Luke 2 ~ The favor of God

Luke 2

In those days a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be registered. 2 This was the first registration when Quirinius was governor of Syria. 3 And all went to be registered, each to his own town.

4 And Joseph also went up from Galilee, from the town of Nazareth, to Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and lineage of David, 5 to be registered with Mary, his betrothed, who was with child.

6 And while they were there, the time came for her to give birth. 7 And she gave birth to her firstborn son and wrapped him in swaddling cloths and laid him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the inn.

8 And in the same region there were shepherds out in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. 9 And an angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were filled with great fear. 10 And the angel said to them, “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. 11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. 12 And this will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in swaddling cloths and lying in a manger.” 13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying,

14
“Glory to God in the highest,
and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased!”

15 When the angels went away from them into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let us go over to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has made known to us.”

16 And they went with haste and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby lying in a manger. 17 And when they saw it, they made known the saying that had been told them concerning this child. 18 And all who heard it wondered at what the shepherds told them. 19 But Mary treasured up all these things, pondering them in her heart. 20 And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all they had heard and seen, as it had been told them.

21 And at the end of eight days, when he was circumcised, he was called Jesus, the name given by the angel before he was conceived in the womb.

22 And when the time came for their purification according to the Law of Moses, they brought him up to Jerusalem to present him to the Lord 23 (as it is written in the Law of the Lord, “Every male who first opens the womb shall be called holy to the Lord”) 24 and to offer a sacrifice according to what is said in the Law of the Lord, “a pair of turtledoves, or two young pigeons.”

5 Now there was a man in Jerusalem, whose name was Simeon, and this man was righteous and devout, waiting for the consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit was upon him. 26 And it had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not see death before he had seen the Lord's Christ. 27 And he came in the Spirit into the temple, and when the parents brought in the child Jesus, to do for him according to the custom of the Law, 28 he took him up in his arms and blessed God and said,

29
“Lord, now you are letting your servant depart in peace,
according to your word;
30
for my eyes have seen your salvation
31
that you have prepared in the presence of all peoples,
32
a light for revelation to the Gentiles,
and for glory to your people Israel.”

33 And his father and his mother marveled at what was said about him.

34 And Simeon blessed them and said to Mary his mother, “Behold, this child is appointed for the fall and rising of many in Israel, and for a sign that is opposed 35 (and a sword will pierce through your own soul also), so that thoughts from many hearts may be revealed.”

36 And there was a prophetess, Anna, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Asher. She was advanced in years, having lived with her husband seven years from when she was a virgin, 37 and then as a widow until she was eighty-four. She did not depart from the temple, worshiping with fasting and prayer night and day. 38 And coming up at that very hour she began to give thanks to God and to speak of him to all who were waiting for the redemption of Jerusalem.

39 And when they had performed everything according to the Law of the Lord, they returned into Galilee, to their own town of Nazareth. 40 And the child grew and became strong, filled with wisdom. And the favor of God was upon him.

41 Now his parents went to Jerusalem every year at the Feast of the Passover.

42 And when he was twelve years old, they went up according to custom. 43 And when the feast was ended, as they were returning, the boy Jesus stayed behind in Jerusalem. His parents did not know it, 44 but supposing him to be in the group they went a day's journey, but then they began to search for him among their relatives and acquaintances, 45 and when they did not find him, they returned to Jerusalem, searching for him.

46 After three days they found him in the temple, sitting among the teachers, listening to them and asking them questions.

47 And all who heard him were amazed at his understanding and his answers. 48 And when his parents saw him, they were astonished. And his mother said to him, “Son, why have you treated us so? Behold, your father and I have been searching for you in great distress.” 49 And he said to them, “Why were you looking for me? Did you not know that I must be in my Father's house?”

50 And they did not understand the saying that he spoke to them.

And he went down with them and came to Nazareth and was submissive to them. And his mother treasured up all these things in her heart.

52 And Jesus increased in wisdom and in stature and in favor with God and man.

Joseph and Mary found the reality of God their Son as overwhelming, even understanding  Mary, Joseph and the infant Jesus had to move fast to Egypt from the Wise Men.

And the people of the Exodus saw alllll of Father God's miraculous, astonishing, daily wonders, and said, "We will die in the wilderness, can Father God spread a table today for us to eat and be nourished!?!"

This Jesus is Larger than the Holy Family could deal with daily. V 50

And we read in the Gospels, eventually the family was seamless and seen as a whole family.

How did they deal with their doubts and feelings of being Overwhelmed.

Psalm 100

This Family was grateful and went with a Positive Attitude.
Looking for ways to see how God had made them and given to them.

Attending Worship Services.

This Holy Family sang.  And they prayed for their generations to know Father God. They showed eventually the work of the law is written on their hearts.

They spoke like the man bringing his son to be healed to Jesus, "I believe, help my unbelief." For all have sinned. To see the Holy Family is to know they were human and forgiveness was called for. God's kindness leads the Holy Family to repentance. Ultimately seeing Jesus' praise is not from man but from God.

What was the kindness of Jesus? Beautiful mankind has the Love of The Lord God Almighty, Father of those who believe Jesus is Lord, His Father and ours, maker of all things.

Love the Lord and Love. Honor Love, see Love, be Love.

To belong to Jesus as fully as His Mother, Foster Father and Brothers. The generations of His blood Family - Loyal to Jesus. To us, belong the adoption, the glory, the covenants, the giving of the law, the worship, and the promises.

A wreath is The Circle of unending Love. God's steadfast, enduring Love.

Abba, Father God,

In Jesus, You have granted to us Your precious and very great promises, so that through Your Promised Word we may become partakers of the divine nature of You, Father God.

The Promises of You, find our Yes in Jesus.

I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.

For the Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord bestows favor and honor. No good thing does he withhold from those who walk uprightly.

This is the bread that comes down from heaven, so that one may eat of it and not die. I am the living bread that came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever. And the bread that I will give for the life of the world is my flesh.

God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.

Our Father in Heaven, hallowed be Your Name. Your kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

We lift cares to You, our Loved ones and the people You have given us. The Churches Honoring Jesus and His Word, our work places, state, nation and people of the World calling You, Father.

Please pray for me, I've had an upset stomach and been ill for two days.

Dwell in us. Dwell in those we Love. Help us to Seek You First. And we will finish well in You.

Thank You. Amen  Amen to Jesus for His Glory!

Matthew 10:1-7 ~ The Kingdom of Heaven is at hand

Matthew 10:1-7

And he called to him his twelve disciples and gave them authority over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal every disease and every affliction.

The names of the twelve apostles are these: first, Simon, who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother; James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother; Philip and Bartholomew; Thomas and Matthew the tax collector; James the son of Alphaeus, and Thaddaeus; Simon the Zealot, and Judas Iscariot, who betrayed him.

These twelve Jesus sent out, instructing them, “Go nowhere among the Gentiles and enter no town of the Samaritans,  but go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.

And proclaim as you go, saying, ‘The kingdom of heaven is at hand.’

Don't we always think of the Disciples together when Jesus was doing His Ministry?

Jesus points this out in the very short passage, Jesus sends the 12  out to do healing. Jesus isn't here long to do His ministry, and He does not insist they sit at His feet. Jesus Christ was and is like Medical School, see one, do one. The Christ of God, Jesus, didn't send out the Disciples after months of preparation, He sent them out to Proclaim Heaven is coming to earth.

And that makes sense, when Jesus was speaking to the person God had sent Jesus to see that day, Jesus is rarely interrupted by a Disciple asking a question or commenting.

Jesus didn't micromanage.
Jesus fully had Faith, the Message of the Good News was in God's Hands and would change the world. He saw a new Heaven and a new earth.

Jesus is Living the Lord's Prayer.
Abba, Holy Name, Kingdom of Heaven on earth
Give us this Day
Daily Bread
Forgiveness
no temptation
end evil
Miracles and Blessings Abound, Thine is the Kingdom, Power and Glory.

Discipleship is to follow Jesus.

If Jesus was living my life, what would I do to please Jesus.

Given His Word for me to do, how will I do my life best.

Jesus did ordinary things for many years. Although, Mary had quite a few unbelievable successes. Discipleship is to have encouragement, strengthening, nurture in God to do His Will. This is not cheap grace. This is working His Word for our lives.

Ministry is telling the Good News. Ministry is sharing how Jesus has helped you. Ministry is sharing the Good News in other's life. When you give Agape Love, this is your life experience.

My mother had Alzheimer's and spent quite a few years not living Kingdom of Heaven is at hand. However, now is the season and time to remember my mother's better years.

One of her absolute favorite phrases in the Bible was and is:

Ecclesiastes 11:1
Cast your bread upon the water and it will return to you.

As a child, this would provide hilarity to friends my age visiting. What does this mean? Feed the ducks? Soggy dinner bread?

Turns out Solomon and Isaiah considered this.

 Isaiah 32:20
Blessed are those who sow beside abundant waters, who let the ox and donkey range freely.

Cast your bread on the waters: for you shall find it after many days.

 Isaiah 32:20
Blessed are ye that sow beside all waters, that send forth thither the feet of the ox and the ass.

Proverbs 19:17
Kindness to the poor is a loan to the LORD, and He will repay the lender.

Which brings us to the gift she gave us in 2016 to re-plaster the pool at our house.

2016 - My pool was recently re-plastered. Wow, this was needed. This was a gift to us, given by someone who cares and is family. My mom. And because we got a very, very good quote we didn't get all the information we needed. It was all easy going.

However, I had shared the Good News with the man having a new baby, who had fixed our pool a few months back. He'd found out this was being quoted and wanted to quote.  I had questions about pool plastering. And the man who told me he just couldn't meet the price we got, came over and told us we found good subcontractors. And he explained about the start-up done on new pools.

This was in the dire to not be informed area. And this man made his way to our house to explain to us the complete and lengthy process of putting together a pool after new plaster.

Without this man having a new baby, with whom I'd shared the Good News of Jesus, we wouldn't have known what to do. It could have very well been an entirely ruined job. Instead, sharing the Lord saved the Plaster.

Ecclesiastes 11:1
Cast your bread upon the water and it will return to you.

People want to be told about Jesus.

Jesus wants us to be the people who fulfill our vows. Listen and obey the Word of God given to us. People believe when we give our word - this is what we do.

The World actually hungers to know Jesus.

And then they want to know if Jesus will still love them in their brokenness. In the doubts and in their failures. Does Jesus really never leave or abandon us. Jesus is that Good.

The circle is Love, without beginning, without end. Father God, Jesus and Holy Spirit.

Mark 3:34
Then he looked at those seated in a circle around him and said,
“Here are my mother and my brothers!

This week was:

Ecclesiastes 11:1
Cast your bread upon the water and it will return to you.

My mother was 88 years old. We are a long-lived family, but suddenly the people we had known for decades had mostly passed on. None of us had fully thought about this until this all started happening.  We even discussed not having a Memorial Service because who would come? We live outside of Dallas. And then, we found a few more and a few more.

Mother's 1956 Church Membership at St. Michael's and All Angels in Dallas will see her for the last time, December 11th, as she entered into God's Kingdom. Soon we would discuss the flower arrangements. My mother had been a 3rd generation flower person, or in the 1970s, we'd have said to make more clarity, someone interested in flowers and botany. (Not a flower child!)

The Church put me in touch with the Florist they use. And he said to me, "Anne Anderson? Anne Anderson, who attended St. Michael's???" Yes, I did agree. "Your MOM?" Yes.  "What happened to Anne?!"  I had to pause. Dallas has countless Florists.  Did he know my mom? "Yes, she ordered for All the Ebby Events! She Loved Flowers!!!" I said, he had this exactly right, my mom did and did and surely loves Flowers. "Right, but what Happened to ANNE?"

We shared about my mom. My mother loved to be fun and be funny. And this worked when she was well. She loved to have as many parties as anyone I ever knew.  And flowers were always going to be part of this.

This last week I got the most huge amount of Gifted Flower's I've ever had.

When Alexander and his girlfriend arrived to give this to me, they asked if I'd ever seen a bigger Poinsettia. And I had to smile, yes, in Pennsylvania, our cat had kittens and the baby cats liked to nap in the bottom of the Poinsettia tree or bush or shrub - this.

This Poinsettia gift is as large as a table seating 6 people.

And the Florist said to me, "What flowers would your mom like?" She would like to have 2 huge Poinsettias the Church can use for the Christmas Season! And she would. The kindly Florist didn't find any because the Pandemic has affected their supply chain. And the next day none. The next day, yes, 3 huge Poinsettias. Mother's Memory is giving the Church 3 Gigantic Poinsettias. Mother worked on the Altar Guild, and we would set up Poinsettias in Advent!

Ecclesiastes 11:1
Cast your bread upon the water and it will return to you.

Mother had been so upset to find the kittens liked to nap in the huge Poinsettia pot. That tree never suffered any baby cat damage.

These are called, Pearly Everlastings.

Abba, Father,

Thank You for Christmas. Having the Holy Spirit each day is Joy, Peace, Love, Patience, Goodness, Steadfast and Self Control. Thank You.

Bless us to dwell with You daily.
Bless us to Seek You first.
Bless us to finish well.

Help me to be doing God’s will and be Your brother and sister and mother.

Bless this Nation with peace
Let peace flow for Your Beloved.
Jesus Christ saves the world.

Merry Christmas!
In the Highest Name of Jesus, Thank God. Amen.

My people will live in peaceful dwelling-places, in secure homes,
in undisturbed places of rest.

About Me

My photo
Email registry at bottom.! “All Scripture is inspired by God” (2 Timothy 3:16). Men “moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God” (2 Peter 1:21). The Holy Spirit carried men along, moving and guiding them as they wrote in their own words what God wanted them to say. The Bible is unique; comprised of 80 separate books, & written over a period of thousands of years by more than 40 writers with one Author, spanning the centuries, different states of peace & war & different situations in life. The Bible answers the question: of who is God, who is man & what can their relationship can be. Although the Bible was written on perishable material and copied by hand for many centuries, its accuracy is not in doubt, proven by Dead Sea Scrolls and papyrus from 2,000 years. The Bible has survived persecution & criticism to be read with great interest in each generation. The Bible gives witness to the greatness of the Creator. A loving Father concerned for all of his creation. With each verse of the bible witnessing to God is love and the multitude & vastness of His attributes. The Bible was written for you. <><
