What would Jesus be thinking of Houston and oil prices dropping?

1 John 5
4 For whatever is born of God overcomes the world; and this is the victory that has overcome the world-- our faith. 5 Who is the one who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?


I have a theory, and this is just my thought.
And having lived through Dallas restructuring in 1987, I don't think this is particularly the worst thing.

When I was in college, we were told a battery of enormous proportions would not be ever invented. Mankind was now in nano technology and this would not be happening in 200 years.
West Texas is refusing to put in electrical car re-energizing stations.

What recharges all batteries? Natural Gas and Oil.

What recharges the Bloom Box battery used by Google and ebay headquarters. The same thing as the source to recharges these car batteries. This is primarily natural gas and oil.

We are in point in history, were focus is going to shift away from the Middle East for our power. And we have not yet caught up with this realization. There is a new invention recently told of by CNN, that is helium related, but different  - blimps are now going to be more economically feasible to ship 21 million pay loads 1,000 feet above our highway system.

Houston faces challenges Dallas saw in 1987. Corporations are tightening belts. Shell Oil employs 22,000 people and announced they will lay off 10,000 today.

Macy's says Retail has entirely changed and will change with the times.Not a bad idea. My great, great and great- grandparents were part of a wagon trail Texas city arriving after the Civil War. Their house was shipped to them by Sears as a kit. Carpenters arrived and built the house. Amazon and renewal are part of the challenges of regeneration.

Time to fully explore how to keep and capture Natural Gas. We might think of Porter Ranch in California as a time to explore how to capture gas of any kind. NASA says there is a leak in the four states area Colorado, Utah, Arizona and New Mexico.

2 Corinthians 9

7 Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. 8 And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work. 9As it is written,

his righteousness endures forever.”

10 He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your seed for sowing and increase the harvest of your righteousness. 11 You will be enriched in every way to be generous in every way, which through us will produce thanksgiving to God. 12 For the ministry of this service is not only supplying the needs of the saints but is also overflowing in many thanksgivings to God. 13 By their approval of this service, they will glorify God because of your submission that comes from your confession of the gospel of Christ, and the generosity of your contribution for them and for all others, 14 while they long for you and pray for you, because of the surpassing grace of God upon you. 15 Thanks be to God for his inexpressible gift!

We are educated people with ideas who have moved a lot of substances around the planet to fuel trade and economies of our Nation. We are a city where Jesus is honored. Churches flourish. 

When Hurricane Katrina overwhelmed these two states, the Churches of Houston met at Second Baptist and formed a grid. And in this grid all the Churches  - way out to the suburbs began feeding evacuees in hotels and even in the Stadium. The Government did not feed the Evacuees for these months and months - primarily the people who love Jesus and the Churches did. I wish there was a book of the volunteerism that fed hotels and stadiums each day.

This Holy Spirit that has led us to have the ability to shelter those hunkered down from the storm. Will indeed empower the people of Houston to be fed and nourished in hope, faith and love to find new solutions to again say, "Thank You, Father God."


Father God,
The world is in a state of change. When I was a child there was one rotary phone in the house and that dial the phone system relied upon an actual spark. Today we have phones that are astonishing and amazing.

Father God let us lift our eyes to You and find hope, love, joy, peace. Not to have war, and instead see innovation and renewal to fuel a new joy in this country.

Let us be people of solutions fed and nourished by the Word of God. Knowing we can trust You.
In Jesus Christ we lift up our loved ones and this Nation to see the future with encouragement and not so much worry. We lift our hopes to You, Father God and rest. Amen always in the Name of Jesus covering us. Amen.
