John 5:1-15 ~ Healed

John 5:1-15

After this there was a feast of the Jews, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.

2 Now there is in Jerusalem by the Sheep Gate a pool, in Aramaic called Bethesda, which has five roofed colonnades. 3 In these lay a multitude of invalids—blind, lame, and paralyzed.

One man was there who had been an invalid
 for thirty-eight years.

When Jesus saw him lying there and knew that he had already been there a long time, He said to him, “Do you want to be healed?”

7 The sick man answered him, “Sir, I have no one to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up, and while I am going another steps down before me.”

8 Jesus said to him, “Get up, take up your bed, and walk.” 9 And at once the man was healed, and he took up his bed and walked.

Now that day was the Sabbath. 10 So the Jews said to the man who had been healed, “It is the Sabbath, and it is not lawful for you to take up your bed.” 11 But he answered them, “The man who healed me, that man said to me, ‘Take up your bed, and walk.’” 12 They asked him, “Who is the man who said to you, ‘Take up your bed and walk’?”

13 Now the man who had been healed did not know who it was, for Jesus had withdrawn, as there was a crowd in the place.

14 Afterward Jesus found him in the temple and said to him, “See, you are well! Sin no more, that nothing worse may happen to you.”

15 The man went away and told the Jews that it was Jesus who had healed him.

Don't we who love Jesus believe He has done these miraculous miracles? We do.

Jesus so often asked the healed to have action on His Words.  See the Priest. Sent to the waters. Take up your mat. Forgiven.  Forgive.

We should always keep in our hearts, Jesus forgives us and open the gift of forgiveness to keep
open and loving hearts.

We will all ask the Lord questions about our lives, luck, blessings and fate. And Jesus told us, our prayer lives are to be friends who ask the Friend resting in bed to get up and share blessings and provisions. We are blessed to have an open door invitation to speak with the Lord.  Relationship.

Abba, Father,

Surely, He took on our infirmities
and carried our sorrows;
yet, we considered Him stricken by God,
struck down and afflicted.

But He was pierced for our transgressions,
 He was crushed for our iniquities;
the punishment that brought us peace
was upon Him,
and by His stripes
we are healed.

We ask healing
of Your Good Creation
the fullness of the earth is Yours.
The healing of those we pray
for in our heart and soul.

Dwell in us, Father,
Dwell fully in those we love,
Help us to seek You first
and we will finish well in Jesus Christ.

Thank You.

Our God is working. His Son,
Jesus is working.
Amen.

Mark 1:40-45 ~ coming to HIM

Jesus began His Ministry with Joy.  And being God, Jesus is not keeping the joy, He is bringing Joy to those around Him. New Lives. New Hope.

The kill joys of doubt regard this miracle as a maybe.  But this completely misses the fear in the ancient world of having life erode rapidly in a very horrifying and horrid manner.  Peter was asked about Matthew 8 and John 5. What is this Jesus was healing?  Tell us!  To heal leprosy was to heal missing noses, ears, lips, parts of the face. Fingers. Toes. A smell guaranteed to clear the space quickly.  Horrendous.

When we say Jesus heals, we aren't talking about a bit dead. Or a broken arm. We are saying missing, rotted off, impossible portions of what we hope to see until we are in Heaven has rotted horribly.  When the paralyzed man is put through an opening in a roof, he wasn't having a sprained back. Jesus healed the lame from muscles missing for 38 years.  The blind didn't have the brain to eye capacity, and the miracle explains what we know to be a brain healing to correctly function information sorting. A MIRACLE!

Mark 1:40-45

40 And a leper came to him, imploring him, and kneeling said to him, “If you will, you can make me clean.”

41 Moved with pity, He stretched out His Hand and touched him and said to him,

“I will; be clean.”

42 And immediately the leprosy left him, and he was made clean. 43 And Jesus sternly charged him and sent him away at once, 44 and said to him, “See that you say nothing to anyone, but go, show yourself to the priest and offer for your cleansing what Moses commanded, for a proof to them.”

45 But he went out and began to talk freely about it, and to spread the news, so that Jesus could no longer openly enter a town, but was out in desolate places, and people were coming to Him from every quarter.

The Critics have something to say about this Mark 1 portion.

We will list the critics' problems with Mark 1. It's very similar to the critics who say the Bible was written in 400 A.D., then we see 300 intact Chapters of the Bible in Papyrus 46. P46 is housed in The University of Michigan, from the late 1st or 2nd Century, judged by verb usage.

List of Criticism

Of direct relevance to the problem of "so-called leprosy" in the Bible is the still "confused" history of Hansen's disease in ancient Egypt.

And Egypt isn't Israel.

An ancient Christian Cemetery in Israel has Leprosy evidence.

A Canaanite jar of c. 1411 to 1314 B.C. attests to Hansen's Disease.

Alexander arrived in Israel in 3 B.C. His army had Hansen's Disease.

The affliction was diagnosed from the following symptoms: subcutaneous lesions with hairs turning white (Lv 13.3), spreading lesions (Lv 13.7–8), lesions with ulceration (Lv 13.11), secondary infections with ulceration (Lv 13.15), deep seated lesions spreading from a healed ulcer (Lv 13.22) or from the healed scar of a burn (Lv 13.25, 27), spreading lesions on scalp or chin or forehead (Lv 13.30, 36,43)

The worst spreadable illness in the day is Leprosy.

In this Scripture, Jesus has raked up concerns the people might be encouraged to interact and spread Leprosy.  Is Jesus looking Healthy? Jesus has rocked the boat now. Why didn't Jesus know the man was going to speak up about being healed? Jesus probably did know. God revealed, and Jesus knew the man was going to speak up. But why not ask.  The man was most likely too overjoyed to remain silent.

1 John 4:16
So we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us.
God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him.

John 3:16
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in Him
should not perish but have eternal life.

1 John 4:8
Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love.

Romans 5:8
But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners,
Christ died for us.

1 John 4:19
We love because he first loved us.

1 John 4:7
Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God,
and whoever loves
has been born of God and knows God.

1 John 3:1
See what kind of love the Father has given to us,
that we should be called children of God;
and so we are.

Hebrews 1:3
He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of His nature, and
He upholds the universe by the Word of His Power.

Abba, Father,

Your Nature is God of Love.
God of Encouragement.
God of Hope.
Our God wants to save the world in Jesus Christ.

The Nature of Jesus Christ is on display for all generations.
Jesus did not send down fire upon the Samaritans.

He has spoken to us by His Son,
whom He appointed heir of all things,
and through whom He made the universe.

The Son is the radiance of God’s glory
and the exact representation of His nature,
upholding all things by His powerful word.

After He had provided purification for sins,
He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high.

Thank You for creating us to be who You want us to be.

Today, we choose to see ourselves as You see us,
to believe in our life in You
 as You believe in us
and to love each other as You love us.

Thank you for the resurrection power of Your Presence
- living in us as individuals and in your Church.

Dwell in those we Love.
Help us always to seek You First.
In Jesus Christ, we will finish well.

Asking Your Help and Blessing
on Marriages and Families.

Your Beloved, pray for the nation and times,
times are difficult and hopeful.

We pray the violence will stop here and in Your Good Creation.
Wars end.

In Jesus Christ, We pray the horrible news will cease.

We ask for the return of good weather.
to all His Good Creation.

And ask Your Love and Mercy on the
many difficult challenges of healing from the Pandemic.

We receive everything
You desire for us this day.
And the days to come.
In Jesus. Amen.

To You be the Glory.
Amen in Jesus, Amen.

Mark 1:16-34 ~ Obey HIM

Mark 1:16-34

16 Passing alongside the Sea of Galilee, He saw Simon and Andrew the brother of Simon casting a net into the sea, for they were fishermen. 17 And Jesus said to them, “Follow me, and I will make you become fishers of men.”

18 And immediately they left their nets and followed Him. 19 And going on a little farther, He saw James the son of Zebedee and John His brother, who were in their boat mending the nets. 20 And immediately He called them, and they left their father Zebedee in the boat with the hired servants and followed Him.

21 And they went into Capernaum, and immediately on the Sabbath He entered the synagogue and was teaching.

And they were astonished at His teaching, for He taught them as one who had authority, and not as the scribes.

23 And immediately there was in their synagogue a man with an unclean spirit. And he cried out, 24 “What have you to do with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are—the Holy One of God.”

25 But Jesus rebuked him, saying, “Be silent, and come out of him!” 26 And the unclean spirit, convulsing him and crying out with a loud voice, came out of him. 27 And they were all amazed, so that they questioned among themselves, saying, “What is this? A new teaching with authority! He commands even the unclean spirits, and they obey him.”

28 And at once His fame spread everywhere throughout all the surrounding region of Galilee.

29 And immediately He left the synagogue and entered the house of Simon and Andrew, with James and John. 30 Now Simon's mother-in-law lay ill with a fever, and immediately they told him about her.

31 And he came and took her by the hand and lifted her up, and the fever left her, and she began to serve them.

32 That evening at sundown they brought to him all who were sick or oppressed by demons. 33 And the whole city was gathered together at the door. 34 And he healed many who were sick with various diseases, and cast out many demons. And he would not permit the demons to speak, because they knew Him.

Officially, this would be called the Jesus' miraculous healing of Peter's mother-in-law.

Yet, this would have a Jesus the Great Healer, medical school practice, today, in this entire portion of Scripture.

Jesus invites Simon and Andrew. They were there for John 1 and have seen the miracles of Jesus, Andrew has acknowledged Jesus as the Messiah, and have found miracles surrounding Jesus.

Jesus invites Simon and Andrew.

James and John see the example of Simon and Andrew and follow Jesus Christ. As Messiah and Teacher.

The Temple lets Jesus teach, others have done this.

Miracles occur.

Privately, Jesus heals Peter's mother-in-law. Peter lets Jesus because he has seen several miracles and has experienced the Glory of God.

The whole town of Capernaum brings Jesus their sick to heal.

About Me

My photo
Email registry at bottom.! “All Scripture is inspired by God” (2 Timothy 3:16). Men “moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God” (2 Peter 1:21). The Holy Spirit carried men along, moving and guiding them as they wrote in their own words what God wanted them to say. The Bible is unique; comprised of 80 separate books, & written over a period of thousands of years by more than 40 writers with one Author, spanning the centuries, different states of peace & war & different situations in life. The Bible answers the question: of who is God, who is man & what can their relationship can be. Although the Bible was written on perishable material and copied by hand for many centuries, its accuracy is not in doubt, proven by Dead Sea Scrolls and papyrus from 2,000 years. The Bible has survived persecution & criticism to be read with great interest in each generation. The Bible gives witness to the greatness of the Creator. A loving Father concerned for all of his creation. With each verse of the bible witnessing to God is love and the multitude & vastness of His attributes. The Bible was written for you. <><
