† The Book of James 5:11-18 ~ Persevered

John 2 records the Joy of Jesus returning home for a wedding. The Wedding of Cana

Nazareth, Mary survived their basic Watchfulness.

The Book of

James 5:11-18

James, the Brother of Jesus!

As you know, we count as blessed those who have persevered.  You have heard of Job’s perseverance and have seen what the Lord finally brought about. The Lord is full of compassion and mercy.

12 Above all, my brothers and sisters, do not swear—not by heaven or by earth or by anything else. All you need to say is a simple “Yes” or “No.” Otherwise you will be condemned.

13 Is anyone among you in trouble? Let them pray. Is anyone happy? Let them sing songs of praise. 14 Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord.

15 And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up. If they have sinned, they will be forgiven.

16 Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed.

The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective. 17 Elijah was a human being, even as we are. He prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the land for three and a half years. 18 Again he prayed, and the heavens gave rain, and the earth produced its crops.

Praying for Healing. I'm for this. Betcha you are too. I read about a year ago, or maybe six months ago, about 80% of the deer population has Covid. Either in recovery, antibodies or died. It could be the fires we see, from the drought, are to strengthen the animals living in the wild. And this would bring some reason for the drought we see in the USA and in Europe. Australia and New Zealand in their last summer season. Making it good to know their winters, this year, have not been extremely cold. We could look at the Southern Hemisphere during 2019 and find the flu season almost evaporated with masks and hand sanitizers.  The Southern Hemisphere is providing us with information we should watch.

Healing for every system we know is in need or prayer or healing. Society. Friends. Family. News. Entertainment. Healthcare, making this word meaningful. Weather. Mass Transit instead of carcinogen, hazmat cleanup LED lightbulbs in the wastewater of trash recycling.

Everything we pray for is largely in the Hands of God. He is moving. God is working. God has His Plan. Beyond all question, without question, great indeed, by common confession. And confessedly, without controversy. And great, we confess, is the mystery of godliness.

It's easier to picture God taking care of all these cares, with a world that isn't overwhelming to Him.

Isaiah 43:1
But now thus says the Lord, He who created you, O Jacob,
He who formed you, O Israel:
Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name
you are Mine

2 Timothy 1:2
To Timothy, my dear son: Grace, mercy and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord.

Jeremiah 23:23-24
Am I a God at hand, declares the Lord, and not a God far away? Can a man hide himself in secret places so that I cannot see him? Declares the Lord. Do I not fill heaven and earth? declares the Lord.

Jeremiah 32:17
Ah, Lord God! It is you who have made the heavens and the earth by your great power and by your outstretched arm!
Nothing is too hard for you.

 Psalm 139:7-12
Where shall I go from your Spirit? Or where shall I flee from your presence? If I ascend to heaven, you are there!

If I make my bed in Sheol, you are there!

If I take the wings of the morning and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, even there your hand shall lead me,
and your right hand shall hold me.

If I say, “Surely the darkness shall cover me, and the light about me be night,”

 Psalm 90:2
Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever you had formed the earth and the world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God.

 John 3:16
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.

Healing! Isn't too hard for the Lord.

Matthew 4:24
So his fame spread throughout all Syria, and they brought him all the sick, those afflicted with various diseases and pains,
those oppressed by demons,
those having seizures, and paralytics,
and he healed them.

 Matthew 12:15
God's Chosen Servant Jesus, aware of this, withdrew from there. And many followed him, and he healed them all

Luke 4:40
Now when the sun was setting, all those who had any
who were sick with various diseases brought them to him,
and he laid his hands on every one of them and healed them.

Luke 6:19
And all the crowd sought to touch Him, for power came out from Him
and healed them all.

John 6
After this Jesus went away to the other side
 of the Sea of Galilee,
which is the Sea of Tiberias.

2And a large crowd was following Him,
because they saw the signs that
He was doing on the sick.

John 6:29

Jesus told them, "This is the only work God wants from you.
Believe in the one He has Sent."

Galatians 4:21-5:1 ~ children of promise

Galatians 4:21-5:1

21 Tell me, you who want to be under the law, are you not aware of what the law says?  For it is written that Abraham had two sons, one by the slave woman and the other by the free woman. 23 His son by the slave woman was born in the ordinary way; but his son by the free woman was born as the result of a promise.

24 These things may be taken figuratively, for the women represent two covenants. One covenant is from Mount Sinai and bears children who are to be slaves: This is Hagar. 25 Now Hagar stands for Mount Sinai in Arabia and corresponds to the present city of Jerusalem, because she is in slavery with her children. 26 But the Jerusalem that is above is free, and she is our mother. 27 For it is written:
   "Be glad, O barren woman,
      who bears no children;
   break forth and cry aloud,
      you who have no labor pains;
because more are the children of the desolate woman
than of her who has a husband."

28 Now you, brothers, like Isaac, are children of promise. 29 At that time the son born in the ordinary way persecuted the son born by the power of the Spirit. It is the same now. 30   But what does the Scripture say? "Get rid of the slave woman and her son, for the slave woman's son will never share in the inheritance with the free woman's son." 31 Therefore, brothers, we are not children of the slave woman, but of the free woman.

Galatians 5

It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.

Paul stood in the crossroads of time
and used an analogy of the Old Covenant to the New Covenant.

When we believe our Scriptures, the family of Abraham set in motion the problems similar to divorce, re-marriage (Abraham is recorded as marrying after Sarah’s death), favoritism, limits of life, poverty, power, legitimacy, holiness and envy carried into generations.

Consider how so many feel about the Mountain of the Temple.
Why? Why did this happen?

We are supposed to follow the Lord when life is too complex and the choices are too few or too many. My son recently said his religion professor said her favorite chapter in the Bible is Judges 19 – the man treats his concubine terribly and she is killed by the tribe of Benjamin. My son asked me why this terrible passage in the Bible occurs.  Just what you want to be asked out of the blue. But the Lord gave me a good answer for my child, my college student. I said it is like finding out your dad raped a 12-year-old. It is like finding out your child tortured and killed a small animal, you are supposed to put aside the consequences of your pain and do the right thing for the Lord.

Abraham had good intentions to create for himself a son, but he divided his inheritance. And God told Abraham not to share. God was begged to bless Ishmael.  And out of the havoc created by one man, God plan still worked. Not without some feeling as seeds cast among thorns.

It was a mess.

How was man to continue?
The children of Ishmael and the children of Noah, cast aside.  Once God gave us His Son, we were to look to the Son of God to know we are all adopted into the Family of God. No matter if the generations and the situations of life cast you into slavery of sin. You are worthy in the Holy Spirit.

You are not a child under law, you are blessed to be a child of the Holy Spirit.  You are chosen, special, loved.  Because you are a child of God, you rise above the circumstances of your family sin.  Like Paul, you find your joy instead of any other emotion. You rise above our personal limitations and sin. When you are a child of the new covenant, the story of Abraham, Isaac, and all the saints is your story.  You are a child of Promise, you are a child of the Most High God.

Luke 12:32

Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father
has been pleased to give you
the kingdom.

Abba, Holy Father,

Help us each day see You and Life around us with Gratitude.
Strengthen and Guide us to be on the Path
You have for our hope and future with You.

Help fill us each day with Your Mercy and Goodness.
Dwell in those we love and in us.
Fill those we Love. Fill the people You give us. And our Nation. Our employments, our schools, our communities. Our Nation trusting in You. The Nations around the world trusting in You. Please bless us and fill us with more Heaven on earth.

Matthew 25:1-13 ~ Kingdom of Heaven

Matthew 25:1-13

1 “Then the kingdom of heaven will be like ten virgins who took their lamps and went to meet the bridegroom. 2 Five of them were foolish, and five were wise. 3 For when the foolish took their lamps, they took no oil with them, 4 but the wise took flasks of oil with their lamps. 5 As the bridegroom was delayed, they all became drowsy and slept.

6 But at midnight there was a cry, ‘Here is the bridegroom! Come out to meet him.’ 7 Then all those virgins rose and trimmed their lamps.

8 And the foolish said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.’

9 But the wise answered, saying, ‘Since there will not be enough for us and for you, go rather to the dealers and buy for yourselves.’

10 And while they were going to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the marriage feast, and the door was shut. 11 Afterward the other virgins came also, saying, ‘Lord, lord, open to us.’

12 But he answered, ‘Truly, I say to you, I do not know you.’

13 Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour.

~ The Kingdom of Heaven

If you are around the Christian crowd for any length of time, you hear about "God-incidences." The idea being God has a plan and there are not coincidences, but being part of God's plan and instead having an affirmation. Like the story of Abraham's oldest servant...

Genesis 24:1,2
And the Lord had blessed Abraham in all things. 2 And Abraham said to his servant, the oldest of his household, who had charge of all that he had..

7 The Lord, the God of heaven, who took me from my father's house and from the land of my kindred, and who spoke to me and swore to me, ‘To your offspring I will give this land,’ he will send his angel before you, and you shall take a wife for my son from there.

Abraham's faithful servant, was also a person of faith..

12 And he said, “O Lord, God of my master Abraham, please grant me success today and show steadfast love to my master Abraham. 13 Behold, I am standing by the spring of water, and the daughters of the men of the city are coming out to draw water. 14 Let the young woman to whom I shall say, ‘Please let down your jar that I may drink,’ and who shall say, ‘Drink, and I will water your camels’—let her be the one whom you have appointed for your servant Isaac. By this I shall know that you have shown steadfast love to my master.”

A bible passage to say, God-incident instead of coincidence. The love story of Rebekah & Isaac. Genesis 24

2010, August
This week, I've had two God-incidences - my husband asked me to go to the store for one item - that hasn't happened in a long, long time - it isn't the way we organize our lives. So the car radio is on and the subject is a woman interviewed on our Christian radio, which usually plays songs. The subject is coping with a child's death at the 2nd Anniversary. Next month will be our daughter Isabelle's 2nd birthday - the day she arrived in Heaven.

The interviewed mother is asked what was the most difficult part to overcome? Her answer was great. She said her surviving daughter was crying and weeping her heart out on the stairs one day. Her young daughter asked her mom, "Why does it have to be this hard? Why?" And the mom said, "Life is hard, but because Jesus did the hardest part, we can have hope." Perfect.

The next few days, I clicked on an upbeat Houston (my city) Christian Blog, it is a ray of 'Sonshine'. Usually. And the subject was helping a family cope with the loss of a child. What the positive steps were to continue to help the bereaved. This was a difficult one... because the guest writer is a mom who lost her child - a month ago. It made me remember, things are just a blur at first. I felt sorry for the mom trying to teach others to cope with something so deep, at such a hard time in her life. Almost as if, "well that is done now... a month ago... tell us how it went for you..."

The Kingdom of Heaven ~

The Kingdom of Heaven isn't just about being prepared in your soul. Although so many of the grieving stories are about sudden death. Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour.

Preparing for the Kingdom of Heaven is about how we feel when others, we love, pass on before us. How much oil will you have in your lamp?

When you have experienced grief, like the loss of a child, the loss of a parent to suicide - people feel comfortable to tell you about their grief. Americans. are. not. comfortable. with. grief. Americans cling to the belief that if you have grief and tragedy - you've earned it. Let me tell you the hard part about grief - it is lonely and it hurts for a long time.

Jesus wept.

If you Google overcoming grief , you will find, and people will tell you in the face of raw - fresh grief - you will never recover from this..... pages and pages of people chatting about how they are not going to recover. Encouraging isn't it? Public opinion is.. this is unending. That is so counter-productive. Loss eases over time. We can do what no loved one would ever hope we would do - to cling to our loss. No, strive for the future - the eternal gift of God.

1 Thessalonians 4:13
But we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers, about those who are asleep, that you may not grieve as others do who have no hope.

Now, be reasonable. God likes moderation. We should tell the Lord and tell people when we hurt.

Philippians 4:5
Let your reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand

One of my favorite novels, written by Susan Howatchm "Wheel of Fortune", has a saying about grief that has stuck with me for about 25 years. I'm going to have to paraphrase. "There is no time table for grief. Grief is standing in the ocean on a peaceful day, turning to see the buildings on the coast, and being driven to your knees by a stray wave."

Grief... should have the hope of the virgins with oil for their lamp. The night is dark, the torch doesn't hide the darkness, the light burns bright. We will move forward with joy.

We have treasure in Heaven. This Treasure we have through pain and through hope.

Romans 15:13
May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.

John 14:13-14
Whatever you ask in My name, that will I do, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. “If you ask Me anything in My name, I will do it.”

Abba, Father,

We thank You for the miracles and answered Prayers You have given us.

And iwe ask the virus to go no further, to end.

And health for this planet, on earth as it is in Heaven, to give You Glory for Your Joy.

Dwell in us and those we love.
Help us to Seek You First
and We will finish well in Jesus Christ.

We ask to Live finding You first and Your Kingdom. In Jesus Christ, Amen.

Psalm 20:4-5
May he give you the desire of your heart and make all your plans succeed. May we shout for joy over your victory and lift up our banners in the name of our God. May the LORD grant all your requests.

Email registry at bottom.! “All Scripture is inspired by God” (2 Timothy 3:16). Men “moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God” (2 Peter 1:21). The Holy Spirit carried men along, moving and guiding them as they wrote in their own words what God wanted them to say. The Bible is unique; comprised of 80 separate books, & written over a period of thousands of years by more than 40 writers with one Author, spanning the centuries, different states of peace & war & different situations in life. The Bible answers the question: of who is God, who is man & what can their relationship can be. Although the Bible was written on perishable material and copied by hand for many centuries, its accuracy is not in doubt, proven by Dead Sea Scrolls and papyrus from 2,000 years. The Bible has survived persecution & criticism to be read with great interest in each generation. The Bible gives witness to the greatness of the Creator. A loving Father concerned for all of his creation. With each verse of the bible witnessing to God is love and the multitude & vastness of His attributes. The Bible was written for you. <><
