Matthew 13:54-56, Mark 6:2-4 ~ carpenter

You have to remember Scriptures
fully give the Foster Father Nod to Joseph
for Father's Day.

(We had a Blog Technical Delay due to Internet and Hot Spot Phone misplacement!)

Going the High Way
High Road
and leaving a footprint
Mark of High Way

Matthew 13:54-56, Mark 6:2-4

Matthew 13:54-56

54 Coming to His hometown, He taught the people in their synagogue, and they were astonished. “Where did this man get such wisdom and miraculous powers?” they asked. 55 “Isn’t this the carpenter’s son? Isn’t His mother’s name Mary, and aren’t His brothers James, Joseph, Simon, and Judas?
56 Aren’t all His sisters with us as well?
Where then did this man get all these things?”

Mark 6:2-4

2 When the Sabbath came, He began to teach in the synagogue, and many who heard Him were astonished. “Where did this man get these ideas?” they asked. “What is this wisdom He has been given? And how can He perform such miracles? 3 Isn’t this the carpenter, the son of Mary and the brother of James, Joses, Judas, and Simon? Aren’t His sisters here with us as well?” And they took offense at Him. 4 Then Jesus said to them,
“Only in his hometown, among his relatives,
and in his own household is a prophet without honor.”

Last Post was Psalm 81!

Psalm 81

Sing aloud to God our strength;
shout for joy to the God of Jacob!

2 Raise a song; sound the tambourine,
the sweet lyre with the harp.

3 Blow the trumpet at the new moon,at the full moon, on our feast day.

4 For it is a statute for Israel,
a rule [just decree] of the God of Jacob.

5 He made it a decree in Joseph when he went out over [against] the land of Egypt.I hear a language I had not known:6 “I relieved your [his; also next line] shoulder of the burden;
your hands were freed from the basket.

7 In distress you called,
and I delivered you;
I answered you in the secret place of thunder;
I tested you at the waters of Meribah [quarreling].
Sela

Joseph has left some pretty large footprints. This isn't a man who hasn't had some very real and present type questions about being family.

The critics love to say all the 2,000 year old messages left in Peter's house plaster walls don't indicate literacy. We've pretty well debunked the idiocy of the Disciples with Papyrus 46 300 intact Chapters of Scripture housed in The University of Michigan, circa first or 2nd century A.D.

Joseph isn't a man without means to make decisions. Really. He isn't without some large choices.

Placement is part of Joseph.  Matthew 1, first Book of the New Testament, Chapter 1, assures us Joseph's lineage has left him with some plans. Joseph is a catch of a husband in Judea.  His reaction to Mary's pregnancy isn't a warm fuzzy. This is a man of planning.  And he isn't a homegrown shepherd dedicated to Nazareth. Wouldn't you think God would have wanted Joseph to be a Shepherd like David?  Didn't happen.  Joseph is a man who will travel across the Sea to make his way for his family.

Joseph isn't a man who takes the easier path.

He takes the scandal known through the Temple of Mary's kinsman Zechariah and the Angel, and brings Jesus to be dedicated.

This is a man who seriously looked at divorce and capital punishment.

Mary gives her lineage, in the 3rd Book of the New Testament in the 3rd, Chapter of Luke 3
Placement for women has suddenly increased. Even if a Greek Physician has to be the one to explain this.  We are told, by placement, to look to Joseph.

Look at the times:

Isaiah 7:10-25

10 Again the Lord spoke to Ahaz: 11 “Ask a sign of the Lord your God; let it be deep as Sheol or high as heaven.” 12 But Ahaz said, “I will not ask, and I will not put the Lord to the test.”

13 And he said, “Hear then, O house of David! Is it too little for you to weary men, that you weary my God also? 14 Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign. Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel. 15 He shall eat curds and honey when he knows how to refuse the evil and choose the good. 16 For before the boy knows how to refuse the evil and choose the good, the land whose two kings you dread will be deserted. 17 The Lord will bring upon you and upon your people and upon your father's house such days as have not come since the day that Ephraim departed from Judah—the king of Assyria!”

18 In that day the Lord will whistle for the fly that is at the end of the streams of Egypt, and for the bee that is in the land of Assyria. 19 And they will all come and settle in the steep ravines, and in the clefts of the rocks, and on all the thornbushes, and on all the pastures.

20 In that day the Lord will shave with a razor that is hired beyond the River—with the king of Assyria—the head and the hair of the feet, and it will sweep away the beard also.

21 In that day a man will keep alive a young cow and two sheep, 22 and because of the abundance of milk that they give, he will eat curds, for everyone who is left in the land will eat curds and honey.

23 In that day every place where there used to be a thousand vines, worth a thousand shekels of silver, will become briers and thorns. 24 With bow and arrows a man will come there, for all the land will be briers and thorns. 25 And as for all the hills that used to be hoed with a hoe, you will not come there for fear of briers and thorns, but they will become a place where cattle are let loose and where sheep tread.

Consider Isaiah 7 as prophecy on Joseph

Luke 2

Mary, we heard from, 46 And Mary said, “My soul magnifies the Lord, 47 and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior, 48 for he has looked on the humble estate of his servant. For behold, from now on all generations will call me blessed; 49 for he who is mighty has done great things for me, and holy is his name. 50 And his mercy is for those who fear him from generation to generation.

51 He has shown strength with his arm; he has scattered the proud in the thoughts of their hearts; 52 he has brought down the mighty from their thrones and exalted those of humble estate; 53 he has filled the hungry with good things, and the rich he has sent away empty. 54 He has helped his servant Israel, in remembrance of his mercy, 55 as he spoke to our fathers, to Abraham and to his offspring forever.”

What Mary has to say hasn't left Joseph a lot of joy.  She doesn't look meek or mild.

Given the parental unity after the Annunciation.  You can see the total lack of cohesive sympathy.  Cutting to the movie, "My Cousin Vinnie," someone is bound to be stomping an angry foot, yelling about biological clocks.

Brings us perfectly to consider Joseph, Son of David, Father Award for the Millenniums. For Good Reason.

Isaiah 7:

Joseph is not wanting to hear about Angel Gabriel and does not want anyone to put God to the Test. Mary is now Sheol, dead by stoning or Heaven.

O House of David, do you feel weary as the family hears about THIS? Immanuel, God with us??? Evil or good? Curds and honey in prosperity? New economy.  Two kings. Herod and Claudius, Emperor of Rome. Not the correct timing to put this free for all on the House of David.  Depart trouble, like Ephraim, to Judea. Yesterday!

This type of Trouble near Pilate kills people like the Assyrian Empire. The Roman Empire has increased Judea when archaeology shows population change is incredibly rare. 6,000 military people taking pastures and cities before the additional trade foreigners show up. Trade people are numerous. New trades, new prosperity: The House of David is not shining up well. Will it be bows and arrows, briers and thorns?

Current Headlines for Judea could have read:

Get a Job with the Roman Empire for the smart men to collect taxes. The Temple will like you, it's the same Herod employer.

Are you part of the Roman Empire and exporting goods? Or are you the sad zealot?

Don't put your head up too high in Religious Fervor, Pilate killed men during a Holy Pilgrimage Festival.

It's great to be an old family in Judea, as long as you aren't seen Angels!

Joseph, son of Jacob, Left a Marker
Joseph with the many colors coat.

On a statue of Amenhotep III at Kom el Hetan - Amenhotep’s funeral statue has a base and on the base of the statue is "Joseph-el". Joseph of God. Referring to Joseph who predicted the huge famine, and became Visor to Pharaoh. Joseph Messenger of God.

Joseph, Foster Father of Jesus, left a marker

Matthew 1:16

Joseph, son of Jacob, the husband of Mary, of whom Jesus was born, Who is called Christ

Luke 4:22

All spoke well of Him and marveled at the gracious words that came from His Lips:
"Isn't this the son of Joseph"

Galatians 5:22
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness

Romans 5:1
Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ

John 16:33
I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.

John 20:19
On the evening of that first day of the week, when the disciples were together, with the doors locked for fear of the Jewish leaders, Jesus came and stood among them and said, "Peace be with you!"

2 Corinthians 1:2
Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Luke 4:22

All spoke well of Him and marveled at the gracious words that came from His Lips:
"Isn't this the son of Joseph"

Mark 6:3

Isn't this the carpenter? Isn't this Mary's son and
the brother of James, Joseph, Jude and Simon? Aren't his sisters here
with us?

The Scriptures are alive. We feel like we see through a mirror dimly in these matters of faith. By the Plan of God. Faith is unseen. Walking by faith. Since the Huge Day of Ascension. Great is the Mystery of Faith. A day to God is thousands of years. Today, the Disciples have seen Jesus. Today, they learn they won't have all the answers. A Huge Responsibility is on God now. Today the Disciples are trusted with the Salvation of the world for many, many generations.

Abba, Father God,

Find our souls to be worthy of You dwelling in us.
Help us to seek You first.
Bless our families with Love and Peace.
Encourage us in Your Plan daily, please, in Jesus Christ.
We will finish well in Jesus Christ.

John 17:20

My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message,

 John 17:6
I have revealed you to those whom you gave me out of the world. They were yours; you gave them to me and they have obeyed your Word.

To be filled with Your Love, and see Your Glory.
The Wonders of Your Way.

Your Scriptures and in Your Power, every one of us will bow at the Name of Jesus.

Jesus, You appeared in the Power of the Grace of God offering Salvation to us all.
In every Nation. For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.
And this is Your free gift to us.

Father, even on Father's Day
You want all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.
Faith calls us to Trust in You.

You have planned eternal life, we will know You the only true God,
and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.

We have a hope in You, there will be a resurrection of both the just and the unjust.

Freedom in Jesus.
Father God will render to each one of us according to our life, choices and faith.
You will give eternal life; but for those who are self-seeking and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, there will not be Heaven.

There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven
given higher than Jesus.

We pray as we face eternity we have told with great effect the name of Jesus - that our families in Heaven not only include our blood families - but include the nobility - the true nobility is those who look to Father God knowing He Loves us. And we will be for us in Jesus Christ.

 We pray for our Nation.
We pray for the healing of God's Good Creation after the Pandemic.
We pray for our families to have Peace.

Thank You, Father God,
Please continue with Your Mercy!!!

For healing and for guidance we ask
in Jesus.
Amen.

Matthew 4:19 "
“Come, follow Me,” Jesus said, “and I will make you fishers of men.”

Daniel 4:3
How great are His signs, and how mighty His wonders!
His kingdom is an eternal kingdom

Isaiah 49:8
This is what the LORD says: "In the time of my favor I will answer you,
and in the day of salvation I will help you;
I will keep you and will make you to be a covenant for the people,
to restore the land and to reassign its desolate inheritances"

Isaiah 49:10
They will neither hunger nor thirst, nor will the desert heat
or the sun beat down on them.
He who has compassion on them will guide them and lead them
 beside springs of water.

Psalm 81 ~ The Lord your God

Mark 10:15

I tell you the truth, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God
like a little child will never enter it.

Psalm 81

Sing aloud to God our strength;
shout for joy to the God of Jacob!

2 Raise a song; sound the tambourine,
the sweet lyre with the harp.

3 Blow the trumpet at the new moon,at the full moon, on our feast day.

4 For it is a statute for Israel,
a rule [just decree] of the God of Jacob.

5 He made it a decree in Joseph when he went out over [against] the land of Egypt.I hear a language I had not known:6 “I relieved your [his; also next line] shoulder of the burden;
your hands were freed from the basket.

7 In distress you called, and I delivered you;I answered you in the secret place of thunder;
I tested you at the waters of Meribah [quarreling].
Selah

8 Hear, O my people, while I admonish you! O Israel, if you would but listen to me! 9 There shall be no strange god among you;
you shall not bow down to a foreign god.

I am the Lord your God,who brought you up out of the land of Egypt. Open your mouth wide, and I will fill it.

11 “But my people did not listen to my voice;Israel would not submit to me.12 So I gave them over to their stubborn hearts,
to follow their own counsels.

13 Oh, that my people would listen to me, that Israel would walk in my ways!14 I would soon subdue their enemies
and turn my hand against their foes.

15 Those who hate the Lord would cringe toward him,
and their fate would last forever.

16 But he would feed you [Israel; Hebrew him] with the finest of the wheat and with honey from the rock I would satisfy you.”
In the secret heart.

1 Sing aloud to God our strength;
shout for joy to the God of Jacob!

2 Raise a song; sound the tambourine,
the sweet lyre with the harp.

Is the glass 1/2 full or empty?

In this Psalm we are given a statute, a rule, a just decree and seemingly just the hope to just open our mouths to God's blessings.

It is both a Psalm of hope and an appeal to us to have more faith in our souls and actions.

The Scriptures are neither 1/2 full or 1/2 empty. They are the Word of the Lord. A statute is a formal written enactment of a legislative authority that governs a state, city, or county.

Except in the Scriptures it is much more vital, living and important! The law isn't the 10 commandments every word coming from His mouth, it is:

2 Timothy 3:16
All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness that the man of God may be competent, equipped for every good work.

More important than empty or full. It's the LORD who doesn't change. Times are difficult during this intense year. Even in Deuteronomy - Christians don't find very exciting, Deuteronomy 5 is about Father God wanting to willingly bless.

Just like this Psalm. Prayer isn't the dry need to cultivate a needy Deity.

What we usually pray to God is not that His will be done, but that He approves ours.
~Helga Bergold Gross

Prayer is about opening ourselves to the willingness of God.
Just as the LORD tested the Children of Israel at Meribah As long as there are tests, there will be prayer in schools. Prayer is a conversation!

What is the factor of variation seeming to exist in this Psalm? It is within your soul and my soul. It is the expectation God hears our prayer conversations. That this life is meaningful and the works and words accomplished in them matter to Him. Greatly.

Psalm 126 is a great example of this. It tells us of great blessings to come and the desire for more blessings. And ends with:

He who goes out weeping,
bearing the seed for sowing,
shall come home with shouts of joy,
bringing his sheaves with him.

Shouts of joy are required!

Elijah kept praying with hope
for rain.

Abba, Father,

Father God, each day help us to cultivate the garden you've given us for our lives.

Dwell in us to see and understand
what You give us for the Day.
Help this Day be more Heaven on earth
and our efforts please You.

Help us to work in Your Light.

Help us to weed out what is not holy in Your eyes, even when we cherish that weed.

Help us to see, diligently, Your blessings even when it is rain.
Let us be children of Light, even when we work with fertilizer.

And in the reading of Your Word, help us also to be do-ers,
let our lives reflect Your work in our garden.

Bless our garden, like a mustard seed, which we took and planted in the garden
You've given us.

Let it grow, the work of our hands and became a tree, so the birds of the air perched in its branches may sing to Your glory.

Help us not to cultivate the garden for our use alone,
but to be blessings to others with a generous heart.

Father God, teach us to let our words, our time, our talent be the meditation of the heart,
You hope for.

May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight,
O LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer.

In the holiest name of Jesus Christ we pray
for our families,
the urgent prayer
and the constant prayer of Hope, Faith and
Love.

Thank You Jesus. Thank You Abba. Amen and Amen.

Acts 4:24 ~ Sovereign Lord.... Weather Prayers

Yellowstone, closed. Houses flooded.
Roads washed away in raging rivers.

Texas and the Southwest in Drought.

Can we pray for rain or sunshine?

Acts 4:24

When they heard this, they raised their voices together in prayer to God.

"Sovereign Lord," they said, "you made the heaven and the earth and the sea, and everything in them."

Matthew 18:20

For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.”

Prayer

Tradition, Bravery, Hope, Miracles, Endurance, Overcoming, Strength, Optimism. Joy.

The Latin phrase, ‘Lex Orandi Lex Credendi’
‘The Law of Praying is the Law of Believing!"

What does your history tell you about wild weather?

In 1975,6,7 we lived through winter storms in Pennsylvania for months in historic 150 year weather of snow and temperatures at 20' below zero in a Blizzard.

I've lived through two summers in 1978 and 1979 in Dallas, Texas when temperatures topped 112' for over 15 days and that winter was black ice storms.

We've lived through a child dying, stillborn, in Hurricane Ike 2008. And Hurricane, various brownouts, for a few weeks.

A historic tri-county Texas fire in 2011, bringing volunteers from Alaska, Washington and California as well as Georgia.

2018 sudden wind shear, toppling a larger Magnolia, on a sunny day.

Snowvid Texas 2020 with 11', no electricity for 4 days. That was the worst weather, to think and, later, dream,  you'd die from cold.

Never having lived through stuck in a Hurricane due to bridge closure, or sudden Tornado.

The law of praying is the law of believing!

In the 1662 English Book of Common Prayer, a prayer petition:

“Send us, we beseech thee, in this our necessity, such moderate rain and showers, that we may receive the fruits of the earth to our comfort, and thy honor.”

1978 An Australian Prayer Book, and the petition read:

“Look in mercy on your people and hear our prayer for those whose lives and livelihood are threatened by drought .”

And this:

“Send us, we pray, in this time of need, rain to water the earth, that we may receive its produce to strengthen and sustain us .”

Lutherans record this prayer:

Creator God, bless us with water poured down from the sky. As surely as your word stands forever, so let the rain fall. Bring to life the water courses needed and surrounding terrain.1999

Catholic prayer:

O God, in Whom we live move and have our being, grant us sufficient rain, and sun, so that, being supplied with what sustains us in this present life, we may seek more confidently what sustains us for eternity.

Jewish Prayer:

"We praise You, Eternal God -- God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, Sarah, Rebecca, Leah and Rachel. You are the Eternal God, who causes the wind to blow and the rain to fall -- for a blessing and not for a curse, for life and not for death, for plenty and not for scarcity. That as important as it is to pray for rain, it is also important to learn the lesson God has given us this summer: We need to learn to use our water resources intelligently, knowing that God really does provide enough water for us to thrive." We say Amen to that and here present the rich outpouring from diverse traditions for answered our request for prayers for rain.

Baptist Prayer:

Our Lord, we are worried about the effects of this extended drought and flood. We come to You because You are bountiful and merciful to Your creation. We realize the limitations of our own technology and acknowledge that You are all-powerful. You are able to provide rain in abundance. You teach us in Your Word that the fervent prayers of righteous people prevail with You, so we ask that You forgive us of our disregard of Your laws and earnestly pray in the Highest Name of Jesus Christ that You would intervene. Amen.

Orthodox Prayer:

Heavenly Father, We know your word is true. You promised you would not allow us to be tempted above what we are able to bear, so in spite of the lack, or flood, of moisture on our earth, we know you will provide. You also admonished us to be thankful in all things. While we are not thankful for the drought, or flood, we are thankful for your many other bountiful blessings. We are thankful that you will give us the strength and wisdom to be wise in our use of the water supply we have until the heavens open and satisfy the thirst of our dry land. Thank you, Father, Amen.

Mennonite Prayer:

Our God and God of our ancestors:

Remember Abraham, his heart poured out to You like water.
You blessed him, as a tree planted near water;
You saved him when he went through fire and water.

For Abraham's sake, do not withhold water.
Remember Isaac, his birth foretold while angels drank cool water.

At Moriah his blood was almost spilled like water;
In the desert he dug deep to find springs of water.

For Isaac's sake, grant the gift of water.

Remember Jacob, who with his staff forded Jordan's water.

Gallantly he showed his love beside a well of water;
He struggled, victoriously, with a creature of fire and water.

For Jacob's sake, do not withhold water.

Remember Moses, whose basket rocked in reeds and water,
In Midian he gave his sheep ample grass and water;
He struck the rock, and then the tribes drank sweet water.
For Moses' sake, grant the gift of water.
Remember Israel's tribes; You brought them through water.
For their sake brackish marsh became sweet water;
Their descendants' blood was spilled for You like water.

For the people of Israel's sake, grant the gift of water.
You are the Lord our God
who causes the wind to blow and the rain to fall.

For a blessing, not for a curse.

For life, not for death.

For abundance, not for famine.
We ask in the Highest Name of Jesus, Your Love and Mercy. Amen.

Methodist Prayer:

Prayer for rain: In your name, we pray, Amen

Dear Lord, please rain down fresh water upon us, our water ways and our crops. Send a cleansing rain down upon us and help end this drought. Loving Lord and Heavenly Father, You alone are good and You alone richly provide for us.

Thank You for Your steadfast love and gracious provision to us and to all Your creation.

You faithfully provide us richly, so many blessings to enjoy. But Lord, we come to You now, in this time of drought in this lovely Country,  and we ask You to send gentle and abundant rain and sunshine to the earth, which has become dry, thirsty and in need of the nourishing waters from heaven. Look with tenderness and mercy down upon  our plight, we pray. Lord, send us rain. Open the windows of heaven and send to your creation  the sweet rainfall that we so desperately need...and nourish and revive our land, and the animals and the plants which you created.   Lord, help us take care of this beautiful world  through gentle, abundant rain and Light.  We will give You all the praise and glory due to Your Holy Name, Jesus, Amen.

1 Corinthians 12

“Jesus is Lord” is said in the Holy Spirit.

Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; and there are varieties of service,
but the same Lord; and there are varieties of activities,
but it is the same God who empowers them all in everyone.

To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good.
For to one is given through the Spirit the utterance of wisdom,
and to another the utterance of knowledge according to the same Spirit,
to another faith by the same Spirit,
to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit,
to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy,
to another the ability to distinguish between spirits,
to another various kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues.

All these are empowered by one and the same Spirit,
who apportions to each one individually as he wills.

For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ.

For in one Spirit we were all baptized into one body—Jews or Greeks, slaves or free—and all were made to drink of one Spirit.

Abba, Father,

Your Nature is God of Love. God of Encouragement. God of Hope.
God wants to save the world in Jesus Christ.

Dwell in those we Love.
Help us always to seek You First.
In Jesus Christ, we will finish well.

Asking Your Help and Blessing
on Marriages and Families.

Your Beloved, pray for Ukraine, times are difficult and hopeful.

We pray the violence and financial need will stop here and in Your Good Creation.

In Jesus Christ, We pray the horrible heat waves and floods will end.

We ask for the return of good weather.

And ask Your Love and Mercy on the
many difficult challenges of healing from the Pandemic.

And we pray the end of clickbait on
weird topics and
conversations.

Father, we lift up the Pandemic prayers we all know
in our lives. Your Mercy.

We receive everything You desire for us this day. And the days to come.
In Jesus. Amen.

To You be the Glory.
Amen in Jesus, Amen.

Email registry at bottom.! “All Scripture is inspired by God” (2 Timothy 3:16). Men “moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God” (2 Peter 1:21). The Holy Spirit carried men along, moving and guiding them as they wrote in their own words what God wanted them to say. The Bible is unique; comprised of 80 separate books, & written over a period of thousands of years by more than 40 writers with one Author, spanning the centuries, different states of peace & war & different situations in life. The Bible answers the question: of who is God, who is man & what can their relationship can be. Although the Bible was written on perishable material and copied by hand for many centuries, its accuracy is not in doubt, proven by Dead Sea Scrolls and papyrus from 2,000 years. The Bible has survived persecution & criticism to be read with great interest in each generation. The Bible gives witness to the greatness of the Creator. A loving Father concerned for all of his creation. With each verse of the bible witnessing to God is love and the multitude & vastness of His attributes. The Bible was written for you. <><
