Angel Appears To The Shepherds, painted by Walter Rane
Mark 5:35-43
22 Then came one of the rulers of the synagogue, Jairus by name, and seeing him, he fell at his feet 23 and implored him earnestly, saying,
“My little daughter is at the point of death. Come and lay your hands on her, so that she may be made well and live.”
24 And he went with him.
35 While he was still speaking, there came from the ruler's house some who said, “Your daughter is dead. Why trouble the Teacher any further?”
36 But overhearing what they said, Jesus said to the ruler of the synagogue, “Do not fear, only believe.”
37 And he allowed no one to follow him except Peter and James and John the brother of James. 38 They came to the house of the ruler of the synagogue, and Jesus saw a commotion, people weeping and wailing loudly.
39 And when he had entered, he said to them, “Why are you making a commotion and weeping? The child is not dead but sleeping.”
40 And they laughed at him. But he put them all outside and took the child's father and mother and those who were with him and went in where the child was.
41 Taking her by the hand he said to her, “Talitha cumi,” which means, “Little girl, I say to you, arise.”
42 And immediately the girl got up and began walking (for she was twelve years of age), and they were immediately overcome with amazement. 43 And he strictly charged them that no one should know this, and told them to give her something to eat.
How is this a Christmas Story? This is a story of Fathers.
How is Jesus truly the Son of God? Jesus is created in Genesis 1 - Light of Light. True God of True God. Proverbs tells us Jesus was with His Father Laughing in Delight during Creation. So close this Father and Son - They are One Being.
An Angel is generally - a Fearsome Thing. Their first comment is "Fear"; "Fear Not!" No other words are put forth first and said very succinctly. Jairus is so afraid - he throws himself at the feet of Jesus. Not a common occurrence.
This is a plea a father is not going to refuse. Father to Father. God knows what it is to loose a Son to live on earth. To loose a Son to die. And Jesus is going to make sure - this child lives. This is Christmas. Emmanuel - God with Us. Jesus has said days may come, where the people would long for Jesus to live.
The Gospels are Christmas. God with Us. What a warm and good place. Be pleased with what God brings us Today.
Our Abba, Abba, Abba,
To all who did receive Him, who believed in His Name, He gave the right to become Children of God.
Christmas is Celebration of each day - God with us. For in Christ Jesus, we are all sons of God, through faith.
See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are.
God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
Oh, the glory that is to be revealed to us. For the creation waits with eager longing for the revealing of the sons of God.
You are God's people; you have received mercy. You have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, “Abba! Father!” The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God,
And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.
And in that Love, we lift those we Love. In expectation. We lift the people God has given us. And we delight to seek and work and live and abide and move in His Will. His is the Glory, the Goodness, The Power, The Love, The Mercy, The Kingdom of God. Alpha and Omega. King of Kings. Lord of Lords. Amen Jesus and Christmas - God with Us. Amen.
