parched with thirst.
14 Therefore Sheol has enlarged its appetite
and opened its mouth beyond measure,
and the nobility of Jerusalem and her multitude will go down,
her revelers and he who exults in her.

15 Man is humbled, and each one is brought low,
and the eyes of the haughty are brought low.



16 But the Lord of hosts is exalted in justice

and the Holy God shows himself holy in righteousness.
17 Then shall the lambs graze as in their pasture,
and nomads shall eat among the ruins of the rich.







18 Woe to those who draw iniquity with cords of falsehood,
who draw sin as with cart ropes,


19 who say: “Let him be quick,
let him speed his work
that we may see it;



let the counsel of the Holy One of Israel draw near,
and let it come, that we may know it!”


20 Woe to those who call evil good
and good evil,
who put darkness for light
and light for darkness,
who put bitter for sweet
and sweet for bitter!


21 Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes,
and shrewd in their own sight!
22 Woe to those who are heroes at drinking wine,
and valiant men in mixing strong drink,
23 who acquit the guilty for a bribe,


and deprive the innocent of his right!



24 Therefore, as the tongue of fire devours the stubble,
and as dry grass sinks down in the flame,
so their root will be as rottenness,
and their blossom go up like dust;
for they have rejected the law of the Lord of hosts,
and have despised the word of the Holy One of Israel.
25 Therefore the anger of the Lord was kindled against his people,
and he stretched out his hand against them and struck them,
and the mountains quaked;
and their corpses were as refuse
in the midst of the streets.


For all this his anger has not turned away,
and his hand is stretched out still.





26 He will raise a signal for nations far away,
and whistle for them from the ends of the earth;







and behold, quickly, speedily they come!
27 None is weary, none stumbles,
none slumbers or sleeps,
not a waistband is loose,
not a sandal strap broken;
28 their arrows are sharp,
all their bows bent,
their horses' hoofs seem like flint,
and their wheels like the whirlwind.



29 Their roaring is like a lion,
like young lions they roar;
they growl and seize their prey;
they carry it off, and none can rescue.
30 They will growl over it on that day,
like the growling of the sea.

And if one looks to the land,
behold, darkness and distress;
and the light is darkened by its clouds.

Hebrews 11:6 ~ he who comes to God must believe that He is





Hebrews 11:6

Without faith it is impossible to please Him, 
for he who comes to God must believe that He is 
and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him







We have spent some time talking about the Exodus. History follows Scriptures, like the traumatic events after Bubonic Plague. It's not peaceful protests. Really it's more about opportunity, equal rights and a hope and future. You wouldn't think the Exodus would include foreigners. The Children of Israel had been burned by the non-children of Israel.


To consider the Promises of God, Scripture answers the questions.

When Israel was divided in the end of the Exodus, who would receive the portion of Abraham and Sarah? Hebron.

Joshua 14:6
Now the people of Judah approached Joshua at Gilgal, and Caleb son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite said to him, “You know what the Lord said to Moses the man of God at Kadesh Barnea about you and me.

Then Joshua blessed Caleb son of Jephunneh and gave him Hebron as his inheritance.

So Hebron has belonged to Caleb son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite ever since, because he followed the Lord, the God of Israel, wholeheartedly.




Psalm 139 and Ephesians 3 tells us we are named by God long ago and far away, millenniums before we were born.

Caleb [Cā'leb]—bold, impetuous (also an animal name, meaning “dog”).

Caleb, son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite

Jephunneh is called a Kenizzite (Numbers 32:12, Joshua 14:6,14).

The Kenizzites are listed (Genesis 15:19) as one of the nations who lived in the land of Canaan, at the time that God covenanted with Abraham giving Israel to his descendants forever (Genesis 17:8).

Caleb is a Goy.







In Other Words, Caleb is a Goy. Someone not included in the Promises of God. A foreigner, a stranger. An outsider. Unclean. The uncircumcised - in heart and soul additionally.  Plainly, a Goy. A Gentile. One who would be expected to ask for scraps, like the dogs Jesus was told about in Tyre or Sidon. God adores the unlikely to go far in the Holy Spirit and Finish Well.

Luke 4:26-27
Yet Elijah was not sent to any of them, but to the widow of Zarephath in Sidon. And there were many lepers in Israel in the time of Elisha the prophet. Yet not one of them was cleansed--only Naaman the Syrian.


Abba, our Father God, Mighty God to All evidently greatly loves the extreme long shot horse.


Ezekiel 26 tells us the Island of Tyre Sidon would become mainland
  because of someone like Alexander the Great.

"Although Caleb was not an Israelite by birth, he was “an Israelite indeed.” He was one of the chief spies sent out by Moses. He was courageous and persevered when the other spies became discouraged. He was invincible in driving out giants, completely devoted to God and vigorous in old age. Six times it is recorded of Caleb, “he hath fully followed the Lord.”

His consecration was thorough. What magnificent adverbs are used to describe Caleb. He followed faithfully, wholly, fully. He never lowered his standards, but was perpetually wholehearted.

His courage was unfaltering. Giants did not disturb Caleb nor did those dastards who were ready to stone him.

His request was answered. To Caleb, whose life was woven of one piece throughout, reward crowned his faith and faithfulness. Through autumn winds and premonitions of snow, he brought forth fruit in his old age. When we come to the record of Caleb’s personal inheritance in the land of Canaan we find him at eighty years of age asking of Joshua, “Now therefore give me this mountain.” Caleb was a man of altitudes. He was not content with the average or the commonplace. He never thought in terms of fences or walled cities. It was the heights for Caleb, and although the mountain he wanted was filled with hostile Anakims, he refused defeat and claimed his inheritance. At long last a worthy recompense came to this noble man for “to patient faith the prize is sure.” "

Then Caleb silenced the people before Moses and said, “We should go up and take possession of the land, for we can certainly do it.

But because my servant Caleb has a different spirit and follows me wholeheartedly, I will bring him into the land he went to, and his descendants will inherit it.

Not one of you will enter the land I swore with uplifted hand to make your home, except Caleb son of Jephunneh and Joshua son of Nun.

Deuteronomy 1:36
except Caleb son of Jephunneh. He will see it, and I will give him and his descendants the land he set his feet on, because he followed the Lord wholeheartedly.

We ask You to Dwell in us. Dwell in those we Love in the Name of Jesus Christ, we ask.
We want to see more Heaven on earth.
Help us to put Your first.

To live as Calab and in seeking good, to find God.

Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.

Caleb did such marvelous things, seeing Good and wanting to Live in Goodness and Provide Goodness.

At the right time, Father God gave Caleb to be an instrument of His Peace.

20 Now may the God of peace, who through the blood of the eternal covenant brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep, 21 equip you with everything good for doing his will, and may he work in us what is pleasing to him, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.

We ask in the Name of Jesus to have our divisions heal.
To find the framework of Love and family holds firm.
To be loved and treasured by God and find family loving us as we are.
